Here's a couple of quick .cabs I created for myself and decided to share with everybody else. "Calibri Mod" will change your system font to the Calibri font. Screenshots below. The second cab "NRG Battmeter" will put a line at the top of your screen that indicates your battery charge at all times. It turns blue when charging, yellow or red depending on the battery charge remaining. Enjoy
p.s. You HAVE to reboot to see the changes made by any of the these two cabs...
Thanks NRG! You mos def have some great contributions! I like the Calibri mod. I tried to alter mine to Lucida Grande myself by just dumping the font in the Window\Fonts folder and doin' the Reg edits, but it just looked too big still. Lucida Grande is a great font though. You might want to try it with something.
PS - What background is that you use?
how can i get these fonts for the wm6.0 offical rom can anyone direcet me to the right link to download and find out how i can change my fonts
thanks guys
i don't see any difference between the battery meter in your thumbnail and the one already included in kavana/ricky's roms. Is there something I'm missing?
its that green bar on top of the screen, almost useless, but probably visually pleasing
and when I installed the calibri font cab it would freeze up my phone periodically for like 10/20 seconds every 5 or so minutes so I removed it....i dunno why this happened.
Hey NRGZ28 Can upload The Chome.dll file for me ,,,, the one where it shows your photos on your storage card on your sliding homescreen .. thank you and nice file....

Actually, you may not want to use that .dll on that thread.... it shows ALL image files in the pictures on the home screen....i mean ALL ! every .ico file from all directories on your storage card. all temporary internet files with imagees attached. everything! However, if you want to do this without a .dll fix then create a file called pictures in your storage card's root directory ( not My pictures...just pictures) place your pics in that folder and you will be able to see them on your home screen... the only problem is that if you have photos you've take from your camera. they will not immediately go into that folder, so yo'll have to cut and paste them in that folder as you take your pictures from your camera. I'm currently working on a way for the camera to put those pics immediately into that folder via regedit , but i've had no luck so far
If you look in HKLM/SOFTWARE/HTC/Camera/Image you can edit SaveFolder_0409 to Pictures instead of My Pictures, and that takes care of your folder issue I believe, the only thing is it saves the pictures file into storage card/my documents and not into the root directory. But I remember seing a place that does have the path where the pictures go to, but haven't found it yet.

Naw i tried that.... when you make that edit, what happens is the camera creates the folder \storage card\my documents\pictures and/or creates the folder \my documents\pictures if you have it saved to your local device as soon as you take a picture.. somewhere it still starts at the \my documents folder
i've done a lot of digging and modding with the registry in addition to editing the aforementioned key but i have had no success
i modded everything that started with \my documents or that started with \mydocuments\my pictures hell i even created another folder called pictures in the phones root directory and it didnt make a difference
ohhh NRG, i love the new battert meter thats a really nice touch. Great job

Does the DOT DOT folder work in WM ? Can you specify "\..\Pictures". That way if it automatically prepends My Documents in either the Storage Card or the Device, the .. would take you back to the parent folder (top level) again.
May be worth a try.

Naw it doesn't work. Unfortunately the Key is looking for a direct attribute , not an attribute in directory structure. I've tried the ..\ thing and it doesn't do anything
I have tried the font change cab...but...it only changes my system fonts...
How do I change the home screen font?...
I have edited the .XML and have the font in the windows directory....
Any ideas?
I have added the .XML

Sorry it's just named "NRG Battmeter" which tends to make it look like it's your's no mention of Saman who made the software.
Any chance of doing a thread on showing us how to incorporate our own fonts? Sure many people would be interested.

Made a New Background For Call In Progress Screen
Check this out. I made this adaptation of an old homescreen background. Just drop this file in your Windows directory, if you like it.
Looks very lcd screen friendly, will try out later today. Do you have the original wallpaper too? Did someone else on here draw it, or did it come from one of the original ROMs?
The pic I posted when clicked on is the actual size of the picture. I have been making homescreen xml's for a while and this was one of the old backgrounds for a homescreen with Fizz weather and Facade. I just altered the image so that it would fit nicely on the Call In Progress Screen. So, no one here drew the picture, and no it did not come from a ROM. It's just simply a pic for 320x213 screen that is altered for the CIPS picture.

You should warn people that the file you posted is really a RAR archive and not a ZIP archive. When trying to open it as a zip, XP complains that it's corrupted...
Thanks, will remember to say that next time. I totally spaced. Appreciate the heads up.

