Hey guys First post. and i wanted it to be good so here we go. I was looking around on some sites to see if there is any new word on the release date or anything, cause my phone is really outdated. So i stopped by Wmexperts.com and reading some HTC stuff, and came across an article(end) and it said that US Cellular shows rebates and stuff for the Touch Pro 2. Well, only 4 passed the FCC, and thats one sprint verizon tmobile and a ______. Well would this be true if it shows rebates, will AT&T ever get the TP2?
http://www.wmexperts.com/touch-pro-2-snap-headed-us-cellular
Colin I can't see at&t being the only carrier not to have the TP2.
Anyways, here's a post that shows an at&t variant of the TP2 clearing the FCC: http://www.wmexperts.com/touch-pro-2-att-passes-fcc .

Just because ATT clears FCC with this phone doesn't mean it'll happen... If memory serves me right, ATT had the Samsung i900 cleared to go last year, also, and that didn't happen
But not saying the TP2 won't happen, either...
ok, i have seen these posts before, but did the FCC say that that specific one would be AT&T's model to be sold on the shelfs?
it doesn't make any sense that ATT would miss out on the TP2. we shouldn't look into this too much. ATT will be getting their variant of the TP2. we just need to be patient [:

really? I can. They are the only ones getting the new iphone and with all their sights set on it, i wouldn't be surprised at all if they ignored the Touch Pro completely. Give how many iPhone users their are, and how many would jump on the upgrade, id say they dont see the TP2 as much of a thing to bother with, while the other carriers Need it just to compete with the iPhone.

for most AT&T customers on these forums, I hope you are wrong lyian...
in my eyes, the TP2 will completely overshadow the iPhone, regardless of how fast the 3GS is.
and, knowing ATT, they would be remiss if they didn't pick up the TP2. I mean cmon, they could make much more money with both the TP2 and the iPhone on their store shelves.

Oh i hope im wrong too, but its hard for me to think i can be. But understand all this that ive said is only from my perspective. I live in a college town, and i swear if i had a dollar for every iPhone i saw on campus every single day id be a very rich man. Two of my friends alone have them and they arnt students! iPhones are Every dam where over here. So for atleast the ATT stores here, the iPhone is king, much as i hate that idea.
I will say tho, that when i went into best buy to get a charger, i showed the cellphone guy my phone and he was like "ah HTC, yea, they're about the only phones worth running Windows Mobile on these days" hehe i just smiled
Remember the rumor involving the Barium? Hmm.... I would get the more featured OmniaPro before an ATT phone that doesn't tilt, even w/o 3G!
I have to agree with Lyian on this one. At my college some students doing a statistics project about cell phones found out that over 61% of the campus was using some sort of iPhone (2G-3G) and that another 20% or so were using a LG envy of some sort. I found this to not so surprising. I myself am using the iPhone (I know I know). I gave up on my old HTC 8525 due to the sluggishness of windows mobile. But now that I see the overhaul HTC has done with their Touch Interface, I really want one bad.
I popped into the ATT Shop yesterday and asked all the clerks and even asked to speak to the manager if they had any word on the HTC Touch Pro 2 or code-name ATT Fortress and they hadn't the slightest idea what I was talking about. Instead they kept showing me over to the iPhone 3G S and trying to get me to buy that instead (I told them I was looking to upgrade)
With ATT having the iPhone (and just getting the 3G S) they really is no need for them to push this phone out anytime soon. Maybe the 'changes' they will make to the phone will be there as to not overshadow their signature phone
Maybe I should just get the 2G TP2...
but they have released both the tilt and fuze; both of which were released along side the iphone. why would they stop now? i really believe that at&t markets these phones to two completely different markets; the fun young crowd (iphone) and the more business oriented customers (touch pro2). at&t has released an updated htc device every october/november. i dont see this being any different.

two reasons.
1. With each iPhone release, the sale of that model phone has been better than the last. Im sure the 3gs will outsell the 3g. At first they were all about the HTC phones, then the iPhone came out, and while they may have been holding on to the HTC phones as a 'just in case', they likely feel pretty secure in their sales of the iPhone and dont have to worry about it not being a good seller.
2. Apple is making more business like apps available to try to merge into that selling market as well. Now they arnt nearly as flexible as something on a Winmo(especially with the limited interface of the iPhone) but thats not the point, and i doubt ATT cares much.
I bet if you look at the HTC phones vs the iPhone sales, their would be a major difference. Perhaps they so much more potential profit from the 3gs release, that they don't see a need to bother with the Pro2
But who knows.. All any of us can do is wait and see what ATT ends up doing.
But I don't understand why at&t would care? Either way they're making money, the data plan is the same price, why not offer both and give more options to their customers? makes no sense for them not to carry it, and I'm almost sure they will carry it. However its probably not gonna hit till october...

