i was going through a friends phone today and was really diggin the ringtones and alerts on the touch pro2. anyone have an easy way to get these so i can use them on a droid? thanks.
they're .wav files in his \Windows folder, ask him to copy them for you & you'll probably have to convert to mp3 or whatever the droid uses for its sounds.

Hi,
I switched from the DOPOD rom to the official HTC Europe rom.
When I did so, I found out that the HTC rom didn't have the YOU GOT MESSAGE ringtone when you receive an SMS.
Could someone please "rip" it from the DOPOD rom and upload it somewhere for me?
If I do have it, in which folder do I paste it on my phone so I can select it?
And another question, is it possible to find the "black theme" somewhere?
Thank you very very much for your time

LOL, my thougts exactly. Deleted it as soon as I heard it.
I just converted the "You've Got Mail" one from AOL and used that for awhile until it annoyed to damn near insanity. It's not worth it.
I think its her voice she sounds realy sexy....
I like the originals not the dopod ones, tho the combinations make for a full compliment for different messages (messenger. text, mms, and email)
so I have you've got mail (oroiginal), have email, have message, and you have a message. the variants cover the 4 options with slightly different accentuations.
but how would u install that ring for sms? the tytn u cant use your own sms rings right

Thank you Edward .
I'm running into a problem though.. Sometimes when I receive an SMS I don't hear the ringtone, my phone doesn't vibrate and the light doesn't go orange.
Any idea what might go wrong. Is it because of the MP3 ringtone?
Is .wav better?

Thanks for the Tones.
How do I mute an incoming call? (without Ignoring the call, 'cuz then they will know they were ignored when they get bumped to VM).
How do I Cut and Paste?
Thanks.
1. volume strip
2. not possible without a third party app.
great thanks.
I find it kinda strange that WM doesn't enable such a basic function. I can cut and paste on my NON-smartphones no problem at all, and yet can't with my PDA phone.

Use ViTO CopyPaste - it's free and pretty OK.
Note that it'll only copy / paste from text input fields, NOT from anywhere on the screen.

Great thanks, I'll give that a try.
Just curious: why was this moved? Isn't asking how to mute a call on the Excalibur, Excalibur specific? I mean I am sure it is different on the Excalibur than it is on other phones (without a volume strip).

I am using ViTO and I really like it. It is so simple to use, however I often have need of copying from other areas of the screen (mainly webpages) is there another app that allows this that anyone recommends?

I dont know if you can use .wma's for that, you may nee to convert them to .mp3 or .wav,,,,You may try and drop them in the \application data\sounds folder.
Thanks Pudge! Got it by dropping em in App Data\Sounds
I wonder if there's a master table somewhere of where sounds for various things need to go. I know some sounds can be in My Documents, others in Windows, etc. Add to that that you can't use certain formats for certain events and it gets downright confusing.
all i know is if you drop your sound files in the application data/sounds folder
any customization of sounds can be done if they are in that folder. As far as the types of audio file formats you can use, i really dont know the extent of what you can and cant use. Although it seems that .mp3's, .wav's and .wma's work when editing your profiles, other restrictions are true when editing other things, such as startup-shutdown tones (.wav only) as well as other restrictions that i can't think of off the top of my head.

Any links where you can get these sounds from?
I liked the ones in the rose rom but had to flash back to kavanas because of my weak little battery. Ill go back as soon as I can get a 12 volt car battery wired up to it.
Im currently running CRC's rom 13 which I love. Im not to keen on the dialer tho. for one I have a 8525 so the video button is useless. and dialing numbers seems really slow. Like I press the number and then a sec later in responds. Is there away to go to a normal dialer?
Also when I push the comm button it takes a few seconds for it to come up. Any way to fix this?
Thanks in advanced
ugly stock dialer and comm manager are pretty snappy, Just very UGLY

Is your phonepad sound enabled? If so, disabling it will improve keypad response.

Does that actually mean that this dialer does not support 3G net or just that the dialer is unable to do video calls?
Ill give it a try later...

Small question, I have little red rots around the keys in the dialer, is there any reason for this? I will try replacing the files again.
Edit: I now see them in your screeny, is there a way to get rid of them? Thanks.

I've seriously searched on my phone in just about every folder and still can't find it. Really strange. I'm also using VP3G's 3.0 so I guess he had hidden the default sounds somewhere.
