Problem with flashing - Galaxy S I9000 Android Development

I've put all the files on odin, eg, PDA/Phone/etc and plugged my phone in which it's recognised but now its stuck after I pressed start, it says in the message box, DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET, but nothing else is happening.
Anyone know what's going on?

Select Re-Partition option, put .pit and all 3 files from your prefer ROM, put the phone in dowloads mode, plug in the USB cable and push start?

Thanks, a file had corrupted I think, sorted now anyway.

Please HELP: Startrek stuck in "upgrade mode"

Hi,
I was wondering if there is a way to convert my Startrek/Qtek8500 back from paper weight into a working cell phone.
After years of flashing devices it went wrong this time.
I successfully unlocked the phone and could replace the Vodafonerom with the Qtek-rom 3.6.251.0_02.67.30. But I also wanted to try out the Cingular rom 4_1_.1.502.4_02.79.30_CWS.
I hoped to find the PAN-Bluetooth-Profile in it.
However, this did not work.
The phone is stuck in the three-colour-upgrade/flash-screen since then.
Hard reset (holding the two softkeys and then turning the phone on) does not work. If I plug in the USB cord, the display shows "USB" in the left bottom but the phone is not recognized by ActiveSync.
I know there is a way to flash the phone via microsd-card, but I do not know the details about this method.
I have unpacked a RUU_xxxxx.exe file with Universal Extractor and copied the resulting files to a FAT-formatted 2GB MicroSC card. However, the card is not discovered during startup, the phone goes into the "upgrade mode".
Do you have any ideas? Any help is appreciated!
Many thanks in advance!

Power Button Issues

After i updated my ROM with 6.1 my power button doesn't seem to work anymore, also when i attempt to use the the "Restart" option under programs i receive an alert that say "Can't find 'Reboot' (or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are corret that all the required libraries are available." this means that the only way that i can turn off or reboot my phone is by taking out the battery. I am a complete noob so any help that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated... the simpler the better!
Just hold the camera button down and then plug the usb plug in and then try flashing it with the original Tmobile Rom here is the site for it. http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?z4vjgzxisrz
I was a bit confused but i tried holding down the Camera button and then plugging in the USB but nothing, i even tried the original comm button and plugging in but nothing. This might be a stupid question but how do i flash the phone. I extract the file on my PC but i dont know where to place the RUU_signed.nbh file or how to run it, i also try to extract on my phone but it always tells me that there is not enough storage space.

Before flashing a new ROM to your phone, make sure these two things are done:
1) Backup your files to your PC via ActiveSync, Sprite Backup, or some other similar program.
2) Hard reset your device. This clears your storage out and makes the flashing process a bit snappier. (Start -> Accessories -> Clear Storage -> enter "1234")
If the ROM is an "official" ROM (meaning if it is created by T-Mobile or HTC) you should be able to run it by double-clicking the ROM's icon. Make sure your device is connected to ActiveSync when you do this. Just follow the prompts and it should run smoothly.
Would i have to flash my ROM again to gain access to the side panel button?
Would i have to flash the phone again in order to gain access to the powe button on the side?? Anyone else have this problem?

