I got the idea of a boot splash, mixing the traditional japanese sunburst with the cyanogenmod logo. But, i dont really have any decent programs for editing photos (currently using the always-professional Paint) So i was wondering if anyone could maybe polish it up for me, and throw in the android logos in there as well (please!). Or, if anyone could point me in the right direction of a good windows photo editor. Either one would be much appreciated!
I love all the work on this forum, so i thought i might be able to contribute in my own little way. Thanks in advance!
Get GIMP. Free and open-source, and just about as powerful as PhotoShop.
Thanks! This is perfect. Certainly much better than paint

I am thinking of buying the TMobile Shadow unlocked. Are there any mods available for the shadow?
I want to get rid of the Tmobile icons and customization, probably remove bloat and make it a baseline WinMo6 install, is this possible?
Any ROMs?
Any suggestions, I didnt find anything on the HTC Shadow/Juno.
Appreciate any help.
J
Ditto ...
Been hoping for the same thing. I have an extracted os.nb file, but I don't have the time to hack and would rather leave that to the experts in here. If anyone out there reads this and can build a stripped ROM for the T-Mobile Shadow, post a reply and let me know. I have a solid plan for a "vanilla" rom.
I just received my unlocked TMO Shadow, and all the reading that I have done indicates that TMO has simply placed their branding on the NEO interface.
My best source of info has come from http://www.freddyreyes.com/
The site has all kinds of how to's for modding the interface to suit your taste. Like the old days with the Moto MPX220......I can see many sleepless nights getting it just right
Ok........full day of mods done..........manually removed most of the Tmobile bloatware. Took the posts, along with a few on Howard Forums and learned how to manually modify the NEO interface at the registry level (really quite simple once you know where to look).
Customized the interface with various appropriate icons, and then I have backed it all up with Spritebackup.
.........this is usually the time where some rom cooker comes in and provides the latest version of windows mobile ...... 6.1.......and makes all my work worthless.
So who is gonna step up to the plate and cook us up a 6.1 rom to try ???

I'm curious as to see how the OEMs incorporate their today screens w/the advanced screen of WM 6.1. It seems like its either you have the WM6.1 today screen OR you have the Neo today screen.
Hi
it just occured to me that XDA is using the vBulletin license and as a owner of vBulletin myself, I know how 'easy' it is to make a personalized theme for the forum.
So what I want to say here is really just: Why don't you have a more graphic theme already? The options for vBulletin is soooo extensive, and you could still use the current theme as a standard.
When I see this forum, owning the HD2, I get an urge to have it converted to an as glossy style as the Sense 2.5 UI.
Can't anyone make a theme for this forum? I see there are some plugins added to the script so modding the standard forum may not be enough.. so I guess you need a bit of authorization.. (or maybe a copy of the current theme-file could be enough)
BTW: I really don't want to give it a shot myself as I tend to get too caught up in projects like that, forgetting to eat, smoke, drink, go to the bathroom and so on d:
PS! A good idea might be to make a frontpage of the forum split in half (if you go to forum.xda-developers.com, the root, and maybe just for first time users), demonstrating both designs, and to enter the site you have to click the half you want to set for the forum.. or something. A more fresh look could bring more users.....

Niiice!
Thanks for a great response! ^^
Also glad this is being worked on...should improve the graphic looks a lot!
Goooood Ideas
Of course I support - creating a new graphic for the xda-dev
I have been searching around for a Resident Evil theme and/or boot animation and haven't found much for the EVO. I thought an entire resident evil or Umbrella corp theme would be pretty sweet.
Any crafty DEV's feel like tackling it?
I am all about it. If it gets done i will be #1 to install.
I think that will be an awesome idea, I will use that if it comes out.
I love the idea I would be #2 to install it.
Would love to see this happen.
I would really like to see this I love Resident Evil (the games and the movies) and I don't care what number I am I just want it!
Well at least I am not the only one. Good to know there is some other interest in the idea. Hopefully if the interest continues to grow then we might be able to see one in development.
not until someone that actually knows how to do it becomes interested. its much easier to find pps willing to flash a new theme than it is finding a themer to produce it....it will be advantageous to yourself to learn how to do it yourself. theming is not very hard, mostly just png viewing/swapping. fyi, a full theme can take someone up to a week or even much longer than that,so a request is nice, but offering help to a themer is a much better way to get your theme produced if you cant do it yourself...grab images,pics,gifs,etc... and post them up for said themer to work with as a base for your suggested theme.
edit:
i like RE too, but dont have time to complete a theme for pps, plus this theme will be going to a select few pps, and when you produce a theme upon request, you would like it to reach as many people as possible since it tends to be very time consuming....in other words, for a themer to produce this theme with 2 or 3 replies in the thread, and no interest of their own may not be very likely, however i wish you all good luck. sorry i am too busy to take on this theme....but you increase your odds of production, when....
1.the themer wants the theme themself
2.EVERYONE here would love the theme
3.you give the themer a starting point for basing the theme(images,logos,etc...)
4.learn to theme yourself(i am one of those picky pps with bad taste so i had to do it this way)
I totally understand, I would love to build it myself, but am not at a point yet where i even understand where to begin (though i am reading up on it) I have several idea's in mind as far as images and icons, boot ani. With the more i read on it, i may be willing to try and create one. Thanks for the input
Magnus has the right idea. Post some images and resources here. Screencaps of interfaces and such. That might be enough to inspire somebody to make it happen.