At least two people from xda have seen it, so I don't think this thread is meaningful anymore.
Besides, the assumption made is questionable, since U.S. Cellular is on CDMA, not GSM

well, they have to buy the phones from HTC.. and if they dont sell, then they lost money...
I'm pretty much at my breaking point with this company. Between empty promises, botched hardware and being the last of the majors to even release the new technology, let's just state what goes without saying: AT&T should rename themselves to iPhoneT&T because they've apparently bet the farm on that overrated piece of crap and in turn have thrown their Windows Mobile business clients under the bus.
No amount of excuse makes sense or matters any more. The iPhone 3GS has been on the market for plenty of time. If someone was gonna buy it, they'd have bought it by now. If they were waiting for WinMo 6.5, they could have released it as an update rather than making their clients wait while every other major phone company released it. Not to mention the fact that the "consortium" of US carriers have kept HTC from releasing unlocked versions for U.S. consumers. God forbid they didn't get their over-charging grubby hands on a few extra shekels. For the love of everything sacred, HTC is already leaking the HTC Leo and I have yet to see a TP2 outside of a T-Mobile showroom!
AT&T has lost it's focus and I'm at the point where waiting for them to get off their sorry butts to release a phone (of which they're going to screw up the hardware, let's be frank) has become a near impossibility and I'm about ready to jump ship.
That leads me to two questions: Who's with me and where the heck should I go?
Hey I feel your pain I am still using the Hermes from 3 years ago. I really want this phone but I can't do Sprint (Not enough custom ROM's etc) and Verizon well they just totally suck!! T-mobile is an option but coverage isn't that great here and there is no 3G and I have heard the sound volume is sucky on that one for some reason.
So I am stuck for now. As far as the whole 6.5 thing it really doesn't matter to me because I would just be using a custom ROM from here anyway but I really have no choice but to wait
While the Leo looks bad as hell I think its the first time I have actually thought hmmm maybe that phone is just too damn big for me lol
They've got the iDud and all the money and glory that goes along with it, do you think they give a crap about the Touch Pro 2?

Just my personal experience and I told myself long ago I would never give them my money again because of the things they do.
Most of their phones you can't send files like pics and ringtones via bluetooth because that profile is taken out. Alot of phone have GPS locked and WIFI taken out etc.
Again thats just my personal opinion.

They used to do those things, that's true, but no more, all their smartphones (and regular phones) come with all features (like GPS, Bluetooth OBEX, etc.) intact and ready for use. They have also released ROM updates for many devices, like the original Touch Pro and Omnia that unlock the GPS on them. They said they'd do it, and they did, I am surprised but pretty happy they have
Thats probably true but at this point its the principle of the matter because I have way too many options in my area. Besides they are also the most expensive.
We've got 5 carriers, AT&T (formerly Edge Wireless here, an AT&T affiliate), Verizon, US Cellular, Metro PCS and as of this summer/fall, T-Mobile, who is just building out in our area. In terms of actual coverage, it goes like this-
1.US Cellular
2.Verizon
3.AT&T
4.Metro PCS
5.T-Mobile (they are just building out, hence the low rating).
Sprint and Nextel have licenses to serve our area as well, but have never built out a network here. Sprint roams on US Cellular, and Nextel phones are just dead paperweights.

Oh it's obvious that they don't give a crap about it. My problem is that they want to have their cake and eat it too. "We don't give a crap about Windows Mobile users and we'll release the phones we're going to whenever we darn well please, but we want to be sure that HTC doesn't give people the opportunity to buy it before we make it available."
The fact that they keep the manufacturer from releasing an unlocked version that will work here is criminal. It's almost a cellular monopoly but in the sense that the carriers have gotten together as a team in an effort to remove choice from the consumer. They can claim all they want that you can still buy one from the manufacturer but that's like saying you can only buy a Porsche in the US from a Porsche dealer. If you order one from overseas, not only will you pay significantly more, we're also going to replace the engine with one from a 1987 Ford Escort.
Why can't we just buy the phone we want from whoever we choose and let that be that. I still have to pay for service any way you cut it. They can't be making THAT much money of the device itself anyway!

