How do I update to Skyraider 3.1 RC3 (Incredible)? - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm currently running 3.0 RC2 and did the following:
I downloaded & installed 3.0 RC3 via Rom Manager (did a backup/wipe before install). Everything went smooth, so I re-downloaded Rom Manager & installed 3.1 RC3 (w/ a wipe).
Install completed, but my phone just went into endless reboot mode. I powered off & restored from the 3.0RC2 backup, so my phone is working fine now, but what did I miss?
Do I need a more recent radio? (currently on Baseband ver 2.05.00.06.11) if so, where can I find the most recent (and do I need to step through each radio version to get to the latest)?
Or did I do something else incorrectly?
Thanks

i don't think you were supposed to wipe before installing 3.1, you may wanna check on that.

install rc3, then update thru rom manager no wipe

Thanks guys - that did it.

[Q] Problems with Flash 10.1 in 2.2

Here's the deal:
I installed the unofficial flash 10.1 for 2.1 (which didn't work btw) and proceeded to install the OTA update to Froyo. This is where the problems began. The browser suddenly closed every time I opened a site with flash. I searched the forums and found a solution that was to install a version (10.1.61.68) of flash prior to the one froyo has which is 10.1.72.7.
Now my problem is that everytime I install the working version (10.1.61.68) and reboot my phone reverts back to the 10.1.72.7 and I need to manually install the other version again. Is there anything I could do to prevent re-installing the program over and over again?
Did u wipe when moving to froyo? Just wipe and reflash. Flash 10.1 is built into the EVO Rom so u don't have to try to install again.

[Q] DHD won't boot

Hi, i need a bit of advice.
I followed this guide (including Install engineering version of HBOOT to get S-Off):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841076
Everything went smoothly.
I did my backup of current Rom in Rom Manager.
Then downloaded and installed cm 6.1.3 and my phone now will not boot. It hangs on the HTC screen (before the quietly brilliant part)
I can still get into recovery so I tried Wiping and restoring the backup i did earlier, and it still won't boot. I downloaded the CM 6 file again just to double check and the same thing happend, still no boot.
Can anyone help?
Am i missing something completely obvious?
what version of recovery are you using ?

Have you tried to flash CM7 or other ROMS?
It's ok now all sorted. Yes I tried cm6 and cm7 but I figured out the problem. I had the new version of clockwork recovery (3) I downgraded to Pauls version over at modaco and worked great after that. So I'm guessing there is a problem with the new one.

order of 'events' for upgrade to SFR 1.2

am currently on SRF 1.1 and want to get to 1.2
i read that it is compatible with CWM 3.0 but it also says that 3.1 is required....
do i need to do anything to download a neww/diff kernel? i believe i only downloaded one zip file when i went to 1.1, from stock froyo, and everything was included...
my phone/sd card is also riddled with junk so sorta like a pc, i would like to just nuke everything every once in a while and load the o/s and my apks from scratch ;-)
does this order make sense:
1- wipe/format phone storage
2- wipe/format my sd card
3- install cwm 3.1
4- flash to stock froyo
5- odin the recommended SRF 1.2 modem
6- flash the rom (believe only Standard currently exists but TW4 addon would sorta make it like Full?
7- install my apks
thanks!
ps do i need to install a kernel somewhere in between the above steps?

All you have to do is upgrade your 3.0.0.6 clockwork to 3.0.2.5 found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13693020
Just flash the zip through clockwork and reboot.
Then boot back into clockwork and flash the 3.1.0.1 upgrade found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1115999
Then reboot.
Then go back into clockwork and just flash 1.2 without wiping! If you have problems with 1.2, then wipe everything 3X each (data, cache, and dalvik cache) and flash.
thanks for the reply....
so, i will update CWM and flash the 2.1 rom....
few more questions pls...
what is it with the Syndicate instructions regarding flashing the modem first....i take it that is if i wasn't on 1.1 already?
also, why does it specifically say that there is no kernel.... do i need to install a different one?
finally, if i do want to wipe out the phone and sd....should i do the cwm/rom install before or after that?

You just need to be on an EC05 or newer modem.
If you're coming from SRF 1.1.1 then you probably already flashed Twilight 1.1.1. What does your build status say? If this says Twilight Hajime-whatever, then you're good, but I personally like reflashing my kernel since my phone likes it.
Why wipe your sd? You can just do 3x factory wipe, 3x data cache wipe, 3x dalvik cache wipe. If you truly wanted to Odin back to stock first, reroot, upgrade to cwm 3.1.0.1 then flash kernel then flash rom.
i never went to syndicate 1.1.1 because there wasn't a full version available when i saw it last, only standard...
looking now, i have SRF 1.1.0 / Twilight Zone 1.1.0
so after i flash v1.2 of the rom, i should download and install Twilight Zone kernel again?
not nec to wipe out the card....just thought i'd give it a 'cleaning' and reinstall the apks i needed again.....

As far as the first part, flash the 1.1.1 kernel from the 1.1.0 thread. It's attached to an old version of cwm so afterward you want to immediately flash cwm purple. You'll want the new kernel in place when the Rom flashes.
Ok, I don't know what I did wrong here. I was running a stock EC05 rom that was rooted. I upgraded my CWM 2.5 to CWM 3.1.0.1, and then flashed the 1.2 rom from CWM. It rebooted, the buttons on the bottom lit up, and the screen stays blank. So, I went back into CWM and cleared all data/caches 3x, then reflashed... still nothing. I cannot even restore my NAND backup. I can only boot to CWM3 :/ Now what???

*ugh* ok, i downloaded and updated CWM both times like you suggested to get me 3.1
i downloaded the 1.2 and rebooted into CWM and selected the zip....it looked like it worked but now i'm getting FC errors and my sd card is lagging when i try to access it (from Adao, Astro or even running apps from it)
did the 3x wipe....but i got less FC errors but now i get 'framework' something something errors...
did i hose myself? *bleh*
i tried a reflash again of 1.2 and still hitting FC errors.....
i'm looking for a link to odin back to flash froyo....then following the directions again to flash the twilight kernel and install the 1.2 again...
make sense?
probably my mistake....but now it worked.... after a couple of reboots, i started from scratch...what i did coming from syndicate 1.1.0/twilight 1.1.0:
1) updated to the two new versions of cwm
2) wiped everything 3x
3) flashed twilight kernel 1.1.1 from cwm
4) flashed syndicate rom 1.2
pretty easy, thanks for the help...running super smooth

[Q] HT Wildfire GPS Problem

Hi guys.
I flashed my HTC with CyanogenMod 7 for the HTC Wildfire V7.1.0.1 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1143125 and when I finished, the GPS wasn't working.
I flashed the radio again, and still it's not working...
Any clue?
you can try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1447591
Try flashing Jacob kernal
Try this method, it helped me:

First install cm7 and then make a nandroid backup of it. Then wipe everything and restore the previous nandroid backup of stock froyo rom (or any rom with working gps) and use gps to capture your location. Then again wipe everything and restore the cm7 backup. Now gps will be working. And once gps on cm7 works, then even after a hard reset it still works. This seems to be an issue only when freshly installing cm7. This is definitely a safe method.

*make sure your battery is fully charged before updating radio*
1. download all 3 versions of radios to the phones sd card (place it in root map).
2. (download and) open ROMManager.
3. scroll down and go to >> All ClockwordMod Recoveries (next: CWM).
4. Downgrade your CWM to version: 2.5.0.7 (this is important because as far as I know it the only CWM version you can manually update radio version without getting an error).
5. After downgrading, scroll up and go to >> Reboot into recovery
6. clear dalvik chache
6. Install radio version 13.53.55.24H_3.35.19.25 instead of 3.35.20.10
7. reboot phone, you will now have perfect working GPS, WIFI and Signals, if not, try other 2 radio versions. Mind that the GPS Icon changed.
8. Open ROMManager again and download and install latest version of CWM again.
When 3.35.19.25 works, you can reflash to 3.35.20.10. Most of the times GPS will still work and you have the updated radio as well.
Try this, helped to me

[Q] Problems going to Paranoid Android 4.4 for Ssamsung SGH-T989 / tmobile

Reposting as this was posted in wrong section:
Hi
I have been trying to upgrade from CM 10.1 (build 03212013 ) to Paranoid Android 4.4, since I see the new version has BLN support (I'd stuck with the old CM for so long due to this).
Anyways upon trying this I discovered I had to (always ran clear cache, and ran the T989 script super -wipe)
- update my modem to the latest t-mobile - upgraded to the latest which is needed - UVMC6
- was trying to install with CWM 5.8.x - but it would just 'hang' at "installing ZIP" further research indicates I need to upgrade CWM
- Upgraded to CWM 6.0.4.3 per more searching, tried erase flash, just hangs - further research indicates this CWM has a known issue
- used ODIN to goto TWRP 2.7 - flashed, and booted, tried numerous times hangs at "teamwin' screen when trying to boot into recovery
Ended up giving up and Odin flashing back CWM 5.8.1.3 and loading my old CM 10.1 build again
Anyone have any hints why this is so difficult for me?
Need some help if possible please!
thanks
Jonathan
Found work around
Just want to update
I managed to find a work around of sorts. I needed to restore my phone back to CWM 5, and to do that I needed to use ODIN to flash it.
After flashing CWM5 back to the phone, I was able to restore previous ROM (CM mod 10.x), and boot up. After that I used the rommanager to re-install CWM 6.0.4.3, and reboot the phone into recovery.
When in recovery I went to mountand storage, and formatted , /cache, /system and /data. After doing that I choose to install ZIP from SDcard, and selected the Parandoid Android 4.4.x I was trying before. This completed, and installed without any error messages.
Hopefully this helps someone else out.
Thanks,
Jonathan
