Use 512.pit for now. Older FWs have issues when using 803.pit

Good question... I always wanted to know, never discovered, but never bothered in creating a topic to find out... either way, I have randomly used 512 and 803, same results... used 803 with my last JPC flash....

i get errors when using 512 with JPC, or 803 with JG4. But 803 works fine with JPC, 512 with the older 2.1 roms.

I used 512 with my jpc and now my phone is flying
Had real issues when 803 was used..i also used the csc file which came with hk froyo
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk

no success of using 512 for all of the roms
513 is good for me for any android 2.1
i flash JPC using the new 803, which is no issue at all.

Its to do with partitions. I heard natter that group roMs werent functioning due to512 do maybe 803 its the alternative partition layout forfroyo

Sorry to dig up, but i would like to know the difference if anyone knows...
Cheers

I am using 512 for every flash. No issues.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium

I use my own custom pit file with no issues.

The pit file maps and sets the dimension of the various partitions in our nand.
With old early rom --> pit 513;
With eclair, froyo 2.2.1 and gingerbread -->pit 512;
with froyo 2.2 (some beta) --> pit 803.

Yes the hardware could undoubtedly support Gingerbread or even ICS, but who among us can build that kernel from scratch?
I apologize if this has already been discussed in a previous thread but why are we using the Fascinate .pit for EC07?

That's not confusing at all.
I read somewhere, and it turned out to be pretty true, that PITs are actually kinda of a big deal... And for some reason, they don't work properly most of the time... The PIT that i suggest people use is in fact for the Fascinate, but why would that surprise you? The partition layout of the two phones are exactly the same, it's just our phone has the ticker I use that PIT simply for the fact that i know it works, and it doesn't cause problems... And when i tried to use one made specifically for our phone, it didn't work out too well....
So yeah haha

I just ran into an issue trying to odin an EC07 rom with the Fascinate .pit. It wouldn't complete and I had to pull the plug and start over.
It depends on what Fascinate PIT you are trying There is one specific one that works...... A lot of the others DONT............ (Not even properly for the Fascinate...)

[Q] JB Related - Theme and Partitions

2 Part Question here.
After a good run on CM/AOSP built roms, I'm coming back to stock based for awhile. Has anyone seen/found a way to get an aosp style signal bar on FI16 ? (Battery, clock, wifi/signal) ??
2nd Question is: Since the JB builds seem to do partitions differently with /preload - anyone bounced back and forth between source built JB and stock based ? If so, what did you do about that extra partition?

Thanks Blues... I did not realize the one-clicks re-partitioned.
I saw Jelly's theming but I really wasn't a huge fan of it. My personal taste is more of a simple blue AOSP style and I just haven't found that on the JB stock based cooks yet. I'll keep watching and if it bothers me enough maybe I'll try one myself.

Only restore re-partitons. If you want to ensure it's done, you can use a complete ics tar, along with the proper pit file, and check the option in pc odin.
