Phone keeps rebooting at Droid video - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

OK I seriously messed up something. All I can do now is get into hboot, but not recovery. Any hope in saving my phone?

Without telling us anything about what you did to get into this state, it's going to be hard helping you get out of it.

What he said, Look for the pb31img.zip that contains a stock build. Copy it to root of SD card, boot phone into Hboot and let the zip run.

What are you trying to do?
I'm not sure what your goals were by flashing the PC36IMG you chose too, that is a stock build. Before you do things with your phone, make sure you do aloooooooooooot of reading/forum surfing to make sure you are doing what you want.
Go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715915 and download this PC36IMG.zip and then flash that...it will leave you with a a rooted (albeit w/out superuser which you can download separately) 1.47 build (upgrade to current radio/wimax/rom from there)

Is it not loading the PC36IMG.zip at all? Your memory card needs to be an SDHC or it wont load the PC36IMG.zip.

Flashing the file you did will not upgrade your PRI. This is noted in the thread where it is available for download. Flash the PC36IMG from the thread I showed you that should work.

[Q] Original stock rom update.zip file

Hey I need some help. I have been trying to reformat my phone with the original stock ROM but I cannot get the RUU to work. Every time that I try to use the RUU executable file to reinstall the original ROM it can't detect my phone. I really need help with this my phone is incapacitated right now. If someone could help me find a rom that I could use here that would be fantastic. Thanks
what happened that your phone is not working? are you rooted, s-off? what rom where u on b4?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
It is S-Off and I am not sure if it is still rooted. I have been switching back and forth from the cyanogen mod and the stock rom, and I tried doing a system restore on the stock rom and it didn't really change anything but I don't think it can do root things anymore. It has been asking me to do a system update but every time I try to install it it fails.

Your failed update is probably due to your still having a modified recovery.
Something that could work for you:
>run the .exe for the RUU, then minimize it.
>start/run/type "%temp%" in the dialog box.
>search the output for rom.zip
>move the rom.zip to your sdcard and run it from hboot.
this should go through the rom installation and restore your rom. it's worked a couple times for me when I messed up recoveries.
Good luck!
BTW do you have HTC sync installed on your computer? not having that might be missing the driver for your phone.....just a thought
I tried extracting rom.zip out of the temp directory but the file was corrupted. Maybe the RUU doesn't work at all? I don't know. If you can get me a rom.zip that isn't corrupted that would be fantastic. Thanks!

Make sure SD card is formatted to fat32. Rename it so it is PB31IMG.zip(If on Windows and have fileextensions turned off rename it PB31IMG. The .zip will already be added.)
Put on root of SD card meaning not in any folders and boot into hboot. The phone will ask you to update, select yes and wait for it to ask you if you want to reboot.

To get s-on you need to have CW recovery. Wish you would have mentioned this before. You need to flash clockwork recovery again then apply the s-on. Then re run the previous PB31IMG.
Wow this is so freaking nuts. Ok so I tried running the S-ON .zip file that they provide using CW Recovery. Problem is now unrEVOked forever doesn't support my radio, radio-1.00.00.02.09. I will try to contact them unless you all have another idea. Thanks for your help so far!
If your still s-off you can flash a supported radio through Hboot much like the get back to stock PB31IMG you just ran. But if you ran the one I provided earlier you should be on a .92 hboot and a 2.15.00.07.28 radio, which is supported for s-on.
Here, download one of the ones that S-ON if compatible with and put it on the root of your sd card, and boot into hboot. Be sure its called PB31IMG.zip, or else it won't work.

Ok so I tried updating to a radio compatible with the unrEVOked S-ON update. When I try to run the file the recovery screen blacks out and then goes back to the main menu. It doesn't give me any output as to why that happened or if it even did anything.
You should flash RUUs from within HBOOT, not Recovery. An RUU includes everything from radio, to ROM, to recovery.
You can still do this with S-ON, since it is signed.
I'm not on the RUU I know how to install that. I need to use the S-ON .zip file that i got from unrevoked.com

You don't flash radios in recovery you flash radios in HBOOT. Make sure you rename the file to the proper filename then it should automatically detect it and install it.
Again like I said before, if you simply install the RUU from within HBOOT that would revert everything back to stock including the radio. Then you could run S-ON from within the stock recovery. But if you want to do it the other way so that you run the S-ON patch from within ClockWork that's fine too.
Haha well i have not explained things properly so let me explain where I am at right now very clearly.
Right now I have HBOOT updated using an RUU with a radio that unrEVOked forever works with. I have rooted and installed Clockwork Recovery. Now, I go to install the S-ON using Clockwork and then the screen blacks out and it returns to the Clockwork main menu without giving me any output.
Hopefully that clears things up
Ok sorry I thought you had trouble flashing the radio.
Yes I do believe the S-ON patch is installed within recovery, I just did it a few days ago and it worked fine. I was using the 7.28 radio. I believe I just did a normal .zip install in clockwork.
This sounds stupid, but make sure you're not pushing the power button. In ClockWork you have to push the optical pad to make selections, it's unlike HBOOT. I can't think of anything else.

Returning damaged phone, need to unroot?

I got a replacement for my EVO. Do I need to unroot and put back RUU? or just factory wipe and send it in back?
Anyone know or any advice.
Run the RUU. Best bet.

Does the RUU unroot? or i have to do that as well. I was just going to flash the RUU.zip?
Just download the .zip, rename it to PC36IMG.zip, drop it on your SD card, and boot into hboot. It will completely wipe your data from the phone, and un-root it.

Yup, it's just that easy. It will replace your hboot, recovery, radio and restore the factory rom so the phone will be just like it was when it came out of the box the first time you turned it on.
Easy.

So I rooted my replacement but noticed that there are 3 lines on the right side running down the screen. So bad pixels or something.
Whatever I did to root doesn't seem to have unrooted hboot if that makes sense? I was able to load a custom rom on it but haven't been able to get PC36IMG.zip to be read by hboot. Keeps saying no image.
The EVO I am currently using, i know it's hboot is older and works but not sure why this new one won't.
All in all, do you know what I need to do to get this to read your RUU? I downloaded the RUU_SuperSonic_S_Sprint_WWE_3.70.651.1_Radio_2.15.00.11.19_NV_1.90_release_161482_signed.zip
as that matches my phones settings. Renamed that to PC36IMG.zip and hboot doesn't read it.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

what it means is, you shouldn't be messing with your phone without doing some reading and learning before messing with it.
but since i'm a nice guy i'll help you out...
"root of the sd card" means put it on the main directory of it... ie, if you are in windows and the sd card is the e: drive, put it on e: not a folder on e:.
Actually I would get the most up to date RUU that has been leaked.. 3.02.605.1... since it is from HTC it is signed by them and will flash in your bootloader with out needing to be rooted.
download this .zip
http://www.multiupload.com/RHYMY84TIN
rename the .zip to PG32IMG.zip you MUST spell this correctly and put it on the root of your sd card(just on the card, in no folder) turn off fast boot in settings under power.. shut down phone, boot into bootloader by holding volume down and power and follow the instructions on the screen. This will get you up to date..
Umm I tried it but.. it says wrong image...from the the bootloader screen... huhuhuhu

Maybe you need to find a real RUU .exe file not a .zip and get the rom.zip for it and re-name that to PG32IMG.zip.. you need to talk to Jcase he knows more than I do, but I was under the impression that since it is an RUU from HTC it should flash in even if S-ON.
also make sure you have the correct format of your SD-Card. fat32.
Thank you guys for the help and support.,
I did try to download that link and rename and put it on my sd card directly, renamed it. Power down went to boot loader screen .,I clicked on Fastboot-Bootloader and it says wrong image., and nothing happend..., it just went back to fastboot screen. sigh..... My phone is hopeless i guess... huhuhu
How should I format my sd card? to the correct 1?
uMM., mY sd card. has the correct format when i look into its properties FAT32 , I used the first leak .exe not the .zip ., maybe thats why i wont work... ., can u help me find .exe i guess? And how can i get in touch with Jcase? .Thanks.
I do know one thing, I received my replacement Dinc2 for my Fascinate with .4 on it. I used the RUU to downgrade to .3 . I wonder if an exploit in .3 for rooting was patched in the release version of .4

Wrong image indicates that the file you renamed PG32IMG.zip is not a valid ROM.zip file. Did you simply copy the RUU to the SD card and rename it? If so, that is your problem. You need to extract the ROM.zip from the RUU and rename that to PG32IMG.zip
I already renamed it., but it always says "No,wrong image" PG32IMG.zip .,
I already extracted it and it became a folder named PG32IMG.zip , I tried to go to boot loader and still nothing happend. Do i Have to place the contents of the folder dierectly to the sd card? Im so confused ., sorry. and Thank you.

Generally, you need to do three things before you turn S-ON.
1. (YOU PROBABLY ALREADY DONE THIS SO YOU CAN SKIP). You need to flash a custom recovery. You can use the same PC36IMG file that I gave you the first time.
2. You need to downgrade your radio (baseband only). Use the file from this link.
http://www.mediafire.com/?xlhm124ur4bnxln
Flash this file from your recovery and let it do its thing. Also, it is very important not to pull the battery during the flash, or it is a sure way to brick your phone permanently.
3. Then try the S-ON tool again.
Your phone may likely still read S-OFF. In that case, you will also need to update with the attached PC36IMG file (once you change the name) to turn S-ON.
Next you will need this PC36IMG file (once you change the name) to finish the unroot.

If that didn't work, then go to this link to download the fastboot drivers, then install them to your computer.
http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/revolutionary
Boot your phone into the operating system, plug the phone to your computer, then turn on USB Debugging under Applications/Development.
Then download the RUU to your computer from this link
http://www.fileserve.com/file/TzDP8Je
Turn off the phone, then hold the volume down + power buttons at the same time. Hit the power button once the phone powers up and FASTBOOT is highlighted. It should now read FASTBOOT USB in red. Run the RUU from your computer and see if this works.
