The Ultimate Guide to Flashing a ROM on the HD2 (Windows Mobile) - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Just thought i would share a tutorial i made about flashing ROMs
If this helps anyone in any way then i will be happy, i know there is already a few Flash guides out there but i wanted to have a go at my own.
Anyways if you find it helpful please leave a comment on the tutorial or if you have anything i could add leave a comment saying what it is.
Flashing a ROM is a simple procedure but for most the task sounds daunting. For those of you who are ready to take the leap and flash a ROM onto your phone i have good news for you. In this guide i am going to show you how to flash a ROM the easy way.
NOTE: This guide is based on the European version of the HTC HD2 (Leo) flashing process, flashing for other devices may vary. You must also make sure before starting this guide that you know which version of the HD2 you have so that you can flash the right ROM and Radio if needed. The European version of the HD2 has a 512 MB ROM and the US version has a 1024 MB ROM, the European version is also a little smaller than the US version and has less RAM, the US version has 576 MBs of RAM and the European version has 448 MBs. The US version also has a different Radio version that supports T-Mobile US's Frequencys. If you are unsure about which version of the HD2 you have then go to the Settings menu on your device, go to About Phone, and then look at Hardware information and Software information.
The first thing your going to need to check before you begin is that you have HSPL on your phone. If you don’t have any idea what HSPL is, take a step back and read up on it first. (Video on how to install HSPL) (XDA thread on HSPL with download link – For HD2 only) If your not using a HD2 then search XDA forums for the correct HSPL for your device.
Now that you have HSPL or for those that already had it, your going to need two things, a phone with Windows Mobile on it and a USB cable to connect your device to your computer.
NOTE: You may also need to update your devices Radio version depending on which ROM you flash.
So go ahead and plug your device in, a new screen should now show on your device. If not its probably because its your first time connecting the phone to your computer, don’t panic! just wait a while for the drivers to install and you should be up and running in about 20 seconds.
Select the Active Sync connection from the list.

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",

}
And press done.
Now your device is connected properly you are ready to choose a ROM.
The best place to get ROMs is the XDA Forum. Point your browser to http://forum.xda-developers.com/ and then continue on to the next step.
The main page of the forum gives you a list of devices running Android and Windows Mobile and their respective threads.
Windows Mobile Forums are labelled with a Windows Mobile icon and Android Forums with an Android icon. Find your device and select the “ROM Development” Sub-Forum.
Once your in the Sub-Forum for your device browse through the ROM threads until you find a ROM that best suites you. For the sake of the tutorial we are going to choose the Energy GTX ROM.
As you can see in the screenshot above there are a lot of numbers involved. The only numbers you really have to worry about is the Windows Mobile Build Number. In this case its 21911 and 23673. The difference between the two is that a 21911 ROM has Windows Mobile 6.5 on it and a 23673 ROM has Windows Mobile 6.5.3 on it. There is not a major noticeable difference between the two Builds apart from the change in UI. In 6.5.3 the start menu, lock button and exit button are located at the bottom of the screen where as in 6.5 everything is located at the top, 6.5.3 also sports full multitouch support, threaded email and texting, Office Mobile 2010, the ability to drag and drop start menu icons and decreased page load time, improved memory management and gesture smoothing in Internet Explorer Mobile 6. In my opinion 6.5.3 looks better as it has a more up to date UI and on a device like the HD2 having everything at the bottom saves you a stretch. For more information on Windows Mobile Builds hit this link.
NOTE: Not all builds for 6.5.3 and 6.5 will have the same build number. However all builds with 21 as the first two digits will be windows mobile 6.5 and all builds with 23 as the first two digits will be windows mobile 6.5.3
Now you have chosen which ROM you are going to flash, you will need to download the files for that ROM. In my case the download link is on the second post of the thread.
NOTE: Don’t forget to check if the ROM needs a specific Radio version. Link to the HD2 Radio thread. For other devices search the XDA forum for your devices radio thread.
REMEMBER: Make sure you get the right ROM for your device and the right Radio version as flashing a Radio that is not for your device could brick it.
Hit the download link and save the file to the desktop. The file may be hosted of site but don’t worry, the sites are safe i assure you.
Once you have downloaded the ROM file you will need to extract it. In my case the ROM i downloaded was in the .7z format so i used WinRAR to extract it. WinRAR also works for .rar files and .zip files.
Now you have extracted the files you should have a folder that looks like this.
Inside the folder there should be two files, one .nbh file and one .exe file. If there are any other files in the folder you need not worry about them unless they are named “READ ME” or something similar to that.
NOTE: Do not move or remove any of the files inside the folder as it will cause the flashing process to not work.
The .exe file is the ROM flashing utility and the .nbh file is the actual ROM image that will be flashed to your device. Think of the ROM file as a .zip file and the ROM flashing utility as the extractor program which will extract it to your device.
Now we will begin the ROM Flashing process. MAKE SURE TO BACK UP ALL OF YOUR DATA AS THIS WILL WIPE YOUR DEVICE AND PUT IT BACK TO FACTORY SETTINGS. if you need a program to backup your data then i recommend using PIM Backup.
REMEMBER: Make sure your device is plugged in and set to active sync connection mode.
If your using XP run the .exe file which in my case is Leo_softwareUpgrade.exe and if your using Vista or Windows 7, right click the .exe file and choose run as administrator.
The ROM flashing utility will now open, read any warnings and click next.
Again read any warnings and click next
The utility will now take a few seconds to check the information on your HD2
The next screen will open after your information is verified. Click “Update” to proceed.
The next screen will tell you which ROM version you are currently using and which version you are about to flash. Double check that the ROM you are about to flash is the correct version and hit next.
The final screen will now show, read everything on screen and make sure you are ready to continue, if you changed your mind and don’t want to flash anymore you can hit the ESC to exit the program. Hit “Flash” to begin the flashing process.
NOTE: Once the flashing process has started you cannot stop it.
Once you have clicked “Flash” the flashing process will begin and a progress bar will appear onscreen.
REMEMBER: Make sure to read the warnings.
Your device will now restart and boot into the HSPL screen, don’t worry if this looks strange to you, its perfectly normal and safe.
If your device does not show this screen straight the way its probably because the drivers for HSPL mode are installing, be patient as this can time a while. Sometimes when the drivers aren’t already installed for HSPL mode the ROM Flashing utility may give you an error and say something like “Device not connected” or “Could not connect to device”. Don’t worry if this happens, just start the process again and follow the steps until you reach this point again.
The next screen you will see will look like this. So there should now be a progress bar onscreen on your computer and on your device.
NOTE: Flashing times may vary depending on the speed of your computer.
Once the flashing process has reached 100% you should see a confirmation on your computer screen saying “Congratulations your ROM update is now Complete”. Hit the finish button and you are done.
If the ROM has flashed successfully your device should restart and boot up as normal. Notice at the bottom of your screen it should display your new ROM version.
Your device may take longer to boot than normal but this is normal after a fresh ROM flash.
Most ROMs will have their own install screen so after the first boot screen you should see a screen like this.
The best thing about custom ROMs is that most of them have many of the usual settings already set up and skip unnecessary screens like the Screen Calibration setup and Typing Test screen.
The next screen that will show will be the carrier setup screen. Select the option that suites your plan and hit “Next”
NOTE: PostPay = Contract and PrePay = Pay As You Go
The next screen will confirm your selection and download the necessary settings.
Hit “Done” at the bottom when the download is complete.
The device will now load up your home screen, in my case that is GTX Sense.
And now your done! You now have a brand new ROM installed and set up on your device.

