Pretty much what the title says, Does the evo have any RFID capabilities? I've tried searching but haven't unearthed any solid info as to yes or no.
I'm assuming not, but I'd love to be able to read and emulate a few of my rfid enabled pass cards.
No rfid hardware on the evo.
jesus christ are you kidding me!!! rfid?!?!?! wow man, im sorry but im totally against rfid and if people start asking for rfid enabled phones im out of the android scene.
i dont mind being tracked with gps because we know what we're getting into and we can turn it off or leave it at home but man.. wow rfid.. youre nuts. im sorry
no trolling intended :x

*Thanks Iceman thats what I thought, but wanted some confirmation.*
Better make a really big hat then...
Seriously though its coming, having the ability to read a rfid tag on the phone would open up huge possibilities. I know Apple was rumored to have played around with it, and I swear I saw some phones over in japan and possibly in the netherlands that have this.
Now I certainly understand the desire to not have a passive tag on your phone, especially if it stores your info.
But having the option to switch the tag(what info it has stored), and an option to enable or disable it would rock!
i see the pros and cons of rfid but the cons outweigh the pros.
nys was going to be the first with rfid license but from what i remember, dont quote me if im wrong, was that it was taken down because no one accepted it.
i wouldnt be in favor of a true rfid be it in our new passports, licenses, implanted or not. the drivers license was called "real id act".
the rfid brings back a memory from 2001. after 9/11 a family opted in to be the first with the "rfid implants". the mother was on tv and speaking for the family saying how "safe" she feels now being monitored 24/7.
verichip was on cnn years ago and if you google you will find more info on it..
verichip was merged with positive id corp, http://www.positiveidcorp.com/about-us.html

bust out lead hat (cause tinfoil is for the wanabees) and starts chanting BIG BROTHER!!
but in all seriousness there is no way in hell i want an RFID in my phone
in my dog fine but not my phone
Um, I think the OP was talking about an RFID reader.
I don't want an RFID chip in my phone. I'd love to have an RFID reader though. The non-paranoid among us could use it for inventory control, keeping track of where our keys are (assuming there's signal strength), etc. And the paranoid among us could periodically scan ourselves to see whether Big Brother had slipped a microchip into our nether regions while we slept.

I'm not trying to impress you, just stating that "having the guvment" come in is not going to kill the forum.
And the forums and groups I belong to are not dead, just not nearly as well known anymore. And we like that just fine.
As for breaking the rules, um, we do that every single day here, unlocking your phone for use with unapproved roms is breaking the rules. Get used to that.

No, quite clearly you don't; you have flashed (of your own accord) Microsoft intellectual property to your phone although the radio is something separate and probably just needs a reflash.
if your radio is permanently bricked it is your OWN FAULT because YOU DID THE FLASH YOURSELF, and since you seem to think you can swan in here and start laying down the law, you can nark off and sort it out on your own.
wow... nice way to ask for help... that's what happens when your rich mommy buys her 12 year old a phone. But since i'm in a good mood go read and follow the guides and maybe you'll learn something... http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Hermes

I must honestly say, that this is the funniest post I have read in a while... As a fellow noob to the forum, all I can say is - Send me the phone and I'll send you the money that the brick is now worth...
If you had only asked for help or even better yet, read some of the hundreds of pages of information prior to flashing the rom, you will find a lot of helpful souls here... But don't be mistaken... Those same helpful souls will light a fire under your arse if you come off trying to be err, how can I say this, like you are... yeah, that's the ticket...
Seriously, reregister on the forum under a different name and ask and you shall receive...
This has been the funniest thread in a long time.

I've been lurking here awhile and have a couple hundred posts on HoFo... I did my homework and have been flashing WM6 ROMs with total impunity. It AIN'T THAT HARD! Whether or not post#1 was a prank, I pity whoever wrote it.

Scott Hanselman just got his phone:
Rob Miles had one for a while:
Scott Hanselman's overview was pretty good. He constantly praised the platform as being surprisingly fast and stated he loved the mobile bing maps. The only cons he seems to have is copy/paste.
More importantly the merged Facebook contacts problem. I think we might see that changed before launch.
Hanselman also pointed something I was also afraid of:
Facebook integration with contacts is a mistake.
Also:
"There's a lot of "it just works" stuff going on. I'm used to everything being configurable."
I'm a bit shocked that they don't have a way to control the facebook integration. I mean this is one of Kin's headline features (that you could have different levels of "friends"). Hopefully this is something they're just hiding til launch. Not sure why they would but there's hope.
That being said, it doesn't really bother me since I "only" have about 300 or so people on facebook. If I get annoyed I'll just delete people from my FB. I probably should do that anyways, heh.

