Hello All,
I have been upgrading mine and a few friend's dash's to the Kavana 6.1. My Dash however has a hardware issue (the ear piece speaker is distorted) and is being replaced through warranty service. My new dash arrived today, and I know I need how to re flash my software back before I send it to T mobile. I downloaded TMO_1.22.531.6 from the official rom sticky. However when I open the zip file it is a RUU_signed.nbh file contained inside.
I am not sure how to flash with this file. I assume it requires some other software in order to flash it. I have tried numerous searches and can't really seem to find what I am looking for. I really got spoiled by the simple EXE launchers included with Kavana rom's.
Any help would be VERY appreciated.
Thanks!
You need to go to this thread .
On the bottom of that thread download the files needed zip file, add (copy or move) the .nbh file in that folder after you unzip it of course.
Run the romutilityupgrade.exe file and follow the directions as you did before.
Why not go to Tmobile support site and download the official Rom and install that ?
Thank you for your help -- I actually tried it both ways.
First I tried to use the t-mobile website and when I attempted to run the exe it always failed out on error 202 which of course is usb (even though it was connected). So then I tried it the way by grabbing the software recommended. When I ran the AUTO batch script (similar to the way I installed Kavana), it installed just fine. So that being said, I got it downgraded. If you can't tell I don't have a real great understanding of the actual upgrade/downgrade process.
Issue is tho, when I first got the phone, the initial splash screen was t mobile if I remember correct, but when I upgraded to Kavana it changed it to the HTC logo. Well after the downgrade, it still boots with the HTC logo instead of Tmobile. Will that be a dead give away that I flashed the phone when warranty center receives it? If so how could i change it?
That's definitely gonna raise some eyebrows.. but I kinda doubt they'll notice it. Just look at the idiot phone techs you get when you call their tech support line... I don't know how you would change that...

you can go here--> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=341753 and follow instructions on post #1 to reflash the tmobile boot spash screen. i've tried it and i have the t-mo splash screen now.
Thanks for the help! I actually was able to get it to successfully go away by stepping back another version to .4 from .6 -- this replaced the screen and returned it back to the way it came. Coincidentally, after looking at the replacement units software version and confirming it was .4 I feel fairly confident everything will be fine, oh and now everyone doesn't sound like a robot!
Thanks again,
Chris
I have had my s620 for a while now and everything has been fine, flashed it with a rickys rom then changed my mind and went with kavanas (sp?) then something happened....
i broke the darn screen!, not a problem i replaced it. simple but... i lost all my settings, smart toolkit and the t9 programs were no longer installed?
i've been trying to flash back to kavanas or the new rose rom with no luck, whatever i do it wont run the SPL part of the auto.bat ???
i've unlocked it again, played with the usb connection settings, everything i can think of! someone please help!
i've attached a screen shot of where it hangs for you...
***EDIT*** and i have tried all the obvious things, and some of the less obvious (running the SPL file myself from the device, restarting the device, hard reset, etc)
Maybe try flashing with your official ROM first. I don't know that much but what ever is screwed up from having a broken screen might get fixed doing that. I know, annoying extra step but worth a shot...
i wish it was so simple lol!
I cant find my official rom anywhere, its a UK BT Broadband Rom ???
I've tried 3 different Roms, even tried to bypass the Auto.bat files for the roms and do the flashing manually with no luck!
Edited: (Link removed, was software update. Not the Full ROM)
There's the link to download the official BT Broadband ROM Update
The BT ROM is here http://www.mediafire.com/?mgldgtxc3gq
So did it end up working when flashing with your official rom?
well first try nope, no luck
It went through the install process and not all of the cabs installed (it copies everything to the phone and then runs individual packages) so i stopped the process in fear of bricking my phone.
Im stumped on this one, what could i of done when i replaced the screen that would stop the flashing process from working???

What cabs? The ROM is a .exe the first link placed on this thread is not the ROM it's the BT software update, run the BT ROM i placed link to and see if works?
Actually the first link is the newest ROM for his Phone from the BT Broadband website. I searched it quite extensively to find it. Newer then the one you posted.

hi guys,
I hope someone can help me.....
today I install some app to give extra animation and crap but after I ve done it the phone keeps restarting after I slide the srceen to unlock it.
I have done a hard reset formated the phone and cache and still the same,
I have also tried to flash it but RDS came back with " unable to retrieve info from INI file.
sim card is in but there is still "no service" on,
I ve looked through the forum but non of the posts seems to desrcibe my problem.
cheers,
p.s I forgot to add that my rom was 2.51 uk as far as I aware
regards,
hi,
the 'unable to retrieve ini file' could be because of your usb ports.
however,
if you go to recovery mode( hold vol- during startup then vol+ and vol- simultaneously when you see a little green man) you should be able to get a menu which will let you do a factory reset( clear data) which should make the phone work.
cheers
hi,
yes and I ve done it twice already and still rebboting after unlocking the screen
ane other ideas??
I ve treid to dowload rom but it wont extract and the other one saying that about ini file.
cheers,
hi again,
were you trying to install a flashlight fix zip btw before all this happened?
if so, the only option is a full flash.
try it with a different computer but i think at this moment rsdlite is the only hope.
i know because it has happened to me quite a lot.
cheers
hi,
I thinking the same, however, every rom I download doesnt work,
and now stupid question...where can I get a uk rom from??
cheers,
just check the android development section for the defy,
there are plenty of choices for a uk rom.
download one and flash it with rsdlite from a computer with usb 2.0 .
thats the cause of the ini error apparently.
good luck.
hi,
any link please??
I ve not been lazy its just I dowloaded two already and none of them work,
and now even RSD wont find the phone...just great saturday hahaha
cheers,
http://m.cfa.aero/