Not me.
I'm cruising along just fine on my Kaiser till AT&T gets the Tilt 2 like they want it.
Everything I've read leads me to believe it's a great device and worth the wait. If I get 2 years out of a Tilt 2 like I have my Tilt 1, it's all good.
I'm with you. Hopefully I'll be saying byebye to AT&T today...Once my TP2 arrives..
I don't mean to be a little rough but STOP WHINING AND TAKE ACTION!
I felt exactly as you did and changing carriers wasn’t really an answer. After all, by buying from any carrier you are supporting HTC and the local carriers who arrange/force HTC not to release phones with US 3G bands.
The ONLY way this is going to change is if the customers (YOU) change.
Personally, I have decided I will NOT sign any 2 year commitment and I will NOT be forced to buy a data plan, and I will NOT support HTC who is allowing ATT and others to bully them into not releasing world phones with US 3G bands.
The solution is simple, buy from a company who DOES NOT DO THIS. Personally, I went with the Samsung Omnia 2. If that is not your cup of tea, look at Nokia’s or even the Sony X2 which is due out soon. Support the companies that are releasing phones with US 3G bands.
The only way the local carriers are going to change (or HTC) is if enough of us speak with our money and take our business elsewhere. That is the only way things will change. Whining about it on a forum isn’t going to have any effect.
Good luck to you and I hope you do speak with your wallet by taking your business to other phone manufacturers.
While I'm certainly not enjoying the wait to upgrade my 8525, I don't really see the issue with them waiting for WinMo 6.5. Sucks for me, but then I know the carrier is going to fully support it. Are all the other carriers going to have 6.5 upgrades ready and waiting on Oct 6th?
Also I feel like I'm in the minority, but my experience with AT&T has been great. Their 3G coverage in my area is fantastic. I'm not a big fan of AT&T as a company, but I have a hard time arguing with the service I receive.
My first post.
I've been waiting on ATT for what seems like forever. Think I'm going over to Sprint in a week or two so I can try out both the TP2 and the Hero then decide which one I want. Not to mention the monthly cost will be significantly reduced compared to ATT.
Have a newb question. I know there is a different hardspl for the Sprint version, that isn't out yet as far as I can tell, but once hardspl is out will all the roms, software, etc. for the other versions work on the CDMA version? If not I might be stuck waiting on ATT and paying too much for service.

Let's see, you don't have a TP2, don't even have an HTC phone, and are advocating that all of us also refuse to buy HTC altogether so WTF are you doing here in a forum dedicated primarily to HTC phones? It seems to me that if you really were serious about your little boycott you would put your money where your mouth is and "take your business elsewhere."

i think the main reason att hasnt released the touch pro 2 is that their network isnt ready to handle all the data the will be running on those devices, they have already alot of activity from the 3gs , also they are waiting to release it with windows 6.5 so that will be a plus because it will be definite that it will be fully supported, just my .02

Ditto, Verizon (coverage and unlocked GSM sim card), sprint if they have good coverage in your area (4G),
I would have jumped ship if not for the fact that it would cost me a minimum of $30/month more on any other carrier compared to my grandfathered plan.
So in the meantime my Tilt is enough to keep me going, though my patience is very thin at this point. I just want to know a release date (price too would be nice). That would at least make the waiting more bearable knowing when it would end.
Leave AT&T cause they release a phone 2 months after others? Doubly a solid reason.
I like AT&T, I like their prices (I pay $20 for unlim internet, + $70 for 2 phones (700 mins)). Plus their rollover feature is cool, I got like 4.8K minutes accumulated (way too much I know).
Plus their customer service is awesome, they've repeatedly forgiven me $200-$300 on my account when I went way out of limit (about 4 years ago). My friend with Verizon was so jealous.
Just hang tight, AT&T's tilt 2 will be out in Nov '09.
So I just got off the phone with ****-T&T a couple hours ago and I'm really pissed.
I called them to clarify their "grandfather clause" exceptions to the data requirements for smartphones because I have had a Tilt without data for over 2 years now. The Tilt is on life support now so I was looking into getting another phone outright without an upgrade so they don't force data on me. I have no need for data because I am in the wifi spots 24/7 and only need a smartphone for e-mail capabilities.
It turns out that despite being grandfathered, if I get a smartphone any other way other than insurance claim my ATT Tilt, then they will require that I add data. Even though I don't need data. ****ing bull****.
And it looks like they don't have any more Tilts so they are going to send me a Tilt2. I have heard mixed reviews about the Tilt2, so I decided to come and get some opinions for those who have had it and tested it for a while here.
Any input regarding the Tilt2 (good or bad) is welcomed before I decide my next step. I have been with this ****ty company since they were Cingular and I am getting fed up with their bull****!
First off, calm down. If you really love(d) your tilt, which I'm guessing you do looking at your username lol, then you would look around on ebay, craigslist, amazon, etc for some good deals. They're all reliable sources, minus craigs, so you definitely have one option there.
But if you insisted on getting a tilt 2, I would have to say no. I fell in love with it for the first 2 months I bought it but the love slowly faded away. WM 6.5 is truly remarkable in all that it can do but over time the small laggy/choppy responses gets to you...it did for me. But another cool thing you can do, if you hadn't known, is dualboot android.
Honestly, go get yourself a nice android phone. Android is the next leading OS next to Apple. And until WM 7 comes out (which is Winter 2010/Spring 2011), WM will be far behind.
Good luck.

