My market shows sling player just fine. I searched for 'sling' and it showed up. Not sure why yours won't.

I found appbrain but still I need to know why my android does not have alingplayer and this indiccate that something not right or not complete on my delis market

Which ROM are you running?

Isn't this a known issue with 2.2? I think there are fixes for the market floating around.

I'm using droid 2.1

You must mean the stock 2.1 Android ROM. "Droid" is the name Verizon has given to a line of their Android phones.
Have you seen this thread, specifically post #8?

Android SDK version required for T-Mobile G2 Touch

Which Android SDK version is required for the T-Mobile G2 Touch?
I see under about phone several numbers:
firmware: 1.5.
build: 2.73
software: 1.0.0.A6288
Could someone tell me which the actual Android SDK version I will require is?
Just treat it as a Hero. Forget the T-Mobile nonsense.
Mine is technically a G2 Touch.

You only *require* the SDK if you wish to develop applications for the phone.
Nowadays, you download the SDK starter package, and then add "platforms" for the various versions of Android that you may wish to target. Currently available platforms are 1.5, 1.6 and 2.1.
Unless you are running a custom ROM, your Hero will be running Android 1.5, so you need the Android 1.5 platform.

Dave
Thanks. Yes I have several versions of platform installed. I was confused as to which version was on my phone.
android 1.5 is SDK 3
simple enough answer

[Q] About firmware, build versions

In "about phone" I find that my Defy is:
Firmware version: 2.1-update1. Is this in fact the Android OS version installed?
Build Number: JRDNEM_U3_2.51.1 Is this in fact what in this forum is referred to as the phone's firmware version?
I ask this because do far I have seen firmware version only referred to as 2.51.1 and such. It seems very improtant to know before attempting to root the phone.
Yes, I've tried to find the answer elsewhere, no luck
Thanx to anyone with an asnwer!
Peter
Yes, 2.51.1 refers to the build number - there is no Android version 2.5[xxx]
All 2.51.1 ROMs are based on Android version 2.1/Éclair.
2.2/Froyo ROMs all have build numbers along the lines of 3.[xxx]

Thanks for clearing that up!
Root Achieved
Thanks for the advice.
1st I needed to download the Moto Tools (Moto Driver Installation).
I ran 1.7 of SuperOneClick but it kept freezing waiting for Device after appearing to push RageAgainstTheCage to the Defy. After trying numerous times with 1.7 and turning on/off debugging at certain places, I tried 1.3 of SuperOneClick and that worked right away.
Appreciate all the help!

Verizon HTC ADR6300 is the Droid Incredible, so that is correct, but there are various problems with the HBO Go app and Cyanogen mod. These include FCs to not even installing and no one really knows the cause of these problems besides incompatibility with the framework or something like that. The GingerSense Roms seem to have more luck using this app, so you may want to try installing one of those and using this app.

I really think it will work because navigon works too XD. There it says desire with 2.3.5 not kompatible. But htc one with 2.3.5 no problem it works. And there is no problem with the navigation software.
So at what parts the build prop, or what file ecer tells the play store the android version?? I changed 2.3.5 at the very top zo 4.0 or do i need to write 4.0.0??

Lol, hacking the system to get around rules wont always work. In this case the app might actually not work like Andu said. Gingerbread is missing many API's that 4+ versions of android have, and if the app is using one of them, then it simply wont work. Ive attached the APK so that you can try to install it, but no guarantees that it'll work.
Thank you.
I'll test it tomorrow and tell you weather it works or not.
Cannot install -.- so i think i'' look for a andro 4+ rom now.
Thanks again for uploading

Your main problem is that your android is way to old : Android 2.3.3 GingerBread which has long been abandoned by Google (So you don't even have a functioning Play to install apps)
I would point in this direction :
[ROM] [NIGHTLY] [KitKat] [4.4] CyanogenMod 11.0 nightlies by milaq
This is based on the latest builds of Android 4.4 Kitkat which is the oldest still patched by Google, build with Lineage OS 11.
There's a link for a functional Google Play in this post.
Please pay attention that, for this to work, you need a ClockWorkMod more recent than 6.0.4.5 (you cannot successfully install it with older version), there is a link to 6.0.5.0 in this post.
Remember to also wipe everything (Cache, Data, etc.) after the first upgrade to LineageOS 11.0
(The installation of ClockWorkMod itself requires a rooted phone with "S-OFF" - with the Desire Z's equivalent of signature check turned off).
(And the rooting itself requires an exploit that exists only on older versions of android, so you would need to downgrade using a Glodcard - an SD card with a signed CID in its boot sector).
Alternatively, if you DO want to stick with such an old Android version (which might be full of exploitable bugs) you might try to manually download the APK of "Facebook Lite" (a low-requirement version of the App that Facebook has specially developed for 3rd world countries) from places such as APKmirror.
