Hi,
My Touch Pro2 is connected to AC adapter for many hours and led is on (red), but the battery indicator doesn't increase or decrease, it's always %80, I tried to charge it while it's turned off, and I tried to charge through USB, but problem persists.
I own this device for 9 months.
What's wrong?
Please help.
Thanks
It may be worth it to try the battery calibration method described here. even though it is for android, it's worth a shot. I know it wont pass the first step, but maybe somewhere in there it will kick in.
It's also worth powering off, taking out the battery, hitting the power button a few times, then put the battery back in, power on, then try to charge. If that doesn't work, repeat the previous but try to charge without turning back on.
If all else fails, it may be time to try a new battery, or a warranty exchange. I think you have a year to do that as long as it was not purchased as a refurbished model.
good luck!

Thanks for replying.
I tried to power off, take out the battery, hit the power button a few times, but didn't fix the issue.
I've been using my device without charging for the whole day and battery is always 80%, never decrease.
I'm trying to use my device until the battery is totally empty, then charge it.
Sorry that didn't work for you. I just noticed the intended link for the battery calibration didn't make it to the post. Don't know if I forgot, or it just got stripped b/c I miss-formatted the hyperlink. But here it is if you want to try it (assuming your depletion experiment doesn't work):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=755903
This was different from my second recommendation that you already tried...
Also, have you installed any battery drivers (such as the 1% one?) Could be a corrupted driver that needs to be replaced.
I formatted my device, nothing changed.
The recommendation mentioned in the link says that I allow the phone to charge until the notification LED is green, but the LED can't turn into green because the battery indicator is always %80, and doesn't increase at all.
LED is turned into green when the indicator is %100.

Yah, I was thinking it might work if you skip that step and move on to the next part. Granted, I'm just shooting in the dark here. The fact that it is not changing at all (up or down) seems to indicate it is a software/hardware issue rather than the battery anyway. Maybe someone else where have some better ideas...

try to install a new battery driver or reinstall the one ur using if you are using a cooked one such as the 1% driver
one more suggestion: have you tried charging it while its turned off?

Battery Not Charging
Hi,
Any problem with the mini usb port? I had a similar problem and had the port replaced by Dr. Cellphone. now it works perfectly.

It's unlikely, but still possible the driver for the battery was corrupted in a way that even hard reseting does not fix it. Its worth it to try a new driver even though you have not messed with the one that came with it. (not like it can get any worse, right?) You can find the 1% battery driver at the top of the rhodium general subforum.

Here's a wierd one,
No problem with flashing several roms but now the phone will not turn on.
Sometimes I can get it to turn on by connecting to mains charger and then let it 'charge'. Mind, there are no lights at all indicating the charge is working. Then, if I remove the charge cable then remove the battery only for a little time and replace it the phone may turn on.
bugger !
doesnt sound god
try take out the batt for 1 houre and then set it back in before trying to turn it on attack it to the c´harger and see if it begin to light as it shut
Thanks will try
Do you have another battery to try? it could be an issue with that
looks like a battery issue, but you can't be sure until you try it.
Yes folks thanks, I have three (yes sad) batteries, the original which used to last barely a day, then the official HTC extended and also a Mugen 3000mAh monster. There is definatively a problem with power getting through when the phone is off. Even when I manage to get it on, if I soft reset is stays in the off state. Also, when plugged in there are no charging lights at all. It does charge when on, the lights work and of course the software indicates it is charging. Problem now though, it's been off for two days and I just can't get it back on. I want to try a stock rom to see if this helps. It's my own fault, I know the risks with cust roms but this seems to be more hardware you know. Thanks again.
Hey guys, I got a real big problem.
I've got a Rhodium100, but it won't charge nor it'll boot.
When connected to original charger or pc the phone starts. Then I can see the HTC logo and it dies again. The battery seems to be totally dead
What I've triend so far:
1. Pulled out the battery
2. Multiple cabels for the charger
3. Soft reset
4. Hard reset (won't complete because the battery is dead)
5. Checked the on/off button (on top)
What else can I do to fix this problem? I'd like to try anything before sending the phone to HTC (did that 2 times before, but with other problems).
This is what happens: MOVIE
Thanks in advance