[TUT] The Simple Guide To Mod Your Diamond

I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE YOU DO TOU YOUR PHONE HOWEVER I WILL DO AS MUCH AS I CAN TO HELP YOU FIX IT
GSM ONLY!!! NO CMDA USERS
Note: This TUT was written from my expeience with a DIAM100!!! I do not know if the files included in this TUT are compatible with Diamonds other than the 100
This TUT will cover complete flashing of everything on your Diamond, I wrote this cause it took me 2 hours to get my Diamond hacked so i could reap the benefits of the community:
1. Hard-SPL - Post 1 & 2
2. Rom - Post 3
3. Radio - Post 3
__________________________________________________________
Note: Doing this will Hard Reset your phone, any data not on your 4GB internal will be deleted!!! If you want to make a backup, I recomend you use SPB Backup Free Trial and save the EXE created to your 4GB
__________________________________________________________
What Is Hard-SPL?
Hard SPL in computer terms is the BIOS, it lets you recover your device if you incorectly flash your device. This bootloader was developed by OliNex and comes in to flavours Dev and Signed, i have attached the files at the bottom of this thread. It is essential if you want to put cooked material on your device. if you install this IT WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY, how ever, you can still flash the Stock SPL back should your diamond need repairing.
How Do I Flash It?
If you want to restore the stock SPL, I recomend you make a note of which version you have, this is easy and simple
1. Reset your Diamond
2. Press and hold the Volume Down button on left side of your device, it shold display some numbers and some text, the number should be between 1.23 and 1.37
3. To get back to Winmo, simply press the reset button
With the OliNex SPL's, all you need to do is charge your Diamond to 50% or more, connect via activesync / Device manager on a 32 BIT WINDOWS SYSTEM (XP Only) !!!
Create a new folder with no spaces in it, E.G "C:\\Diamimg_OliNex" , unzip the files you have downloaded from the bottom of the page into this new folder
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Then, with your Diamond connected, run "RomUpdateUtility.EXE" and follow the on screen intructions
IF YOU UNPLUG YOUR DIAMOND WHILE THIS APPLOCATION IS RUNNING, YOU WILL BRICK YOUR DEVICE!!!
The computer should be displaying a progress bar, it should jump from 0% to 100%
IT WON'T TAKE 10 MINS LIKE IT SAYS IT WILL
A message should appear sayying that your phone has been sucessfully updated
When you see this, Congrats, You have flashed Hard-SPL to your phone
To confirm this, simply repeat the steps you did to check your Stock SPL, It should say, 1.4* OliNex
Flashing back to stock SPL is in the next post
Note: Doing this will Hard Reset your phone, any data not on your 4GB internal will be deleted!!! If you want to make a backup, I recomend you use SPB Backup Free Trial and save the EXE created to your 4GB
__________________________________________________________
To flash back to the Stock SPL, YOU MUST FIRST FLASH THE STOCK ROM AND RADIO, SPL MUST BE FLASHED LAST!!! You will also need the SPL pack which is included in the first post, when we flashed Hard SPL, I mentiod the number of your Stock SPL, if you still have it you can the Stock SPL. This useful because if your supplier is trying to fix it, and bumps into bootloader, it will say "1.40 OliNex", and he will say "This has voided your Warranty". If it says "1.37 HTC" he will say "I will repair it now". Anyway, to replace the Hard SPL, there are two ways. If you have the Un-Signed SPL, you have to use the file "Un Signed SPL Restorer", when you have chosen your Stock SPL, extract the SPL Restorer to a top level of a Local HDD, copy the SPL file into this folder with the other files. Then rename it "RUU_Signed.NBH" without the quotes. Run "RomUpdateUtility.EXE" and follow the on screen intructions
When you see this, Congrats, You have flashed Stock-SPL to your phone and deleted Hard-SPL Un Signed
If you have a signed OliNex SPL, the restoration process is slightly different
The proces is exactly the same except instead of using "Un Signed Hard SPL Restorer", you simply download "Stock Restorer For Signed"
Flashing ROM's
Ok, this is the easy one
There are several methods of flashing ROM's, Using RUU, MTTY and my personal fave, Internal Storage Method, I will cover all of these in this post
Some ROM's I recomend
1. The latest of Winmo products, L3V5Y's 6.5.3 Build 28*** ROM, it's fast, stable and light! Only a 60MB download, which is pretty good. This requires Unsigned Hard SPL
2. GEN Y's 6.1 Manila Rom, this rom is very stable. It hasn't got the 6.5 ROM in it, but it has the latest version of Manila / Touch Flo (The Fancy Interface That Is Installed On The Stock ROM)
1: Internal Storge
This is the easiest, quickest and safest way to flash ROM's, the ROM is a single file (*.NBH), you need to rename it "DIAMIMG.NBH" without quotes
then follow these steps to copy over
1. Plug your phone into your PC
2. Select "Disk Drive"
3. Copy DIAMIMG.NBH to the top level of your phone
When this has completed copying, you must reset and hold Volume down and the Back button, you will see a quick Tri Colour screen and then you will see "Loading" the screen will change and it will say "Press Power Button To Start Update Image", after you press the power button a progress bar will appear at the bottom of the screen, when it has completed, it will say "Update Sucessful", peform a soft reset and enjoy your new ROM!
2: MTTY
MTTY is HTC app that lets you modify the contents of your devices ROM from a command script, you can't actually flash a rom with it, but you can prepare your device with it, if you only flash with internal flash you may get a bad flash, for example a read only file may have copied incorrectly and corrupted the ROM memory. MTTY will format and fix this.
FOR VISTA + WIN 7 6 BIT SYSTEMS, SEE BOTTOM FOR DRIVER INSTALL OTHER WISE YOU MAY DAMAGE YOUR DEVICE!!!
To prepare your Diamond for PC or Storage flashing:
YOU MUST HAVE HARD-SPL ON YOUR DIAMOND
Internal:
After you have downloaded your new ROM, copy it to your Internal Storage and rename DIAMIMG.NBH like you did with the method above. You need to download MTTY which is attached to this post, place your device in bootloader (Reset and Vol Down) Run MTTY after extracting to a top level of a local HDD, a list of options should appear, change it from Com1 to USB, if USB is not on this list, try disabling "Allow USB Connections" in activesync and restart MTTY, when you have selected USB, MTTY will start, just click ok when a option window pops up, after this, wait for a window to pop up and press Enter on your PC keyboard, CMD or USB should appear. I will write the commands then a line below I will write what they do
set 14 0
This tells MTTY to reboot when complete
task 29
MTTY will format your ROM
NOTE: after typing task 8 (Below), very quickly unplug USB and hold down Volume Down and Back to trigger flash
task 8
Reboot Device
PC:
Same Layout As Above
set 14 0
This tells MTTY to reboot when complete
task 29
MTTY will format your ROM
NOTE: after typing task 8 (Below), very quickly unplug USB and hold down Volume Down to trigger Bootloader Mode
task 8
Reboot Device
Plug back into PC, serial should change to USB
Run RUU.exe (Included With Rom) and follow on screen steps (This one will take 10 mins)
MTTY On X64 Bit Systems
Before you do MTTY with a Vista / Win 7 64 Bit system, you must install drivers
First, disable driver signing HERE
Then download and install drivers from HERE
RUU
Note: if the rom is an *.EXE, you dont need to do this as that Rom is an RUU
1. Download your Rom
2. Download the "DiamondCustomRUU.ZIP" from my next post
3. Copy both to the same folder
4. Connect phone via ASync or WMDM
5. Run the Ruu .EXE
6. Follow the steps in my next post
Radio:
This bit is about flashing your radio, people flash their radio to get better reception in the area, if your diamond was sold to you as a TRI Band phone, you can upgrade it to QAUD Band for free
THIS DOES NOT UNLOCK YOUR RADIO FOR USE WITH OTHER SIM CARDS!!!
There are plenty of Radios floating around, one recomended around the forum is 1.00.25.05, this enables QUAD Band, use little power and gets great reception. You can check your radio when your phone is booting, it's the first line of red text. If you have radio version 1.00.25.05, or if you get good signal and good quality voice calls, you don't have to update it
DO NOT TRY AND FLASH A RADIO FROM ANOTHER PHONE!!!
How To Update:
First download a Radio from here
Then download RUU from the bottom of this page
Extract both to the same folder
Run RUU, Check the box and click next
After you have done the things listed in the picture, tick the checkbox and click next
Click Update
The RUU will tell you what version you are going from to what version you are going to
Click Next
DON'T UNPLUG YOUR DIAMOND OR DO ANYTHING ON YOU PC WHILE THE RADIO IS UPDATING
When PC reaches 100% DON'T UNPLUG YOUR DIAMOND, Click finish and wait for your Diamond to reset

Great work, this is really usefull for people having trouble getting their Diamond updated and flashed.
When I came here I really needed something like this, because all information was cluttered all around the forum. Now we have it at one place.

Go think before you post these kind of answers.
Badwolve1 I think it's a good idea to put this in the wiki,
If you don't know how it works I can do it for you with a link to this thread.
This is good work and should be rewarded, we should have these guides for every device!
Having this information all in one thread is really a relieve, tx for your efforts Badwolve!.
Maybe this forum will end up now with a little less ' help....my diamond is bricked' threads, so no waste but gain of space huh

Badwolve - Good to see your consolidated tutorial. Just wanted to share that mtty works directly with Windows 7 (x64) as well now. There are two possible methods for this (tried both and both work):
Eugenia's signed x64 drivers
Disabling/Ignoring driver signing using gpedit

Hmm, seems like your device hasn't been hard spl'd. Can you confirm that you've done so?
My device is HardSPL-ed I've installed 1.30 OliNex, and on the three color screen there is a text that says "1.30 OliNex" so it is spl-ed
And when I try to Flash from PC the custom RUU and phone bar are stuck at 0% and after a wile i got 262 error on ruu. see the picture.

May i ask what rom you are using?
You will probably need Dev Hard SPL as not many Roms are signed by OliNex, i this problem persists ater install of Dev SPL, Try internal flash
Good Luck

[Q] Phone Bricked?

I tried installing cooked ROM into my P3300 today
at first, i downloaded a new SPL which turned my version into 1.11.cmon
and then i downloaded Artemis Touch Vanilla 4.02
I followed the instructions in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299154
except it said nothing about where to put the extracted windows.nb so i just put it in the upgrade program's folder
the upgrade program ran as it did, and i got a success message
i made a hard reset to my P3300, and the normal splash screen showed up, but this time it said:
IPL 1.14.0001
SPL 1.11.cmon
GSM 02.67.90
OS 3.13.0.0
i think the OS version has changed, and either way, the text position did, previously it has been one line bellow the current layout
but either way, the phone can run like that for hours, it just wont move
is this what you call a bricked phone?
is there a way to solve it?
cheers
yair
anyone? please?
im killing myself here, i just got the phone(even if its old) and ive already ruined it
Hi
Do not worry. You will get it working again.
Google for Artemis factory rom and run it. It has the Rom + the radio rom too. Just run it.. But yes before that you need to run uspl.exe since its SPL 1.11.cmon.
Try searching and download it. If you cant find it I ll give you the link on monday..okay
You should run it from USB mode..
...

