Hi, I reset my desire, however I cannot see an option to put back my back ups (messages etc). In 2.1 there was an option to install your back ups, now there isn't.
Is there a way to put back my messages, please help.

Its very easy to backup.
For my contacts: Built in app to export them to SD
SMS - SMSbackup from Android market
Apps/everything else - Titanium back - from Android Market
You can get mybackup pro (Not free) that even backs up your home screens, too. )
Thanks Tander

Hi guys,
I really hate this T9 dailer thing what you get when you click on the phone shortcut in Sense. Is it possible to link this to contacts or even replace the whole dialer with the Android stock one?
Some of you may ask yourself why I hate it.
Reason 1: you dial people by mistake like all the time
Reason 2: you are unable to hide Facebook contacts
Reason 3: the call list is integrated and I normally need longer to find a contact I called before because he's not where you look for him.

Nearly forgot to mention that I am on a rooted HTC Froyo ROM.

What i did was, Flash CM6.1 and then install contact2sim from the market and use it. Contact2sim does not work on the stock sense rom.
Hope that helps!

you don't need an app. you select dialer-> contacts-> import/export->import from simcard.
Yeah I did that but for some reason my rom wont actually do it im running oxygen says its imporyted then nothing in contacts wnt even show then syncd from google will show facebook fine tho :s

have you tried MyPhoneExplorer to pull the numbers from your phone to PC?
probably not what youre looking for....
Even with newest oxygen? Are you sure you have contacts in sim card? Try it in a simple phone. Ie sonyericsson.

I had a similar problem when I imported my contacts from a vCard file on my SD card. They didn't show up in Contacts but did show up in SMS and the call log.
The problem is that by default unsynced contacts are hidden from the list. To show them, hit Menu > Display options, tap your Google account, put a check in "All Other Contacts," then finally tap the Done button. Your unsynced contacts should show up now.
I installed revolution 3.5 the other day, and did a full wipe ect..
I also wiped the SD card, and the same night it sent alot of mms`s with photos i dont have on my sd card to people. Some people got over 10 of them!
These messages was identical to messages i had sent before and even had the original text in them.
WTF is this?
Some sync**** gone wrong?
Might be some infected software, like this one http://www.kaspersky.com/news?id=207576158.
I dont belive that could "respawn" my deleted files and send them as exact copies of MMS messages i have sendt before my phone was formatted.
The same happened to me, did you use MyBackup or MyBackup pro?

Haha!
Maybe something's wrong with your carrier?
It's impossible for a phone to send something nonexistent.

There could be some messages saved to your sim card. Your sim card is used to send messages even though technically its not supposed to store them. For whatever reason sometimes the sim card saves messages as pending then sends them the moment you get your rom up and going. This used to happen to me on the MyTouch. You have to manually delete these messages by way of an app or going into your Messaging app then "Settings" and click "Manage Sim card messages" then hit the menu button and delete all of them. Hope this helps.

Okay I'm running the latest cyanogen rom and all is well besides the fact I've lost some contacts and am unable to store new ones on the sim.
Is there a way around this?

yeppers, use your google account for contacts storage, you will never have a problem
+1
Google account automatically syncs with your phone, no need to hassle with contacts backup/restore Also, it can be used to backup your installed apps automatically (without settings restored tho)
Thank you so much guys

Invaluable tip, thanks very much. Had the same problem.
Pendlebum I downloaded an application called contacts2sim and it will store any numbers you have stored to your phone to your sim. Its a bit of an inconvenience but it works

Hello.
What is the first thing (or first few things) you do after flashing a new ROM?
Me: disable data =D; I get charged like crazy if I leave it on. I turn it back on only when needed.
The very first thing I do is hit reboot in recovery.
via xda app
Ummmm setting up a google account and sync my contacts...

Same here, make sure I'm signed into my google account and get all my contacts back. Or else I get texts from people and don't know who they're from
Praying to god this would be my last flash. I managed to accomplish that.
Restore contacts and accounts
same here, then reboot.
I disable data..enable wifi and set up my google account, change my wallpaper and titanium restore.
The first thing I do is fill my Google Account in order to reinstall my free apps from the Market and my address book contacts to see if the memory below Ext is well behaved and if so restored with titanium backup.
disabling/freezing apps/services that i dont want, and make my data connection 2g for more batter : O)
Coffee and cigarette and thinking about next step/rom
