First thing after new ROM - Desire General

Hello.
What is the first thing (or first few things) you do after flashing a new ROM?
Me: disable data =D; I get charged like crazy if I leave it on. I turn it back on only when needed.

The very first thing I do is hit reboot in recovery.
via xda app

Ummmm setting up a google account and sync my contacts...

I also restore settings with Titanium (these green "apps" in the list)

Waiting for about half an hour until my apps automatically be downloaded and installed (i guess it happens over my google acount) and the reboot

I'll make cookies for my kids.

For me, its getting rid of apps I won't use with Titanium and getting the apps2sd all set up so I have all my space to play around with

Same here, make sure I'm signed into my google account and get all my contacts back. Or else I get texts from people and don't know who they're from

Praying to god this would be my last flash. I managed to accomplish that.

Restore contacts and accounts

same here, then reboot.

I disable data..enable wifi and set up my google account, change my wallpaper and titanium restore.

The first thing I do is fill my Google Account in order to reinstall my free apps from the Market and my address book contacts to see if the memory below Ext is well behaved and if so restored with titanium backup.

disabling/freezing apps/services that i dont want, and make my data connection 2g for more batter : O)

Coffee and cigarette and thinking about next step/rom

[Q] Marketplace Account Switch

I have just installed the leaked GB rom and its all gone fine and is running perfectly expect the market.
I have two googlemail accounts (for the ease of explanation here A & B)
All my market purchases and downloaded are stored under account A, but for some reason if I go to the market there is nothing listed under "Apps" if I go to buy a new app it lists account B as the one which it wants to buy an app under.
How do I change from account B to A so the market place updates with my old purchases and will sync with https://market.android.com/ which has ALL my downloaded under my account.
Thanks
When you set up the phone, was the first Google account you added A or B? It needs to be A as primary.
If B you have no choice but to wipe / hard reset.

It was B (dont know why I did that) if I do a factory reset now and then when it reboots enter account A will it sync to that account as primary?

Much appreciated!

HTC desire running Cmod 7 issues.

Okay I'm running the latest cyanogen rom and all is well besides the fact I've lost some contacts and am unable to store new ones on the sim.
Is there a way around this?

yeppers, use your google account for contacts storage, you will never have a problem

Google account automatically syncs with your phone, no need to hassle with contacts backup/restore Also, it can be used to backup your installed apps automatically (without settings restored tho)
Thank you so much guys

Invaluable tip, thanks very much. Had the same problem.
Pendlebum I downloaded an application called contacts2sim and it will store any numbers you have stored to your phone to your sim. Its a bit of an inconvenience but it works

Market apps unwanted syncing

Hey all,
Been having an issue and wanted to know if anyone has experienced the same thing.
I recently added a second Gmail account for my school email, and the first time it automatically downloaded some apps that I guess were downloaded from the market under that account. This is fine and I expected that, however...
I deleted all of the apps it downloaded because I don't want them anymore. A little while later it proceeded to download them all AGAIN without me doing anything. I deleted them a second time and then when I got home and connected to the wifi, it again downloaded all of the same apps.
Any idea on why it is doing this?
Thanks

Thanks. So it's normal for it to "restore" my apps more than once after adding an account, and after I delete them multiple times?

do you save them by phone or on your computer. Be sure you have your google account selected instead of phone or sim, or do you use multiple google accounts?
you could try
save a contact on your phone
check on gmail if the new contact is present
switch roms en check on your phone
Hi,
I do it by phone and when i save them i select google.
I only use 1 google account.
Its with every rom even when i use RUU my contacts are gone

Have you made a nandroid backup or titanium backup...that will have your contacts...else i guess there is no other way...however if i find one..i ll get back to u..!!
:good:
Surely your Google contacts are on Google servers? www.google.com/contacts
But i guess the OP says that he has deleted google account contacts..i dont knw if he means to say whether he deleted them of google servers or from his phone..!!
Google have a history of them anyway, you can revert to an older version of your phone book from that link.
OK thats great...!! great to knw that..ll keep it in mind..!!
Cheers..!!