Buy a new battery and see if that helps. There are some cheap ones on ebay.
I just found another cable and it seems to be he's charging again. But after 5 hours of charging it's still on 40%.
When the battery-level is around 45% it goes downwards to around 38% and then to 45 again..
This is circulating..
How can this be?
You shouldn't let the battery completely die in the first place. A deep discharge of any Lithium Ion battery is not recommended because of this. If you've tried to do a hard reset and it did not complete, you may have destroyed the ROM image. If it doesn't turn back on, flash a stock ROM.
Always try to charge the device before it gets to 5% remaining battery. 10% is recommended, but 5% is the lowest the battery should ever be. Having a second battery is always a good idea. I have two of them and an external battery charger. This way, I can always have a battery able to charge without needing the device just in case something goes awry.
Make sure you do not turn the device on. Leave the battery in the device overnight on the charger without turning it on. If it still does not function after this, you might try purchasing another battery and charger.
If you have time left on your warranty, this is covered by it. Simply call your carrier or HTC and they will fix it for you. It's generally faster to go through your carrier if you have the option to do so.
Thanks for the tips. I followed them and it seems to be my phone is fully working again!

I have the same problem since august 2010. I've do the same as you flashing some ROM's also restoring original one(T-Mobile), buying new akku ang external charger- but nothing helps When I place battery in phone it switches on by self(seems like power button abridget but I've checked it with testing device), starting showing T-Mobile logo "Stick together" then shows windows logo then backlight fading then device restarts, so it happen infinite till battery fully goes empty. Now on phone is installed original ROM and I can't install any other- in bootloader I can install only SPL's, but other ROM's not installs (flashing process freezes on 0%). I haven't any ideas, somebody can help me? Thank you all.

It's a dead battery. If it powers on by itself, then you'll either want to get a new battery or an external battery charger. Make sure you're charging from the wall, and not a USB port.

Yes, I do as you suggest - bought new battery and wall charger, but no result. I doubt that new battery or charger is destroyed, but anything is possible... What actually kind of problem if phone couldn't do hard reset, not upgding ROM, also switches on when battery is placed into? 100% fault (discharged) battery?

I mentioned that you may need to charge the battery externally if it is powering on when you insert the battery. You'll either need a friend's phone to charge it, or buy an external charger. With the external charger, let it sit on the charger overnight, pop it in the phone, and then try again. If using an external charger does not work, then you may want to send the device in for repairs/replacement.
Battery charge indicator 2.3.5 upgrade problem
Hello everyone. This is my first time come to xda-developers form.I'm from china.
Yesterday I update my wildfire S(China mainland Edition)to 2.3.5+Sense3.0 lockscreen(Taiwan Edition)'s ROM.
I charge my bbttery yesterday evening.I turn off my phone.
When charge compalate.I found that the LED light didn't change green. It was still orange.
Why?How to solve it?
PS:Maybe my post have some Grammar problem。I hope that you can Bear with it.
Try factory reset see if it helps.
Backup important information and personal stuff first.
Just try the procedure of taking the battery out, sim card, micro sd etc etc and see if that works...
are you using the stock battery?
i used to notice with my (so called) extended battery 2430mah Gold battery, the software would say it was 100% charge, but it stayed orange for around another hour or two, then eventually turned green...i assume this is because the phone software had misjudged the charge level...so although it THOUGHT it was 100% full, it was actually still charging?
so if you have changed the battery at all, leave it charging for a bit longer (only an hour or so) and see if it goes out?
should be safe, as the batteries themselves usually have an auto shut off safety to stop them from being over-charged.
I get the exact same on ALL custom ROMs, never on Stock though, would love a fix!