Useless data with no information about the target audience is pointless.
MSDN is still king of the developer networks, and everybody who's in the .NET or XNA community is seems ready to play with WP7.
There's a much larger amount of .NET developers wanting to tinker with WP7, than Java developers wanting to tinker with Android.
And the business model is still much better for WP7 than Android. Specially for European application developers, where Android Market still don't support buying applications in a very large number of countries.

Actually many "sheeps" here show much better, well based argumentation and better situation overview,
than you "developer" or whoever you are.

Using rude/fowl language, personal attacks, and direct insults however, is a totally different story. But it's typical ignorant haters like yourself.

The button is there so that iPhone people know exactly where to go to post about their phone (iPhone users aren't always the most technically inclined people in the world).
There's a lot to dislike about the company's practices, but you cannot deny that they put out a pretty good product and that they have spurred a *lot* of competition and innovation in mobile computing over the last decade.
I will never own an apple device, but there's no reason to go out of your way to hate a company that isn't doing you any harm.
I agree with You S15274N I had 3 I-Phones I could not stand the fact I pay for the phone and they control my technology like I am a baby. That, along with the Totalitarian marketing behavior "oh you want to add some new anything ? ...... 1.99 each plz"............Besides, the Apple followers are like Religious Zealots "Apple is my God....take my money"..... In my area we all call it "chic" phone you want something you can do nothing to but has a couple cute features.........oooohhhh then this phone is for you.
But, even it's a sister site it really rubs me the wrong way..........I just never expressed myself.... until now ........... THANKS !!!
Yeah... I'm not saying I blame XDA or anything... just stating that I really hate the ONE site I spend my time on to express my passion for android, now has big IPHONE button at the top of it....
And I am kinda laughing at myself about how much that bothers me, I know it shouldn't.
Not sure some of you realize what I'm TRYING to say.

As for hating the button...really? It's a phone. Not that big of a deal, dude. Just ignore it.
Wasting energy on something so trivial!
I agree with s15274n..
iPhones are the most expensive, useless, fragile phones ever.... they suck so bad....the Galaxy S phones are so much stronger and cheaper....hell the Evo has twice the power for about half the price ...
Meanwhile the iPhone is $800 and breaks as soon as it bumps against something .... jailbreaking is like a dice roll every time an update is released ... its a big waste of money like the iPad in my opinion

I look at it more like a humerous thing...that iPhone users need to be "led" to the proper place...I'm just supprised the button isn't bigger with a logo or something! I also apprecate the fact that that it's there, otherwise we might have all the "I" users posting all over the boards looking for stuff.

All this time could be put into making my LIVE wallpaper switching program, I have money and google. But I would rather pay than google how to script that out.
Most of the thread being closed have dedicated threads in the stickies sections.
Why waste space and time? I mean I think you could go through and count the number of Apple vs. Samsung threads that have been closed, you'd need more then 2 hands. Same with LTE 4G.

and 2nd...these boards are hugeeeeee...no need to waste bandwidth because someone asks a question that is answered in the thread directly below the new 1 they just made....
Personally I like that they lock them and have them consolidated as a sticky rather than seeing the same thread fifty times in a row

Pretty sure the people who are complaining about LTE and getting raged at everything Apple vs Samsung are the ones that need to step back and take a breather.

The thank button is there intended to show appreciation for actually helping someone with a problem / offering sound advice. even if someone says someone otherwise and it had value for some reason or other to a person,t hey can show it.
I was getting a hand-job off my new girlfriend when I asked, "How are you so good at this?" "Years of practice," she said. "Bit of a player in your day?" I laughed. "No," she replied, "my dad had no arms."

Yes, some moderators can come off as arrogant. I can see their frustration as the threads get bogged down with the same questions over and over again. Although, they need to accept their position as moderator and not allow their frustrations to spew onto others. Lesson... Read, read, read... Your question has been answered 99% of the time. Especially in development threads. The same question asked repeatedly can slow down development, because instead of working on improving the device, they have to answer the same questions 50 times.

