Are you on ChiefzReloaded's OTA ROM or just SlideMeRoot?
Do NOT update if you are on either, but we need to talk if you're getting an OTA on Chiefz's OTA ROM (will probably be Froyo Espresso)

My wife's slide just got the firmware update notification on SlideMeRoot5r1, but with Chiefz radio update. Can someone give me an idea how to check the version? Or rip it out? Yes I'm a noob with adb, but I can read instructions. How do you think I rooted this thing in the first place!?

It seems like you're both on SlideMeRoot then, download ChiefzReloaded's OTA ROM and flash it and you'll be on the latest version of Espresso

I thought it might be that but wasnt sure and just wanted to make sure it wasnt FROYO.
Thanks for the info

The latest known Espresso firmware version is 1.35.x i forget the rest. I know when the phone officially came out it was version 1.27.x

I just had this update being pushed to my phone. I removed the battery just to make sure it didn't get applied. Does anyone else know if it auto-applies?
It could very well be Froyo since T-Mobile said mid/late August.
I'm going to take the risk and let it download, then pull the zip. (Since I'm one of the couple developers left in this community... someone has to do it )

Updates don't automatically apply, even if they are completely downloaded to /cache.

UPDATE: I don't think this is anything special. I think this was somehow triggered by people running the beta (improperly labeled by Eugene as "ENG") bootloader for our phones. Version says "1.26.531.1 CL174750 release-keys" and the dates in the archive seem to support the fact that it is from MAY, 2010. Looking into it further just to make sure.
EDIT: DO NOT APPLY THIS UPDATE!
EDIT2: This looks like an attempt by T-Mobile to fix root bugs in the older versions of phones running BETA ( < 1.35.x) bootloader. DO NOT APPLY THIS UPDATE.

My wife is getting notifications on hers. She is on eugenes Rom, slidemeroot I believe. I just wantto watch this thread so I know what to do here.

Working on that. Hopefully I'll have an update to counter this "soon". By "soon" I mean: when it's ready - since I'm currently at work that may not be for a while.

I just got that update and I felt like a dare devil and applied it..it rebooted into recovery then the cellphone image apeared and a green loading bar underneath it ..it loaded about halfway then stoped. A question mark appeared were the phone icon was then rebooted..nothing happened. My phone is still rooted and non of my setting changed. Just thought I would throw that info out there.

U.S. got its official 2.2
When will Europe get official 2.2?
Just finished downloading. Doing a backup. After that I'll run and see how much carnage this thing causes. I've been playing with the unofficial one on my other phone so I'm psyched to see how this one plays out. I'll update once I'm done.
Attempt #1 = Failure. Guess it checks for all of the stock apk files. So I'm going to re-enable all of the bloatware and try again.
Update #2 After failing to update...now I no longer have the ability to update. Where is the update downloaded to?
Update #3 - Thankfully I have a backup with the update on it. Have made a little more progress. Now I'm only getting the Status 7 code....which means I need to unroot the phone. So thats the next step. They are not making this easy.

New OTA update is coming

I read an article on Droid-Life and there supposedly is an update coming for this phone. I am currently running rmk's Debloated/Rooted/De-odexed ROM. Am I going to even get a notification for the update? I don't want to accept the update but will it force me to install it?

I was thinking I could just use what I like about it and freeze what I don't want in it.
Or at least hide what I don't like.
I would rather hide or freeze what I don't use/want so it is easier to go back to stock (just in case).
This new radio may break root for people, luckily I used the xtc clip, but at the top now it says locked..
---------- Post added at 11:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:07 PM ----------
my hboot now rocks a pink ***LOCKED*** on the top. lol
I am rooted running the stock ROM. Will I lose Root if I accept this update? I am Rooted with Revolutionary.
Yeah. I'm just gonna wait and see what happens throughout the week.
I have it deferred until Saturday.
Maybe something will come about.
The OTA will only appear to phones running stock or a rom based on stock framework, right?
it should ontophantoms.....at least thats the way i understood it from the guys at verizon......i haven't had the OTA popup yet for me, so im happy haha
Thanks, that's what I'm hoping too.
A friend of mine has a DInc2 and he was running completely stock, unrooted. Took the 2.3.4 OTA and now he's got the "Locked-Security Warning" message.

