The new clockwork uses .tar instead of .img files like the old one, so it wont detect old backups, all you need to do is downgrade to version 3 again and it'll detect your backup
What radio version do you have?

You need the attached file to downgrade clockwork.
Place it on the root of your SD card, then boot into your bootloader (volume down + power button) and accept the update.

Generally, you need to do three things before you turn S-ON.
1. (YOU PROBABLY ALREADY DONE THIS SO YOU CAN SKIP). You need to flash a custom recovery. You can use the same PC36IMG file that I gave you the first time.
2. You need to downgrade your radio (baseband only). Use the file from this link.
http://www.mediafire.com/?xlhm124ur4bnxln
Flash this file from your recovery and let it do its thing. Also, it is very important not to pull the battery during the flash, or it is a sure way to brick your phone permanently.
3. Then try the S-ON tool again.
Your phone may likely still read S-OFF. In that case, you will also need to update with the attached PC36IMG file (once you change the name) to turn S-ON.
Next you will need this PC36IMG file (once you change the name) to finish the unroot.

If that didn't work, then go to this link to download the fastboot drivers, then install them to your computer.
http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/revolutionary
Boot your phone into the operating system, plug the phone to your computer, then turn on USB Debugging under Applications/Development.
Then download the RUU to your computer from this link
http://www.fileserve.com/file/TzDP8Je
Turn off the phone, then hold the volume down + power buttons at the same time. Hit the power button once the phone powers up and FASTBOOT is highlighted. It should now read FASTBOOT USB in red. Run the RUU from your computer and see if this works.
how do you run the RUU from the computer?

Hey I need some help. I have been trying to reformat my phone with the original stock ROM but I cannot get the RUU to work. Every time that I try to use the RUU executable file to reinstall the original ROM it can't detect my phone. I really need help with this my phone is incapacitated right now. If someone could help me find a rom that I could use here that would be fantastic. Thanks
what happened that your phone is not working? are you rooted, s-off? what rom where u on b4?

It is S-Off and I am not sure if it is still rooted. I have been switching back and forth from the cyanogen mod and the stock rom, and I tried doing a system restore on the stock rom and it didn't really change anything but I don't think it can do root things anymore. It has been asking me to do a system update but every time I try to install it it fails.

Your failed update is probably due to your still having a modified recovery.
Something that could work for you:
>run the .exe for the RUU, then minimize it.
>start/run/type "%temp%" in the dialog box.
>search the output for rom.zip
>move the rom.zip to your sdcard and run it from hboot.
this should go through the rom installation and restore your rom. it's worked a couple times for me when I messed up recoveries.
Good luck!
BTW do you have HTC sync installed on your computer? not having that might be missing the driver for your phone.....just a thought
I tried extracting rom.zip out of the temp directory but the file was corrupted. Maybe the RUU doesn't work at all? I don't know. If you can get me a rom.zip that isn't corrupted that would be fantastic. Thanks!

Make sure SD card is formatted to fat32. Rename it so it is PB31IMG.zip(If on Windows and have fileextensions turned off rename it PB31IMG. The .zip will already be added.)
Put on root of SD card meaning not in any folders and boot into hboot. The phone will ask you to update, select yes and wait for it to ask you if you want to reboot.

To get s-on you need to have CW recovery. Wish you would have mentioned this before. You need to flash clockwork recovery again then apply the s-on. Then re run the previous PB31IMG.
Wow this is so freaking nuts. Ok so I tried running the S-ON .zip file that they provide using CW Recovery. Problem is now unrEVOked forever doesn't support my radio, radio-1.00.00.02.09. I will try to contact them unless you all have another idea. Thanks for your help so far!
If your still s-off you can flash a supported radio through Hboot much like the get back to stock PB31IMG you just ran. But if you ran the one I provided earlier you should be on a .92 hboot and a 2.15.00.07.28 radio, which is supported for s-on.
Here, download one of the ones that S-ON if compatible with and put it on the root of your sd card, and boot into hboot. Be sure its called PB31IMG.zip, or else it won't work.