Since I unlocked my phone's bootloader, rooted and installed custom recovery I have the same problem too.
If I charge the battery with the phone turned on, the led turns green at 100% and everything is fine.
If I charge the battery with the phone off, the led stays orange forever even when I disconnect the charger. Then I have to remove the battery and insert it again so that the led turns off. If I wait enough time charging the battery reaches 100%.
This is a strange sympton that only started with the rooting/recovery flashing process.
Oh and BTW the way, I use stock battery but now I'm waiting for the arrival of two batteries I ordered on eBay.
One is a Li-Ion 1500 mAh and the other a Li-Polymer 2430 mAh.
Will see if the same happens when they arrive but I'm almost 100% sure this has something to do with the bootloader unlocking process.
Does anybody know how to fix this? I would really appreciate it.

Same as, pain in the arse!
Great news! At least on my phone this problem is gone.
You wonder how? Simply by updating recovery to v5.0.2.8 from ROM Manager.
I almost didn't notice it it but a few hours ago I plugged my phone to the charger while still on. After finishing my work I turned it off (no fastboot).
In the meanwhile I needed to use my phone far from the wall plug and disconnected the usb charger cable.
My gesture was to immediately remove back cover to remove the battery but fortunately I noticed the orange led went off.
So I decided to plug it again and wait for the charge to complete and for the green led. It did!
So run to the Market, download ROM Manager and let it update your recovery to the latest version.
I hope this annoying pest won't bother you no more.

Not what the problem was or related to, it was an outdated ROM manager app that caused it...
First of all - yes, I know that this problem is (allegedly) a common one, but mine differs from every case I found on XDA (and on other forums). I have tried every fix I found related to similar issues, to no effect.
I am S-OFF, rooted, and have the latest JellyTime release installed (R9). I am on JellyTime since R7, and no issues were observed whatsoever until now. I use EXT4 recovery (the latest stable build), and have installed no kernels or radios. Phone was fully wiped before flashing R9.
For the past week or so, my Desire is having troubles charging. It would sometimes show as charging, and turn the red LED on, but in fact the battery is discharging - and much more quickly than when plugged off the charger. Also, the LED is often wrong about it's status. It would turn green when on less than 100%, once even at about 80% - pretty far from 100%, if you ask me. I tried to calibrate the battery three times (using battery calibrator), and the problem came back a day after the calibration (at most).
Yesterday, as I went to sleep, I left my phone connected to the charger, and the same thing happened. When I woke up, the battery was depleted (about 4% when I woke it from hibernation). I changed the cable and the charger and when to class, returning to the same situation.
Later that day, I bought a Sandisk Ultra 64GB MicroSDXC memory card. I partitioned it using GParted, creating both EXT4 and SWAP partitions next to the main FAT32 one. I transferred a few apps to the EXT4 partition using AppMgrIII (only those without the little grey warning sign).
Everything seemed to be in order, but a few hours later my screen went black (it was still on, though), and nothing I did fixed the situation. Naturally, I removed and inserted my battery. Since then, my device is completely dead. I won't turn on, and won't charge. A list of thing I tried:
1. Just connecting to charger: no effect, even after a few hours. No LED light. Same when changing cable/charger/connecting to PC.
2. Connecting to charger when battery is removed: No LED light, unless I play with the cable - then there's a flash of red LED every now and then. The LED flashes only once every time - when I stop fidgeting with the cable at the angle in which the light flashed, nothing else happens until I resume the fidgeting.
3. Pressing the power button - I tried that for 10 seconds and 30 second, both had no effect.
4. Covering the middle bars on the battery, and leaving the phone connected to charger (then removing tape and turning on) - no effect.
5. Putting the battery in the fridge for 10 minutes and trying again - no effect.
6. Charging the battery outside device, with a cut-down USB-MicroUSB cable (proven working in the past, BTW).
As you can see, I searched for solutions quite a lot - and even though it seems like the same problem every one, it is different in that the LED is not working on any condition. Anyway, no solution I found fix the problem.
Does anyone have any idea what the hell is going on with my phone?
Not a fix but a roundabout solution would be to buy a second battery and battery charger, then you wouldnt need to charge the phone at all!
Check out this item I found on eBay: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=400471194202
Edit: I get the impression it may be the charging port on the phone that could be to blame
Not a charge level issue

OK, but I really don't think this is the problem - for example, what I understood from other threads is that when connected to charger, with battery removed, my DHD's LED is supposed to flash in green and red. Like I mentioned above, that is not what happens with my phone. Do you have another idea?

