Try reinstalling it via the swype installer...
Swype beta
I had the same problem. If you go to swype.com log in and ask for another invitation, Swype will send you a new e-mail & will send you another copy. You will have to delete both the old swype program and the old installer on your phone, then . just reinstall it and it all works again. If you did not register and got swype some other way you may be out of luck for now because beta is closed for now.

I got it to work by reinstalling. I'm a happy camper. Thanks for your help. In my search for a solution I found that they don't have a version for the evo if you weren't part of the beta. Kind of sucks

you can register to take part in the beta testing, that is the only legitimate way (and when the beta expires, you simply pick up a new one)

Anyway I suggest you to try the nuance flext9 . I've always used swype but then I tried the flex, cause I was tired of the many bugs of swype... now I'm totally satisfied! I'll never go back to swype xD

Does swype not work for anyone else? When I downloaded the beta, it said it was designed for another device. It's just a regular keyboard, I can't drag/swype to type. Is anyone else experiencing this?

sign up on that website .. it will send you open it on ur phone browser(make sure mobile view is ticked) it will install swype installer.. just install swype english and spanish and if u aint one of these 2 then download the 1st one.. and follow the instructions

After you downloaded swype installer and installed it, he asks you if you want to enable swype... Click on yes and the installer will license swype -> I had the same issue
Hey guys I need. Some help....so I like swype on froyo cuz I got use to the fast writting and stuff and I was wondering how can I get that for every rom I flash...I've tried the markets *slideit keyboards* yeah they aren't quite like swype...I've also tried taking out the apk file from backup and installing it but it never work either the swype don't wok or it forcecloses..so inconclusion can someone please update me on how to do this so swype works..

Go to www.beta.swype.com and register as a beta user. That's all you need to do.

Swype works fine on Gingerbread, its what I use.
If the Swype APK is pulled from another ROM, it might be the wrong version, and not compatible with GB. Easiest way to get Swype is to just sign up at the Swype beta website like the previous response stated. Then it will send the installer to your phone, which will install Swype, and you will be good to go.

My swype was working fine and for some reason its not swyping.. but I can still tap the letters in. I looked through the settings and whatnot and its enabled.. Anyone else have this issue?

I got it also on Legendary 2.2. Aside from the annoying EL30 msg's, recently got msg that "newer version of swype is available... please upgrade"

Yeah basically.. and when I try to swype the swype a blue line outlines the keyboard and it doesn't input the "swyped" word
Try deleting swype and downloading the newest from Swype's site.

On swypes website, it says if it came preinstalled on your phone, the beta may not work. Try force closing and restarting swype from the running applications menu under settings and delete the data it stored. Restart and see if that fixes it

Totally ignored that when the new beta came out. Renamed Swype.apk to Swype.bak and downloaded and installed it. Haven't tried it with the newest one yet.

I redownloaded after updating to CM9 and it works just fine for me. I dont think you could mess it up too bad though.

I did that everything went smooth then i turned off my phone and turned it back on and it wasn't working at all i swype it keep saying please try again everything was gone all my words saved in the dictionary it was beyond weird.

If you still have the libs from the old swype it will screw everything up

...or just sign up for the beta and download the installer from Swype. Make sure to remove all the stock Swype stuff...there are 2 files to remove.

i think gestures were always there - nice to have some theme options though!

Anyone else experiencing problems with getting the installer for Swype? I am already registered on their website and I have been for nearly 2 years. I haven't used Swype in a while since I switched to Swift Key. I want to try Swype again but they are not sending me the email with the installer link. Has anyone else ran into this issue?
I haven't used swype for a while, but I noticed it ask for a lot more permissions .Im about to give it another try,

I am having the same issues. Didn't recognize my password, so I did the reset. Changed it, and it still will not let me in. I think they are having some issues.

Yeah same thing happened to me I had to re register my email.so try re registering

I think they were just having some major issues with their servers.
I tried to create a new account with my same e-mail. Told me an account already existed, so I went to log-in instead, and now it lets me sign in finally.
Went back to the installer on my phone, and now I can sign in and download beta 1.3.
