USB Debugging is only for certain operations and does not need to be on for a data transfer.

Make a folder on your desktop named "SD", copy the contents of your current SD. Then copy those files to your new SD, easy peasy. No problems.

If you made a backup of your stock ROM you can just restore it, ClockWork will still be your recovery, however you can flash the stock recovery thru ODIN if you want it completely stock.

Getting a new S2: clean wipe + transfer questions

Long story short, I got a new S2 today.
My current S2 is rooted on FB27. And I want to 1) transfer my existing setup to my new phone, and 2) clean wipe my old phone so I can sell it.
To transfer, can I do a nandroid backup of my current setup, move the SD card over to my new phone, then just do a restore?
To clean wipe, just install a stock GB ROM onto my old phone?
Odin back to EL29
Another question is, can I do a nandroid backup of my current system on my SD card, then install CWM on my new phone, then do a restore?

[Q] Does deleting backup files harm?

Hi,
I recently rooted my phone and installed Cyanogen Mod 7.1. My phone got locked and asked for activation, so I went to recover mode and restored back to previous stock version. It is working fine, but my disk space has become low due to the backup file of my current stock version (2.2.1). Can I delete the backup files which is present in ClockWorkMod folder? Will it harm anything?
I am planning to install ICS rom to my HTC droid Incredible 2. So I will delete the backup files and again backup when it asks during the ICS installation. Will this be okay? Guys please help me regarding this.
Do yourself a favor and copy them to a computer to free up space on your SD card. You may want to revert at some point.

Personally the only one I keep is my initial one. The rooted stock rom. Then I keep a stable rom and gaps on my phone at all times

HELP: Wiped my SD card by mistake

Ok, while I was about to load a different rom I accidentally wiped my data. So I have nothing on my card. I didn't know what to do but I did made a backup on my computer but the hard part was that the SD card does not fit my SD card reader. So I didn't know what to do so I had a moment of smartness come to me and used my Thunderbolts SD card and loaded a GS3 rom on it. I took my SD card in my GS3 phone and installed it that way and it worked.
But my question is now is how do I get back my touchwiz features if I have no rom on my t-mobile card? I want to go back to my rooted stock rom. and then maybe later load another rom.
Once you wipe you done. Simple get into stock and root again and flash again.
Flashing rom is best part of android.
what every you wiped is gone dude. If you have your backup still put it in the backup folder and wipe and then restore your backup...
I know, I lost everything. That's cool just got to install again. I do have a backup that I also saved on laptop. I was going to do it that way but don't know. Put all those files back on my phone or could I flash a stock gs3 zip then save that way? I will try either way. My back up has lots of big files, is that because it has all my pics and apps?

Recovering deleted files from flash memory is a pipe dream. Good luck. No, seriously, good luck. You're going to need it. Try Recuva by Piriform.
I managed to get a rom on my phone and I'm using "illusion" looks great by the way, and I'm going to load a GS3 stock rom and then try to see if I can back that up. I hope it works
its not working. I've used the stock zip and it didn't want to take. I'm thinking of using Odin unroot and then root again afterwards. what do you think?
I'm not sure I thoroughly understand your problem. You could Odin a stock image or root66.
And you need to update your recovery. You can use the ones from my signature or use ROM Manager or Goo Manager to update without tripping your counter.

Hi
is he on the stock rom? odexed or de-odexed? what rom version?
For a quick fix i would recommend flashing this rom via clockworkmod recovery, as it is fairly stock and already rooted. Ensure that your friend makes a full nandroid backup first, then wipe everything, except the sdcard, and then flash the rom afetr placing it onto the root of the sdcard. like he must have done to root. then, after the rom has booted up and is working with his sim card i recommend downloading this app here and use this to restore heir contacts, and sms ect. NOTE: only restore data apps, and not system apps at there may be conflicts! good luck pal.

need help with backing up stock rom

dear all members
Im running on stock at&t kitkat rom but i would like to install custom rom. Do i have to backup my stock rom just in case if i ever need to go back to stock rom and how to i back it up? is it a necessary to backup my stock rom or there is no such thing?
any help is greatly appreciated
sorry for my funny question, im still pretty new to this android community
You don't have to back it up. You can fully restore to stock without a backup! I just back up my apps with Titanium Backup Pro.
You will want to back up your EFS data in case some ROM botches your radio.
You CAN backup your stock ROM... Sorta. If you install cwm, you can back up what's there. BUT I recommend disabling updates (freeze the update app) if you have stock w/cwm because any stock updates will boot loop you.

Hi
Thank u for taking ur time to answer my question.
I just want to back up the stock rom just In case custom rom is not a long term for me and want to go back to stock.
Do I need an external micro sd card in order to back up the stock rom or back it up to my pc or my internal storage on my phone? If I'm not mistaken flashing custom rom will wipe everything from internal storage of the device?
I have 1gb micro sd card for now, would it be enough storage to back up the stock rom?
Sorry for my noobish questions
You can back up to the internal memory of the phone. You can't make a true backup of the stock ROM because you will have cwm boot loader. And cwm will break any future updates of the stock ROM.
I think you'd need more than 1GB. At LEAST a 4gb. I'd grab a 16gb class 10 if you don't have one. They're pretty cheap on newegg.
A proper backup of stock will be acquiring all the tools to restore your phone back to stock. And backing up all your apps + data.