Bricked Epic.. Plz help

Im updating the first post mentioning my observations so that one can read all my post in one place without hassel.
Friends, please help me with my bricked Epic.
My Epic was running on SRF 1.2
For couple of days it went fine.
But yesterday the problem started when I plugged in the Phone on Mass Storage mode. My computer said some erron on SD card and asked me to find and fix any errors.
I formatted the SD card using CWM 3.1.0.1.
Then I decided to go back to Stock EC05 and tired to flash the rom using Odin.
I've done it many times before. so Well aware of the steps needed.
But while flashing the Rom.. Odin hanged on factoryfs.rfs.
So I unplugged and tried again and again. But now the rreal issue start.
My computer do not recognize the phone anymore in download mode
On pressing power on botton or Volume Down+Cam+ power button.. NOTHING HAPPENS.
However I can boot into Download Mode (on battery only).
1) Computer do not recognize USB Drive. (tried uninstalling drivers > rebooting > reinstalling > rebotting ) still USB device not recognized. Even tried with different USB cable. And different ports.
2) However I managed it on my other computer. Where only 1 out of 4 USB port recognize my device.
3) Tried Odin to flash EC05 Stock... It hangs at some place or the other, and screen goes off or some times Solid Cyan (very rare).
4) Phone do not restart in Download mode without battery.
I tried to boot download mode without battery (plugged into computer).. but it wont.
Battery+USB = phone wont boot in download mode.
Phone boots to download mode only on Battery.
After that If i plug in the phone and remove the battery.. screen still stays on.
I went thru many threads but still having same problem.
Please help.
*****************
well after I tried with DI18 rom which was still a failed attempt.
atleast now when I switch on the phone... i can see a screen with a logo..
tiny mobile phone -- "!" in a yelow triangle -- tiny computer
******************
When i go to download mode without the battery and try to Odin flash..
after some time it seems like the phone goes off for a second then I see the battery charging logo on the screen (0% batter).
needless to say that odin freezes.
When I plug in the phone with batery in my phone.. battery charging logo appears @ 0%.
charged the batter for 1 hr.. but still the logo shows 0%.
****************
One more info..
When i plug in the device.. 2 drivers are installed... (only 1 of of my USB port of my Desktop). Rest 3 ports.. it dont work. Neither it works on my laptop.
1) SAMSUNG USB Composite Device (USB)
2) SAMSUNG Mobile Modem #2 (Modem)
As far as i remember there used to be another Driver which used to show in Com Port section of Device Management window.
Am i missing any specific drivers?
**************
In another USB port of my desktop when I plug in the phone, it detects only SAMSUNG USB COmposite Device... But fails to detect modem driver.
When I try to flash using ODIN using that port, it stucks at SetupConnection..

Try a different tar. I prefer dI18. A lot of people have problem on the ec05 tar and odin. Also if you can gt into download mode you are sponged. Not bricked. Hope this helps

I just had this problem. I ended up reinstalling the drivers (like you did) and restarted my computer a few times. When that didnt work i got a new usb cable. the new usb cabe didnt work for crap... but then i used the old one and for some reason it just started to work. i also was putting the tar in phone slot, it would start but hang up at that same spot... i had to put it in the pda slot.
yeah i always used PDA slot for tar. pit in pit.
Odin 1.6
victory pit
Re-partition/auto reboot/f. reset time all checked
also tried with: auto reboot checked only
downloading DI18. like notsosmrtgeek suggested.
hope this works.
Tried DI18.
With Victory Pit.
Odin: 1.61
Screen goes White on sbl.bin
well after I tried with DI18 rom which was still a failed attempt.
atleast now when I switch on the phone... i can see a screen with a logo..
tiny mobile phone -- "!" in a yelow triangle -- tiny computer
tried to flash DI18 again with Re-Partition/Auto reboot/F. Reset Checked.
as usual hanged @ sbl.bin
but now when i start my phone i can see Samsung logo.
So if your computer is incapable of recognizing your phone, you are mostly screwed. I would say try a different computer. If that does not work, your last chance is to either make or buy a programming cable. The programming cable will force the recognition of your phone for reasons I do not understand.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.
edit:
BTW, you can always use the Samsung Provided Flashing Utility
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/22628158/Epic4G_FroyoUpgrade_EB13_Tool.exe
i just experienced a complete brick yesterday.. led didn't even turn on when plugged in to charge. couldn't boot into download mode. thought i was screwed.
i pulled the battery and the sdcard... let it sit for like 10 minutes. i kept hitting the power button just to clear any residual charge in the system. (i swear, i never got superstitious about electronics until this phone... ok, and the whole blowing in nintendo cartridge thing when i was 5 )
put the battery back in, with sdcard.. WAS ABLE TO BOOT INTO DOWNLOAD MODE -- YES!!!
i used odin1.3 to flash eb13... kept stalling several times (but each time it seemed to go further before stalling and giving me a yellow screen, then a red screen, then a blue screen, etc) so i figure at least i was making progress...
finally i was able to get it all the way through flashing eb13 in odin1.3..
i experienced a lot of similar things as you: computer not "recognizing" my device, the stalling in odin... hope this helps.
Downloading EB13
link to Odin 1.3 plz..?
odin1.3: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=790026
eb13: http://www.multiupload.com/F0JFA0487M
i tried odin1.6 yesterday and that just wasn't working for me, either that or the ec05 tar file was messing me up... but good 'ol trusty Odin1.3 helped me out... note tho that i did have to flash a couple times (each time i went successively further before failure)
good luck!
Here is something new i noticed.

