Problem with the official 2.2 update on my Desire - Desire General

Hey.
So I've tried to install the official Android 2.2 update on my Desire (unbranded) but there seems to be a problem.
After I've downloaded it and the phone have restarted to begin the installation, a triangle with an exclamation mark inside appears.
I believe it has something to do with unrEVOked 3.
How do i get my phone back to stock?
Cheers!

You need to unroot for the official unrooted update.
But check the dev section, and you can get the rooted version to flash to your phone using clockworkmod

Thanks.
But is the rooted version as stable as the official release?
I'm new to all this, sorry =P

I'm in exactly the same position. I used unrevoked a week ago which worked well, but then I ran out of time last weekend to try any roms. So I now have an unrevoked rooted desire and the official ota failed on the triangle and !
I read somewhere that the official rom will be rooted in a couple of days - so it's probably better to wait for that than to unroot.

FroYo OTA failed to verify whole-file signature

I've tried twice already and every time the recovery gives that error, with the little android next to a warning sign. All I can do si reboot and try again... Would this have anything to do with the fact that my Desire went swimming a few weeks ago? Or maybe that I put a custom recovery image on it? If so, how can I put the stock one back on?
I have the original rom, but rootet and get the same issue.
F*** - i rootet mine on thursday because i read HTC is issuing froyo on the desire in december - 4 days later i could do OTA, but now i get this stupid error because (i think so) do not have an original recovery menu anymore.
can ANYBODY provide
*update of recovery mode
*trick/hack to install anyway
*a way back to a non-rooted device
?
THANKS DUDES!
I have the same problem, but don't think its because your pjone went for a swim or the root because i have an un rooted debranded unswimed desire...so any help from any one?
IEF on irc helped me heaps. I'm now rooted and running his rooted version of the OTA update. Updated without wiping, everything was saved.
This is the link to his rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7464523
If you want root, run unrevoked 3.1 and if that doesn't work, find him on irc.freenode.net in #modaco.
same here
It happened the same to me...and it was because i had previously rooted the phone with unrevoked. If you didnt keep an image of the original firmware, search for this file RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed.exe if your bootloader is 0.8, it is the original firmware and execute the file on a windows computer ( before you install htc sync to get the drivers ). Then you'll be able to upgrade to froyo. If your bootloader is another you need another firmware....i dont remember where i saw the links.
i have rooted desire with froyo,i was due an upgrade to 2.29.405 etc .being rooted i failed to upgrade,i then d/loaded the full RUU to my computer, connect via USB in charge mode,10 mins. d/load .installed, working& phone no longer rooted.
Hello,
i have the same problem
after i upgraded to android 2.2
there was only one problem
i cant backup
so i installed rom manager
and this problem appeared
anyone can help?

[Q] Can't Flash Back to 1.47 with RUU

Hello All,
I have an EVO that was running 1.47 (rooted) with no issues. In anticipation for a 100% bugless Froyo ROM I unrooted with the 1.47 RUU so I wouldn't have any issues with the Official OTA. After HTC pulled the ROM I found the manual install version here at XDA and wanted to give it a shot.
While searching for the 3.26 "official" update I stumbled upon Ava's 2.2 ROM. I tried to reroot using SimpleRoot OTA and install Ava's ROM. Once I got to step four I received the error that the original version of the ROM was newer and it wouldn't finish. I tried to follow the steps found in thread ID 7454229 (can't post links yet) but received a Error 140: Bootloader Version Error. I figured that the rooted ROMs for 2.2 weren't far off and one of the geniuses here at XDA would have it rooted in a day or two - so I didn't think twice about just updating to the "official" HTC 2.2.
I received an email with Flipz' new Fresh v3 beta and wanted to jump ship back to the rooted world. When I attempt to reflash the 1.47 RUU I still receive the Error 140: Bootloader Version error. So I'm kind of stuck, I know I'm not rooted anymore (I get prompts from Quickboot and ROM Manager) and I can't flash to an older version to re-root. I've searched and tried repeated times with no success - can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance for all of your help!
Wait, so are you on 1.47 or on Froyo? I'm a bit confused. If you are on 1.47, then you shouldn't have a problem rooting using one of the 1.47 root methods. If you are on Froyo, you are screwed for the time being.
I'm on the 3.26 Froyo update. I was trying to get back to 1.47 via the RUU to reroot with SimpleRoot OTA. Sorry for the long winded, confusing post. I was just trying to provide as many details as possible. I kind of conceded to just waiting for the official 2.2 OTA and an XDAer to root it. I'm just impatient and really want to try out Fresh v3 and Fresh Kitchen.
Thanks for the quick reply!

I am having some interesting ... luck

So last night I got received notification for the OTA update, I have been wanting to go back to stock for a while so I used the downgrade method to unroot, I followed a video walked though the process, and everything went just like theres.
The phone booted up and works fine, but Now I am at
Firmware Version 2.1- update1
Baseband version: 1.00.03.04.06
Build number: 1.22.605.0 CL161493 release keys
My issue is the phone wont get a notification for the Froyo 2.2 OTA update, I am stock now.
I waited over night hoping that in the morning I would get notification for the OTA, still no luck.
So I downloaded the official 2.2 DInc Froyo update, and tried to apply it through recovery. It goes through the process part way then errors out...
Any ideas on what I need to do, All i want is stock froyo.
Search for the 2.2 RUU and use it.
Will the 2.2 RUU be stock and allow for me to get OTA updates?
I am not finding the DInc 2.2 RUU, I have tried the search
Not everyone will get the OTA at the same time.. Might not be your turn yet..
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Okay!!! Yay, I successfully updated using the 2.2 RUU, it was smooth as can be. Thanks : )
Now, I am not seeing my OTA update that I was seeing last night? Any ideas why it wouldn't be there?

Will downloading the new software update affect rooting?

Just got a notification that OTA update version version 3.70.651.1 is available. I have a "new" evo (bought 2 weeks ago) and I'm waiting for the update to Unrevoked to be released so I can root my phone.
My question is...if I download this new OTA update will it keep me from being able to use the new unrevoked (whenever it is released)?
I'm sure that this has been posted before but it will affected your ability to root somehow. The update is just out so there is no definitive way of knowing. Just be patient. Once you get root on your device AS IT CURRENTLY IS (no update applied) then go on ahead and flash one of the deodexed versions of the new ROM that will be flying around...
Just root the phone with its current software build using the unrevoked that is out now and then flash the stock 3.70 onto the phone from any of the devs. There is like 3 versions already and all of them are completely stock. Once someone figures out how to root the new build then use the ruu file that flashes the phone back to stock and unroots it..... You will then have a fresh build of the new OTA ... Root it using whatever proven method comes out and flash away....
Patience young grasshopper.... LOL

Unrevoked tends to corrupt newer phones, especially their 4G. They are not configured the same.

Well the thing is the current Unrevoked doesn't work on my phone as it CURRENTLY is...I have the newest version from the store and it's not currently supported by Unrevoked. So if Unrevoked isn't even out for the version I currently have, it's gonna take even longer to come out with a version of Unrevoked that's compatible with the new OTA update that came out today (if that makes sense lol). But i think you're right...I'll just wait for the new Unrevoked to come out for my current software and take it from there.

firmware 2.1-update1 HTC Evo 4g

Hey guys, so I been trying to root my phone for like the last 3-4 days ever since I got it. Sadly, I cannot root it and have given up hope, and just wish to get my 2.2 firmware back, I've got the stock rom now (sprint lovers?) and everything seems good, except for the fact that my firmware stayed at 2.1-update1, and I can't find a way to get it back to 2.2
Can anyone help me with this?
(Also does anyone live in Fresno, CA? Willing to pay to get my thing rooted )
There are so many things wrong with this question.
If you never rooted, how did you flash a rom?
I have no idea why it'd say you're still on 2.1 if you installed a 2.2 rom to begin with.
How the hell did you downgrade to 2.1 from 2.2?
I don't think they flashed at all there on the stock sprint old enclair ota, but how did they get on 2.1? I suggest you do a ota update. Go to settings - scroll to the bottom and choose system update then choose software update.
Maybe that will get you on froyo 2.2.
Best of luck.

I have tried going to system update and choosing firmware update but it claims there is no update available. I dont know how I downgraded, I was attempting to use autoroot v2.3 and it installed a different rom that says "Quietly Brilliant" at the start-up screen, but now I have it back to stock. Where the original sprint load up screen came up.
Everything seems good except for the fact that it says I'm running firmware 2.1-update1 and can't use my flashlight, on my phone to use the camera light as a LED light :S
First off, if you are rooted, NEVER EVER try to update your phone. You could permanently lose root. Every single guide to rooting tells you this.
Second, just download and run a stock ruu for the latest version of the stock rom.
