Has anyone hear any rumblings or seen anything regarding a tripod that would be compatible with the EVO?
If not does anyone have any homemade suggestions for mounting the EVO so I can record my golf swing and....uhhh other "extracurricular activities"?

Saw a guy on here (try searching) who made a tripod using one of those little camera tripods, an aftermarker case of some sort and some epoxy putty. Looked pretty good. Don't have time to dig up the link for you!

Hi,can't post links here as I haven't really posted here. So check out my post (reply#25 in the EVO accessories thread in Guides and Tips section for EVO over at SDX developers. Would love to see a review of what you end up with. Good luck!

Here's my home made mount:
I used an Otterbox case. That way I don't have to permanently mount anything to the back of my EVO case. Works great. It's using the universal tripod mount so any tripod will fit it. And it's easy to use. Just put my phone into the otterbox cradle and it's set.

other than otterbox, some other case that i could used to attach to my current full size camera tripod that has a universal mount?
I have a harley vrod muscle and with a little modifying I was able to mount my evo and a charger so I can listen to my tunes, use navigation and record video of my rides. I used a modified gps mount made by RAM. See videos at youtube / doitlaynstyle.

Hey guys, im in the market for a windshield mount for my EVO, and most of the ones I have seen on amazon have pretty bad reviews. What are some good ones you guys can recommend that can also work in landscape mode, and only on the windshield. Preferably with a pretty long neck as my windshield is a bit far. I looked through a few pages but didnt see much. Thanks!
There is a Kensington iphone, I know..it works, that people were raving about here that I purchased. For the price it is very good and 1/3 cheaper then the official Evo dock sold at Sprint stores.. Do some legwork and look in this section for the thread.

Search for my thread called 'Low profile car mount' and you'll find a good one.

Arkon Mega Clip all the way (+ Pro Fit VSM mounts)
best way to go in my opinion is the Arkon Mega Clip
The guys there are incredibly helpful (Spoke w a sales guy called Mark who was great), products are great, and they also provide VSMs (vehicle specific mounts) if you dont want the clip/suction cup connection. VSMs look much more clean in the car in my opinion. Not crazy expensive either.
They source their VSM mounts from a company called Pro Fit. Check their website out as well to see all the mounts they have. My Mazda 3 2010 wasnt supported according to their site, but again, very helpful guy called Ryan (he's the guy who actually installs the clips and takes pictures for the installation instructions...amongst other things Im sure) told me that it actually was, they just hadn't had a chance to update their site yet.
Hope this info helps someone.

Indeed... The Kingston was originally created for the iPhone/iTouch but works just perfect for us EVO users. HERE is my thread where you can see several reviews, one in the first post and one in THIS post. The goosneck is super strong and doesn't move while driving and at the same time when you need to adjust it can be done so with a little effort. That's a good thing as the gooseneck should be very stiff. In fact, so far it's the best I've seen to date. If I had to choose an alternative it would most likely be the HTC's OEM vehicle mount. Kind of pricey but if nothing else works for you. The only drawback I see of the HTC mount is it doesn't have a gooseneck, instead it has a small stem. This doesn't work out to well if your windshield has a very deep slope to it as the mount would be sitting too far back and you would have to squint to see your route or terrain on your map.
AMAZON has it selling for $11.99 right now. I haven't seen a better deal on anything else pertaining to a car mount that is low profile for the EVO.
i have been using a rocketfish GPS mount i got at best buy it has acctually been working really well. It fits the evo with any case has nice rubber grips ont he sides where it clamps and has to little feet that turn out to hold the "bottom" yuo can use in landscape or portrait and so far the suction cup has help on very well for me. the phone hasnt budged even going over train tracks and pot holes.
cost like 20$ they have them over by the GPS units
Looking to mount my evo to the sun visor of my jeep.. but I'm not sure what is out there that can do the job properly and safely.
Centre console is already taken by a car computer screen... can't use a vent mount.
I was thinking landscape with a case designed for those joggers that strap it around their arms to hug the visor...
Ideas?

I think its a good place to put it. Plus it can be useful for gps navication in landscape.
I found a few sun visor mounts but I have not tried any of them yet.
Wondering if anyone else has tried this.

Im looking for a cheapo mount for my EVO for my patrol truck...... Stumbled across this chinese thing on ebay...
has anyone bought one or tried one?

It's been my experience that cheap car mounts just suck, whether it's the vibration and makes the phone bounce up and down, or the thing just falling apart.
I went ahead and bought the HTC official car dock for the EVO and I absolutely love it. Keeps the phone perfectly still and automatically launches the car application when inserted. It's pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for.

