[Q] Tests I can run? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I know about nenamark and fps2d I run both those tests frequently.
but I flash the nightly builds and the new snap kernel v7 and I wanna know more about how exactly its affecting my system.
can someone link me to information about these popular tests that you guys do on your phones?
things like linpack and stuff? i wanna see how my scores stack up
btw i get 16.6 in nenamark and avg of 52+ in fps2d and
stdev=8.41 but is usually above 11.. whatever that means.
I just need more information about all these different tests..
haha

Processor benchmarks across roms using linpack

Speed is my 1st priority in roms....
It would be very helpful if ppl post their linpack results for comparison...
Highest i have seen is
3.688 mflops
1.48 sec
Androbin_jit 1.1111 with wifi/bt/sync/gps turned off all apps closed except helix launcher2...
Wats ur best??? And which rom/config??????
and you think we need another thread for that?

Benchmarks

Just done small comparison between 2.1 and 2.2 using linpack. On 2.1 it comes out with an average os 2.2 Mflops while on 2.2 it comes out with about 3.7 Mflops. What's everyone else getting?
I got the same scores
i heard the linpack doesnt give accurate results...i may be wrong.
have you all been able to use the Neocore(Qualcomm benchmark app) or Open GL benchmark with this new ext2 builds? all of those wrked perfectly on the older system sqsh. now i cant get them to run on this new builds with ext2. also alot of live wallpapers from b4 not wrking. anyone with any insight into this? ill do a linpack on mine device, which is basically overclocked to the max, to post what scores i get.

[Q] wtf

can someone please inform me how the tmobile galaxy s phone can reach quadrant scores of 2400 and im only pushing 1200
I've hit 2700 on my Evo my penor is HUGE!
haha funny i actually seen his quad score so i know its true
I wouldn't think too much of it. Cyanogen showed that the difference between 1200 and 40 gabillion in quadrant can be something as rediculous as the filesystem. I don't put much weight in those scores when comparing different phones.

ok so other then cm what other rom/kernel would reduce lag and increase speed right now im trying fresh 3.3.0.1 with king kernel #9

Why don't you try installing >>Snap 7.6 kernel on a Sense ROM and then try to enable TURBO? That'll *should* get you scores beyond 2000 but I'm not sure how well it works. >>Snap kernels are designed for CM ROMs ONLY and there is no support for installing a >>Snap kernel on a Sense ROM - but I've read about others who've done it. Maybe give that a try? I haven't done it so I won't be any help but I've read about it which means maybe it'll work for you.
Dude I really don't understand why you're so concerned with Quadrant scores. It's just a number.

Well, it does ultimately represent something. But unless you can see a real difference, I wouldn't care so much.
If your phone is snappy and smooth, it shouldn't matter what score you get in Quadrant. When I was on CM6 I was scoring 2000+, on Fresh I get around 1650 and I think my Evo is running way better with Fresh than it did with CM6.
well see ive tried fresh with the kings kernel and still not gettin that high i wanna try nets kernel but not sure which one is compatible i like baked but takes too long to boot i also like fresh
Have you tried the new official kernel? It's not going to give you crazy quadrant scores but it will make your battery last a lot longer + I think the way HTC lifted the cap makes it smoother than the custom kernels. It makes the phone more useful which IMHO is more important than Quadrant scores.

High Quadrant Scores like 2500+

Are we ever going to see quadrant scores like the hd2 is getting now ugh!!
A new rom has been imported to the hd2 that has it at 2800 quadrant score evo is better hardware and still at 1100-1500 whyyyy????

What is the benchmark going to do for you?

Then what does it mean and why does it even exist?
Where can I download this at
If you really want it, you can get CM6.0 here:
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/files/category/12-htc-evo/
and Snap 7.6 with Turbo here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=733099
The current Snap only works with CM6.0 though which is a few versions behind, so you might as well wait though.
So the kernel is not universally compatible???

he did clearly say that it was only compatible with cm 6.0
no it is not universally compatible
the benchmark doesn't do anything for you anyway
Quadrant scores are a joke and easily manipulated, just look at CM6 with Snap Turbo. 2800 was my highest quadrant on it and speed was identical to all other roms.
Benchmark..Schmenchmark.....
The reason were all here is to improve the performance and functionality of our devices isn't it?? These scores are posted by every reviewer, manufacturers are giving us more powerful processors with each new device. Kernels and overclock tools are a staple in the dev community. How are these benchmarks not important? Sure they may not reflect the overall performance of the device in every case but if everyone viewed benchmark scores as useless data where would we be?? Not here trying to improve on them

This. Even Cyanogen stated that the quadrant scores are fudged. I read his post somewhere, it had something to do with cheating on the I/O portion of the test.
My EVO with MIUI gets around 1750 and performs as good or better than when I was scoring 2600+ with cm6 and snap turbo.

what is Quadrant really for??

Okay I have been using the quadrant and been hearing about it with ROMs. I have had Quadrant scores range from 1000 to about 2500 so what does this really mean exactly? My reason for asking is I came from a custom ROM where my quadrant scores were close to 2200 all the time. Then I flashed the stock Ec05 ROM and my scores are in the low 1000. BUT.....I do not see any speed difference with either ROMs. I think the stock one is a little more stable and just as fast as the custom one I was on where my quadrant scores were sky high. Can someone please explain to me why exactly one would use the quadrant score for??
Quadrant is VERY inaccurate
and is just a measure of people's E-penis

LOL..That was funny. I would just hate to give up the stock ROM because it is so stable and (fast enough) to have a custom ROM with issues and a high quadrant score. I honestly think I will be sticking with the stock ROM. I hope somebody will be kind enough to make some kernals or themes to work with it. If not oh well. Stability over quadrant score for me.

I came here to post exactly this.
Get Quadrant Advanced to see exactly why it's BS - it's all IO scores, especially on some ROMs that use a little DB trick (no offense, if you guys still use it ) - then switch to Smartbench. Smartbench is a much more accurate measure, and the dev has actively reached out to Epic users in testing his latest version.
I was wondering about this myself. Think I'm going to check out Smartbench. Thanks k0nane for the tip and that awesome rom of yours

Thanks for your support! Keep in mind 2010 is designed for single-core phones, and 2011 for dual-core.
