Unlikely (for now). We would need another MDPI device with Sense to receive a 2.2 update (Hero, Aria, Legend) or do lots of unnecessary work (Froyo Espresso i coming out this month most likely).
Try #TeamFenix 1.7 or Eugene's MYFROYO5.zip, both are excellent CM6 ports that run much faster than Sense.
Faster than Sense? I have yet to try a Slide ROM that is faster than stock expresso, seriously.

Huh? Are you serious? Have you tried the latest CM6 nightlies? They are *way* faster than stock espresso. Stock espresso is sluggish as hell, especially with Sense UI and that stupid "recent items" status bar pulldown display. Ugh.

You have got to be kidding. TeamFenix 1.7 is pretty fast and so is Eugene's Port. I love them but they dont have bluetooth audio yet. I know it seems silly but its a deal breaker for me as of now.

A clean install of CM6 8/10/10 nightly was noticeably slower than Espresso with all my apps. I think it may just be ADW. I HATE ADW Launcher. Has anyone used stock froyo launcher at all (like N1)? Is it any faster than ADW?

ADW.Launcher *is* a 'stock' launcher when you disable all the extended functionality... Just disable the action buttons, screen previews and all the other stuff.

ADW Launcher is faster, smaller, and in general speedier than the Froyo Launcher2.apk
Maybe you should close some applications?

SMR2 is just as fast as MYFROYO5. MYFROYO5 browser does not even come close to Espresso browser. MYFROYO5 camera/camcorder functionality is nowhere near the quality of Espresso's. Vignette covers my camera needs but the browser just plain sucks on MYFROYO5. Benchmarks definitely demonstrate huge performance increases with MYFROYO5 but somehow it doesn't seem to make a "real world" difference. Love the CM contacts and messaging but I don't mind the Espresso versions all that much. Sure love running MYFROYO5 and having great devs in the community that make it possible to do so. Going to keep MYFROYO5 on my device for a week ... gotta give it some time. Looking forward to an Espresso Froyo.

I'm staying open to MYFROYO5 and I'm going to get a #TeamFenix 1.7 "setup" going as well so I can do a comparison. I think I'm way to familiar with the Espresso experience to fairly asses these great Froyo builds. Just glad that devs are still putting the effort and time into ROM's for our devices.
Ya need to try Aria sense rom-its faster than any nonsence rom period and its 2.1,why its so fast?I have no idea, only thing that keeps me from using it is that you cant install apps from uknown sources(att restriction).

You all need to chill. The guy wants a Sense ROM with 2.2, and you're all telling him that he DOESN'T want that. You're just as bad as some of the sales people at T-Mobile, telling people what they do and don't want when they know what they want.
Personally, I can't do without the integrated social networking in the phone. I've tried running CM's builds and such and I just can't do it, especially with the facebook contact sync broken and lack of the integrated friend stream, which is what this guy wants.
Just because you all can do without those things doesn't mean that other people are so quick to give them up.

You can run it on 2.1, but there's no 2.2 ROM that we can port sense from...
I know its personal preference, but I can't imagine why anyone would want to. The 2.1 version that ran Sense was dog slow and very buggy. IMO, even at it's best, Sense will slow down any system.

Bingo. I think acl is trying to get a ROM from the Desire ported with 2.2/senseui... but I'm sure it'll be slow as heck.
If Android was consistently smooth & quick, then maybe more attention would be given to this cause, but if on a basic level there are still issues... you can't expect something as advanced (and proprietary!) as SenseUI to work well or at all.
But you make a good point. If you want sense, run the rosie 2.1 builds

in my opinion the best thing for our phone should be 1.6+sense (1.6 is blazin fast) or 2.2+sense,eclair is slower
Anyone want to attempt to port "goapk froyo sense 2.2.1" from HTC HERO? I have somewhat successfully ported a HERO rom from CM FRF91 to HTC Fuze but I'm trying to work on 2.1 Espresso port to ext2 right now.
Might try goapk froyo again later.