Know them, follow them. They are in place for good reasons and frankly, IMO i think most forums could be moderated much heavier. The fact is, 4 million users cannot all be moderated so we just appreciate the work we get from our mods, regardless.

How bout this :?
I wrote '****' on my son's forehead while he was sleeping the night before his birthday.
We couldn't afford the iPad he wanted, but he'll still enjoy the feeling of owning one.
I ate your chocolate covered squirrel.

Is it just me or is K perry a dog. I guess the appeal is shes just ugly enough men think they got a shot at her, which makes her more attractive in their minds? Id rather get hep from Pam Anderson any day of the week.

I like katy for her music
Like Omggzz its soo awesome
And her lyrics are AAAmazing
"do you ever feel like a plastic bag, drifting through the wind, wanting to start again.
do you ever feel, feel so paper thin, like a house of cards, one blow from caving in."
Like totally.
They're merely pushing all the talk/threads to the apple vs Samsung hub thread. Would you rather have that, or an ocean of apple vs Samsung threads flooding the first two pages

Not really, I would like to use it to measure heart rate while running. . but I dont want to connect it with the mobile phone.
I dont think that its very healthy to wear it all day with bluetooth enabled.

I think this will speak to your particular brand of crazy!

I'd sure hate to think about the radiation resulting from your phone, house, car, literally every piece of electronics, and oh yeah, the sun. Take off the tinfoil hat and enjoy the world, it's a lot more tolerable when you decide to stop being so paranoid.

You are probably right but I would still like to know if it would be possible to disable bluetooth
I don't understand why so many grown people can't answer a simple question? I have the same problem. I bought this watch to monitor my partners heart during the night because she has a condition.. But she sleeps very close to our 2 kids and we don't want them eating unnecessary radiation so we had to get another watch and the gt2 is
Rotting away in a drawer. Can anybody help in this thread?
Thanks

Are Bluetooth Headphones Dangerous?
News regarding an appeal written to the WHO in 2015 picked up last week, noting the potential health risks associated with exposure to the radiation emitted from Bluetooth and wireless devices. Although some suspect chronic use of Bluetooth and wireless headphones could cause cancer, it’s still...

Again, if you're concerned with radiation from a watch, run in fear of the radiation from your phone that you keep next to your face at night. And next to your crotch during the day. And the sun, which pumps out more radiation than a piddly barely active bluetooth connection. Stop reading news for crazies.
Hi, phone is closed at night and I use a sun screan and I know, just checked last night with my phone there were other 5 blutooyhe sources around me and countless wifi's but that considered I still would love to know if there is anybody up the task here. Thanks for your interaction anyway..
So nobody is up to it? Let's wait for Huawei to wake up on this.

No, because you're literally the only one that wants this option. Why? Because it's asinine for all the reasons I've already given. Just use your watch the way it's meant to be used.
How do you close your phone at night? You shut it off? You toss it in a faraday cage? You have a flip phone for some ungodly reason?

I am not the only one. I need it because my partner owner of the watch has a heart condition that needs to be monitored. And because she is also breastfeeding 2 new-borns we wouldn't like to have them absorb radiations. So shutting off the device, throwing it in a faraday cage or throwing it out of the window wouldn't help would it? On radiations there is still a lot we don't know do not understand. And then, if you are not one of the people capable to help why do you even take the time to answer?

Because I'm genuinely curious. You say you want to stop your babies from absorbing radiation, but surely that can't mean from a bluetooth signal in a watch. BEcause that's quackery. To claim there's a lot we don't understand is also false. bluetooth "radiation" as you call it will not affect you, your partner, nor your babies. Don't drink the Kool Aid bro

Red pill blue pill dipends on what you want to believe. I have just read many of research on the subject and have picked on which side
To stand. We don't have WiFi at home, close the cell phones at night use sunscreen ect ect.. Maybe it's also just an instinct of trying to protect your kids don't know. What I do know that I like the watch. Would like to hold on to it put on the condition that I can find a good soul that can help me disable this feature. Please see 2 pieces of research that I have found there are miriads more out there. Regards man.

People aren't helping you because you're being a paranoid tinfoil hat wearer. A Bluetooth watch is designed to use Bluetooth. Sorry for the convenience.
