Hello all
Does anyone know of a Rom or theme that has the ability to rotate the home and or lock screen and still retains all the Sense UI functionality.
I am aware that it is in the Cyanogenmod or at least it is on the Nexus one.
but this removes Sense. and alot of the HTC tools that I use very often.
Any suggestions?

Hey Guys,
I really want the 3D App Drawer on my HTC Desire WITHOUT rooting it. Can someone please help me?
Thanks.
HTC Desire (Not rooted)
2.1-update1
Search for Launcher Pro in marketplace. I haven't tried using this with sense although I'm sure it will work.

It does the job but Sense gets taken away. I only want the App Drawer to change.
But thanks anyways.
Hello,
Don't think that's possible even with root as the widgets and app drawer are all built into sense.
I maybe wrong.
yeah, the drawer is a part of the home screen.
So if you replace the HTC launcher (to get another drawer) you don't use the HTC homescreen, and can't use HTC widgets.
Until somebody makes a 'mod' of Rosie that has another launcher, this ain't so easy
Sorry, newb question. What does Rosie mean and why would I want to try different versions? Droid INc, SR 3.3.2, 2.15 radio, stock kernel. I've looked at screenshots of different rosie versions, but it just looks like minor appearance and launcher changes. Isn't that sort of what I get with a new rom anyhow?
Rosie, in simplest terms, is the launcher that appears at the bottom of the screen, above the home/menu/back/search buttons - opinions vary on her extent, but nominally that's who she is.
So then what's the big deal with Rosie if launcher pro makes that so easy?

If you modify Rosie, you can tweak the default Sense launcher to look the way you want, AND stilll have access to the HTC widgets.

I guess I'm still confused, as you can still change the launcher and still have access to htc widgets without modifying rosie. Is it a theme? Is is a full Sense UI replacement? I'm just not grasping it.
From all I've gathered through this community, Rosie is like a theme on steroids - HTC uses it as a key piece of branding across nearly all their devices. In addition to being the main user interface in terms of widgets, buttons, launcher, etc it also includes an number of hooks and tweaks into core Android itself designed to make the experience more friendly for non-geek users (no insult implied!).
There are two main camps when it comes to Rosie - some dislike it since it adds bulk to the simplicity of vanilla Android, while some others love it for it's prettier user experience and all its widgets. I personally am in the former camp and have learned to love AOSP vanilla.

Actually, you can't. If you change the launcher to something like Launcher Pro (which I <3), you can't use the stock HTC Widgets for FriendStream, Mail or more popularly that beautiful 4x2 Weather+Clock. Granted, if you buy Launcher Pro Plus you can get very similar social widgets, and if want that clock Beautiful Widgets is the way to go if you ditch Rosie for LPP.
Rosie, in simplest terms, is the black bar at the bottom of your homescreen. She gives you access to your app drawer, dialer and settings - and if you take her away, she takes the HTC Widgets with her. However, all other HTC Sense UI elements, such as the lockscreen or the black status bar all stay in place.
Rosie is just the launcher. She is in charge of your homescreens.
As previously mentioned, the reason people modify her is they don't want to lose the HTC Widgets for whatever reason (too cheap for LPP + BW?), but they want to have a custom look or replace the settings option with say the browser.
That clear it up?

Absolutely. Thank you! The term Rosie didn't come up on any Android glossaries I found online. You should submit your description...
On a side note, I was a devout BB user for years and I feel like a kid again learning this whole new OS from scratch. I was as deep into BB as many of you are in Android, so just making the change was a huge leap. Some people close to me think I'm obsessed with technology, but for me it's what I find interesting and fun and challenging.
Does anybody know of any Newsense RomĀ“s with the standart AOSP lockscreen..?
Hate the pulldown lockscreen the comes with sandart HTC Rom..!!
Widget locker will do what you want. Then you can chose and customize your lockscreen
Thanks for the answer Lennyz.
Is there a way to accomplish this without installing a new app? I.e. enabling Android's standard lock screen and disabling, preferably removing the HTC lock screen?
Remove the sense lockscreen apk before flashing the rom, this will give the stock lockscreen except when answering calls. There is however a chance it also masses up the alarm but I'm not sure about that.

