So what is the fastest sense ROM!? - Desire General

Hi folks
I have been doing a lot of testing lately with various ROMS like Pays, LeeRoiD to name a few and I have to say there is some excellent stuff being developed
I was wondering what you guys and gals are using with sense? I'm after speed and battery life.

Definitely Leedeoid

I actually just installed NeoPhyTe Mod v1.7.1 as it was one I hadn't tested. I have to say it's mental! Fastest ROM I have ever used, hits just under 1400 on Quadrant - now that's fast!! To early to determine battery life...

we need excel file of all the differences between roms.

[Q] Which ROM should I use? What's the best ROM?

I want to try to determine what is the best rom 2.09 Froyo - based for HTC Desire.
In the last week I've tried a large number of ROMs. I've really liked 2 of these:
- Roufianos V6 (It's the one that I'm using at the moment)
- OpenDesire 3.0.4 (I know that the 3.0.5 is out but I haven't tried it yet)
Obviously there are many other excellent rom but I haven't got the time to try them, such as:
- Alex V1.1 official OTA cooked by Paul from MoDaCo (I've not tried it yet but I thing it is good)
- Lambros Custom Rom r3.1 --- I've tried it: in my opinion it's the best. Very fast, stable, no problem, no crashes. The chef always helps you and give you what you ask him! Fantastic! (link hxxp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=745447 )
- Pays-ROM
- Others....
Well, I don't know what is better.... can you help me choosing a ROM please?
If you thing that there are better ROMs instead of the ones that I've written, please tell me about them.
Thanks to all.

IMO this comes down to the "SENSE UI",
you wanna have SENSE and all the HTC bells and whistles? LeeDroid 1.8 or Neophyte NextSense 4.0
you don´t give a damn about SENSE (like me)? OpenDesire 3.0.5 is just AWESOME.
Both options are really good but it´s a question of personal preference I think.

has Leedroid gotten rid of the SD card bug now? i found a lot of bugs with 1.7 in fact i would go as far to say it was the worst rom i have tried (and i have flashed nearly all within the last 2 weeks.
i use neophyte nextsense aswell its v good. i haven't used a non-sense rom since the defrost one which was using the nexus froyo (back in june i think).
however from looking at the 'post your screenshots' thread in the themes and apps section i'm tempted to go back to non-sense as some of the roms and mods make it look really cool.

Neophyte 1.6. You will not go wrong. If you think those other roms are good, you will ejaculate in your pants with a neo Rom. I think that first neophyte Rom comes down to a fluke of nature. His latest Rom nextsense is good and I enjoy playing. But the occasional bug. Still better than anything else I believe.
I prefer modaco official version.
Neophyte 1.6 as said. You will not find a more stable or better ROM imo.
why don't you give a go on my rom....i saw you haven't mentioned it....
the latest r3.1 version is as stable a rom can be and i have 2 versions.....one if you want all the HTC apps and one with HTC Sense but without the apps, just launcher, widgets and main apps (people, dialer, mail, calendar)

My brother tried it and sad me that is a very fast and stable rom. The problem is that it's based on 2.06 relase... What are the differences between the 2.06 relasa and the 2.09 one (the official OTA rom) ?

believe me i tried a lot roms and not cause it's mine but cause it's true you will like it a lot...STABLE AND FAST....battery life is on the good side...i was on holidays last week for 7 days and i charged the phone just once (light use though, 10-15 calls, 20-30 pics daily and a couple sms) and in 7 day night i had to charge again...with medium-high use you can get 1.5 days if you charge properly....
BUT ANYTHING anyone says is not true until you try something...this is what i think....it may work on you and don't work on me who knows

