[Q] Downgrade from OTA 3.26.651.6 - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My has the issue of the "rising Screen" or Glass separation. Thinking that sprint would verify some information from my phone I updated the phone with the most recent RUU from sprint. This has given me:
HBoot .93.0000000
Android 2.2
Software: 3.26.651.6
Basband: 2.15.00.07.28
I have searched the forums, but I a not finding a root process for this version of the EVO, nor am I able to downgrade the Hboot to anything root-able.
Am I stuck for a little bit? Or is there a magical way to completely blank out the phone and start over with the shipped rom 1.39..
Thank you to all the Devs for the hardwork done so far.
Sprint would do nothing for the Glass separation, Since it is only cosmetic issue there was not thing to be done. I was given HTC's number.

lol prepare to be flamed. Find the RUU for 1.47 and try running that from fastboot mode. It won't work, but do it anyway and if it does work, post back here.
Next time, please do a search, or at least post questions in Q/A. This has been asked and answered a thousand times today.

lets turn this thread into face palm pics lol.
Im just busting your balls but nothing will fix your issue and sprint stores wont care.

Thanks for the Idea, I will try to give it a whirl. Sorry that I didn't place this in Q/A, most of the activity seems to be in the dev section. But I did mentioned that I searched, I was unable to locate anyone asking how to downgrade from .93 HBOOT to .76.000. I am new to Android so from time to time I will need assistance. I don't seem understand the requirement to ridicule users from asking a question. I highly doubt 1000 people posted the question about reverting from the latest RUU.

MODS this can be moved to the Q/A section.

Been out of the loop, now have some questions

Hey, its been a while since ive checked the forums and the progress of everything, and am really glad to see what I've come back to. Im very impressed with the progress so far. I just did the Unrevoked forever last night and now have s-off. My question or concern is...
Currently my phone has the original stock 2.1-update 1 firmware, with original stock rom. I am running the Hydra kernal v0.7 overclock with undervolt 1.113 w/n. My H-boot is 0.77.0000 and radio is at 1.00.03.04.06 with custom recovery 2.5.0.5.
I'd like to upgrade my radio to the 2.15xxxxx but im not sure if the kernal will work with it or what steps I should do first. Should I load the lastest kernal the way my phone is now, and then flash the radio? Or do I need to be running a 2.2 froyo rom first? Im not sure what exactly is compatible. I would have liked to wait for the ota but its taking forever and I want to try out froyo. Thanks.
I'd probably start off by doing some research and read all the 8 biazillion threads already open like this and then next make a note to post in the general section next time instead of development.
kthxbye

OP... I had issues with the 2.15 radio, .92 hboot and .29 kernel.(landed me on the ozzeh wall of bricks ) If i remember correctly leave the Hboot alone and you'll be good. If I am wrong, someone chime in.

I guess we'll have to wait it out and see. I thought I was being specific and it would have been a simple answer. I guess more and more threads might just pop up on this then.
The way I went from stock to Sky Raider 2.5 was:
Install new rom, kernel, radio update.
I did this all at once, but you don't need to do the kernel update right away. Right now I've using Sky Raider 2.5.2 Sense and it's pretty awesome. Good luck to you and remember to nandroid backup. Backups never hurt anyone!

Need Goldcard Info from a DEV

Ok... so there is some chatter as of late in the thread about "no known way to root 2.2" with regard to the goldcard.
There is no specific information in the list of things tried with regard to the goldcard method.
Considering this was one of the original ways to root... and that it supposedly bypasses signed checks, is there any reason why the gold card cannot work to downgrade the OTA 2.2? Or, if not downgrading, what about straight across with 2.2 rooted image on the goldcard?
Could someone give some specific details about what they have done with goldcard attempts so we know if this is a viable option or not?
Really?
No one knows?
http://www.knowyourcell.com/htc/htc-evo-4g/evo-4g-guides/463925/how_to_root_the_htc_evo_4g.html
This has been done before... has it been done since 2.2?
Hmmm looking into this now to see what can come of it. Will be getting a 2.2 evo from asurion anyday now.
And here is the info on how to make one...
I made mine:

Have you tested it out on rooting stock 2.2?