oh yea, might be a good idea to remove sdcard while flashing in odin just in case
thank you for the link cache.
btw: should i use the same victory pit file with EB13?
use the pit that comes with the odin1.3 download

t989 bricked but can detect in Linux

Dear friends,
I have a bricked t989. Screen wont start. I thin the phone ran out of space when I was trying to flash a ROM (silly me).
Here is what happens when I connect the phone to:
Windows7/XP laptop:
It start asking me to format the USB drive. Phone is not detected in Samsung Kies. It shows as a USB device ni system tray. IN computer management, a lots of drives appear and all seem to be healthy. The icons disappear when I hold the power button and come back when I press power button again. So it tells me the on and off is occuring, but nothing occurs on screen.
Linux PC:
I can see all the drives with all the contents. Including all my files, apps, system folders, etc. I see folders like image lib etc. And its writable too.
IS there any way I can flash a stock rom or something by copying some files to these folders or anyway I can use what I can see in Linux to put life back into my phone?
Many thanks for reading.
Have you tried getting into download mode and flashing a stock rom with Odin?

If u can see everything like that then ur not bricked, u need to put he phone in download mode by turning it off and holding vol-vol+ and connecting to PC, a screen should show and give u option to continue or cancel, press continue, now connect to windows via Odin, Samsung kies will not see the phone because u have a custom recovery, make sure kies isn't running/uninstall it if u can, open Odin v1.85 and wait till it says added, from there flash twrp v2.6.1.0 tar.file from here techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/hercules load the file via PDA option and press start in Odin, do not touch anything else besides PDA to load the file and start to initiate the flash, when its done and u get a green passed sign, DL ur fav ROM to ur PC, boot to recovery on the phone and select advanced/mount USB, transfer the file, flash the ROM (and gapps if needed) and reboot, phone should recover fine..

I have this same problem, but can't get mine to work.
While back, I flash and play around with lots of roms. One day my t989 went dead, after flashing, can't remember the detail. Anyway, so now, when I plug in the usb cable, the computer dings and a message pops up saying I need to format the disk drive before I can use it. Options are "Format disk" or "Cancel". I can't format, it keeps saying to check the disk and make sure it is connected properly and try again. Only option is Cancel. Odin can't see it either. Kies can't see it. Also, Kies is uninstalled and PC is rebooted. Still no luck.
What else can I try?

First of all u never never format a phone from a PC like that, the device has certain partitions that hold crucial info such as imei, sys data, recovery info, and formating wipes all of that so that's a no no, second if by chance u flashed the wrong ROM or a wrong anything bad things happen, the fact that it even asks u to format the disk tells me something is wrong, try holding vol-vol+ while connecting phone to PC when the phone is off, if its recoverable it will enter download mode, if that doesn't work u can try a USB jig, which will force the device into DL mode and at most there a couple dollars on eBay or amazon, so its worth it to fix the phone, if neither of those options work then congrats man u have officially hard bricked ur device, frame it an mount it on the wall lol

[Q] Sprint Galaxy S3 Phone Bricked?? Hard or Soft?? HELP

so i mistakenly flashed a rom that was meant for the i900 or something and i got hardbricked and im not sure what steps to take or anything.
I know that i can buy this thing to make it go to download mode, but ive already tried doing the not jtag or Jig method but i used my Sandisk Micro Sdcard 8gb Class 4 instead since i dont have the 16gb class 10 version. what do i do?
ive used the windsik 32 image writer to write the
debrick sphl710.img to that microsdcard and idk what to do now. my batter was at 75% charger aswell and also i noticed if i removed the battery and the sdcard and cable and plug in just the usb cable (connected to my pc) it showed a red led light and then it turned off after a bit and my computer read a driver was missing with QHDSLOAD or something like that.
Go download Odin, go find twrp recovery for your phone, get the tar file, open Odin, put your phone in download mood, uncheck auto reboot and reset time, click pda, select the tar, after Odin recognizes your phone then click start. If it says pass then disconnect, power off, boot into your recovery, and flash something like Rooted stock ND8.
I don't normally flash the wrong roms, but occasionally crap won't work no matter how many times I re-download or flash. All that seems to work is flash a new recovery and then boot into it and flash the rom I needed.