Thanks so much for that honest response. I liked my Tilt since it was my first smartphone and over time, I got to flash roms so it was fun. But with WM sucking so much and all the issues with flashing Manila roms, when it started dying, I decided I would go for another phone.
I was looking into the Blackberry Bold 9700 because of the remarkable e-mail client, but ATT shot down those dreams rather quickly. I just don't get it. Why does it matter what phone I am using if I don't need a data plan. It's just frustrating because they are feeding into the persona of that big greedy corporation that doesn't give a crap about customers.
And you just reiterated all of my concerns about the Tilt2. Although it has gotten some solid (4/5) reviews on some tech sites, customer reviews are 2.5 or 3/5 because of lagging, bloatware, etc issues.
Well alot of the customers bad reviews are from using the stock ATT Rom included with the Tilt 2. If you flash a new ROM almost all of the lagging, choppiness and bloatware is completely gone. I was afraid when I first got my tilt 2 as well because of all the negative reviews from people, but after flashing a new ROM I instantly fell in love with it. Almost everyone whos seen my phone is extremely jealous of it because of the nice screen, full keyboard, and the beautiful User Interface, and most of those people have owned iPhones. You'll have to experiment which ROM is the best for you, but I have no doubt with all the wonderful chefs here on XDA you'll find one that you love. Also If you buy an unlocked phone, not from AT&T you wouldn't have to buy a data plan, I got mine of eBay, and didn't have data on it for about a month. Plus with the Android development coming along smoothly for the Tilt 2, my guess is a very amazing full port will be available within this year. But I would have to agree with urkrnboy90 and say that WM 6.5 is far behind Android, and Android is an amazing OS.
I ran into the same issue about having to upgrade my plan. I told them I would be looking for another providers and they changes their tune real quick and let me add 2 smart phones without having to add the 30.00 a month data plan per line. They need to have a reasonably priced family data plan for smart phones. Sorry but i'm not gonna pay more for my cell phone internet than my home internet. Considering I have a 12mb cabe internet for 50.00 a month. If they can get me that kind of speed or faster for 60.00 a month we can talk then. I love my cell rom v10.1 only fix i needed was the keyboard fix and it runs much better than the stock rom.
I like my tilt 2 but thinking of selling it and getting a HD2.
I started getting the unlimited data for $15 several years ago on my V3i Razr and upgraded to a Palm 750 and then went to a Q9h by then I was not under contract anymore, I then bought a Tilt (ebay) stuck my sim card in it and never looked back. I bought a Tilt2 about 2-3 months ago and so far I havent been charged the $30 "PDA" plan still on the $15 so If I were you I would buy another phone on ebay and stick your old sim card in it and see what happens. I have heard of people doing this and being ok UNTIL they updated another non-smart phone on their plan and it knocked them out from under the grandfather clause, good luck.
Assassin5150, XanderCorp and 03hdfatboy, thanks for the input. I went to the ATT store by my house to just give the Tilt 2 a test run, but unfortunately, they didn't have any on hand. I wanted to get a feel for the phone.
It's interesting because I was on the phone with a Rep and then the Floor Manager for about 30-45 minutes and they were just reading off the cue-cards. I have an old sim-card and even though they give me one of the newer ones, I never put it in my phone. So I am hoping that if put it in another phone, the old sim card won't work like the new ones where they will know which phone I have. Did either of you have the old sim-card?
I have a tilt2 and I am very satisfied with it. I had a touch pro first, and I will say that for some reason that the tiltt 2 is a lot better. and as far as the data plan, it would be easier to just buy the tilt 2 outright and not get a data plan. AT&T is getting ridiculous if I might say so my self
I went from Tilt to Tilt2 (Fuze was garbage) And I love It, but you do have to tweak it a little, remove bloatware, and store all availble on your SD Card, and the Speed is nice, and I'm running Stock Rom and I absolutely Love it, I don't care for the Sense/TouchFlo so I use Mobile Shell ! But overall I'm Satisfied with it, And Will keep it til a good Android is Availble, WM7 is not for me. Oh And Also most of all your TILT programs are compatible with your TILT2 , though I would look for the upgraded ones for a better screen image.
Another positive vote for the Tilt 2.
Stock it can get sluggish but I am using the Energy ROM and OMG this is a new phone all together.
The SPB Shell is also a nice option.
First off, the data plan requirement for smartphones is not exclusive to ATT. Most other carriers require this too. Sure, you don't have to like it. But it seems like the OP is implying that ATT is alone in this policy, when they are not.
Second, I moved from the Tilt to the Tilt2, and the old phone just doesn't compare. Sure, the stock Tilt2 ROM can be sluggish. But the stock ROM on the old Tilt was even more so. I was actually pretty happy with the responsiveness when I upgraded. Also, a lot of tweaking can be done to improve the stock speed. But I eventually went to an Energy ROM, and its just amazing how much faster, more functional, and stable it is now. Not completely mandatory to flash a new ROM, but its a nice option.
And in just about every other respect, the Tilt 2 is far superior. The screen is much larger, higher resolution which makes it just gorgeous. I quite like the form factor (though some complain about the size/weight). Its sleek, sexy, and has a nice feel. Its almost identical in footprint to the iPhone (and competitive smartphones), just thicker since it has a real keyboard (which is a very fair tradeoff). Speaking of which, the keyboard is wonderful. Since the phone is bigger, so is the keyboard, making it even better then the old Tilt. The camera is better than the old Tilt, and the speakerphone is excellent (just about the best on a cell phone).
Bottom line, the Tilt2/TP2/Rhodium is the best smartphone around right now with a hardware keyboard. Windows Mobile has its drawbacks, of course. Especially now that its the "lame duck" of phone OS's until Windows Phone 7 comes out. Plus, the Rhodium is really getting pretty far along in age at this point (I hate to say it). If I was looking for an upgrade right now, I'd be seriously considering an Android phone. That's assuming you can live without a real keyboard, seeing as waiting for new Androids does not seem like an option.
First off, please let me say I know I am NOT supposed to say much about the Tilt2 since I am on Tmo Pro2, but hey, they are pretty much the same thing and I was with AT&T ever since they were Pac Bell until I finally had enough of with their spotty service at my home...they even suggested me to move LMAO This is going to be a rather long post since I am going to try to put my two cents in for a few different replies I've seen...so please forgive me.
Anyway, I had, sorry, have, the Tilt, rock solid phone nonetheless. Much like my Treo 650, the Tilt is like a freaken rock. I remember I did update the ROM before and tried both with all the apps AT&T loaded into the phone and without, not much different between the two. I tweaked the phone with regedit and made it to the way I like it.
I bought my phone right out. Back then, the BS was a bit easier to deal with. Called the first store and they said they had it in-stock (within first week Tilt was out,) went to the store, asked for the phone, the girl asked "Are you going to re-new your contract?" Errr, nope, not planning to (nor did I tell her about the $15 internet plan.) "Oh, the phone was sold out this morning." What? I just called 15 mins ago. Anyway, same story went on for two more stores till I learned to say "yes, I am renewing my contract." My credit card was out almost the same time as they pulled the phone out from the back. Heehee.
At some point last year I finally had enough with their poor services around my house. Thru out a whole month, I was back and forth with their 611. One said it's because I live right next to a police station and their radios are robbing my signal...er...LOL...ok, I didn't know NexTel runs on GSM nor did anyone ever tell me police radio required SIM! One said it was because I wasn't on the $30 PDA plan and she wanted to changed it, which I told her no cause at the time I was on the phone with them I was on an unlocked Samsung candybar. One told me it was handset issue, which I told them nope, cause I have Tero 600, 650, Tilt, Blackjack, unlocked quad bands and non of them get any signal! One said it was because I never turn my phone off to allow the phone a chance to update itself...ha, you turn the phone off and expect it to update itself while it is off? GOOD ONE! One said it was because I had an old SIM and told to go to the store and get a new SIM at no cost to me. Ha, the sales tried to charged me for the SIM until he read whatever there were on his screen. Anyway, to proved them wrong, I called 611 and as we were talking about the signal, my call dropped just when I got near my house. The BS with AT&T, I got a lot horrible stories, still beats the crap out of me as to why I stuck with them for so long. Anyway, what I had learned was that whether old SIM or new, they know what phone you are using. I didn't ask the detail but I think the cell signal itself put out the IMEI number since they read that number back to me when I was using an unlocked quad bands. If you were to call them for any issue and you are paying for the $15 plan instead of the $30 one, try changing your SIM into an older or any candy bar phone a day or two before you actually call AT&T. Unless you darn sure it's "handset" issue, otherwise, there isn't much of a need for them to know which phone you are using. Anyway, I did it like that thru out my Tero, Blackjack, Tilt and all the way till I canceled my account with them. I don't even remember how long my contract had been gone.
Anyway, I waited too long for the them to push the Tilt2 to the market plus all the bad services I went thru with their 611, so I left.
Speaking from using Pro2, I don't have much complain. RegEdit pretty much made it work the way I want it to. Would I go back to my Tilt? Nah. Tilt is a really great phone, I love it so much to the phone I didn't even bother to look at any other phone as long as they can't tilt! Hey, the tilt part of the Tilt can get to ya! But as tech moving forward, the phone is stuck in the past. There are a lot Tilt2 or Pro2 can offer that Tilt can't really match up. Now, I know it's not the best compare you can do, but try stopping by Tmo store, most of them, even the some in the middle of the mall have the Pro2 sitting there with the battery and SIM in. Give it a try...I haven't get a change to play with Tilt2, so please, for all you Tilt2 users out there, BE EASY on me if you gonna beat me up for my comments I know Tmo Pro2 is running on a lot less preloaded apps than the Tilt2...gosh, I can only imagine how much apps AT&T preloaded in it since they did that to Tilt. But serious, it's the WinMo 6.5 you are going to test out...
Anyway, good luck.
If you buy it fully out right they can't make you do ****
I have a Fuze, a Tilt 2 and an iPhone. Among them all I think fuze is the most well build phone I've ever had, it just has that feel of solidity when you hold it, and the magnetic stylus tip just screams for quality.
I dont do too much sms, so I haven't really used the hardware keyboard on the tilt2 as much, but when I do use it, it really shines. It's way better than the Fuze keyboard or any BB keyboards.
I would say go for the Tilt 2, you wont regret it, but you do need to flash to a new ROM, cus the stock Rom is pretty darn slow...
AT&T 3G
Do you know of an HD2 that's compatilble with US AT&T 3G?

