Hi guys,
Something weird happend yesterday. When I was watching a movie, my phone woke up from sleep mode and on the upper right corner a car icon was blinking, at the notifications bar.
When I drag the bar down it says: "Car mode is enabled, select to exit"
When I exit car mode, it appears again after some minutes.
How can I get rid of that?
Already tried rebooting.
I'm at stock 2.2 rom unrooted

If all fails, a factory reset.
Somewhere on the forum there is info this can be deliberately triggered by a short on the micro USB - wild card thought, but are the contacts clean on your cable and the socket on the phone?

its worked!
then i synced my phone and the icon came back along with the "USB debugging connected" icon
i then pulled the usb cable and both icons disappeared! thanks
Two other things, is there a way to disable the bleep noise when i connect a usb cable to my phone and does "USB debugging" need to be enabled for "HTC Sync" to work? i tried disabling it and it disabled sync as well.
Hey , I have had my desire a few weeks now. I have a problem with it.
Every time i make a phone call or accept a phone call the phone will switch to speaker phone. This happens before i put the phone up to my ear so it is not my face that is turning on speaker phone. If i hold the phone in my hand and dial a number and press call, it goes to speaker phone. If the phone rings and i answer it, it will always go straight to speak phone.
Has anyone had this problem?
My guess: somehow your phone thinks it's charging/docking. Check your connector for dirt.
If nothing else helps you could try this app (actually a widget) in the Market:
Car Mode
With this you can turn the speaker phone mode on/off. Unless your phone has a hardware problem that forces it to be always on...

The connection seems fine to me. I will put a can of compressed air to it tomorrow. Cheers

I tried the app.. Unfortunately it didn't work. I may have to send the phone back to htc.

Don't bother before you flash to stock ROM/do a full wipe (factory reset). If none of those work, it's likely borked
Hi all !
I have been stuck for 2 weeks on this issue.
I have tried all those things :
- Switch off and then switch on the phone
- Remove and reinsert the battery
- Remove and reinsert the SIM Card
- Clean up the USB connector (and there were lots of dusts inside)
- Hard reset to the factory settings
Nothing has solved the problem.
BUT I have found a SOLUTION and also a process to see if you have the same problem as me :
1) Create a shortcut on your home screen and add this shortcut : Shortcut -> Parameter -> Car dock (the icon is a padlock)
2) Click on this shortcut and enable Auto start feature
3) A little car icon will appear in the status bar if there is a short circuit at that moment
4) Take your mini usb cable and plug it into the phone usb connector (without connecting the cable to an electrical outlet nor your PC, we don't want to charge the phone, in fact it doesn't matter but I advice you to not charge it during the process)
5) Now track if the car icon is present, if it is, just move up and down and left and right the cable to check if it's not a hardware short circuit like it is for me (!!). If the car icon appears and disappears during the process while you are moving the cable, then it's a hardware short circuit problem (nothing to do with some kind of software bug as mentioned by some people).
To fix the problem permanently you have 2 choices :
5.1) Take your phone back to the shop
5.2) My solution if you are a lazy man like I am : use the cable to twist correctly the male connector (the one inside the phone) to the correct position. For me the correct position was : lay down your phone on a table, screen upwards, you must twist the connector upwards too. The direction to twist the connector is from the bottom (the table) to the up (the screen) = If you take your phone in front of you and you are looking at the screen, twist the connector towards yourself.
I have fixed the problem this way.
I hope you will be able to fix it too.
Jérémy.
I ve got HDH and I ve instaled 'all call recorder' since then everithing was okay...but after 1-2 weeks this issue was happening speaker always on on recieving call or making a call.so my oppinion uninstal(if you have) call recorder app.it will fix this issue.cheers!
Is there a way to stop the desk clock automatically opening when the Desire is connected to a power source? It's really bugging me.
Only started since updating to one of the more recent Leedroid ROMs. I've been through all the menus and spare parts and can't see a way to stop this.
The answer may be staring me in the face.
Thanks.
When you say power source do you mean a charger or docking station? I am using one of the standard roms and don't have this problem on my desire.

Yeah I get this on 2.1a, each new version I get I think is going to fix it but never does! Also sometimes the home key gets pressed so it zooms out to show all homescreens.
To clarify, when plugging in USB I get clock and when unplugging I get homescreen view.
You've checked settings, of course?
Hi guys
I have a stock DHD, which ran well, till I did an OTA upgrade.
Android 2.3.5
Sense 3.0
Software 3.13.161.3
Now there is this irritating navigation/location app that keeps on popping up.
I disagreed with the license, still it popped up.
I purchased the license key to see if it will stop, and it don't.
But the thing is, it is not the standard nav or location of the phone. it is something else, which I don't know, and I can't find it on my menu. I have to wait for it to pop up before I can access it.
The map on it is route66.
When I tap my phone button, there is a button for this app on the right side where the people button should be. But the weird thing is, it is not always there. When this app is active, the phone goes to speakerphone by default when making/receiving calls.
I am close to putting my DHD into a drum of acid and enjoy it melting away for good.
Anyone got any ideas what this is?
PS. I did a reset (phone off, volume down hold, press power......)
Spoke to the HTC call centre
Nothing.....
Pls help
O.k.
It is premium navigation. I can access it from within locations.
Anyone knows how to stop this from just spantaneously opening?

Only simple solution i can think of at the moment is blocking the process. Maybe an app on the market?
I tried app killers, disabled all location stuff, nothing works.
Guess I'll take the phone in to the agents to have it flashed back to the previous software, if I don't smash the thing against a wall first.
O.k. So the app that keeps on popping up, is the "car panel"
Any idea how I can stip it from popping up all over the show?
Open car panel from settings.. Now press menu to enter car panel settings.. There will be an option that says auto start car panel (or something like this) uncheck that option and you are done..
I had the same problem but that was before update.. After update to sense 3 I can't even find the car panel app in my sttings (the one with steering wheel icon)
So can't tell you exactly how it's done.. But going into car panel settings you would find the option.. Simply uncheck it.. If it still appears or you can't find the option simply uncheck autorotate in display settings...

I have a GN2, AT&T stock ROM (Jelly Bean 4.1.2), rooted with CWM SuperUser. When I connected the phone to OEM wall charger, other charger, or to PC via USB the phone switches to "silent" mode - no sound, no vibration - and cannot be changed back. With phone connected or after disconnecting, the volume rocker on the left side will cause the volume slider to pop up, but it remains stuck on silent. When I open the master volume control, Ringtone shows 0 / silenced and cannot be adjusted, Media shows last setting and is adjustable, and both Notifications and System are greyed out and show 0 / silenced. Long press on the Power Button shows "Mute" is activated (green underscore) but tapping Mute, Vibrate or Sound has no effect other than to close the "Device options" pop up. The only remedy that I have found is to reboot the phone.
Other things that I have tried and found not to help are:
- Long press Home, go to Task Manager > RAM > Clear memory. No change
- use Battery Doctor and Clean Master to close all running apps. No change.
- turn off Developer Options (usually on). No change.
- tried adjusting volume in Settings > Sound. Greyed out / locked as described above. No change.
- tried different USB cables - no change
- tried different PC - no change
Anyone have any idea why this is happening and how it could be resolved?
I appear to have solved the problem - sort of. After further troubleshooting by freezing apps one at a time via Titanium, I found that the Bedside Mode app was the culprit. Once frozen the issue disappeared. I tried deleting data and defrosting the app - problem reappeared. For now I've deleted Bedside Mode and the problem seems to have resolved.