Ok so I tried updating to a radio compatible with the unrEVOked S-ON update. When I try to run the file the recovery screen blacks out and then goes back to the main menu. It doesn't give me any output as to why that happened or if it even did anything.
You should flash RUUs from within HBOOT, not Recovery. An RUU includes everything from radio, to ROM, to recovery.
You can still do this with S-ON, since it is signed.
I'm not on the RUU I know how to install that. I need to use the S-ON .zip file that i got from unrevoked.com

You don't flash radios in recovery you flash radios in HBOOT. Make sure you rename the file to the proper filename then it should automatically detect it and install it.
Again like I said before, if you simply install the RUU from within HBOOT that would revert everything back to stock including the radio. Then you could run S-ON from within the stock recovery. But if you want to do it the other way so that you run the S-ON patch from within ClockWork that's fine too.
Haha well i have not explained things properly so let me explain where I am at right now very clearly.
Right now I have HBOOT updated using an RUU with a radio that unrEVOked forever works with. I have rooted and installed Clockwork Recovery. Now, I go to install the S-ON using Clockwork and then the screen blacks out and it returns to the Clockwork main menu without giving me any output.
Hopefully that clears things up
Ok sorry I thought you had trouble flashing the radio.
Yes I do believe the S-ON patch is installed within recovery, I just did it a few days ago and it worked fine. I was using the 7.28 radio. I believe I just did a normal .zip install in clockwork.
This sounds stupid, but make sure you're not pushing the power button. In ClockWork you have to push the optical pad to make selections, it's unlike HBOOT. I can't think of anything else.
I have rooted and SOFF'd my phone and need to return it to HTC for a repair.
I want to return the phone to it's stock settings and can only do it by placing the stock .img file on the SD card and booting to fastboot as this is the only thing that works properly...
I did this with my Nexus ages ago but can't recall how I obtained the .img file.
I am currently downloading the HTC vision RUU - can I obtain the .img file from this?
Can someone point me in the right direction?
ok, how did you S-OFF your phone ? Because if you did it via the engineering bootloader, you need to be very careful about flashing a stock .img so you don't brick your phone.
What ROM version are you running now and what do you want to flash ?
Have you tried just restoring factory settings from within the phone, before you go through a re-flash ?
yep, I used the engineered bootloader.
I am trying to use the RUU from HTC but I can't turn on my phone so I don't think ti will work...
Is there a way I can do it from the fastboot menu?
What ROM version did you have on the phone when it went wrong, and what ROM are you trying to flash now exactly ?
Really, all I want to do is return my phone to as close as stock as possible before I return to HTC.
I can't turn it on beyond the fastboot menu but can sometimes access Clockwork recovery for 10min or so.
I am currently running Cyangenmod 6.01 RC4 but have performed a full wipe.
Someone please help! I'm happy to donate!
To answer your question, I am attempting to flash RUU_Vision_HTC_WWE_1.34.405.5_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26_M_release_155556_signed
Is there anyway I can flash this from recovery or fastboot? I can't switch on my phone and let it fully boot, that's all.
I'm not sure how the ROM versions work with Cyanogen. This is important, because with the eng hboot, if you try and flash an *older" ROM than you're currently running, you can end up bricked.
To be on the safe side, use the "debranding" guide at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=832503 and that should let you flash the ROM safely.
Which HTC RUU are you downloading ? I have the European PC10IMG file (1.34.405.5) at http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9728800/PC10IMG.zip
You can extract the PC10IMG.zip file from the RUU if you run the RUU, but then don't press any of the buttons that it pops up, just leave it and go back to your desktop. Then if you navigate to where your OS version has its temp files for your user, you'll find it in there.
Edit - ok, so that's the same ROM that I have there

I don't know if it's safe to do that with the eng hboot when running Cyanogen, that's why I suggested the debranding (gold card) method. Then once you've done that you can flash it from hboot.
all restored
The charging light even now shows up when plugged in which it didn't do before... I'm hoping this is fixed!
I received a file from the HTC Service centre which is a ZIP file