thanks would be appreciated.
cheers
hi,
I will keep trying and if it wont help then I will have to go to t mobile and change my handset again,
Thanks a lot amansth
.....right guys please RSD saying couldnt retrieve values from INI file, I dont have access to any other PC so is thre any other way??
I ve got one txt file in the folder with firmware with this number in 09a6752e6119bb69c02d02f06a68d17e maybe that just need changing?? I dont want to mess about with it too much cos I m just a rookie
thanks,
...... Hi guys,
After a 6 hour fight I finally managed to flash my phone and it works, old RSD for some reason wouldnt support the phone so I got the new one and I could sleep much better
The only issue is that I liked 2.51, not necessarily the whole blur thing but I still think software looks much better and for example, mail box wont open, not the google one but the other that Ive added. Market place looks quite old compare to how it looked on 2.51, for eg the buttons for apps, games and apps look like big grey brick where in the other one there where nicely "implemented" into the market website.
however, I could not load 2.51 on my phone because it would stay on black screen with white LED on. I ve tried couple of times and always the same.
maybe I m doing something wrong?? what are those 2.51 boot only for?? I ve tried to put that in first then the firmware and still the same.
thanks all,
hi,
sadly, downgrade to 2.51 isnt possible because you upgraded to the froyo roms, the bootloader is newer so it is impossible to go back.
still, the froyo roms are generally better but somehow they seem laggy sometimes.
hopefully since motorola is pushing beta builds and the actual froyo release will come out around april- may you wont have to stay with the blocky icons for long.
Hello all. I'm new to this and I have to say that the work you guys do here is nothing short of amazing!
I installed the cmod 7 rom on my evo and found this dark horse theme. I would love to have it but I cant find instructions on how to install it. I downloaded the file onto my pc then moved it to my phone sd. Then I went to recovery and tried to install the zip but it showed up as a file with several other files inside that wouldnt allow me to install.
Can anyone please point me in the right driection to find this? Thanks again for all that you guys do!
did you unzip the zip? if so, that's the problem.
welcome to the root world btw.
also, check out the themes in my signature. kfunk is part of modnation, so they're similar to darkhorse.
Hi,
This is my first post here on the XDA forum so if I make any mistakes, please do tell.
So, I got a Galaxy Ace 2 (I8160) which was running unrooted and stock at Android 2.3.6 (if I recall correctly).
I decided I wanted the phone to run at a newer Android version (KitKat preferred), so I decided to look into Cyanogenmod 11.0.
I succesfully installed the Clockworkmod Recovery after soms attempts and after that I was able to install Cyanogenmod 11.0 running on Android 4.4.4.
My first impression was positive, until I noticed I regularly got some error messages about com.android.phone which stopped working.
On top of this, the phone had no service and I was unable to make any calls (also selecting a service provider made com.android.phone crash).
After a lot of looking around on the internet, I found out this could be caused because I flashed Cyanogenmod 11.0 directly from Android 2.3.6.
On another tutorial I read I should've flashed Cyanogenmod 11.0 from any Jellybean version but as I stated earlier, I flashed it from a Gingerbread version.
On another forum I found someone who used to have the same issue and stated that he made the same mistake as I did (flashing from a non-Jellybean version).
He said he flashed a stock Jellybean ROM to his phone, installed Clockworkmod Recovery and at last flashed Cyanogenmod again and everything seemed to be working just fine.
I decided to do the same and flashed a stock Jellybean ROM for the I8160 using Odin v3.07.
After Odin told me the flash process passed, the phone rebooted but was stuck at the Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 logo.
When trying to get into the recovery, I got the same problem and the only thing I saw was the startup logo.
If I'd turn off the phone and plug in to my computer (which normally shows the battery percentage) it'd be stuck at the loading icon (normally this loading icon is visible for about 5 seconds and after that the battery percentage is visible).
I'm still able to get into download mode, so I tried reflashing the same ROM but unfortunately without success.
I used the following stock ROM: samsung-updates.com/details/28857/Galaxy_Ace_2/GT-I8160/XEN/I8160XXNB1.html.
I've been using the Cyanogenmod 11.0 and GApps files from: maclaw.pl/downloads/.
Does anybody have any idea about how I coud fix this?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Just tried flashing a stock ROM with Android 2.3.6, problem is still there: samsung-updates.com/details/18868/Galaxy_Ace_2/GT-I8160/H3G/I8160NELG2.html
In my opinion, You should flash 3-parted Firmware

Thanks for you reply.
I came across this 3-parted firmware flash a few hours ago.
I'm trying it right now. I'll let you know what the results are.
Alright, another update. (My problem seems to be fixed!)
At first I tried downloading the 3 files neccessary for the new flash method, but for some reason it'd take me hours to download them.
I started looking on the internet for the same files and found a torrent link on another forum leading to a torrent file uploaded here, on the XDA forums: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1757643&d=1361735404.
I downloaded the files in the torrent and used them properly in Odin.
The flashing process started and at about 80% Odin gave me a nasty error message saying the flash failed...
At that moment I was seriously hopeless and pretty sure I've just succesfully hard-bricked my phone.
I tried to start it and I got a weird message saying a firmware update went wrong and that I should fix it using Samsung Kies.
As it stated, I tried using Samsung Kies but was unable to get my phone to work.
I was out of options so I decided to give the 3-way flashing method a second chance.
Oding started flashing and for some reason finished succesfully this time.
The phone reboots, and shows the 'Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 GT-I8160' message for a few minutes.
After that the Samsung logo pops up and I've waited for another few minutes until a new screen pops up.
I see the Android guy and a blue progress bar underneath and patiently waits untill it's done.
After this I see the Samsung logo again and the phone finally boots to Android! Great Success!
Conclusion in my case: The 3-parted firmware seemed to do the trick for me.
As I stated above, the first flash failed but the second one was totally succesfully and revived my phone.

Yeb - you can use also the 3-parted MB4 (which was an very early JB FW).
But as the MB4 is not 100% complete - I still recommend only to use the 3-parted FWs linked by me (which ChuckMichael shows you)
But anyway - If your Phone booted you are done - You do not need to to it again. Just flash afterwards the newst original FW available.