a.my rom isnt in there, there is no specification for IPL 1.14.0001, the closest one is 1.14.0000 and its in spanish, so its definately isnt mine, what do i do?
b.i have no idea how to install it, or what to do with the SPL
and besides, i cant even connect with my device, so how am i supposed to run it with USB? i dont get active-sync, and the "apparel mobile" folder is empty, meaning no connection, so im really dumbed here...i have no idea what to do...

you should be able to flash any rom to your device regardless of spl = uspl 1.11.cmon.
*try flashing a differant rom, eg Andrew82 rom (also download the custom ruu for it too.. instead of original rom, try a differant custom rom)

i tried connecting it to the USB now, it didnt do anything, the computer didnt even recognize a connection was inserted, first i need to find a way to connect it, later ill worry about the ROM
I've got the very same problem. I have tried to flash official HTC unbranded ROM to my Artemis and now I'm stuck at boot screen. My computer won't recognize that I have connected Artemis. It recognizes it only in bootloader mode but when I try to flash any ROM (no matter if it is official, modified or custom) or even radio, the flashing program gives me error at 3%.
well, you got me there, im stuck just as you are
i cant even connect my device using USB only, the computer wont recognize it, anyone?
...
when the device is in bootloader and connected to pc, it is connected = not by active sync/wmdc but device is connected (bootloader should show "usb").
you will be able to flash a rom.
some artemis devices are put into bootloader by diffearnt combinations of buttons pressed/held.
so if a single press of the soft reset button and holding the voice button does not work.
try:
holding the voice button + holding the volume down button and then single press the soft reset button.
*whats the error number on 3%?

well, thats a bit hard, ill edit when i manage to do that
EDIT: didnt work, i dont think my phone HAS a bootloader option
how should a bootloader look? is it just the normal startup flash screen?
BTW, i can only run the RomUpdateUtility.exe, and not uspl_start, is this normal? because the RUU isn't doing anything, actually...no ROM has changed on my device, and it is still bricked, i think it is cid locked
...
bootloader should look something like this:

you will definatly have a bootloader option
sometimes a device wont go into bootloader mode, if your device wont go into bootloader then the way around it is to download MTTY and use that, this has the ability to put your device into bootloader.
USPL 1.11.CMON ROM UPGRADE TIPS&TRICKS - post 4
IF YOUR DEVICE WONT GO INTO BOOTLOADER, USE MTTY.
download MTTY
1) set MTTY open port settings..
2) command MTTY to reset your device into BOOTLOADER.
Cmd>password BsaD5SeoA
Cmd>ruurun 0
Cmd>ResetDevice
DO NOT COPY AND PASTE, YOU MUST TYPE MANUALY.
*your device will now reset and be in bootloader mode.
Rn
in the options form:
the only thing i had to change was the RTS/CTS and USB
so i set the RTS/CTS
but the USB wasn't on that list
so i tried writing it down instead of selecting it
and i got this error:
USB port can not open
...
never mind about mtty, i think the port setting for usb must be set on device too. (which your currently unable to do)
i made a mistake in one of my previous posts, the info was not correct:

*ive not used this device for a while now so my info is a bit rusty.
"press and hold the top two side buttons on device = the voice button and the button on the oposite side of the device, (i think its the backlight button)... and now press the soft reset button but keep other buttons held, the device should now go into bootloader"??
Rn
ALLLLLRIGHTY THEN!
finally, the device is at bootloader and connected as USB
now, i need a step by step tutorial, because i dont want to repeat my mistakes, how do i flash a rom?
and can i use a 6.1 factory rom even though my factory rom should be 5?
i want a 6.1 rom, i currently have Artemis Touch Vanilla 4.02 which is the one i want to install(only if i can, if i cant, ill go back to a factory rom)
so...how do i do it?

woop! lol
your spl is 1.11.cmon i would say you can flash any rom for artemis.
tbh the factory rom should only be used as a fail safe when no rom will flash, basicly so people can redo uspl and flash a custom rom.
personally, i would only use 6.1 roms as 6.5 tend to be slow, also considering that you have an old device and that 6.1 runs alot faster and smoother. (glad your choice is for 6.1)
whenever anyone asks for a rom suggestion for this device i always suggest:
ANDREW82 6.1 ROM
youl need to download the cam fix.cab
download Andrew82 rom.
i tried many roms for the artemis and this is the rom i found 1, the fastest and 2, most reliable.
*if you download a rom and there is only one file (.NBH) in the download then download this CUSTOM RUU..
download
(FACT: Andrew82 rom will just be the .NBH rom file so you will need this ruu!)
charge your device to 50+%
(the RUU wont work unless the battery is above 50%)
now put your device into bootloader.
connect device to your pc via usb.
open the RUU (rom update utility) and click through the options.
(the options are just to say there is a risk of breaking your device and bla bla bla)
your device would now display a gray/blue screen with a loading bar.
when the RUU is finished, you should have a success screen displayed on the RUU.
(your device should now restart and load windows mobile.)
if you get an error on the RUU, post the error number here and ill tell you why you got that error.
(usually if the update stops at 3% its because you need uspl)
there is lots of programs for artemis.
ive uploaded some programs for other users so its definatly worth a look here.
Rn
HAAAAAAAAAHAAA!
it worked!
oh, you're brilliant
altough the loading time is quite big, ill manage with it, BTW: do i still have my solitare and bubble breaker inside? because i cant install games on my phone, i mean, i can install them, but they wont run
...
lol cheers dude
erm, i think the games (solitaire/bubblebreaker) should be in the start menu/programs/games folder.
but if they are not there then Andrew82 has not included them into his rom.
its wierd that your other games dont run, does it give an error?
*if i was you i would hard reset your device then try again.
1) Press and hold both soft keys
2) press the stylus/reset button to reset the device.
3) Press Green call button to restore manufacturer default, or press any other key to cancel.
if hard reset does not change anything: reinstall .net framework 3.5.
for java based games: download jblendjava.
Rn
well, either the rom or jblend did it, now the games wont close, however, i cant enter them again, i can only play once after install, how do i find all the games? i tried the file explorer, inside the midlet folder there were setups for the games, but not the games themselves, so, what did i do wrong this time?

it was probably jblendjava that fixed it, so i guess your using java games.
go to taskmanager and Terminate the prosess you want to close.
i dont actually use or play java games, infact i dont play any games on my device, however the few games i did play on my artemis are attatched below.
i do know about the minamise issue though, that happens a lot with java games so i suggest not using java games.lol
go to your games folder in the start menu, all the game links should be installed to that location, sometimes they install to the programs folder..
or run jblendjava and the games might be selectable from a list. (im not sure)
you could even search the program files folder for the .exe of the game.