If I were you I would get the unlimited data plan if you still can. USA today just recently said ATT is getting rid of their unlimited plans for 14.99 for 200mb or $25.99 for 2GB. So if you don't sign up for unlimited now, you will never get it with ATT again. Plus they dumped their prepay deal so they pretty much suck now. I'm not gonna run a credit check for a $40 bill each month. So I switched to Tmobile with my ATT Tilt(1). Well turns out Tmobile runs on a different band then everyone else so to use 3G with Tmobile you have to have an actual Tmobile branded phone. Was planning on going back to ATT with the unlimited data then stumbled onto a slightly scratched up Tmobile Touch Pro 2 for $150. Snatched it up and livin the good Tmobile life. Turns out here Tmobile 3G is 10 times better then ATT. Even where guys are sleeping with their cousins I still get a strong 3G signal. And finally this happened at work which was funny as hell. My coworker has an iphone and ATT 3G. We have a lil cell phone war. I start up my youtube and show HD youtube as good as your desktop. He runs his youtube and it looks all crappy and low res. He then claims its because he's on 3G and if he were on wifi it would look as good as mine. Well I hooked up my 3G into a wifi router and damned if he wasn't right. His youtube was in HD when he was using my tmobile 3g conn. on his wifi iphone. Thought it would make a great Tmobile 3G war commercial. Lesson is all those maps and 3g speeds don't mean jack when you provider is limiting what you can do on your phone.

Probably the LEO or international HD2 and not the Tmobile branded one.
I am happy with my Tilt2, I am using the cell rom. my phone kept its stock rom just long enought for me to get it home and flash it, I upgraded from the Tilt to the Tilt2, the phone is overall better, I just wish it had the flash like the Touch Pro.
Hmm. Thanks for all the input everyone.
So I was debating between the Tilt2 or the Bold 9700. Both phones will cost me $50 to get brand new so price isn't an issue. My main issue was no data + e-mail. I want a phone that works wonders with e-mail because that is the reason I need a smartphone.
After setting my heart to the 9700 and being very close to committing to it, I hear all this stuff about how you can't access Blackberry's e-mail (i.e. push e-mail) w/o a date plan because of ATT, RIM, and other providers requiring it. This brings me back to square one because the phone loses some of its spark if I can't have access to RIM's amazing e-mail client. Let's face it, outside of the e-mail, Blackberrys don't really get a lot of praise for the OS.
So for those of you who use Tilt2's e-mail, how is that? After reading so many responses, I am back to 50/50 or 60/40 in favor of the Tilt2. If all it takes is a ROM flash, then I don't have too much problems with that. But can you get push e-mail to the Tilt2?
you can actually get two push email on TP2, one for windows live and you can setup another one with outlook.
The only thing TP2 lacks is a little speed bump and flash light for camera.
I'm fully satisfied with my TP2, though I'm gonna import an HTC Desire from australia which works on AT&T's 3g band. After heavy research over the past few month, I feel android is the ultimate os that suits me the best..
Sorry if this sounds silly. But I switched to sprint 4 days ago from ATT, and I was really expecting good things. But to be honest, it's been pretty ugly. I mean I love the phone, but the network has been nearly terrible. I was getting much better speeds before I switched (and I left an unlimited plan). Now I'm kinda freaked because I have 10 days to cancel, but even if I do I don't think I can get my unlimited back (although maybe tmobile I could idk).
Anyway, seems like many of you have been with Sprint for years and idk if maybe you have seen issues like this before with new phones or what. So if you have, did things get better? How long did it take? Because right now I really feel like I made a mistake.
Sprint is doing a network upgrade which will bring faster speeds to the network. Because they are working on the network, you experience slow speeds. I don't know how long it will take them to finish it but it's going to be worth the wait imo. Sprint is making good strides but you just have to be patient

