[Q] Need help please!!! - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am running htc clays super cm7 v 2.3 on my g2. everything has been working beautifully. I recently downloaded bootflash lite to change my splash screen. And after I used it and was not happy with it, I uninstalled it (bootflash lite), I reapplied the old splash screen i had before through bootloader. And ever since then I have been getting random reboots. Once it gets past the splash screen it gets stuck on my bootanimation and will not pass unless I pull the battery and restore my backup through recovery. Phone will work for a few minutes afterwards then will do the same thing. Does this have something to do with bootflash lite? where are the splash screens installed when you use it, if i can find it with root explorer and delete it will that help? Is there anyway to fix this?

Seems to reboot after I return back to stock sms

Well if it all happened after you changed boot animation, maybe reflash your nandroid back up of that rom or reflash a fresh rom..bet the problem goes away

Hi, I am the developer of BootFlash. BootFlash installs the splash screen to a partition on your internal memory. This partition is located at /dev/block/mmcblk0p19. I haven't heard of this happening as a result of BootFlash. I have used the app countless times on my phone and have never had a problem. This partition is also known as splash1 when using fastboot.

[Q] Unable to restore Incredible to stock 2.2

After messing with a custom ROM downloaded from ROM Manager, I wanted to go back to my original stock 2.2. However, when I went to do the restore of my most recent backup (done before I flashed this most recent ROM) it tells me that the MD5 sum has a mismatch and won't do the restore.
So after doing some research, I try and do a clean restore of the stock 2.2 RUU .zip, but HBOOT tells me that the PB31IMG.zip is out of date and won't do the update.
I have no other backups on my SD card or anywhere else, and I've flashed the phone to a different ROM that was downloaded to my SD card so I at least have a functioning phone. However I want to bring it back to stock in case I have to send the phone to Verizon at some point.
Security is set to S-ON for those who need to know.
Any assistance on this is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

That worked! Restoring my backup now! Thank you!
Ok, after fixing the MD5 error and restoring my backup (and clearing the cache/data/etc) It shows the "HTC Incredible" screen, but then goes black and shows nothing at all. All buttons are unresponsive and a battery pull is necessary to get back into recovery.
What might be happening here?
I've been having the same exact problem. My phone is almost unusable right now after loading a 2.3 ROM onto to it just to see how it worked. I backupped my files and clear my cache before hand, but when I load into HB Boot and click recovery, the phone vibrates, displays the HTC logo, then goes to a black screen with two white bars on the sides. It is unresponsive and requires a battery pull.
I can reboot the phone and get into the 2.3 ROM, but it is slow and buggy. No android market, lots of force closes, and won't load my google account.
I assume the problem has something to do with Clockwork MOD recovery. Any ideas out there?

Actually it does sound like CMR, check the lastest unrevoked rooting thread to get the image and how to install it. This usuallly occurs with the slcd screens. If i'm wrong someone else let me know.
You can go here to get the SLCD recovery: http://www.incredibleforum.com/foru...nly-see-black-screen-white-bars-recovery.html
worked liked a charm. Thanks.

Random Reboot. Help

I charge my phone overnight everynight. There are times when i wake up in the morning my phone is just stuck on the splash screen. What could be the problem?
-I'm Running on CM6.1.1
-I have a customize splash screen and boot animation
-I used unrevoked root and unrevoked s-off
-I noticed that the random reboot happened when wifi is on (noticed this twice, not sure about the other times)
-And this started to happen (from what i remember) when i tried to flash something over my recovery (toast or something like that, i can't remember i was just following a tutorial for me to able to put a new splash screen. It was for fast reboot to work) then i got stuck on a loop in bootloader. Then i flashed CM6.1.1 to get an image.
Help please?
A clean flash of cm 6.1.2 should not give you any issues. Are you using a custom kernel?

Random reboots are usually always caused by a custom kernel that your phone does not like.. I could be wrong but that is my experience anyway...
i had the same exact thing except i actually had 6.1.2 clean with no custom stuff. the only thing custom would be the galaxy s theme i put on it.
i would be trying to go to sleep and i would feel my phone vibrate and then i noticed its rebooting, the rebooting is pretty frequent.
i wiped and restored my original backup and installed all the new stuff (radio/wimax/etc.., except hboot)
right now im gonna install a clean 6.1.2 and see how it goes
No custom kernel. Maybe i just need to manually flash cm6 so i can wipe data 3 or 4 times. I kinda don't trust the rom manager and clockwork work recovery method i feel like it doesnt really wipe everything clean before installing.

How do you un-install a custom ROM
I installed a custom ROM and now (a month or two later) I'm getting reboot after reboot. How do I get rid of the custom ROM?
Also, what does it mean when the phone reboots, then vibrates 5 times and locks up?
To get rid of the custom rom just do wipe through recovery...
And the the locking up? I have no clue why that is... sorry

[Q] Need Help - No Startup after installing ROM/No recovery

Hi everyone.
After rooting my phone, disabling S, instaling Clockwork etc etc. managed to install a ROM while in recovery mode (Clockwork).
Now, when I boot up, I can leave it to boot and it will go past the HTC splash, into the loadup screen for my ROM (Cyanogen), but the load animation just loops.....
If i try boot into recovery.....It vibrates maybe 5 times and the green light stays on at the top where message notification is. It does nothing.
Is there a way to re flash from the PC? My phone is stuck in recovery usb and USB charge if thats of any use.
Thanks.
Well, Ive done a bit of research.
Ive tried re installing various ROMs including origionals.
Managed to boot it into clockwork recovery mode, and instead of re installing the backup I had, I created a new one.
I then figured out how to mount the SD card to my pc and installed a few more ROMs, but those havent worked either.
Currently have this installed;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=842937
But it boots up witht he HTC logo, and then boots up with the quietly brilliant logo. Then it loops and plays the startup sound.
Im really Stuck please help.

And you have deleted the old one? And you didn't store a old backup on your PC?

[Q] Help needed.. black screen

Well i rooted my g2 today, and i was trying to add a new splash screen, i was using Splash-Screen-Creator-v0.02-Beta. I ran everything and after I restarted my phone it starts with a black screen with a multi colored bar ontop, then proceeds to go to the boot animation. I have tried factory formats, formating it in general and even reinstalling ROMs but still it is there, and i am not sure how to get rid of it.
With abd remove the splashscreen creator. Then flash your rom again.

were would i have to look to find it? because i never had to put in a specific location for the splash screen creator.
Ok well i am pretty stuck, i have no idea where to go. I have deleted anything that i found that i may have put in there but it is still there. any ideas on how to fix it?
Maybe you accidentally replaced the splash screen with a black picture with coloured bar?
You should maybe try flash a new splash screen, using a different method (maybe fastboot if you have eng hboot, or a PC10IMG)
-Nipqer
Thanks, that worked, it was my way of making it a .img file that was messing it up. I just dl'd one and it worked fine. Dont know why i kept trying my own haha

[Q] Black Screen on Boot Up

I originally had Runnymede on my phone but have just changed to Revolution3D
Everything said it was installed ok but when I reboot, I get the HTC logo, then a flashing 3d image for a minute or so then it just goes to a black screen and the phone is non responsive. (My PC also doesnt recognise the phone)
Looking for advice on how to try and resolve this or undo the install
Partitioned SD card correctly and wiped everything before flashing new rom?