DOPE WARZ

you can get more freeware games and apps from here, this is where i go to get some cool apps and games.
XDA DEVELOPERS is the only website you will need for freeware! tbh its like gold
i can recomend some 'good' free apps if you want?

[ROM] SuperAosp 8.6-AW, Gingerbread 2.3.4

SuperAosp
THIS ROM IS NOT WELCOME IN FORUM HTCMANIA.
Special thanks to the creator of the inexus theme from which I have been inspired to give a graphic touch to the rom.
This rom (it is not a mod) has been developed entirely from the source code from Google and a very small part of Cyanogen framework.
Thanks to Cyanogen and all its staff for the contributions.
This rom was installed on three terminals, one free from Poland, and two from orange, one with two months and another one with one day. The tree without problems
Before start anything take into account the following steps:
Before start you must have kies installed on your pc and that detect your terminal in a normal way, this is necessary because it needs the driver for odin that is the following that we must hace to install the two first steps.
Odin is attached:
http://cdn.movilzona.es/repos/superatmel/ROMS/SuperAosp/Galaxy/OdinV3_1.85.zip
Also you must put your phone in download mode without problems, the phone must support the three buttons. Because depending on the buttons combination it will make different things.
With the phone totally turned off:
Home+volume up+power = Download mode
Home+volume down+power = Recovery mode
You must test these combinations before start because it is possible that your terminal does not support this buttons combination and you will have serious problems,
Rom installation method:
This rom in installed primary steps
You must have 3 files for installation
1. Rom Stock froyo http://cdn.movilzona.es/repos/superatmel/ROMS/SuperAosp/Galaxy/GT-I9000_FROYO_PDA.tar
2. Kernel with recovery ClockWork http://cdn.movilzona.es/repos/superatmel/ROMS/SuperAosp/8.6/KernelCMW2.tar
3. Rom SuperAosp http://cdn.movilzona.es/repos/superatmel/ROMS/SuperAosp/8.6/[email protected]
Method for installation onto the system
It is really easy, I will try to explain as easy as possible in order to avoid problems.
1st. Step
Turn off kies from the system try
Start Odin
Put the phone in download mode
Select PDA and put the first file GT-I9000_FROYO_PDA.tar
Plug the phone to the PC
It will turn yellow one of the com ports, wait several seconds and push Start
Wait to reboot
If in the boot it stops on recovery mode, make a wipe data factory reset.
If in the boot it starts as usual, it is not necessary to make anything, just wait until the launcher appears
Unplug the phone from the PC
Now on the mobile go to settings, privacy and turn on USB debug
Plug the phone to the PC
Activate the USB card to pass the SuperAosp rom to the internal SD card. BE CAREFUL to the internal not the external one. If you do it in the other way, you will not see the rom to make the installation.
With these steps we will have a original Froyo installed and the SuperAosp rom waiting in the SDCARD for the third step
2nd. Step
Close odin and unplug the phone
Turn off the phone
Reopen Odin
Select PDA
Put the kernel with recovery KernelCMW2.tar
Put the phone in download mode
Plug the phone to the PC
It will turn yellow one of the com ports
Push Start
Wait until reboot
When the Launcher is loaded, we will have a kernel with recovery ClockWork installed
Unplug the phone from the PC
3rd Step and last one
Turn off the phone and restart in recovery mode
Home+vol down+power
It will start in recovery mode
Select wipe data factory reset
Select choose zip from sdcard
Select SuperAosp
Install and wait until finish. Reboot the phone with reboot system now option.
It will reboot twice and finalle we will have the rom installed,
I hope that you find it easy. If you follow my steps to the letter you will not have any problem
ATTENTION!!!
This rom is autoinstalled itself, i.e. it is totally reconfigured
I advice you to skip the configuration of the google account pressing skip and afterwards in the launcher you can configure the rom to your like. If you don't skip the settings of the google account, the phone will connecto to the market and start downloading all the aplications you had preciously installed and that might (it probably will do) saturate the phone because it is trying to do a lot of things at the same time, and it also restore the background image of your home to the one you had previously, and you ask me that how it is possible if you had installed the rom with wipe, to have the same image as before. In this way, you will have a clean instalation. Afterwards, you can log in to the marker and install any free application, so the market will resync and install again the previous applications you had on the phone.
Those of you who made backups of any kind or program, pay special attention, because you might have some problems. (I am speaking of backups, included the SupSetup but applications), specially pay attention to the configuration data restoration of any kind. If in doubt, better not do it.
New SupSetup V20 on all roms, it will not work any other previous SupSetup for this rom
The new SupSetup has integrated the activation of applications on demand in the applications extra section, you can activate the applications that you are interested on because the rom comes in "LITE" mode (without extra applications installed) so as anyone of you can choose their best configuration.
It is important to activate the applications from the SupSetup before setting up the google account, so as when the phone sync with the servers while setting up the google acount, this extra applications fall into the download section. After opening the market, and for the applications to show in the download section, just install any free application, so the market wil resync the downloads.
General
- “LITE” mode rom
- New graphical aspect different to SuperGinger's
Added
- Wake & Unlock
- Bluetooth always visible from Settings (tolemaC)
- Clock hide
- Battery percentage
- Part of CyanogenModsettings from Cyanogen
- etc...
Apps
- More apps could be installed from extra application on SupSetup
- Google Apps
- Flash Player 10.2