I noticed that... but that's only because this was first done wat back in the day. That thread is reference to that time. There is no information in there about whether this has been tried with an image today. What I am wondering is... what happens if someone takes one of the new rooted roms and load those from the goldcard. That would re-grant root... then we should be back in business.

NEW Hboot with OTA update Dont root !!!!

Hi all I updated to the OTA 3.29 though sprint this is what I did....
I was rooted but the update unrooted which we all know we were told that.
So I ran this method 1st with the org stock 3.26... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780141 that was rooted via unrEVOked 3.21: one-click root for Froyo, no downgrading...
then ran the 3.26 ruu to get the phone back to stock everything when k...
then I did the ota 3.29 update the phone now has the new radio 2.15.00.09.01, hboot 0.97 and prl 1.77. (NICE)
After that I ran this... How to Unroot the EVO in 2 STEPS http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=776477, it rooted the phone again... (NICE IT WORKS)
But then I said ok I want to start over just to see if something goes wrong with the phone I will be able to go back to unroot to bring the phone to sprint for repair or replacement and to my surprise (BIG NOPE )
When I try to run http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780141 go turn S-OFF back to S-ON it FAILS...
I know the Devs will fix this soon but I just wanted to let everyone know just in case you are thinking of rooting your phone after the NEW OTA 3.29 update that once you root u cant go back.....
run s-on before flashing unrooted rom.

[Q] OTA updates after debranding

I hope this isn't answered elsewhere, I did search... Honest!
I debranded my Desire a while back. I haven't rooted it but I was keen to get to 2.2. The debranding went fine but when I wanted to install the 2.2 update, I had issues. Turns out that I needed to keep my goldcard in whilst updating from SD card (which I'm sure you all knew already...).
So basically, I just want to know whether I'll need to use a goldcard for all future OTA updates? I put it back in for the most recent update just to be safe but it'd be a nuisance to be doing this every time there's an OTA update.
Use a custom ROM. No, really
Sent from my HDfied HTC Desire
Yes, you will. I suggest making your day to day sdcard into a goldcard as well.
Why donĀ“t you want root ..?
its very simple with unrevoked
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=709146
and also if you want original back..just flash a original ruu (and you can get official ota updates)
with kind regards..Alex
Moved to Q&A. Please don't post question threads in Development.
Sorry for posting in the wrong section. I was a bit unsure of the best place to post.
With regards to rooting, I'm so far very happy with the stock ROM and unless I see something that is too awesome to pass up that also requires root, I don't see a need to change. The less I flash it, the less chance I have of making a mistake and bricking my phone, no matter how simple the process has become!
For the time being, at least, I will make my day to day card into a goldcard. Thanks so much for the info guys, I knew I could count on this forum for a fast and comprehensive answer. Sorry again about posting in the wrong place
^^ Exactly this
I rooted originally but have now gone back to stock as everything I want to do can be done on the stock ROM. All these 'Just root' posts are pointless as not everyone wants to...

s-on!

Htc desire pvt-4
S-ON
HbooT- 0.93
rooted my htc desire with unrevoked, but my device still have the S-On .
the problem is i cant backup or install custom Roms .
so what do i have to do, should i use alpharev to s-off or use diff recovery img
!!!!!!!!!
all i want is to install custom Roms like cm7 !
double post.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=978578
I have S-On and im flashing ROM's without any problems.
Oh god. Freakin' lazy people. Figure things out yourself. There is so much information around here. Do you even know how to boot in recovery? Or do you know what a recovery is?
I suggest you figure that out first. I don't get the feeling (while reading your post) that you understand what you are doing..

Chill out. OP has already asked the question in another (linked by armitage) thread, had it answered, BUT entered a time warp which led to the same question being posted again.

Oh sorry man, my fault. You are totally right.
I thought this was his main thread, you know. That he opened ANOTHER thread with the same question.
But still. The information regarding his question is on XDA. When you first come here, you have to read very much.
Not that I'm for a long time on XDA. I just joined. But I rooted, S-OFF'd, installed a custom HBOOT just by reading threads on this forum. You know what I mean? Threads like this just pollute a forum like XDA. But that's just my point of view.