without paying $2.50 for Logo Me? Seems somewhat silly to me to pay for what seems like a rather easy mod. However, I couldn't find any definitive answer on how to manually change the splash screen.
Its worth it.. I'm usually very cheap especially with something so simple. Just buy the app and support the developer. Besides I have a thread of a bunch of images pre sized for use.
And take requests for personal logos.
For the record its not a simple mod... this requires breaking down the images in the bootloader and taking the custom images converting them to bootloader images.. so its a simple thought but a lot of work behind it.

It is way worth the $2.50. When it was first figured out how to do this on the Xoom I changed the boot image once manually and it was kind of a PITA. The result was totally not worth the effort. When team EOS put out their app to change the logo it made it fun. Same with logo me, it makes it simple and fun. Ezekeel took the time to map the process and build it into a usable UI within an app. To simply answer you.. yes it can be done manually. But you won't catch me doing it that way!!
Support the dev it's worth it

Nevermind
it's not a simple mod.if it was a simple mod,we have already many methods and devs did this.with the app buying you support the works of the dev,and i assicure you that he spent al least a week or more to have info from users via dab terminal and coding the app.worth the buy in my opinion, otherwise yo can try yourselves if you have the ability..
take a look MANUALLY how it's on asus trasformer the change of logo and make you an idea.(not workin on gnex i think, not try)

sometimes modding your phone is fun for the aspect of modding it, not everyone likes the "there's an app for that" revolution. Not that Im one of them, Im just saying lol
A SPECIFIC guide on the other hand, is VERY useful to some people. Its unfortunate that there isnt a guide for the g-nex specifically.

I totally agree. I have no desire to change my splash screen, but I would like to know how to do it, for the purposes of learning.

Hi guys! I'm Vendetta, and I am a freelance graphic/web designer and a Captivate Glide user.
I personally enjoy coming up with new inventive ways to brighten up, alter, or improve the
graphical user interface of Android devices, since I am Glide user, I have chose to focus
on themeing mainly for this phone. Granted when CMX is released for us by DMan and the
other developers, I will also begin themeing for CM as well.
Anyway, the point of this thread, is to get some feedback from you guys about what are some
ideas for themes you'd enjoy seeing on your device. I'd appreciate some ideas, as I am mostly
themeing for others to use, it would certainly help with my future projects if I could have some
ideas the community would truly enjoy. So what I am asking, is toss up some ideas about what
you want your phone to look like, your input can be as simple or elaborate as you'd like.
I am already working on the Glide's first theme which can be found in the Glide Theme and Apps
section, so my next project will largely be guided on what you guys are looking for. So take up
the opportunity to get your ideas put into motion. I feel this could be a great way to truly spice
up our device. I feel collaboration and sharing ideas is a great way to kickstart the opening up
of our device and open up the options I and you guys have for our device. Since I am not a strong
programmer, this is my way of giving back to the community here. So throw up some ideas and lets
get some collaboration going, and really bring our device alive.
It should go without say, if I use your ideas in any of my projects, you will receive credit for the idea
or inspiration.
Thanks for reading guys, and I look forward to your ideas!
- Vendetta
Awesome! I haven't had themes on my phone since my Sony Ericsson k850i. My trend back then was usually really simple looking & kiddish. Like I had one with a paper like background and then the fonts / icons looked like they were cutely hand drawn by a 5 year old.
