Been using nimbuzz for a while..got familiar with it in 0 time..
Trillian for sure.
Just for MSN i would vote for MSN Talk.
Apparently there is no msn client yet that supports sending of files....

you can always mail the files you wanna send while running the msn client you use..
As far as I have read the official MSN app supports file transfer?
I use eBuddy.. Used to have MSN Talk which I prefered.. but MSN Talk somehow managed to mess up my SD card :/
I use Ebuddy but I would really like to see a chat logging feature.
Wow, I'm surprised no one mentioned BeejiveIM, the KING of IM apps on iPhone and Blackberry, finally on Android in beta form.
It supports file sending as well.
Here:
http://androinica.com/2010/08/25/this-is-beejive-for-android-video/
There are tons of MSN capable clients and I've tested them all.
eBuddy
MSN Talk
MSN Droid
Meebo IM
Palringo
Nimbuzz
Trillian (Beta)
BeeJiveIM (Beta)
That 'official' MSN app from MSN China.
Yet in essence, they are all the same. The MSN China app is the only one with real file transfer making it having an edge over the rest.
The file transfer of the rest consist of the file being uploaded to their server and the other person gets a download link. You cannot receive files, only MSN China app allows you to actually receive files.
Next to that nothing except the interfaces set them apart. As I like eBuddy's interface the most, I use that.
Also if you use hotmail as your main email client log in to it online a forward to gmail then gmail will push straight to your phone

hey guys,
Apparently, since all of us stock Telus Desire owners are on 2.1, there is a problem with HTC Mail connecting to Hotmail through exchange (m.hotmail.com). Not sure if Telus is planning on fixing this when 2.2 is out (if ever, tabernac).. But what have some of you guys done to get this to work in the interm?
Some people were able to switch to Android mail which apprently works.. How do you get that exactly? I'm new to Android and still finding my way around..
Other people have tried third party software like K-9 and what not, apparently they work too.
Any feedback would be great!
anyone? this is really stressing me out..
I have my gmail account pick up my hotmail emails and use the gmail app (which uses IMAP).
otherwise, is there a problem with using the mail app and pop3 rather than exchange?
I would tell you exactly how I set it up, but I lost the friggen thing a week ago. New one on its way *thanks insurance*
with pop3, u wont be able to see the other folders or synch your emails to your mobile (ie, if u delete an email on mobile, it wont in your inbox..)
Use gmail its pretty good but sometimes 3rd party apps are good too.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
It doesnt really help when someone says they want to use hotmail then the solution you're proposing is to use gmail.. :\
I'm not telling use gmail, I said it was good but if you really wanna use Hotmail just get a 3rd party app.

There is also a problem with the 2.2 HTC mail app.
I am using stock android mail app for hotmail, works fine.

Install IMPROVED EMAIL from the Market. Works brilliantly.

Cant find improved email in the market.. is it because I'm still running 2.1 and that is a 2.2 app?
I thought 2.2 resolves the hotmail issue anyways without having to make any changes?

You can't. Support was removed back in 2.3.x for the Nexus S. Issues with Facebooks use of Google API's & local storage of contact data or something along those lines. Should be plenty if you search - either on XDA or on the wider intewebs.
Thank you

I liked the stock email app on the galaxy S2, I figured that once I got my s3 that email would be similar, but it's not, it is much much worse. Is there any way to install the old mail app from the S2 on the S3?
I have tried the alternative email programs from the play store and I just don't like them.
Please help!
Thanks a million.
Enhanced Email...
I may not be correct, but.... I believe the GS2 used an email program built by Seven.
You may look and find an apk for Seven email+IM that should be similar. I personally cannot find a download link for it.
If you go their website, they do have a BETA Android program. http://community.seven.com/download.php Again, not sure if this is exactly what you are looking for, but may be worth a shot.
Edit: It appears they abandoned Android in the last year or something and the only client they currently are shown as making is the one for Hotmail's Android client. Sorry.

K-9 Mail is IMO a good email client. I don't know if it's one of the alternatives you tried and didn't like.
It's larger that Enhanced Email, but cheaper... (free)...
I'm new or I'd post a link to the Play store.
(I have no affiliation with K-9 Mail whatsoever.)

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I've tried all the free email apps on the play store and none of them really did it for me. Finally tried enhanced email too and that is a step in the right direction, hopefully I don't have any troubles from it.
p.s. I have the Gmail app, but I need to access my work email somehow.
Try touchdown by nitrodesk. It's one of the best

Only one I found I liked was Inomail,
What about the AOSP Google email? I think it looks great and works very well.
yea if you need to check an exchange acct at work I usually go between nitrodesk touchdown and moxier mail. One of those should be perfect for you I prefer touchdown really.

do you have the apks for AOSP?
the rom NoAOSP http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1759245
uses the email client from google nexus; a user there said it was the only email client they've used on the S3 that allowed them to connect to their work email.
perhaps download that rom, open the zip with 7zip and pull out the email.apk and put it on your phone.
try to install it normally, if not you may have to copy it to system/app with root explorer (reboot afterwards)
might be worth a look

In the SGS2 email you could make it inverted and control font size from the app.
I pushed the old app every way i could. No joy. May try a flashable zip, but I can't see that making much difference... I guess it would have to be ported.
What email apps are Nexus 7 owners using?
I cannot figure out how to get Nexus to auto-complete email addresses in the stock email app for either gmail or a non-gmail account. is this justmissing or do I need to turn something on?
Any alternatives?
I use mail droid. It has a free and a paid option. Best ive tried so far.

Do any of these do IMAP search on server?
I use Gmail, it auto-completes anything I have in contacts. I use to hate gmail on a mobile device, but I like it on the N7 better than K9, which I was using.
I use K9 on my Nexus 7, not perfect by any means, but, far better than the stock email client. I had problems with attachments using the stock email client.
With K9, I can open, save, view attachments etc., which is what I wanted.
Still searching for a better one ...............
Gmail has everything I need.
Yeah, I'm thinking of adding K9, it actually attaches and opens zip files as well as anything else you want to throw at it. Gmail sucks with attachments.

I use stock gmail for my gmail and nitrodesk touchdown for exchange. I don't have a problem running 2 different apps for 2 different accounts.
Enhanced e-mail is an app that is close to the standard email app in Android 4.2.1. It has more options.
I use it because this app has an option to synchronize the trash.
Emptying the thrash by selecting messages one by one is no longer needed.

So, is there any way we can install the HTC mail app on our Galaxy Nexus ? I love that mail client and i would use it on my nexus also.
I guess it requires htc sense framework, so most probably no.
If this is not possible, what is the best mail client ? The default one is horrible

Mail clients on Android are pretty terrible. You've either got the choice of equally bad open source clients like K-9, or ad-ridden clients like Aqua Mail or Maildroid that require a payment to get the pro version.
I stick to the default mail client because it works fine for me despite being kinda crappy.
Everything is crap. Only the HTC one was ok for me... Isnt there any way to port it ?

The HTC one has some excellent features which you just don't get on the defaut client, like the ability to see all emails from all folders and all accounts in one pot.. That would be the main selling point for me!, is there a paid for client that can do that?