It is not an RUU
If you're rooted and have clockwork mod recovery installed, I'm somewhat sure that's why you can't install it. But as you didn't provide any info about your phone, that's just a guess
I tried it thru Clockwork mod with no success.......
I've got DHD
2.2
radio 26.04.02.17
stock kernel
1.32.720.5 CL277010
I'm trying to get the OTA Update from HTC & they sent me a ZIP File
PD98IMG's cannot be flashed via CWM Recovery. Rename the zip to "PD98IMG.zip" and place in the root of your SD card (not in any folder).
Turn off your phone, disable HTC Fastboot if it's enabled, and power on holding Volume Down. This should start the Bootloader and it should read the PD98IMG.zip and flash it for you.
Will try now.....Thanks a lot.
Do I need to unroot for this?
Can you please give me the link to unroot..
Yey,,,,,, It Worked. Got my Warrenty back.

I have a PVT4 Desire and would like to do a back-up before i s-off (which cwm doesn't do hence installing AmonRA) so i can install a custom rom. I've already rooted it so i can't use unrevoked to flash AmonRA as it says the firmware is too new. Also i've tried using terminal emulator to flash the recovery but it says flash_image:not found.
How else can i flash AmonRA?

use the attached update.zip as a fake flash method, it is amonra recovery 1.7.0.5. just put it on ur sd card.
push vol down+power, go into recovery and when you see the triangle push vol up+power and then you ll select flash update.zip, it will take you to amonra recovery
How many times did you run unrevoked? Sometimes you have to run it a few times before it will work.
have you tried to push it using the android flasher utility...ill find the link for it

there you go mate..dont know if it works for pvt-4 ...so simple to use i used it to get amon ra because i had the same problems with unrevoked
That will not work because he is S-ON
@MatDrOiD i've tried using that method but it says flash_image: not found.
@thanito thanks for the file but when i went in to recovery and did apply sdcard:update.zip or install zip from sd card it stayed on CWM and didn't change to AmonRA.
@bailz2506 i haven't s-off'd yet i need to make a nandroid back-up first just in case before i can and CWM won't do it for the PVT4 Desire.
Isn't there a PC36IMG.zip for AmonRa for the Desire like there is with the other devices so i can do it the bootloader way?
hi mate,
at the beginning meet same problem... phone rooted but unable to do nand backup
E:misc error file doesn't exist... blablabla
i solved this by rerooting the phone with this cmw3.21 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/22152187/reflash_package3.21.exe
once done, i succesfully made a nanbck.
first i s-OFFed the devices and afterwards flash the recovery with fastboot to install Ar 2.0.1

@fragargon nope that didn't work,it still stayed on the same CWM and didn't differ.

Did you flash CWM through rom manager?
If so try to delete the file first and copy the one i attached you in sd root.

Don't say things that have nothing to do with this.
What you could do is return to stock. Then run Unrevoked again.
@Thanito I tried it again and deleted the existing one but still no luck

should get sorted of this, it was for me.

You can't flash that zip, because your HBOOT is a newer version than the one which you're trying to flash. Red triangle, is the recovery, stock recovery. If you push vol up + power, you'll see android recovery system. Try running an RUU of the stock ROM you want.

Only way of doing that is from within an operational phone, Android environment. Or via custom recovery. Since yours isn't booting. Boot your bootloader, choose fastboot and flash a custom recovery via cmd prompt. From within the recovery you can mount the phone, turning the SD card in your phone into a flash drive on your computer.

A RUU is an executable file that runs on your computer environment which will push the ROM to your phone via sync cable. RUU= ROM update/upgrade utility.
Must you have S-On, to switch carriers, or do you just need the stock ROM on your phone?

I didn't see that you had clockworkmod as your recovery before. That's probably why it didn't work. I agree with the above; I'd just flash a stock rooted ROM. Just download the PC36IMG.zip for RA-supersonic v2.3 and put it on the root of your sd card (you can take it out of the device and connect it to a computer using a card reader) to flash in bootloader.
My phones touch screen is acting up..and i think it was the rom.
Fastboot > RUU > PC36IMG (hboot 2.16.00001 S-ON) > RUU. Best way in my opinion.
