This morning I tried to turn on my incredible, it went to the htc incredible screen, then the htc quietly brilliant screen, then the Verizon screen, then back to the htc quietly brilliant screen. It goes back and forth between those 2 screens indefinitely as far as I can tell. The phone is rooted but I am not running a custom ROM. At one point on the bootloader screen I think I saw it say no image and another time i think i saw it say wrong image. On clockwork recovery I tried to restore some of my backups but it said no file found. Anyone know what I should do?
p.s. I read the other boot loop thread and I think this problem is a bit different. Sorry if I still should have used the other thread.
I'll give the same advice I did to the other guy....do a hard reset.

Hi all, I've arranged to have my phone replaced because the trackpad has stopped working so I wanted to unroot the phone before I sent it back. I was on hboot 0.75 and CM6 rom before I tried to unroot. I flashed the RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.15.405.4_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_122704.exe file from this forum hoping it would take me back to standard 2.1. When I boot the phone I get the white HTC screen for a while before it reboots and shows again for a while...a boot loop I guess. I can get back into hboot/fastboot but going to recovery gives a boot loop like a normal boot. I've since flashed the official froyo update using a goldcard and that seems to be doing the same thing.
Any help anyone can give me would be great...I've hit my limit on trying to fix it and I'm starting to get a bit worried!
Thanks
Attempted to Flash: Phone blinks on the htc quietly brilliant screen
I used unrevoked and Cyanogen 7.0 rc not a daily build.
I very carefully followed all the instructions posted and after flashing the rom i ended up with a phone that boots then flashes the HTC quietly brilliant screen over and over at me.
I can still access Hboot but i've been unable to progress from there. Any suggestions on how to proceed?
I used to flash custom roms all the time for windows mobile but this is my first time bothering to for android. I can't really see what's gone wrong here yet and the thread with similar issues to mine are vague with little helpful info.
Oh, I do have a nandroid back up safely saved on my computer. I'm reading up on what to do with that.
Edit:
Well... Looks like things worked out. While reading i just left the phone on the flashing Quietly brilliant screen and eventually the phone booted up.
I took the opportunity to reflash clockworkmod. Looks like things are going to be ok now but the whole experience has me a bit gun shy until i have more information.
From what I read i was stuck in a boot-loop but I have another theory too. Is the flashing HTC screen "normal" during an install since customs roms may lack their own flash screens?
Clarification would be nice.
Almost all ROM's have splash screens and boot animations included (I don't know any that don't).
CM7 definitely does, they actually have a pretty sweet boot animation. If you're not seeing that then I would suspect that your flash didn't go 100% right, maybe you didn't fully root and turn S-OFF.
The HTC quietly brilliant usually only popped up on the stock ROM whenever I did something dumb (like uninstall a major piece of the UI) that would prevent the launcher to load.
That does not come up as a default splash screen or boot animation, so a bit weird that it showed up for you.
If everything is all worked out now then that's good to hear.
The more I read the more I think I managed to install Cyanogen as my recovery or at least attempted to. I think i'm very lucky to have not bricked my phone. None of the tutorials out there clearly go over the difference between a recovery install and a rom install. If there is indeed a difference.
Yes there is a massive difference.
Recovery is basically the backbone. You use this to manage your phone so you can flash new ROM's, Kernels, make backups, restore backups, clear out different cache's, SD card, etc.
How did you root your phone?
If you used unrevoked then you should have the clockwork recovery already installed (boot with holding volume up button).
Yep, i dodged a bullet. All ended well though. Cyanogen 7 rc is installed safely with clockwork recovery onboard to save my ass if i screw up again.
Good to hear
Hi, ive just followed this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=984045
Ive rooted my Htc desire hd, and installed the new rom, now it wont boot right. When it tried to boot after the rom installation it just comes to "htc quietly brilliant" and goes black and that the htc quietly brilliant screen comes back.
I did choose to backup existing rom before i let the clockwork rom manager install the new one. But now the phone wont get past the loading screen, and i dont know what to do.
I appreciate all help i can get, Thanks!

So I was running Cyanogen 7.0 for a couple weeks now and have tried a few others. I downloaded it with clockworkmod and everything was fine until I updated it to the newest one and while it was updating my phone died. Now it is just stuck in blue boot screen with the arrow going around and around. I tried Hboot but every one I pick including recovery, clear storage, and factory reset just gets me stuck on Dinc white boot screen. Trackball isn't responsive here so I us power and when I try to boot with up volume or both up and down with power it just vibrates a couple times and doesn't do anything. (I have to pull battery after this to Hboot or boot with stuck C& screen.) Please help! I have been reading so many threads on here and Cyanogens forums and everyone else seems to fix it with recover from hboot or clockwork recover comes up for them. I am very stumped. I have had a rooted captivate, EVO, and tried moto atrix and back to captivate before deciding to try out Dinc (and verizon)
I had that problem a while ago. I recall using the the in revoked program all over again. Hope that helps

the only solution that I would think can work on this case if going back to stock.. since you said you can get in the HBOOT.. you could be able to go back to stock and then reroot you phone again... I was on similar situation once I flash the alternative recover in RM... and I couldnt get to the Recovery and I had to go back to stock by putting the PB31IMG in the HBOOT to get it working..
You can get the link here..

Click to collapse
Download the file and place it on your sdcard once you get to the HBOOT its gonna ask you if you wanna update.. then just vol - for yes and you are good to go...
Similar Problem
I am facing a similar situation with my Incredible. I was running CM7.0.3 when my phone randomly restarted but only got to the white "HTC Incredible" screen before looping over again.. and again..
I have tried loading the stock image (used the files from dougpiston site) as well as others through the HBOOT but I still cannot get past the "HTC Incredible" boot screen.
Is there something that I am missing? Does anyone else have a suggestion? I know it isn't bricked since I can still get to the HBOOT but I just can't seem to get it to boot an image. I did notice it is still "S-Off" if that matters.
If you cannot get into recovery and flashing a recovery from hboot doesn't work, you may need a new phone. This was mentioned in another thread somewhere recently.
Make sure your sd card is formatted to fat32.
I am running htc clays super cm7 v 2.3 on my g2. everything has been working beautifully. I recently downloaded bootflash lite to change my splash screen. And after I used it and was not happy with it, I uninstalled it (bootflash lite), I reapplied the old splash screen i had before through bootloader. And ever since then I have been getting random reboots. Once it gets past the splash screen it gets stuck on my bootanimation and will not pass unless I pull the battery and restore my backup through recovery. Phone will work for a few minutes afterwards then will do the same thing. Does this have something to do with bootflash lite? where are the splash screens installed when you use it, if i can find it with root explorer and delete it will that help? Is there anyway to fix this?
Seems to reboot after I return back to stock sms
Well if it all happened after you changed boot animation, maybe reflash your nandroid back up of that rom or reflash a fresh rom..bet the problem goes away

Hi, I am the developer of BootFlash. BootFlash installs the splash screen to a partition on your internal memory. This partition is located at /dev/block/mmcblk0p19. I haven't heard of this happening as a result of BootFlash. I have used the app countless times on my phone and have never had a problem. This partition is also known as splash1 when using fastboot.