Yeah, just hope it's not like the highway by my house that's been getting repaired for 3 years.
It's understandable to be worried, but I would not get yourself too worked up. Network upgrade strategies are suspected to be announced on Oct. 7th and should be deployed rather quickly if Sprint is to stay afloat with the barrage of data hungry iPhone customers they will acquire... that is, if they have any idea of what they are getting themselves into.
You have yourself an absolutely amazing phone. I would say stick with AT&T or Verizon if you're in an area that's very rural and gets little to no signal, no doubt.
If you're really having doubts so bad that they're keeping you up at night, you are probably better off with canceling your contract within your grace period and resigning after upgrade plans are finalized. This phone is on AT&T as well, so if you were happier with them, that might be a better option for you.
If I had att unlimited Id stay and get their galaxy s 2
Yeah, only thing is I don't really think going back to ATT is really possible since I'm going to lose unlimited. I really probably have to stick it out or go to Tmobile. The signal at my house is not all that bad, but the signal where I need it the most is where I work (when I tether). And that is not very good, but I guess it's passable (i'm on it right now). I just really thought it was going to be a big boost and it's not.

Sprint is unlimited... for now.
I've always been a huge advocate for Sprint and I've literally converted almost my entire family and group of friends to Sprint. Unfortunately, the iPhone has a way of dramatically changing a carrier's business model (as seen by their recent wave of changes to their service contract).

I hate to give you even more bad advice but in most areas t mobile is at the very bottom. If sprint is giving you a hard time then t mobile is going to be a few steps in the wrong direction. I am thinking that the network upgrade will be a long wait.

So, I am currently in the market for a new phone because I am sick of how HTC treats their customers. I was wondering if you guys thought jumping on the Galaxy Nexus would still be a good idea even though the Sg3 is out.
The Sg3 looks amazing, but it is kind of out of my price range with the average price being $400. I have found a few Nexus' anywhere from $200-250 which is more my style. The thing that worries me though is that it is already close to a year old and I know the minute I purchase one the next greatest phone will be out.
Does anyone know when the next Nexus phone will be out? I am due for an upgrade around March, but would really like to jump to a 4g phone before then.
What do you guys think? Stay with the inc2, grab a Nexus, or just wait until I can get something with my upgrade?
Any ideas?
I've had an upgrade since July I was going to get the sg3 but when I found out it was dual core it turned me off BC I was stoked for quad. Then I was going to get the inc4g, but I hate sense and I'm tired of HTC. I was close to getting the gnex on Saturday for $50 from best buy, but like you said its already a year old plus the 5mp camera is kinda iffy for me especially since the og Inc had an 8mp back in 2010! I'm going to wait for the galaxy note 2 coming out soon 1.6 quad core 2gigs ram super HD amoled running JB
I was considering a SG3 as well, or the GNEX, but I am currently satisfied with the Inc2 at the moment and will way my options when I am ready for a new device. I am curious if anyone has tested out any of these phones and had any opinions as well. I have not "upgraded" since they got away from unlimited data, so I am still grandfathered in and not sure if I will sign a new contract or just purchase the phone. The 4g is not a big issue with me as Big Red has not brought it to our area yet, and probably wont see it anytime soon.
Maybe I will wait for the Note 2 as well. My friend has the SG3 and the screen on it is beautiful. The one thing about the Note which I am unsure about is the stylus. I don't know how I feel about that. It's not like that is a big deal breaker for me, just something I'm unsure about. I have had 4g in my area since it has been released, for the most part, so I def want to go 4g. I am worried I will lose my unlimited, which is why I was starting to look for 4g now.
Samsung does make a great looking phone though. Colors are so vibrant on them. When the Note 2 comes out, is it supposed to be better than SG3 or is that phone still going to be considered the best?

It's not HTC's fault. They already gave the OTA to vzw a while ago. It's big red's fault for not releasing the goddamn update already because they need to bloat the **** out of it before they can be satisfied.
Because he's the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So, we'll hunt him, because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent guardian. A watchful protector. A Dark Knight.

The stylus to me is just an accessory. You can function the phone without it. If I use my upgrade I will lose unlimited, but I'm only using 1.3 gigs a month. Not to mention my $200 phone bill and 2 unused phone lines. So upgrading will cancel unlimited data but I'll be saving $100+ dollars a month with my military discount. There's no real reason to use 4gig+ of data so I wouldn't worry about losing unlimited. Unlimited data users probably are getting throttled anyway. The note 2 is going to be a supercharged s3. Check out the specs on both http://www.autoomobile.com/news/samsung-galaxy-note-2-vs-s3-4/1003595/
My only problem is whether to stay on Verizon or not. The Verizon version of the note2 is going to have the Verizon brand on the home button! I can't believe that. I'm super satisfied with my inc2 only BC I rooted. But the lack of ota is troubling. This phone isn't that old

Do you know of a way to check the actual data usage without calling up Verizon? I also just did watch a few videos of the Note 2 being used and all I can say is WOW. This phone looks like it is going to be a pure beast. Also, you are right about the stylus being an accessory. After watching this video with it in use, I think I completely changed my opinion on it.
This is the video I just watched:

I only have 2 options for cellular service, Verizon or Cell One because I live in a small town. I have been with Verizon since probably 2004, switching from Sprint when I lived in Atlanta GA. I have never had an issue with them as far as service quality, prices are a bit high but I will pay for them as long as I have good service. As for the Inc 2 I will probably use it for another year or so before I consider switching, unless something happens to it before then. I have only been using mine for about 3 months or so and paid $75 for it from an acquaintance of mine that upgraded to the RazrMaxx.

I am from New Jersey love the service I get from Verizon. I have yet to go someplace that doesn't give me great service (unless I'm in a basement with no windows or something similar). As for other services, I have just about everything you can find in my area and from having friends I pretty much see everyone leave all other to come to Verizon. AT&T is the only one that can compete with Verizon in my area, but the only people I know that have that service is the Iphone users. For $75 you can't go wrong with this phone. It is def a great phone and aside from the lack of updates and no 4g that is my only complaint.
Nitsua, you say Big Red has the OTA and I have heard that before also, but how true is it? Is Verizon keeping the OTA secret because they are bloating it up or do they actually not have it? We may never know the truth until it is either released or they come out and say that the OTA will not be coming. Of course, I hope it comes, but I feel myself slowly getting sick and tired of the wait, especially since they promised up end of Aug. and now we are a week from October.
Yes, They have been late on phones before, but from my research, this is the longest they have gone after missing a date which really angers me towards both HTC and Verizon.

Verizon has it. How else would you guys have your ics leak . They have to perfect it though and make sure that there are no bugs. Also since it's an older device that not many people have, they are setting their focus on other phones.

I'm not too bothered by not getting the ICS OTA honestly. There are plenty of ICS ROMs that are functional enough for me to use. I'll just stick it out until I can upgrade in July, 2013 and either upgrade or switch carriers. Who knows what phones will be out by then?

Play store has a VZW app for usage.
I have a droid bionic just sittin here. I may use that, but with that remote phone wipe hack I may just forget about it.The hack doesn't seem to affect the INC2.
my upgrade isn't till may. Depending on the inc4g, i will purchase it if its s-off. Otherwise, I think i'll be getting the SGSIII. My next phone has to be unlocked someway.
I'm really diggin the xperia phones. And it looks like most of them are getting ics in the next couple weeks. The ion is free on the us sony site.
Depends what's out by August 2013