Yeah, I'll see if I can come up with some others. Maybe I'll get with Profezza about some. I'd hate to come off like I'm stepping on some toes, since Profezza's Alphanuma is pretty similar.
Do you have any requests or ideas? Any ideas are always appreciated.
Holla!
well, i found the images already, but i haven't found the referring registry-keys yet. (i know in SP2003, it was possible to change the Windows-Start-Logo by just modifying the registry and not changing any rom-files. is this possible for these two images (the green background, when someone is calling and the plain-white one in the startmenu-background.) I'd rather like just changing registry-keys instead of replacing those files. Can someone tell me, if these 2 images are given in the registry, and where these keys are?
Take a look in

well, thanks, at least i found the start-menu/menu background, so i can change from plain white to some other color or gradient.
I was actually going to make a .cab which replaces all of your volume, alert, question, low battery, and inbound/outbound/in call splash screens... .Maybe i'll do that now. If enough people want it.

no it wont. But im sure you can create a script to accomplish that.
All the .cab would do is basically overwrite the files .png, .bmp that are located in the windows directory. i mean i have posted the files b-4 on this forum with the original file names that mirror the ones you would be replacing in the windows directory. lemme see if i can find that post.
Here' they are. I take no credit for these. Guys over at moto forums created these. Just drop these in the \windows directory and overwrite the originals (make sure your backup the originals if you want to revert back)

Thanks for these (I know they're not yours BUT you did let us know they were available)!
I was never really able to overwrite files in the \Windows directory on my phone before flashing to Kavana's. I haven't tried yet. The phone was app unlocked before the flash as well. I've also never been able to see \Windows via active sync on my pc. The same is true even after flashing to Kavana's.
Here's hoping this goes well!

the \windows directory on your phone is a hidden folder.
You need to go to your manubar and click on tools-->folder options-->click on "view" tab and select, " show hidden files & folders" lick apply or ok.... you should then be able to see the /windows directory on your phone with exploring your directory via activesync

I hate so much to be negative but I've tried that. It still doesn't show up.
so you mean to tell me that "show hidden files and folders IS selected" and when you connect your phone to your PC or laptop via activesync and then press explore in the activesync application. and then click on "windows mobile device" . and it shows you the list of files and folders, that the \windows folder is not there?

Yup! It's something that's been bugging me for awhile now! Even after a flash of the ROM it's not accessible. My girlfriends laptop as XP on it and it's the same story there too! I can use resco though to move the files and I've already placed the ones you posted on my phone. They look great. I'll try to create some of my own and see how it goes. Say, is ActiveSync running randomly for no reason when your phone is not connected to your pc normal?
Ive searched hi and low, and cant seem to find a simple program to store private documents (pics, texts, vids etc) in a password protected folder, on my N95 you could simply add a password to the zip archives but cant do this on the touch hd!
Every program ive found either costs £30+ or just isnt user-friendly, any advice or could someone point me in the right directon!!
Thanx in advance!

this is what's going on..... my buddy has a hd2 and I the Evo 4G.... we both have HTC sense on our phones, which the weather/time widget runs off of...... there is a skin for the sun I want on this site that he has, but it is in a cab file... I need it in a .apk file.... the developer doesn't know how to do it and I can't figure out how to get this Sun on my widget.....
My friend says the sun is technically a manila file within the cab... but I can't locate any manila files on my phone..... basically can someone help me figure out how to either make this cab file into a apk file or where the hell I need put the manila file from the original cab file onto my Evo
The original file I believe was called ★★★Jaguaralani PLANETS★★★ the sun I want is the one that is on fire
Your best bet would be either to find a weather widget from the market with the style you want or see if some of the talented modders would add it to their work.

It's not so much that it makes people mad, it's just irritating and de-motivational for some who might otherwise be in the mood to tackle something like this. It also keeps an unproductive thread on the first page, which does no one any good.
Instead of bumping your thread hoping someone will come along and knock this mod out for you why don't you start trying to learn how this mod can be done? Post with any progress, it's your thread, use it to learn how to do something that you want done. Also, a mod like this shouldn't be that hard, if you have rooted your phone and are comfortable moving files around and have some basic knowledge of ADB then this would be a decent place to start. Even if you just try to get ONE image ported it's just "rinse and repeat" from that point.
I really like those images, I think they're neat. I have zero experience with WinMo and .cab files but I'm gonna try to get them out of the cab. If I can get a hold of the images then it shouldn't be too terribly hard to pop them into Sense.
I don't know what a manila folder is in a cab but I am certain you cant just put a manila folder in an apk and expect anything good.
If I make any progress I will be sure to let you know
okay well here goes
my friend can break down the cab files 4 me to get the manila files which are icons that stored in the cab emailed it to me......
but i am having trouble finding the weather manila icons in the sense on the Evo4g....
can anyone tell me how to locate the icons 4 the weather widget.....