Thanks. The main reason why I was asking this was because I keep answering calls in my pocket. .
I currently use WidgetLocker and its great. I only wish there was an easy way to revert to stock lock screen without having to use third-party apps.
How do you answer calls in your pocket - magic legs?!?!
Never had an issue personally but I have a case
Hey Guys and Girls,
I love roms,I am always flashing new ones but I have an idea and I need help getting it.So I like sense but love gingerbread, the thing i love about sense is the lock screen where i can drag the apps to the bubble.Thats pretty much it,so I want to have gingerbread as my actual home screen, app screen, and for my keyboard.I know this sounds pretty crazy but can anyone help me find a rom or apps that can help my obtain this.Answers to this quetion would be very appreciated
install a sense rom then install a launcher from the market
Sent From My Optimized HTC Incredibly Since
Agile lock from the market is a nice sense 3.0 lockscreen clone. Its still inferior as the software is a little edgy and there aren't any sms previews like the sense 3.0 one has. I currently use this with CM7 along with sms popup from the market and it works great.
Otherwise download a stable sense rom with the sense 3.0 lockscreen (Nils Gingersense, Synergy) and use a different launcher.
There's also SupraROM which is an AOSP Sense 3.0 mix, but I'm not sure if it has the sense lockscreen.

I know when I ran MIUI about a month ago there was a Sense ring lockscreen you could install in Theme Manager. The downside was I couldn't figure out how to pick what apps other than the ones it gave you. Maybe that's changed, not sure there.

Ah right, I forgot about this option.
I do believe that they can be changed. You have to edit a text file though so its not as easy as HTC makes it. There's a MIUI lockscreen thread with a few of those sense ring lockscreen alternatives. However they all have one thing in common: when releasing the ring, the screen immediately unlocks. No cool "fly through the ring" effect.

Div033 is correct on the MIUI sense 3.0 lockscreens, they look pretty much identical but lack the fancy animation.
I'm not sure what the OP means by this:

By gingerbread, do you mean the stock AOSP look? Because if so, you could use agile lock on CM7, like has already been mentioned, or maybe try the synergy rom with the warm theme. It has the sense 3.0 lockscreen but is themed with quite a few AOSP gingerbread elements.
hi there, nobody posted any lock app thread yet so here it goes.
I tried Go unlock but i think it hogs the resources over time and become laggy.
anyone else can recommend a sturdy one to install?
or any good rooting mod for this to make it 100% smooth?

Try the MIUI lock screen. They made it free and available through Play Store. You have tons of styles, themes, and all you ever wanted from a lock screen..
thanks, tried MIUI just now.
It has the 3dot menu on the lock screen after setting lock screen.
so i suppose the 3dot menu mod will get rid of this.
still feel bit un-smooth with MIUI tho.
some reason the sense one is the best so far
Try this.

Does someone know a metro-style lockscreen that runs stable and hasn't got the 3dots menu enabled? I just tried a few but there was none that really worked. Unfortanetly, for I love the tiles' look alot.
Another question: is it possible to change the icons of apps on WidgetLocker? And is the 3dots menu disabled?

I run widget locker myself, lets you have all sorts of different unlockers as well as run widgets and separate wall paper, umoung other features, all on the lock screen.

Hello,
I use widgetlocker on my One X. Yes, you can change the icons af the apps. Also there is no "3dots menu".
When you install adwnotifier you also get notification-count numbers on the lockscreen like in the normal sense lockscreen (for telephone, SMS, Mail[GMail and K9]).
I like it very much and use it in combination with apex launcher on stock rom without root.
Only the sense3 lockscreen from widgetlocker is a little laggy at my phone.
Thank you. I've installed WidgetLocker now and I like it. One problem though: I've got some icons in .png format that work great with Apex Launcher. But if I try to add them in WidgetLocker, they'll get a black background instead of a transparent one. So, how can I use these icons?