From what I gather, either the phone (the phone itself, or just the usb port), the battery or the charger is at fault and you've got to narrow that down. That will be loads easier if you find someone with a dhd that could help you.

Without another phone, or desktop battery charger cradle, your left with a voltmeter option, but you need to be able to charge it first lol (I really dont recommend cutting a usb cable and just using that, that could cause more problems! - id really want you to get the cradle for £4 including battery, then you have a new battery that you can assume works properly, a charging cradle that again you can assume work properly so only leave the phone at fault if it doesnt work. Potentially a waste of money if the phones dead but also potentially the best £4 you ever spent! Nb if you do opt for the cradle it maybe woth looking for an option that dispatched from your own country for speed in the post but that will increase the cost by a little bit)

Hello,
I've tried to solve this on another thread but was instructed to make a new thread to get more visibility.
Last night I set the latest update to start 5am. I had about 50-70% battery and the phone was connected to nearly full 13000mAh power bank.
This morning when I woke up I was wondering why doesn't the power bank indicate any charging light so I picked my phone and it was dead. I clicked power bank and it started charging. So the thing what happened here was that the phone started updating and somehow rejected the charging current of the power bank which made the power bank to stop charging. After that the phone started updating firmware, drained all battery and got bricked.
You might ask why the hell would I use power bank when I update firmware? Well, it does automatically charge when I plug it in, so it should have stayed on all the time. It also provides enough power to charge the phone for more than 2 times, so I would consider it as being same as being charged from a regular charger, because its also as fast so has quite the same charging current. It is a mystery how did the phone reject charging current and how did not the power bank start recharging as fast as possible.
The problem
The phone is being bricked. I have charged it today about 3 hours with power bank, 1,5 hours with computer and now around 4-6 hours with regular charger. If I try to hold reset / power / volume- / volume+ / power & volume+ / power & volume- any of those for at least 10 seconds, nothing happens. Only thing that happens is the red led stops blinking and stays on red when I hold power. Sony companion wont recognize it. I accidentally tried to fix firmware which orders to hold vol- and then connect but it doesn't connect. The reason this was an accident is that I absolutely do not want to lose all my files, so I need to somehow get my firmware working again without losing pictures, videos or text messages (notes there) or voiding my warranty. So luckily I didn't manage to get the fix firmware to work cuz it should delete everything. Also pressing reset for 2 minutes does the same so I discard that option for now. The battery should be full by now, I have also tried changing the charger after I noticed I had 2 identical Sony chargers one charging power bank and another on this z5p and only that one charging power bank was hot and another one charging phone was maybe a little warm. After I changed them the situation became opposite.
Is there anything I could do to save my files and make this crap work again? It is quite frustrating now because the most important thing are my files, not even the overpriced phone (and I guess factory reset can get it work but thats the last option, I absolutely need those files:crying
PS. sorry for so long story.
sorry for the typos.
Now the charger is only a little warmer than room temperature, but still blinking red and not responding.

Hello,
I've tried to solve this on another thread but was instructed to make a new thread to get more visibility.
Last night I set the latest update to start 5am. I had about 50-70% battery and the phone was connected to nearly full 13000mAh powerbank.
This morning when I woke up I was wonderhing why doesn't the powerbank indicate any charging light so I picked my phone and it was dead. I clicked powerbank and it started charging. So the thing what happened here was that the phone started updating and somehow rejected the charging current of the powerbank which made the powerbank to stop charging. After that the phone started updating firmware, drained all battery and got bricked.