What about the battery? How often do you have to charge the phone? In every rom I've tried the battery sucks!
as for the battery i think you can't compare it just right when you flash the rom....myself i do one full charging cycle and then rate a rom's battery life in order to get the full idea....
flash the rom, charge it till 100% (unplug before discharge) and then see how it does

hi lambrospower. I am just downloading your rom and will give it a try mate. Going back to your battery comment, this is a question that i have been thinking about for some time, but never got around to asking anyone, i hope you may know the answer for me? Since i have had my desire (3 months) the only way that i have ever charged it is with USB. Maybe once i have done a full charge with the 240v adaptor, the rest of the time it is plugged into my PC either charging or as a disk drive, my question is, will that make a difference to my overall battery performance? because i havent been charging it with the mains adaptor will my battery be "weaker" than a person that has always used the in-wall charger? I seem to get really bad battery life with most roms that i have tried (and believe me, i have tried a lot!!) yesterday i went out for a few hours, around 3 hours, battery was at 100% when i left, 3 hours later 55%!! now in my eyes that is a hell of a lot of decrease...... This was with NeYophyTeNexTSense rom (but i cant fault NeYo, he is a good chef, hats off to the lad, this is why i think its me thats either doing something wrong (settings) or it is in fact a battery problem??
Hi guys, I really like OpenDesire, but it's stock Google ROM (or based thereon) so it's got no FM Radio functionality. A question to all users of stock ROMs: how do you guys cope with the absence of an FM Radio knowing that hardware-wise your Desire supports it but the software does not have it? As for me personally, I've been tilting back and forth between OpenDesire-like ROMs and SenseUI-like ROMs, and it's still bugs me. On the one hand, I love the stock ROM for its cleanliness and overall looks (without Sense bells & whistles), but that I don't have the FM radio keeps bugging me like hell. Can anyone share their experiences?

[Q] Good non-Sense Froyo ROM?

I got me a Desire from Telus a few days ago and i'm looking into rooting and installing ROMs, but i'm not really sure where to start (there seem to be a LOT of choices). I'm not a fan of Sense at all so anything that doesn't include HTC's fluff will probably get my attention.
Thanks!
im currently running opendesire...
pretty much stock 2.2 with a few tweaks, really quick, and no crap.
either that or defrost which is more tweaked and modded.
these are the only 2 active aosp roms that i have seen lately..
the crappy sense ones have kind of taken over

I'd strongly recommend OpenDesire . It's basically vanilla froyo, with a few minor modifications/optimisations. It's compiled from source (it isn't a mod of a nexus one or HTC rom), and so is fast and clean. It's also being updated regularly in response to bug reports.
How's OpenDesire with battery life? Would I see an improvement or would it be pretty much the same thing?
I'm having the same "problem" really. I now run some near to HTC's stock Froyo rom. I'm sure I found it on XDA somewhere but it wasn't from a well-known dev.
I only installed a rom with Sense because of the black bar, since I purchased LauncherPro. But now that the black bar is ripped perfectly I don't see a reason not to run OpenDesire.
All I want is speed and good battery life.
I think that if i didnt care for the sense UI id first try Cyanogens rom...
I'm running CyanogenMod's nightly build on Desire and I really love it.

Was using OD from version 2.xxx up to 3.1.0 but switched to Defrost 2.6a for two reasons:
1. Auto brightness is working (like in Sense ROMs) i.e. not too dimmed and that's out of the box.
2. My photos/videos taken with the camera app are recognised by my PCs and so can be transferred. In OD unfortunately cannot be seen.
Both ROMs are great vanilla stock like froyo an in my opinion the best ones. Try them both and stick to the one you like more.

Yep I have the same experience with OD3.1.0 and radio .20, I did download a weather widget from the market and it sucked the life from the battery, so got rid of the widget, all good now. Had no probs with the OJ dying yet, so cant comment on the power usage once the OJ dies.
Running OD 3.1 too
Love it and really see no use for the Sense UI on Android due to the availability of widgets.
Just question: why isn't MODACO present on XDA?
there's also one more ROM...

Not that i know of.
Having tried leedroid, defrost, shadowfrost, opendesire, nextsense and neophyte id have to say opendesire has very good battery life compared to the others. Defrost is the most snappy, but it drains the battery like a mofo.

[Q] What is the overall smoothest ROM right now?

