How do you add a Facebook account to sync contacts etc?
I have the Facebook app installed and have added twitter accounts etc through the accounts and sync in settings but Facebook never adds.

You can't. Support was removed back in 2.3.x for the Nexus S. Issues with Facebooks use of Google API's & local storage of contact data or something along those lines. Should be plenty if you search - either on XDA or on the wider intewebs.

let's say I have all important people in my google contacts. I have manually related every one of them to corresponding facebook contacts so that essentially I could see their FB profile photo.

this is the only place i will miss sense. i was kind of used to not having iton my nexus s, didnt the reg market facebook app sync conatcts
Facebook Sync
Don't fret folks. There are other options. I use Contapps. It has a feature to sync HIGH QUALITY facebook pictures. You're going to have to go with the pro version.

I understood that the new facebook 1.9.1 would sync contacts with ICS but I do not have this option in my GNex with stock 4.0.4.
Anyone else?

It doesn't sync at this time. It shows as an account you can sync, but falls to sync when you tell it to. Google blocks Facebook from sync at this time. Read the other thread about this same topic that was posted yesterday.

well my problem is that I don't even have the option to sync in the accounts manager 9see attached screenshot)
can you pls point me to the thread?
You should keep in mind that facebook copies all of your contact data onto their servers.
This really upset me when I found out about it, so I deleted the facebook app from my devices.

accounts management > add account > choose twitter
then you can choose to sync contacts and data: i am syncing only data
Cant seem to get my Gallery to sync up my Facebook Albums anymore. It used to work fine. I cant remember the last time I had it sync but I have Flashed Blazer Rom 1.5 and Freegs3 v.08 and .8.1 over the last few weeks. Is there anything I can do to fix this. It was a nice feature to access the albums offline.
I'm having the same issues. Haven't been able to get it to sync.

I think I saw a similar post about a similar problem. There is a app to help called hc sync or something... Lemme go look

Haxsync only syncs your contact pictures, and calendar . The SGS III used to sync the facebook gallery with your SGS III gallery. It was a cool feature. Not sure what happened.

That is for contacts. I want photo albums to sync with photo gallery.. It used to before..
Mine is out and so is my wife's phone.
Mine wouldn't work earlier today.now it's working though.

Problem solved. I guess Facebook was doing something to this feature, it's back up again. Thanks guys
is there any program that does this in the nexus? before it used a motorola defy + that did this automatically.

Just spend the 99 cents on haxsync, facebook contact sync only syncs your contacts. haxsync syncs contacts and calendar events from facebook. Well worth the dollar.

Any way to change the default contact picture for my contacts. I want them to all use the pic from Facebook but some are using their Google pics.

Exactly -- I already have Facebook pics tied to my contacts -- the question is how do I force the phone to use them as the primary pics? HTC does this already...
Go to a contact hit menu then set as default then you can select which image is the default. Facebook contact sync does this automatically

HaxSync will do this for all your contacts. If it misses some, you can go in and manually join the contacts. The other nice thing about HaxSync is that it will use hi-res pics instead of the lame low res default.

Just grabbed this and will try -- yay for leftover Play Store credit from my Nexus 7!
Update: Looks like that worked -- and the pics look much better!
Hi. I know in previous versions of Facebook you could sync contacts (numbers/photos ect)
Does anybody know how to do this on the n4, or a way to import all the contacts photos and numbers?
I have already gone into settings>accounts and set contacts to sync from there but no luck
Any ideas?

Ice Cream Sandwich and later versions of android don't allow Facebook contact syncing. My understanding is that this was because the way that Facebook had been allowed to do it in the past was a kludgy system that wasn't the same as the api available to other developers. Until Facebook decides to use the standard api, you have to use as third party app to make it work. I use one that's popular called Haxsync.

It is fantastic. You can sync your fb contacts - chose to sync those that match a contact you already have, or sync all.
It will also sync your fb calendar events and/or birthdays which I find really useful
+1 Haxsync. It syncs everything you might want and you can configure the sync in many ways.
It's not free though.
User that or Friendcaster for Facebook.

You need the workaround. If you install just the app, it prompts you on first launch to install the workaround.
Haxsync works great.

i read something about changing de contactsprovider.apk, so facebook kann sync by its own.
Does it work on the nexus 4 as well?