From what I understanded before, I thought you charged 7 hours directly to an outlet, but you switched between powerbank, and pc too?
Well this is kind of my mistake because I said try connecting it to pc in between.
After reading this more detailed explanation, I would strongly suggest to just leave it charging directly to an outlet.
For atleast about 6-8 hours just as a first try to try to solve the issue (hopefully) without having to take more desperate measures lol.
So start with charging again, sorry for the misunderstanding.... it is partially or maybe mostly my fault :silly:

Thanks for still helping me out here
I'll leave it charging "from the wall". However power bank also provides high power and I'm worried about the charger temperature, so could it just charge it very very slow cuz no heat is building up. Anyways, it should have charged like 3 times by now but ill give it 10 hours now. Ill update here later what happens.
No problem, I kmow how it sucks to have a bricked phone.
I just did a quick research on XDA and found this thread: http://forum.xda-develaopers.com/showthread.php?t=1849170
it is really alot to read... but if you want to have the best chance to unbrick your phone and hopefully still have all your files, I think you should read it before you take any other drastic actions.
I think this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33032165&postcount=2 is the most interesting for you
You will need flashtool to save your phone, but this doesn't automatically means you have to flash the full firmware (which will erase all files on the phones internal storage).
I know you are hesitant to use flashtool but at some point I think you have no other options sometimes.
BUT.... dont worry, MAYBE you are lucky and just flashing the kernel part of the firmware might fix your problem.
Im not going to add it here as I dont want to be the one to blame when accidentally providing the wrong file for your phone lol.
So I think you should read that guide and see what exactly applies to your issue, and then before you do anything just ask in that thread for help.
Start by telling you aren't even familiar with flashtool yetso they can help you faster. And let them help you to (if needed) correctly flash the correct kernel file to your device.
I think they can help you much better than me, because they have more knowledge,
and know better how to put all info it into context to make it understandable for people who aren't really familiar with al this.
Also it saves me alot more typework lol.
Ill still keep an eye to your thread to see if you manage to fix your brick and maybe answer (some questions) when I have time.
Better to just ask questions in the recovery thread, but who knows... if you post double and Iknow the answer, ithat would be luck and get you back into your phone faster hopefully
Enough writing for today..... your welcome :silly:
Good luck, be patient, and dont worry (like they also mention in the recovery guide)

Ok it has been charging for about 12 hours extra now, total 24h. Still blinking red. not connecting to PC, still reacting to hold power / hold power and hold vol - with continuous red. Reset wont do anything.

Copied from above linked thread:
YOU NEED TO RESET YOUR PHONE!
If your phone is soft-brick and does nothing when, -the buttons are pressed, -a charger is plugged in, -or if the screen is still ON then....
The memory chips need lose power to clear the bad data and reset the phone. Either by the battery going dead or by unplugging the battery.
You can to leave the phone on a charger to see when the battery dies. Usually the battery will not charge in a soft-brick state and will die while still plugged in. After the reset you should then get the red led. However if you get a red led immediately when first plugged in and no response but red led for a long time, then you may need to leave the phone unplugged and let the battery die.
Only after the chips reset will you get the red led. The RED LED should mean the phone is charging in 'low battery level charge mode'.
Once you get the red led, after the reset, do NOT try to turn on the phone. If you try to start the phone now without fixing the problem you will have to start all over.
So maybe if keeping it plugged for so long doesn't work, leaving it unplugged and wait for the battery to die will help?
Ask for more help in the thread I linked
Was bored @ school, so was looking for some more easy to follow info for you.
Have a look at this thread too, mainly im talking about just trying to see if flashtool can reccognize the phone and if not, read and follow the driver install section and see if that changes anything

Don't give up to easy man[emoji14]
I'm sure you can get your phone working again but you have to take the time to read threads and try everything you can
Okay. Let us know when you got it back from repair shop

Ok its ready to pick up from repair. They coudln't fix it. Lets take a look at those threads.
I don't know but I guess the service dude checked if the battery was dead? But still I'm thinking that it could be one possibility.

Hey
Im not very suprised they couldn't fix it.
I wonder though if they even did anything, so you should ask them about what they did.
Once you have your phone back, I would start with this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19684920&postcount=2
If this doesn't help, you can proceed with the other threads I linked in earlier posts and give them a careful read
@XperiassinceZ1
Haven't heard in a while, I assume this means your phone is fixed or?
Was just curious lol.