After testing several ROM's I'd like to see your opinion about which one is runnig the smoothest - I still stick to robo's HD version right now. And yes I know there isn't THE smoothest rom, I'm just interested in some opinions.
I have to say in terms of hd I found rcmixhf the best but by far the best so far has to be leedroid nice mixture of features and reliability not to mention battery. Miui is the fastest and best non sense very stylish fast and reliable though I'm not a fan of the the way the apps are stored.

I have tested almost every major rom.
I have decided to stick with Cyanogen
Now switched to Miui .29 ....lolzzzz
I think it would be auraxTsense 7.9 for me followed closely by AlexV1.7. I never had much luck with ASOP rom on the desire.
Have to say leedroid 2.2e is as fast and smooth as you can get it, OD is still favourite thought.
I've allways had a softspot for Cyanogen roms, alltho I'm way to much in love with the Sense UI. After all Sense roms I've tried I've become very impressed with Pays roms. He's not updating like crazy and all updates are as steady and smooth as can be, imo.
Only backside with all Sense roms is that noone has implemented the BlueZ bluetooth stack. I want to be able to use my Wiimote, damn it!

Which Sense-based ROM is the "best"?

So far I've been using Revolution HD, but now I wonder if there are other ROMs that may have interesting things to offer.
I read the ROM's threads and I find it somewhat hard to decide based on those posts. Almost all say they are stable/fast/zipaligned/deodexed. Maybe there isn't that much difference between the custom Sense-ROMs?
LeeDroid sounds interesting, as does CoreDroid, but so does Revo HD...
So maybe those of you who are using custom ROMs could say why they use their specific ROM. I know there's no "best" ROM, but I guess everybody has a reason for their choice. I think it'd be interesting to hear.
Rcmix hd, because it's clean and near stock. Only real mod is the deodexing. The more the messing the more the chance of unforseen problems.

Sorry to say but when you start on this flashing stuff you are going to spend a lot of time anyway. Trust me . I have tried out many of the ROM's and mostly they are all good. They all have a touch from the cook though. My advice is to try for yourself. It doesn't take more than 10 mins plus and you're set to go on a new rom.
Asking us will just give you answers pointing in different directions. I hope that you can use my advice. I know that its probably not what you wanted to hear but that's just my opinion.