Do yourselves a favor and freeze the com.smithmicro.dm application so it can't update ota, and then just wait for the rooted releases.

If people are worried about getting the ota and losing root...with root explorer in rw(read write) go to etc/security then find the file called otacerts.zip. Rename it otacerts.bak. Prolly not needed cuz we have cwr but i do it anyways just in case.

ROM based on stock AT&T I317 Phone, not International Version

is there a ROM available that is based on the AT&T stock, I317 phone, and not the International versions? i'm tired of apps not working because my device now appears to be an International phone versus the US phone that it is. thanks.
You don't need a different base...just a Build.prop edit broseph
Scott had a ROM out back in November based on the stock ROM and it is WONDERFUL! It was called I317_Repack_T889_N7105ZHALJ4. It was rooted and Multiview enabled, teathered enabled, de-bloated and would take the 15 button and 4 boot menu add-ons.
But I think he pulled it and now has the international version. I tried his new international version a few weeks ago but went back to I317_Repack_T889_N7105ZHALJ4 because the phone locked up twice within 12 hours and had to pull the battery out to get it back. I think some application I had was not playing well with it. Or maybe I did not flash it correctly. Either way, no one else seemed to have this problem with his new one.
But I cannot seem to find a link for this ROM anymore so I guess he pulled it.

If you be on 98.18.94 do the OTA of the same name!
....98.30.1 do the OTA likewise.
More:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52716429&postcount=25
I was on 98.18.94 and updated to KK 182. I froze system apps and it refused to boot. Then i RSD'd to 98.30.1 and that gave me the KK 183. update. NOTHING on the phone changed. Bootloader still unlocked and everything. I believe they're pretty much identical and it doesnt matter which update you take.
I was kind in the same situation, I was on 98.18.94, but was rooted and couldn't take the OTA. Used House of Moto to go to 98.30.1 and then was able to take OTA. I still have the original KitKat OTA Blur_Version.98.18.94.XT907.Verizon.en.US.zip that I pulled before going to 98.30.1. Are you saying I should be using that version 182.46.10.xt907 instead of 183.46.10.xt907 since I originally had the 98.18.94? Any idea what the difference is between the 2 versions?

I no longer have a M. I did check the recoveries & they have different md5's.
There have been just too many borks associated with this neglect of name/build subtlety to ignore it.
Since I have the original OTA could I either down grade and apply the correct OTA or since I have an unlocked bootloader would I be able to reinstall the original without the down grade step?

Yes, I talked to our mutual friend about it a few days ago and was told the same thing. How stras1234 managed to acquire the FXZ so quickly is beyond me but truly amazing. We were highly skeptical when he posted that he had it on droidrzr. I guess we should have looked into it a bit further. LOL. But that's what prompted me to ask our mutual friend about it and when he said it wasn't out, my skepticism grew. Ah well. Most impressive!

The OP is saying I should be using 182.46.10.xt907 version and not 183.46.10.xt907. So if I go back to 98.30.1 can I then install the correct OTA, or is there a place to get the file to downgrade to my original version? I went to http://sbf.droid-developers.org/ and it did not have my version to download.

Since the FXZ for KK was posted, I've updated my thread with instructions on how to use it. I'd just flash that and call it good. The whole 182 vs 183 nonsense is a red herring. There's no difference between the builds except the build number and signing keys. Personally if I still had a Moto phone I'd be sticking with the FXZ path regardless of what anyone says.
im currently running KK, get kitkat from ota update and my KK version is 183.46.10. can i reflash to this FXZ??it is save? my phone is unlocked bootloader.. need your help. thank you

I dont now why..but i found bug with version 183..sometimes i got my phone cant turn on from lockscreen..and can only fix it using hard reboot (press vol up+vol down+power in the same time)..i hope with version 182 can be solved..and another question is after ota update my model number is XT905 NOT XT907 OR Razr M..dunno why

That's odd about XT905 (since neither the Electrify M, nor the Aussie Razr M got KitKat yet - they're both can be XT905 for some reason), but yes, you could try to flash again via RSD Lite for a cleaner system. It doesn't matter if it's 182 or 183 though, as it's the same version.
OT: But for the Electrify M which is XT901 an update is announced at Moto's site now.