He's talking about the 2.1 build. It was still sqshfs, he's talking about converting the sqsh file to ext2...
I don't see any mention of 2.2...
I don't think it would matter. All the reading's i've done say Sense based xdandroid build's are a fair bit slower. I've personally used 1.6 android with sense, well before i started using 2.2, and i agree it was much more laggy (like a second's or more when selecting something, and also when flipping through different screen's, and sense tabs.
I wouldn't bother. Granted i LOVE sense on my touch pro, i would recommend to use the one's HTC makes (they might not SAY they did, but undeniably look identical) offered on the Market, and are pretty cheap actually. I was thinking about buying a couple, but saw some free ones that aren't THAT much difference in looks for free.
I would like to see Sense added to 2.2 if it's not hurting speed and lag though for SURE, but the 1.6 i tried for a week i stopped right away cause it was unbearable to use anymore.
The problem is that including HTC sense widgets would be illegal and infringing on htc's copyright on those widgets/design..
Well, it's no different then the available Android 1.6 w/ Sense that's been around for a while here. Not that i am agreeing on it being right or wrong of course. Course that's kind of why i was mentioning about the FREE alternatives, to avoid that debate.

If it counts, I actually converted mine (converted the sqshfs to ext2; used an app jesusfreak mentioned when I first got on irc) but I'm not 100% sure it works
To be honest, I'm not looking for any specific aside from the launcher ( maybe ) or the theme. It ( not talking about the converted sqshfs ) was working or so I thought. I'll have to break out my 4GB microSD and extract what I had working to tell you for sure what I have working and what-not.
I have the link saved on my laptop and will be happy to share this when I get back on my computer, I'm at work currently.

So I am using Myn's Rom right now and sense. I do like how everything looks as of right now but when I checked the linpack scores I was only getting 29 MFlops.
Its not a big deal but some people are getting 50/49MFlops
So is Sense really bloatware and slowing down the phone? Should I go back to LauncherPro, ar ADW
Are people just turning up the CPU just to do this test? Etc?
Again Im not too worried since my phone is running smooth, I was just asking

you can jsut run a script to remove them yes. It wont make a huge impact on your performance as said before. it may make a small diffrence since some of the apps used to run in the background and no longer can but you wont see much change.
the main benefit of removing them is freeing up space. if youa rent using sense and the htc widgets and all the sprint crap etc it is jsut taking up room that could be used for better stuff.
anyway see signature for a link to my script and the app regaw made so you can easily edit it to your prefrence.

If your phone is running smooth and you are happy with sense then no reason to get rid of it. Me I find aosp roms like cyanogens better. I like the clean look of stock android and none of the bloat of sense. The only way to really get rid of sense is to flash a rom that was built from the ground up without any sense built in. Most of the custom roms you'll find here are actually based on sense and will have parts of it in the core.
Ok, I want to give the Cyanogen ROM a go, but I want to know which is better with your opinions, and since I'm on a Sense ROM at the moment, if I did a nand backup, wiped etc, flashed Cyanogen and found it difficult to get used to, would I be able to go back with just a nand restore?
Thank You

Wow! Is it really that much better?? So what exactly do gain or lose with Cyanogen comparing to Sense? I know Cyanogen is a lot cleaner/lighter and therefore faster than Sense; and you get DSP Manager but lose Dolby Mobile and SRS; you'll have ADW/Launcher Pro and of course lose the Sense UI...what else??

I see. In that case, how does a custom Sense ROM + a custom kernel compare to a Cyanogen ROM with the same custom kernel? I guess the later would be quicker due to it's lighter?