If you can spare the CD player slot of your car, you might want to consider the CD slot mount from Mountek:
www.mountek.com
It's very inventive and works fine.
I got one each for my girlfriend (who has an EVO 4G), her sister (EVO 4G), and my sister (iPhone 4), and they all love it.
I am using the Scoth Reusable rubber sheet. A small 1x1inch piece holds the phone on the flat surface, and with a bigger "pad" it will provide greater security. Plus its not ugly or complicated, just a piece of adhesive rubber that wont leave any residue on the phone.

Well i just ordered it... ill give a good review on it once i have it in hand
I've had the Arkon on Amazon since August with no complaints at all. I thought it might damage the vents with the way it attaches to them but it hasn't bent or twisted them at all yet.
Anyone come across a mount that lets you use the rear camera, for instance drag racing at the track and recording the run?

I have one of these and really like it.
http://www.goodandevo.net/2011/01/mountek-mt5000-mounts-htc-evo-in-cars-cd-player-slot.html
got it 20% off too at the time, works great but it does cover my radio display up, but i guess that is a sacrifice..
i was looking a while back for a car mount when i had Sirius and i remember running across some mounts that slide into the seams on your dash. Anyone know anything about these? I can't find them and don't remember what they were called. Hell is need be i could probably make one.
I have the siedio one.
Works great, doesn't vibrate and depending how you mount it, you can use your camera.
I love this car mount works for just about anything not just ur evo , i think its up to 5inches so u can use it even with cases and big batterys

watch demo video its amazing.
I created my own mount using velcro for vibration and a bit of industrial sound dampening foam rubber modified onto a RAM gps mount for my motorcycle. See the vids at youtube/doitlaynstyle

Awesome! So does it really mount to almost any surface and actually hold well? I may have to buy one of these!

I have a Mountek MT5000, the build feels cheap but it works as advertised. If the ride starts to get rough, expect the phone to jump off the cradle. What I do , is I use the charging cable, loop it on the phone to hold it in place. Ghetto but works.

Just received my Exomount last night. It really works like it shows on the video. I had it mounted on my windshield on the way to work and right now I have it suctioned to my laminate desk at work holding my Evo while I listen to Google Music. I bought mine from one of the sellers on Amazon for about $25 shipped. My coworker saw it this morning and is going to order one as well.
I turned a few corners at moderate speed and went over some pretty big bumps... the thing did not move one bit.
Holy crap I want an Exomount!

I've had that for a few months, it's great. Super secure, rotates and locks, totally customizable. I really recommend it.
So I saw there was a thread about bike mounts and I have been searching through Amazon trying to find one for my Hybrid road/mountain bike.
I want to get some feedback from those who have purchased a bike mount for their phone and hear what problems, if any, that you have come across while using them. Also what is the best one in your experience.

I would also be interested in a bike mount. My cousin made a mount for his PSP with a case and some other stuff, I just forget how. An actual mount would be great though.
You can check the post I made yesterday with pictures of the mount I found on amazon. Some may consider it a little pricey but I feel the build quality is well worth the price.

I just ran across this while looking for anything interesting that would work with extended bulging batteries (nothing really to see) but I have a trident brand aegis case for my sprint sph-d710 that I dearly love - it has survived me and my 7 year old who plays games on it and drops it frequently - here are links to what I have, and to a newer Kraken A.M.S. case they have with a bike mount and camera mount attachment.
Ugh, won't let me link outside so you'll have to copy and paste (I'm not affiliated, just haven't posted enough to be able to paste links apparently)

After many efforts to take great pictures with this phone, I found that the easiest way to actually take a great photo is by setting the phone on a timer and then stabilizing it up against something (my hands are shaky) I was just curious if there are any stabilization solutions like a universal holder for a tri/unipod or such? any and all thoughts are welcome!
The Trident Kraken AMS case has a tripod mount accessory. But its not yet available.

I'd recommend the GorillaPod for mobile if you're going to be taking a ton of pics. Looks like it attaches with either a suction cup (for smooth tpu/plastic cases), or with adhesive. Just make sure you don't get the one that's made only for the iFone.
I use a Gorillapod with my DSLR, and it's great for impossible stable shots without a regular tripod. Hanging it off tree limbs, guard rails, fence posts, etc...
Ahhh dude thank you so much! I didn't know they made a multi purpose one. you're the best!:victory:
