Hello All,
I have an EVO that was running 1.47 (rooted) with no issues. In anticipation for a 100% bugless Froyo ROM I unrooted with the 1.47 RUU so I wouldn't have any issues with the Official OTA. After HTC pulled the ROM I found the manual install version here at XDA and wanted to give it a shot.
While searching for the 3.26 "official" update I stumbled upon Ava's 2.2 ROM. I tried to reroot using SimpleRoot OTA and install Ava's ROM. Once I got to step four I received the error that the original version of the ROM was newer and it wouldn't finish. I tried to follow the steps found in thread ID 7454229 (can't post links yet) but received a Error 140: Bootloader Version Error. I figured that the rooted ROMs for 2.2 weren't far off and one of the geniuses here at XDA would have it rooted in a day or two - so I didn't think twice about just updating to the "official" HTC 2.2.
I received an email with Flipz' new Fresh v3 beta and wanted to jump ship back to the rooted world. When I attempt to reflash the 1.47 RUU I still receive the Error 140: Bootloader Version error. So I'm kind of stuck, I know I'm not rooted anymore (I get prompts from Quickboot and ROM Manager) and I can't flash to an older version to re-root. I've searched and tried repeated times with no success - can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance for all of your help!
Wait, so are you on 1.47 or on Froyo? I'm a bit confused. If you are on 1.47, then you shouldn't have a problem rooting using one of the 1.47 root methods. If you are on Froyo, you are screwed for the time being.
I'm on the 3.26 Froyo update. I was trying to get back to 1.47 via the RUU to reroot with SimpleRoot OTA. Sorry for the long winded, confusing post. I was just trying to provide as many details as possible. I kind of conceded to just waiting for the official 2.2 OTA and an XDAer to root it. I'm just impatient and really want to try out Fresh v3 and Fresh Kitchen.
Thanks for the quick reply!

Hi all,
A long while back I used an old version of Unrevoked3 to root my 2.1, and I've since installed several of the 2.2 ROMs which has kept me happy. Now I'm really itching to delete some of the Sprint crapware, and I also noticed that even though I ran the WiMAX update, it didn't stick. Both of these issues are, from what I can tell, due to the fact that I do not have NAND unlocked.
So, rather than go and try one of the older methods to get NAND unlock that potentially involves downgrading the PRI, I decided to just try and run the latest Unrevoked 3.2 which does S-OFF, NAND Unlock, etc. I gave it a shot using the ROM I'm most currently running (the 3.28 Leak) and Unrevoked 3.2 is dying out at the "Waiting for Root" screen, probably because I am using a ROM that already has root. I spoke with the guys in the Unrevoked freenode IRC channel and some of them suggested trying to install an unrooted stock ROM, then run Unrevoked 3.2.
So, can someone point me to an unrooted .zip for the stock 2.2 ROM? I found an RUU .exe file here but I'm afraid that running this is going to remove my recovery, which I really don't want to do in case Unrevoked still doesn't work after installing the "Unrooted" 2.2. There's a link to a .zip ROM file in that thread, but the file is corrupt, I've tried downloading it twice and it won't flash and I can't unzip it from my PC (it says it's corrupt).
Failing this, any other suggestions to get Unrevoked 3.2 to play nicely with my pre-rooted Evo?
Thanks!
I found what I was looking for here:

This essentially puts your phone back to "Factory" 2.2. I ran this and then ran Unrevoked 3.2 and now I'm all up to date with full NAND unlock and S-OFF.
Hello everyone,
I installed the 2.2 incredible ROM leaked in July. Now the official 2.2 is out and I assume that it would be wise to update to it. I am sure this is quite obvious for some but I am not sure what the exact process for my update should be. I updated the radio to the 2.x one in order to update to the leaked 2.2 ROM. I had thought that attempting to install this twice bricked a phone so I am unsure as to whether I can safely just load the OTA 2.2 ROM without bricking my phone.
Thanks
flashing the same* radio twice will brick your phone- yep. check Berzerker7's -The ultimate get back to stock- thread for instructions.
Good luck.
If you have a 2.xx radio you should be able to flash any 2.2 Rom using clockwork
I tried searching on this and closes match I could find was this:

However, that refers to a "Leaked" Froyo firmware. What I'm trying to do is to upgrade my already rooted 2.1 Evo to Froyo (2.2) and then root that of course
If I try to do a OTA upgrade automatically through the phone, I get an error. Anyone advise what the best method of doing the upgrade would be?
Maybe try this -

I had stock 2.2 with the latest OTA and rooted it. It was very very simple. Here's the link-

Hah. Very interesting question. Ok, so rooting lets you change the system as well as the other partitions. Froyo and eclair are both system changes, so try flashing a froyo rom. Didn't you research before rooting?
Yep, you're right. I'd blame it partly on being 1 AM and partly for not thinking it through. Thanks.
So last night I got received notification for the OTA update, I have been wanting to go back to stock for a while so I used the downgrade method to unroot, I followed a video walked though the process, and everything went just like theres.
The phone booted up and works fine, but Now I am at
Firmware Version 2.1- update1
Baseband version: 1.00.03.04.06
Build number: 1.22.605.0 CL161493 release keys
My issue is the phone wont get a notification for the Froyo 2.2 OTA update, I am stock now.
I waited over night hoping that in the morning I would get notification for the OTA, still no luck.
So I downloaded the official 2.2 DInc Froyo update, and tried to apply it through recovery. It goes through the process part way then errors out...
Any ideas on what I need to do, All i want is stock froyo.
Search for the 2.2 RUU and use it.
Will the 2.2 RUU be stock and allow for me to get OTA updates?
I am not finding the DInc 2.2 RUU, I have tried the search
Not everyone will get the OTA at the same time.. Might not be your turn yet..
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Okay!!! Yay, I successfully updated using the 2.2 RUU, it was smooth as can be. Thanks : )
Now, I am not seeing my OTA update that I was seeing last night? Any ideas why it wouldn't be there?
Long story short;
Bought a used Incredible to replace my rooted D1.
Ended up being rooted and still on 2.1 update-1.
I unrooted/wiped hoping it would update to 2.2 but no luck.
I don't have a problem rooting this phone but I would like to get the official 2.2 update on the phone first.
I searched around and found a couple links;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=737400
Now, according to this first link you either need to be rooted with a 2.x radio or root and flash a 2.x radio. (My device does not have a 2.x radio, for the record I have 1.00.03.04.06)
Here's another link;
http://free-pc-guides.com/news/how-to-manually-install-latest-ota-for-htc-droid-incredible-06428
Does this method appear legit? Does this update.zip provide the neccessary radio?
Usually this would be a no-brainer for me but Im confused why the first link requires you to manually flash a newer radio before FroYo...
I would re-root and flash the OTA deodexed ROM thats rooted. PM me for link. or run the most recent RUU to get to most recent release.