Very nice to see a Pure AOSP build. Is there any bugs which we should look out for?
Also, did you go for a CM7 based kernel or build your own?
Damn it, ment to edit that post ^
Tried your rom (curiosity)
Respect Neat and clean
EDIT: CMW in spanish is a bit hard to understand , good thing there is google translate
haha i just installed this on my brother's nexus S
GREAT to see this here !!!
1.in step 1 do we need to check repartition or leave it unchecked?
2.if i am running Gingerbread now will my backups from titanium will have troubles restoring beacuse this is AOSP and now i am on samsung rom RFS and my backups were made on GB?
3.can i use this method to downgrade to froyo ? http://www.theandroidsoul.com/ezbase-ezrom-for-android-2-2-install-revert-back/
and then install SA ?
4.are there any bugs we should know about or its perfectly stable for daily use ?
hope to get these answers soon and i am SOOOO going to flash this baby _
The very last ROM I flashed on my Nexus One And that was 2 months ago. Will try this for sure.
thanks mate!!
How about the 720p recording and 3G video call?
If they are ok, this rom is good for me.
I am installing now and will report back. Looking great
Good news
I install also
super awesome.
So does everything works in here? like FM radio, video codecs etc? Anything should look out for?
Cheers
You can install the USB drivers from here if you don't want to install Kies, might want to add this to the OP:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961956
Is this really an aosp build? Own kernel? Buglist?
No issues yet FM Radio is there
Yes they use there own SuperAOSP Kernel
Everything is working and running very well for me. I am curious to see what theming options are available? I am guessing I could try CM themes?
I did have to go into the Wireless and Network settings> Mobile networks and Tick Data Enabled and Un Tick Use only 2G Networks before I could get 3G signal as the toggle in the notification drop down was not working
is this as fast as CM roms uppon2? man downloads so slow lol
I'm gonna try. will report back.

I think it is just as fast maybe even faster
I like the fact that it already has the kernel and everything needed to flash inside the ROM. No need to get GAPPS afterwards or anything like that. Just works right away. There is a lack of features with the launcher but I am yet to test any others
OP: Please add this the first post: to go into the Wireless and Network settings> Mobile networks and Tick Data Enabled and Un Tick Use only 2G Networks before I could get 3G signal as the toggle in the notification drop down was not working
Also any chance of % battery mod? I love this theme but would be better with %
I think you could also add more apps to the extra apps list
It is running really well. I don't like the default launcher. I am going to try a modified TW 4 and report back. Might try to flash some themes too

The Jiayu G2S was released on January 1, 2013. It was a significant upgrade to the G2 with a lot of hardware changes. For the price, it had an impressive list of specifications:
MTK MT6577T ARMv7 Cortex-A9 Dual-core 1.2GHz processor
GPU: PowerVR SGX531
4 inch QHD IPS screen, 960x540 pixel display, OGS (One Glass Screen)
Dual SIM cards supporting GSM 850/900/1800/1900mhz & WCDMA 3G 2100mhz network (only one 3G slot)
1GB RAM / 4GB ROM
Supports up to 32gb class 12 microSD card (TF card)
8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera
Supports WiFi a/b/g & WiFi hotspot, Bluetooth with EDR & A2DP, GPS & AGPS
Android 4.1 OS (Jelly Bean), multi-language
FM Radio
Gravity Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Light Sensor, Magnetic Sensor, Gyroscopic Sensor
2200mah battery
Size: 125 x 61x 9.9mm
Weight: 145g with battery
Overall, I really like the look and feel of the phone. Except for the ear speaker hole, the front is one solid piece of glass, wrapped around with a very solid metal frame. The metal frame is not just a thin piece of sheet metal, but is cast metal, provides for complete rigidity for the whole phone, and should do a good job of protecting that large piece of screen glass. This also means that the phone has a bit of weight, but that feels good in my hand. Additionally, I like the more rectangular design of the phone and the more square edge down the sides that the flat metal frame provides. It is very easy to hold onto.
Call quality is very good for me. Reception seems on par with other phones I've used. The wifi might be a bit weaker than my Huawei G300, but it is fine. The screen is very nice to look at and very sensitive, but you should read below about the "jump screen" problem. You should also read below about potential problems with GPS connection issues. I've now owned two of these phones. The first had the jump screen problem, and was replaced under warranty. The replacement has terrible GPS pickup, but no jump screen problem.
The large battery means that I have no problem getting through a day of use, and I probably could use it for two days without a charge most of the time. (But I do not use the phone for gaming.) The phone runs most of the time at 1001mhz or 250mhz when on, and will only jump to 1200mhz in extreme conditions. "Deep sleep" mode is for when the screen is off, but the phone will run at 1001mhz when charging no matter if it is on and being used or not. That is an issue for phones based on this MTK chipset and not exclusive to the JY G2S.
Jiayu includes a few apps targeting the Chinese market for this phone, but other than that, the OS is mostly "vanilla" Android Jelly Bean (AOSP). The phone comes already rooted, so freezing or deleting unwanted apps is a simple solution for what you don't want. There are a number of modified roms available already, including the Lewa rom (http://www.needrom.com/phone-roms/jiayu/g2s/). But you should note that later hardware versions of this phone have different components. You should make a note of what the rom version is that came installed on your phone so that you know what hardware version you are using.
"Jump Screen" Problem Solved?:
Many of the first batch of phones were plagued with screen problems. Commonly referred to as the "jump screen" problem, the result is that when scrolling through screens of data, the screen just "jumps" to a different location without any apparent reason. The screen also "quivers" when touching it, even if you aren't moving your finger. Jiayu promptly acknowledged the problem and tried to correct it with a quick ROM update released on January 9, 2013. (The build number of the ROM is: G2S 20130108-104044.) This ROM update did seem to work for some, but for others the problem persisted.
At this point, I personally don't know if the problem has been completely solved in the manufacturing of subsequent batches of the phone. My phone had the problem, and flashing the new ROM did not solve it. I returned the phone for replacement under warranty and did receive a replacement phone that does not have the problem. So whether or not there still is a manufacturing problem, Jiayu can replace the phone with one that works. However, see below for the GPS connection problem that I now have.
GPS Connection Problems:
There are also a number of users here who are reporting difficulty with weak GPS fix. My GPS fix on my first phone was excellent, but my replacement phone is not good at all. It has been suggested to install "Faster GPS" from the Play Store, which will let you set your location. Also, you can look at this post from later in this thread for more information: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=39975417&postcount=209. (Please post any solutions you discover in this thread.)
ROM Flashing:
One of my initial struggles was getting the official rom flashing tool to work. I finally got things going, and I hope I can help others who "just don't get it". So if you want some detailed instructions in English for how to flashing a new official ROM onto the Jiayu G2S, have a look at the second post. (If you are flashing a third-party rom, follow the rom builder's instructions.)
ClockworkMod Recovery:
"Thingbreaker" has provided us with a working CWM Recovery. Here's his post link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37521066&postcount=28
There are two ways to flash the CWM Recovery image: using the ROM flashing tool (harder) or using Mobileuncle Tools (easier).
To use Mobileuncle Tools, install it from the Play Store (free). Copy the CWM Recovery image file to the root of your SD card, making sure there are no spaces in the filename. Run Mobileuncle Tools and choose Recovery Update. Choose the recovery image file that Thingbreaker provided.
To use the ROM flashing tool, you first you need to understand how to flash a complete rom as explained in the second post of this thread directly below. After you know how to do that, then look at this post to learn what is different about only flashing the recovery image: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37499848&postcount=23
Conclusion:
I do not recommend purchasing this phone. Period. Until Jiayu can do a better job of quality control, I don't recommend their products. There are other companies out there who's phones are only slightly more expensive, but who have a much better reputation for quality control.
Jiayu, if you are reading this, you need to do better! And you really need to improve your repair department as well. Sending me a replacement phone with a GPS problem causes me to wonder if you are using the "shuffle" method of passing around bad phones instead of repairing them. I'm NOT a satisfied customer.
“Unofficial” Guide to Flashing the Official Jiayu G2S ROM
Disclaimer: I’m just one guy who got this to work after a lot of trial and error. I’m only telling you how I did it. I don’t claim it will work for you. I don’t guarantee you won’t brick your phone by following these instructions. And you should understand that if you don’t bother to read carefully and do exactly what I say, you really can brick your phone. Also, it seems there has been an upgrade to some of the components in later versions of the phone released in March 2013, and you will want to verify which version of the phone you have before installing any roms. You should be able to check the rom build information for the date on your particular phone. This guide only describes how to flash the official rom from Jiayu for the G2S. If you intend to install some other third-party rom, please follow that rom builder's instructions.
Pre-requisites:
You need a PC running Microsoft Windows 2000 or higher.
If you haven’t previously installed msxml 6.0 and .net Framework 4.0 or higher on you Windows PC, do so first. Get them directly from Microsoft. (I assume you know how to search.)
Download the following:
Latest Jiayu G2S ROM update; the rom I installed was the G2s_20130109-104044 stock rom: http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?shareid=157669&uk=839171988 (Note: the build number of the ROM after installation is: G2S 20130108-104044; don't be confused by the name of the file.) Use Google Translate if you need to see which button to push to start the download. Also note that there is a newer official rom for newer versions of the phone. The rom date is 20130306. I don't know what happens if you install the newer version on an older phone.
This zip file contains the Android USB driver, VCom drivers, SP Flash Tool, and a document of these instructions (ReadMe.doc): http://www.mediafire.com/?tc4q3wy5eabowhf
Unzip the files you downloaded and move/copy folders and files where they need to go:
Within the rom zip that you downloaded from the Baidu website, you can find the \G2s_20130109-104044 sub-folder. This folder contains the actual rom files (14 files). Move this entire folder onto your desktop. The reason for doing this is that there are folders within the zip file whose names contain characters that your version of Windows might not be able to read, even if you can see them in Windows Explorer (the filemanager). This will cause you trouble when you try to flash the rom.
After unzipping the driver and flash tool zip file, you will find the \USB-VCOM-Drivers folder with \INF and \SYS sub-folders. In the \INF folder there are three other sub-folders: \ 2K_XP_COM, \Vista, and \Win7.
Copy the \INF\cdc-acm.inf file into your C:\Windows\inf folder. (You may have to give permission to do this.)
Based on your version of Windows (2K-XP, Vista, Win7, 32-bit or 64-bit), locate the one correct usb2ser_????.inf file and copy it to your C:\Windows\inf folder. (You may have to give permission to do this.)
Copy both the \SYS\androidusb.sys and \SYS\usbser.sys into your C:\Windows\System32\driver folder. (You may have to give permission to do this.)
Install the drivers:
Plug your phone into your computer with a USB cable. If you had not previously installed the drivers, the system will start trying to install them.
If the system asks you to choose to install the drivers, click on “install the software automatically” and proceed.
If system is unsuccessful in locating and installing the drivers, you can try to go back and locate the drivers yourself by pointing to the individual files, but this should not happen if you properly copied the drivers over to your C:\Windows system folders.
BACKUP YOUR DATA NOW!
Proceeding beyond this point is going to mean that EVERYTHING on you phone is going to be deleted and a new system will replace it.
You have been warned!
Warning!
Attempting to install a rom that does not use the correct “scatter” file (see description below) will brick your phone. Don’t do it. If you aren’t sure a rom is made for your phone, don’t attempt to install it.
Install the updated ROM:
1. Turn off your phone, open the back, and remove the battery.
2. Plug your USB cable into your PC and phone. If your PC attempts to install drivers, let it finish.
3. Unplug your phone from the cable.
4. Start the SP Flash Tool program by clicking on the Flash_tool.exe file. If you get a security warning, allow it to run.
5. Click on the “Scatter-loading” button on the right side.
6. Browse to your \Desktop\G2s_20130109-104044 folder and choose the MT6577_Android_scatter_emmc.txt file. All other files will be chosen automatically.
7. Click on the “Firmware -> Upgrade” button.
8. Plug your USB cable firmly into the phone. The Flash Tool will automatically start flashing your new rom. Wait for it to finish and show you the green circle.
9. Unplug your phone from the cable.
Rebooting the phone:
1. Install your battery.
2. Very carefully, without touching the screen, push the power button.
3. Do not touch the phone as it boots!
4. After it has completed booting, you may again use your phone normally.
Following the advice that it might help if the phone is very cold when updating to the new rom, I tried putting it in the refrigerator. Unfortunately, that did not seem to help in my case. The phone still has the "jump screen" problem.
Of course, any other ideas would be appreciated as well.
Has anyone yet been successful in creating a Recovery mod (i.e. ClockworkMod Recovery)?

twrock: Make sure you do not have screen protector applied and you do not touch the screen during the first boot after flashing.
Thanks for the advice. But I'm not using a screen protector, and I am being very careful about not touching the phone. Nothing seems to help.
Sent from my G2S using xda app-developers app
Have you identified production date of your phone? Is there a sticker anywhere? We might come to a conclusion later on, of which date onward the factory has solved the problem... It might be a hardware problem after all.
Still waiting for mine to arrive...
hi there, for those who already have in their hands the g2s is it possible to give more reviews about its gps and the camera especially at night? thanks
Hi.
I have just created a ClockWorkMod recovery image for the Jiayu G2S.
I don't have the phone yet, it is still on its way, so I can't guarantee that it will work.
Download: http://db.tt/vFO4S6Mc
When flashing this recovery, use the same scatter file as for the stock rom.
If you don't have the scatter file here it is: http://db.tt/Z4TWPowQ
Please try it at your own risk, and give me feedback.
I received mine today. I am stunned. This thing is amazing. After all the HTC's I have this is a dream.
Mine doesn't seem to have the screen problem, but has the 20130108 firmware. I will wait a couple of days and see how it's running and the flash it.
CWM for this would be amazing and unabridged CyanogenMod would be even greater. Wonderful times!!!

I'll give it a try.
What method did you use to create it? Did you use Koush's "builder"?
I also tried to make a CWM Recovery using the builder. The builder said it was successful, but the resulting CW recovery would not boot.
I'll let you know when I have the time to try it. Thanks.
Anyone know how to get rid of the Google search bar at the top of the standard Launcher? I'd guess that Google doesn't want us to be able to get rid of it.

I don't know if my experience is much help. I live in Taiwan, so I suspect my GPS satellite locks were about the same as they would be in China. So for what it's worth....
My first GPS use locked in less than two minutes. I was outside in a parking lot on a clear day when I started. I got into the car after about 30 seconds and put the phone on the dashboard. It was locked in before the screen shut off (which is set at 2 minutes). I did not have Wifi connected, so no help from that. Subsequent to that first use, locking in took less than 15 seconds.
I haven't taken any pictures at night, so I can't help you there.
I'll mention here that if I decided to order this phone today, I'd find a way to get it straight from Jiayu. I ordered mine from Etotalk.com (and wasted money on their "Etotalk mod rom"), and they aren't being very helpful with aftersales follow up. I finally gave up on them and am now talking straight to Jiayu support. But I have to wait until after Chinese New Year to send it back. They said that they would not be able to replace the phone until after Chinese New Year anyway, so sending it back now would only mean I would be without the phone longer.
hello, i'm G2S first batch too, what do you mean about shaking problem? is it shake hard ? i got the problem while charging the phone, but if it's unplug, it's seems to be normal.
i'll try the new firmware from this thread, thanks for the link
by the way, i've ported the CWM recovery for G2S, i'll upload it if you need it
For those who already have the phone, is the signal strong even if you are inside buildings?
I'm asking this because many users report that jiayu g3's signal is very week when you get indoor, and i'd like to know if it was corrected in this version.

by the way, i've flashed the newest firmware from the page1, and the "jumpscreen" error while charging is now fixed. More stable touchscreen, thanks man

[GUIDE] Delete "Temporary files and Preview Build Updates" that are stuck

EDIT: I'm going to assume this method would also allow you to cancel an update/prevent installation of an unwanted build. I have not tested this, however I can't imagine why it wouldn't work, so long as you have not started the installation.
If you're like me and cant update your device any longer because the Temporary Files are filling up your device memory, then follow this guide and hopefully you'll be downloading the latest update in no time.
Problem: Windows Update downloads a preview build but never installs it, then begins downloading the next, and the next, until eventually it has eaten up all of your phone memory. I'm not sure if this is a bug that occurs on specific builds, devices, or under odd circumstances. Regardless of how and why it happens, its EXTREMELY inconvenient and prevents you from updating your device any further. It would seem that the only solution is to Hard Reset your device, but I was not content with doing this, so I dug deep and found a solution.
Cure: Manually delete the temporary files using a PC, Windows Explorer, and a third party app called Unlocker.
LINK for Unlocker: http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/unlocker.html (I'm not sure how much this really helped as I never seen any direct interaction between the program and the files being deleted, however I was unsuccessful in deleting the files previously WITHOUT it, so I assume it is necessary.) During installation, choose Advanced and uncheck the Toolbar installation if you don't want that installed.
After searching through the phone's system files, I managed to find where the temporary files are stored, and eventually i was able to delete them.
Pre-Requisites: A PC, Full FileSystem Access on your device, and Unlocker (deletes files Windows says are undeleteable).
1. After installing Unlocker, go to your Start Menu and run the Unlocker Assistant. Then start Unlocker, navigate to the following directory in the window that appears: This PC\Windows phone\Phone\Data - Click OK and the box closes.
2. Navigate to the following directory in Windows Explorer:
This PC\Windows phone\Phone\Data\PROGRAMDATA\SOFTWAREDISTRIBUTION\Download
Note: Be patient while this directory loads; there's over 1000 folders within it.
3. Highlight the folders all at once or in groups. I chose to do it in groups for performance reasons.
4. After Highlighting the folders, PRESS the DELETE button on your keyboard. I say press DELETE because right-clicking them and bringing up the context menu could cause Windows Explorer to hang for a long time. I found simply pressing the DELETE button instantly brings up the confirmation window without any performance problems.
5. After all folders have been deleted, disconnect your device and go back to your Storage app to check that the Temporary Files says 0bytes.
6. Go to Updates and click Retry. Your phone should now look for and begin downloading the latest build available to you depending on the ring you've selected.
7. Congratulations! You're Done!
nice

Can't Delete but Finally
Tried on Microsoft Lumia 540
with Interop tools (InteropToolsApp_Beta_1.6_0.0.150.0_arm)
Used interop unlock Full Fill System Access
Thanks for the post :highfive:
But,
First I failed with unlocker.
it was always saying "you can't delete this file blah blah blah
I don't know what I were doing but this worked for me
I was trying to install project my screen app.
I installed the app but the device didn't ask me to project the screen.
So,
1. I removed my device from Control panel > Devices and Printers
then I search for my device driver in Device manager but I couldn't find it.
2. I installed Project my screen app and after re-plugging the device it worked successfully
3. I uninstalled Project my screen app and also the drivers in Device manager .
4. Then I plugged in my device and checked again to delete those files and BOOM it worked !
now this is how my device shows

Thanks for the update bruh, :highfive: I'm just a noob for windows
The easiest way to delete the pending files from "Preview Build Updates" is setting the date 50 years forward and restart the phone. No hack is required.