Yes, I'd like to understand the differences as well.
Apart form some enthusiastic but not very informative "CM blows Sense to sh1t!" statements, I haven't seen any clear explanation of what the benefits of CM are? If it is simply the removal of Sense then that is a subjective improvement. Coming from a Magic (on CM) I know that many people over there spent their efforts getting Sense to work on that handset. Personally, I like Sense, it is clean and has a number of useful or flashy widgets and with the hardware of the DHD it is smooth and fast. I've rooted my DHD to Leedroid (mainly because I can't stop tinkering) but I'm holding from CM much as i liked it on the Magic because I just can't see the advantages..
Maybe someone could explain them for the more nooby amongst us?
Can you have more/less screens?
Can you organise you apps? Hide them?
Landscape home?
A list would be nice.
Personally, I like HTC Sense because it's clean and has uniformity as a UI. But if I have time spend 80% of my phone/device just customizing the UI again and again rather than using it then I would go for Cyanogen.

Yep. Just tried CM6 and whilst there is nothing wrong with it all, and it is possibly faster than stock, I just can't be ar$ed with tweaking all the settings to get the phone to have a bit of uniformity in its looks and operation.
Sense might be a bit bloated, but you don't need to use it and on the DHD it runs fine.
I think it is more of a aesthetic thing than anything else.
what is the best sense 3.0 rom? and where do you find it.. and is there instructions for it as well..

OK there's no "best" rom because each developer is different and every person like different things so you just have to do your homework start downloading and flashing different roms and you will see the one that's the "best" for you.

Unrevoked3 or Unrevoked Forever? I've never messed with the latter but all it does is switch S-On to S-Off.

Use caution and do some research before jumping right into all of this hacking and modding. You can really mess your phone up if you don't know what you're doing. (Not saying you don't, this is a "just in case" lol)
Also, I have only used it on PC but I doubt there's much of a difference.
I was wondering if the Sense 3.0 roms that have Gingerbread, are they using the same Gingerbread that we got from the OTA? Or are they using a ported Gingerbread?

I believe they are using a ported GB since most ROMs were made prior to the OTA. They may update their ROMs with the official one over time.

I think we were all nervous our first time, but it's really not that hard. Here's a video tutorial. Granted, he's using a Mac lol

Search YouTube or Google for other tutorials if you want to make sure.
I was wondering if most of these ROMs could even handle 3.0 or 3.5 on the Incredible, like does it lag or force close? Because I heard to run 3.0 good you need to have a Dual-Core processor.

The ROMs with 3.0 ported from the Desire run very smooth. Other than that they run a little laggy, but not bad.
I'm running Sense 3.5 ported from the Bliss at the moment. It's not too laggy but not as snappy as it could be had it been made for a single core device. There's a 3.5 leak which was built for a 1.5ghz phone floating around that may spawn some new ROMs for our beloved Incredible.
EDIT: Not five minutes after I posted this, look what I came across: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1262492
Why are some of these ROMs not on the list?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=969371
Another thing which ROM would be better for a person like me? All I want is a new version of Sense and for it to run smoothly and not cause me trouble.

or
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1175842
Which do you know is faster? Are any of the two based on the Incredibles 2.3 update? Or its a ported 2.3?

The list just may not be updated yet.
As for the two linked to, I have used both and found that Desired Inc runs smoother than Nils' Business Gingersense 3.0. HOWEVER, I would strongly recommend you check out Nils' Business Gingersense 2.1/3.0. It has elements of both versions of Sense and is amazing. It's FAST, has a ton of features, stable, and is very pleasing to the eyes. By far my favorite ROM.

What do you mean it has elements of both versions? So its basically 2.1 but themed like 3.0?
And how about http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1253271 that ROM how does it compare to the Desired Inc ROM/Gingersence 2.1/3.0?

His 2.1/3.0 hybrid has 3.0 widgets and apps whereas the ROM itself is built on a 2.1 base. (I think, don't quote me on it) Either way, it's a damn good ROM.
I've never used Ace Revolution. Nearly everything Joelz puts out gets high praise so you can try it. Some have reported losing root but that can be fixed by restoring an old backup.