Yes, I know there's no way around trying for yourself. But it'll take some time to decide whether a ROM is good or not. You'd probably need to use the ROM for a couple of days.
But since there are many ROMs maybe the selection can be thinned out a bit by advice of other users. What would you suggest I try if I'm looking for a clean ROM where the changes are mostly under the hood. From browsing through the forum it seems Revo/Leedroid/Coredroid/Rcmix are fitting that description. Any other suggestions?
And I read in some Sig that Revolution HD was best performance and Leedroid best battery usage. Is that really the case?
Its a personal choice! LeeDroid all the way!
Well, I think the best thing to do is trying out the different roms and see what works for you.
I personally prefer the Revolution HD rom, but that doesn't mean that it's the right one for you
Revolution HD, LeeDroid and CoreDroid are the ones I've tried so far.
- Revolution HD is the one closest to stock which is both its' strong as well as its' weak point.
I have the strong suspicion that I might be doing sth wrong in its' case but with this ROM I always lose the "places" and "latitude" apps. On the other hand I notice I also lose them with every ROM (including the stock one) if I do a Factory Reset the "normal" way.
- LeeDroid is the one I tend to gravitate the most on because it's got that sth extra without being extremely heavy. Still too much bloat for my tastes though...
Works great though!
- CoreDroid is the one I like the most aesthetically (i.e the theme work they do) and they seem to be the ROM most on the bleeding edge.
However, I also got the most bugs out of all the ROMs I tried including the WiFi not working at all (turned out I needed to flash a different kernel manually), the battery draining EXTREMELY fast (not sure why, I didn't change any settings coming from the other two ROMs), the GPS navigator and an added Weather&Clock widget just crashing when called, as well as their own add-ons sending the phone on a BootLoop.
The "last straw" of sorts was today when I picked up my phone after a night that it auto-updated only to find the freakin' Market missing altogether!
In all honesty, CoreDroid would be the one I'd prefer if they could just get it to work right...
(P.S. interestingly enough, ALL three of them released a new version of their ROMs today so take all that I said earlier with a grain of salt as I can't know what bugs were squashed or whether any new ones were introduced).
I like leedroid the best. I installed it the day I got my phone. It's mostly stock, but with a ton of under the hood optimization. Ever since lee started doing his own kernels the phone has been getting quicker each release. And while there are kernels that score higher in benchmarks, general usage feels way snappier on lees kernels.
Been running leedroid roms for 3 months now, and nö issues to report
Automatically generated by my LeeDroid powered DesireHD
CoreDroid HD v3.1 + LeeDroid v2.2.2 Custom Kernel Combo. Enough said.
Leedroid for battery life-Revolution for benchmark...
But every couple of days there are updates! This is nice or not?i think is better to use my CWM once a week, but thats roms life...
I like Core Droid the best, Sergio has been working hard these past days releasing update adter update to please everyone, and 99% of times he has done.
Battery life for me is amazing, performance is as smooth as butter, and Sergio is a theming god.
I also use LeeDrOiD's kernel, because it is perfect for me.
I have only used the Android Revolution HD rom, but this is a great rom, the battery time is good, and its easy to install and all the "crap" apps are removed.
I've never used leedroid as I've only used rev hd, but better battery life sounds good. What's the main difference between the 2 or 3 roms?
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
They are different flavors of the same ROM (well, until recently at least, now CoreDroid is at version 1.84 which does away with some problems I had with the stock 1.72 as well as all the ROMs based on it) so it's not THAT extreme (nothing like flashing CyanogenMod) but there are subtle differences.
Personally, I like the blue theming of CoreDroid the best but they also tend to be pretty bleeding edge, better to let a ROM mature a little first, the Revolution HD ROM is the one closest to stock and the lightest of the bunch but LeeDroid's strong point is their very heavily optimized kernels with very frequent updates.
They have no custom theme but there is a lot of effect-based eye candy (like transparencies and flying-in message boxes).
Honestly I like all three for different reasons and keep switching between them on a pretty regular basis, so far I like the CoreDroid the best but I just keep going back to LeeDroid for stability and long battery life!

[Q] Best Sense ROM with longest battery life

Which Sense 3.0/3.5 ROM will give me the best battery life on my phone ?
They are all much of a muchness really. However in my experience, LeeDroid has always been good as has ARHD, however LeeDroid appears to no longer be supported but ARHD is, hence it's what I run.
With minimal usage I can get about 35-40 hours use.

As with any rom what works good for me may not work for you. Some people like CM7, i use ARHD 6.2.0 and get great life etc.
Try each and see which u have better luck with..

Sense ROM's really use much power compared to AOSP ROM's, with ARHD I achieved a max battery life of 24 hours, and now I can easily achieve around 36 hours and sometimes even 48 hours or more.
But if you really really want Sense, then I recommend ARHD
Virtuous Affinity 1.48 or ARHD 6.2.0 in my opinon both have great battery life. With Virtuous I easily achieve 48 hours during normal daily use.
So I flashed Virtuous Afinity 1.48
Regarding the kernel/radio... do I need to do anything or does flashing a ROM include everything ? What radio would you recommend ?

i am using the radio version 12.56.60.25U_26.10.04.03_M (from previous stock version)

for each rom, there are different radio recommendations since every rom is running on different version of gingerbread, you should ask this from the OP of the thread. Or just use the latest radio.
I would personally recommend you a MIUI rom since it is light, no pre installed shyza and gives you around 450mb+ free ram, decent battery life and an eye candy theme. Fully customizable from icons to lockscreen, statusbar to bootanimation e.t.c.

You know what you should do? Flash a ROM in yr DHD and never use it. I guarantee you that you ll have the best battery life then (independent of which ROM you flash!!)
Best for me Blackice rom!! Awesome battery life and damn fast....

Unless you try them and make your own assumption then there is no guarantee on what ROM has the best battery life.
Usage is extremely subjective and varies from user to user.