there is nothing in android that relates to manila. These images (unless I'm mistaken) are in the com.htc.resources.apk
you'll need to get the images, then do whatever you need to do to make sure they are the same size and name as the ones in android then drop them into the correct apk using using an archive tool, I prefer 7zip

Really clever and useful app.
I've only used it to hide apps on friends' Androids, once I've configured them.
They're new to Android and want the simplest experience they can get, with all the benefits.
It's a shame that you cant hide Minimalistic Text and Desktop Visualizer, and still have them run on the homescreen though. Hidden apps won't always run in the background (as warned in the app).
I hope it continues to develop - it's definitely worth al look for anyone who is not aware of it's potential.
I love the fact that it actually operates as an audio manager. Excellent disguise.
I'm using it since a few month. Save with tb. Restore after flashing a new rom. You just have to hide app again. Great app. Bugless.

hey buddy if you go on your phone and in the search you put Hide Pro that will be the first thing it will come up..download it and enjoy the app. but if you want the link just let me know and i give it to you
Been using it for ages now and its quite good, easy to use etc.
The only problem is it doesnt truly hide the pictures, files etc you want hidden. It simply moves them somewhere else with the old . trick before the folder name. Anyone who is familiar with android phones will know how to find them with root explorer.
Ive been searching but cant find an app that truly hides it. Back in the days when i was on Windows mobile 6.5, there was an app "Hide my stuff" and believe me, it did just that. Connect your phone to the PC, the folder exists but its blank in size, no files, cant unhide them etc. Only way to view them is via the app on the phone but i cant find anything on Android that hides things like that app did :-(

Dont think you follow me, dont get me wrong, ive used for 6 months easy and it is good for what it does.
What i mean is that it doesnt matter what ROM youre using, it doesnt truly hide the files you think are hidden. ie/ if i had your phone, i would be able to find the files easily so if the average person took your phone, whatever pictures you hide, arent seen in the gallery for example however its easy to find anything you have hidden if you get my drift. This is because the app moves the files somewhere else. Any file explorer can see them so its not really hidden. go to /mnt/sdcard/programdata/android/language/.fr/ and everything hidden is there so i wouldnt call that hidden lol
The other app i mentioned when i was using windows TRULY hid the file and there was no way you could ever find it unless you unhid it with the app, hope that makes sense.
I was just putting it out there if anyone knew of an app on Android that truly hides files, i havent found one yet.

Most on the market just put a . in front of the folder, with file explorer its easily viewed.
If you are ever bored, hide some pictures you dont want anyone to see, go to a photo shop where you can use the self service machines to print photos, put your phones SD/micro SD card in there and whatever you have hidden appears lol.

Il give you a buzz if something comes up..In the meantime im having a bloody rough time putting a link in my sig and its not bloody working and ihave tried everything i know
I'm using this app since the beginning. It's a great app. it had already saved my life lots of time !!!
It's really great for the money !
Hidden files are renamed in .bin, and then are moved to a "secret folder" in External_sd\ProgramData\Android\Language\.fr\ or something like that.
The add-on option is a way to lock an application. When you try to launch a protected app, you've got a force close message. in this message you choose report, then you have to input your secret code, and the app is launched...really clever solution.
Developer say that his next goal is to hide some secrets contacts from address book.
Yes man, believe me, it's a great app. hidden in a audio manager application.
PS 1: I have nothing to do with the developer. I've try lot of similar apps, but this one was the best one.
The other solution was giving by Tasker and some intelligent script to lock app and hide files. But it's more more complicated ;-)
PS 2: On the bad side, developer did not update his app for a while :-(

Try Private Gallery - Hide Pictures from market.

Tested on Dell Streak 5.
I am using this app since 4 months.. it simply does what it says.. n it was one of the best
but the last update killed 'Lock App' feature which comes with an plugin... which is one of a kind..i love the disguised force close option.
Please tell me if this feature is still working for you'll???
Hi everyone,
I've managed to hide apps but I can't unhide them? It gives me an error when trying to do so and the app appears back in the hidden list.
Anyone else experienced this and managed to fix it?
Since the location of hiden files are stored in Phone memory (\ProgramData\Android\Language\.fr) can we move to External SD Card memory?
I often confuse with the terms "SDCARD" in file explorer, in my opinion "sdcard" is the external memory card which is purchase separately...
This app appeared on my phone without being installed. What caused this???
thanks for share:good:
