Answer #1: Yes, and I highly recommend netarchy's 3.7.5 for 1.47
Answer #2: LOOK HERE

i am trying the kernel now. Nice tips thanks. I didnt see the kernel was specifically for the 1.47 stock so i picked the general build. That good you think?

Rooted stock ROM + custom kernel?

I am rooting my 2.2 phone tonight and all I want to do is get rid of the damn 30fps cap, remove bloatware and keep everything else pretty much stock. Is it possible to load a custom kernel when using a stock rom or do I need to use a custom rom as well? I really like how sense integrates facebook into the contacts and don't want to lose that.
Also, any kernel/rom recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I have an 003 evo with a Novatek screen.

Most custom kernels work with any ROM, as long as they are for the same build! I put emphasis on this because if you use the wrong ROM/Kernel/Radio combo, you could brick your phone. So do so very carefully. Only use a kernel/radio if it is built for a specific build number.
So I need to find a kernel that is for the 3.26.651.6 build that I want to install? Do you know which kernel will work?
I've had good luck with netarchy's kernels(currently using v4.18). You can find them in the dev section. Using a stock ROM here.

i just flashed this today, so far i'm pretty impressed and liking it, especially since i'm also using Netarchy's HTC OTA froyo final build, both work perfect together so far, i've seen my fps so far bounce to 47fps, lol, sweet.
Thanks for the input guys. I used netarchy's kernel with the rooted 2.2 rom that got installed during the 2.2 root process. It works great and looks awesome, it's so smooth.
New To rooting and all
Hello Everyone;
I have a Droid X running stock ROM version 2.2 I have rooted to remove bloatware but have not done much else. I am interested in using setcpu but do not want to do so unless I can monitor CPU temp. I am wondering where to find the kernel for this, what is it called, and how do I install it step-by-step.
Sorry if this has already been answered but I have been searching for quite some time and can not seem to find the answer.
Thanks For the help.

took me a sec to realize this was a thread resurrection. i was like wtf??? heh <_< >_>

<~ NOOB here, SORRY!

Ok, I know the unsaid policy against posts like this, but I just can't help myself anymore.
I'm pretty good on the ol' computer, been in IT support for 15+ years but am getting frustrated trying to root my EVO.
EVO 4G
3.29.651.5
2.6.32.15 Kernel
I've read, and read and read some more. My confusion comes in when I see many many posts about rooting (all various files and procedures) and then loading custom ROMs. I always ran the clockwork ROMs on my Hero and loved them.
I guess the question is this (quasi - poll) what do you guys consider the best root/backup/ROM so I can get going and get off this stock Sprint stuff?

If your first line reads like that, why you would post it then?
Anyway, wouldn't be so bad if you posted your question in the correct area. How about, um I don't know, the Q&A section?
Quickly , before the mob forms.......
1.Are you running a OTA froyo build (2.2)?
Depending on your answer it will immediately apparent where you should be looking.
Pre 2.2 root using toastch method. After 2.2 use unrevoked. You want nand unlocked. With that you will.
Reading what you have you are on froyo already. Fine. Use the unrevoked 3.21 or 22 . And you're done.
/agree on the mob
/thanks on the advice - here we go...
also, it's not an "unsaid" policy ... it's in the rules.
Ok, up on 2.6.32.15 kernel, CM6 supersonic. Thanks for the help.

[Q] Looking for the most recently updated ROM, that is still stock and rooted?

Does anyone have the most recently updated ROM, that is still stock and rooted?
Just looking for something that is really stable and has as good battery life as the most recently updated stock ROM.
Also, I want an "as close to stock" rooted ROM as possible to play with making my own ROM. Any recommendations on how to get started?
Already did a search and couldn't find any recent Evo rooted stock roms. :/
Thanks!

Utterly Confused on how to Get EC05

Ok All I am getting really confused.
I want to update to the latest froyo and keep my root.
I would also like the latest radio, this all seems pretty damn easy however I read all these different ways but only if you have this version rom or radio, etc.
Do I need to use Odin to flash one of the many files I have found.
Do I use clockwork?
What about the radio, I have an old DK17 one.
This is my setup now:
Unlocked Epic
Froyo 2.2.1 - Epic Experience
radio - DK17
Hardware revision is 5
At this point I am willing to donate to get an answer,
Thx,
Force
Best bet is to post in the general section or Q&A next time, posting in development is a nono and will really only serve to get you flamed.
All custom ROMs available right now are based on EC05 so just flash one of them.

I am having a hard time finding a good custom rom that is based on this. I have a new custom rom loaded now and its not.
Also this still leaves the radio and how to update it.
Sorry about posting here, I didn't think this was a general topic as it deals with flashing & roms. But move it if necessary
Thx,
Force

Syndicate ROM Frozen by ACS is always a good decision. As for the modem update, it is either included in the ROM or you can find a flashable zip for it. I'm on the phone so I can't grab
a link for you, but I know it's around.
EDIT: found it, flash this with Odin and it will update your modem only.

Overclock stock (Rooted) 851 (Can't find kernel)

Hey I feel like a noob for asking but after genuinely searching the site for a few hours I have been unable to find any kernel compatible with my stock rom version 5.0.1 and phone t-mobile us 851. Is there one available and if not is there any way I can overclock my phone without installing a custom rom and a kernel over it. I really appreciate any answers. Thank you. Also just wanted to mention that before asking I actually tried installing incompatible kernels pretty much knowing that they wouldn't work (thank goodness I backed up lol).
