I want to see if I have this straight. I have rooted 2.1 and want to flash to rooted 2.2. I have downloaded the rooted 2.2. Do I just copy to the SD card and then reboot into recovery and flash from the sd card?

You can give it a shot. It may or may not work right if you don't wipe everything first. I highly recommend doing a nandroid backup before you flash, in case it's wonky.
But yes, that is the proper procedure.

I installed ROM Manager and tried a couple ROMs. At some point (hard to remember exactly when) the installation of a ROM failed and now my phone keeps rebooting into ClockworkMod Recovery (v.2.5.0.5). I went to backup and restore and tried to restore the backup I made. It runs for a few minutes and then says it's done and takes me back to CM Recovery. When I select reboot system now it boots back into CM Recovery.
Any help would be appreciated. All I really need to do is get some version of Android (I don't care if its 2.1) back on the phone. I can then apply the RUU and restore my apps from Titanium Backup if needed. I am not worried about losing everything - I have everything I need backed up.
Can anyone help, How can I get Android back on my phone? I tried the steps here (http://androidforums.com/incredible...ideo-howto-unroot-incredible-downgrading.html) and that didn't work.
Thanks in advance,
Derek
Can't you just download a RUU, put it on your sd card, choose install zip from sd card, and be good? Not sure if you've already tried that or not... I'm not sure what else you might be able to do. I'm not so technical with that stuff, so someone else should chime in.

Try downloading a rom, go into clockwork restore to factory, wipe cache and dalvik cache. Mount SD card put fresh downloaded rom there. Unmount SD card and install rom via install from zip. Make sure its a different rom then what you were trying when it happened just invade and good luck

your boot is errored go into hboot(hold volume and power button on powerup) and do a factory reset... take out sd before hand... reroot(i suggest unrevoked) and then install rom manager, (insert sd)then use that to reboot into recovery. then recover from the recovery you have on your sd.

It's cool and you were right, RUU's are a stock rom that wipes everything but they have to be ran from a computer with hboot open or something like that
Hey guys, so I'm a noob and need a little bit of help. I just downloaded this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1219407
Now, what do I do with it? Also, will I lose all of my data by flashing this onto my phone? (ie: my texts and my homescreens, etc?)
Thanks!
are you rooted? if not...

once you have clockwork recovery and all that, boot into recovery, 'flash rom from sd card' (after putting the zip file on ur sd) and ur good.
If you dont want to lose everything, after root, download titanium backup and run that. you will be able to apply most of your stuff back on once you flash a new rom.
howbout some thnx -.-'
I'll give you some thanks for that succinct explanation of steps to take.
I'm ready to root with unrevoked - guessing I should use the "flash and recover" version instead of their "forever" one?
I installed Titanium backup, which I'll use after rooting to backup pretty much everything that it can grab.
Then, I'll use the SD card-based install that you mentioned.
I've read that I should do a full wipe before installing the OTA ROMs being offered - is another tool needed for that, please?
- ooofest
You've got it. The newest version of Unrevoked has made the "forever" one obsolete.
You will be able to perform all the wipes required from within Clockwork Recovery.
Also, make a clockwork backup (nandroid) as soon as you have root, so if you run into any problems flashing roms you have something to restore.
I am wondering how I can mount my SD card on my evo 4g. I flashed the bliss rom after doing a nandroid backup of my mikG rom. Somehow now when I turn my phone on it goes to a screen that says "ANDROID" and is stuck on it. I am able to boot into the boot loader and clockwork recovery 3.0 but I am unable to restore a backup becuase it says it cannot mount the sd card. Ive tried reformatting the sd card but whatever i seem to do or try to find on the internet doesn't lead me to a solution. Can someone please help me figure this out? All help is much appreciated

well the first thing that i would do is get rid of clockwork and get amon-ra. that recovery just seems to work better for most roms imo. obviously your clockwork nands wont work for amon but you should have less trouble in the future. you could also try to reflash clockwork.
If you wanna really do it right, get Amon Ra, then wipe everything, but the SD Card and Batter stats if your not fully charged, then flash a Stock ROM. Then make a complete Nandroid of that, so you always have something Stock to fall back on.
Then do a full wipe again and flash the custom ROM/Kernel/Mods that you want.

USB Debugging is only for certain operations and does not need to be on for a data transfer.

Make a folder on your desktop named "SD", copy the contents of your current SD. Then copy those files to your new SD, easy peasy. No problems.

If you made a backup of your stock ROM you can just restore it, ClockWork will still be your recovery, however you can flash the stock recovery thru ODIN if you want it completely stock.

Hey could you also let me know how to flash mods, eg. camera mod, etc? And what mods can i flash over a rom/theme without messing the rom/theme or my phone up?
Ok, while I was about to load a different rom I accidentally wiped my data. So I have nothing on my card. I didn't know what to do but I did made a backup on my computer but the hard part was that the SD card does not fit my SD card reader. So I didn't know what to do so I had a moment of smartness come to me and used my Thunderbolts SD card and loaded a GS3 rom on it. I took my SD card in my GS3 phone and installed it that way and it worked.
But my question is now is how do I get back my touchwiz features if I have no rom on my t-mobile card? I want to go back to my rooted stock rom. and then maybe later load another rom.
Once you wipe you done. Simple get into stock and root again and flash again.
Flashing rom is best part of android.
what every you wiped is gone dude. If you have your backup still put it in the backup folder and wipe and then restore your backup...
I know, I lost everything. That's cool just got to install again. I do have a backup that I also saved on laptop. I was going to do it that way but don't know. Put all those files back on my phone or could I flash a stock gs3 zip then save that way? I will try either way. My back up has lots of big files, is that because it has all my pics and apps?

Recovering deleted files from flash memory is a pipe dream. Good luck. No, seriously, good luck. You're going to need it. Try Recuva by Piriform.
I managed to get a rom on my phone and I'm using "illusion" looks great by the way, and I'm going to load a GS3 stock rom and then try to see if I can back that up. I hope it works
its not working. I've used the stock zip and it didn't want to take. I'm thinking of using Odin unroot and then root again afterwards. what do you think?
I'm not sure I thoroughly understand your problem. You could Odin a stock image or root66.
And you need to update your recovery. You can use the ones from my signature or use ROM Manager or Goo Manager to update without tripping your counter.
