Given the charger is at the top of the Galaxy S - when I plug it into my Idapt charger the phone is upside down.
I'm looking for an app to turn the screen upside down - like an extension of the protrait/landscape functionality on turning the phone on its side.
I've searched but to no avail
Can anyone help?
Even I wanted something like that.
I looked and found it had been enabled on cyanogen.
Which version of cyanogen I don't know. Theoretically android should be able to do 360 rotation.
I'd love if anyone had any suggestions.

Some roms for some phones enable it
i think if it was their it would be under settings/display/rotation/ (then there is options for 90* 180* 270* 360* or something likie that by the way the * is ment to be a degree sign couldnt find it on my keybord nd cudt b asked to google it sorry

Hi,
I wondering if there is a hack or any kind of mod that allows epic to have screen upside down. I searched around the forum, and none had answer except to get CM7.
Since we got Gingerbread 2.3, I am wondering if there is a hack.
This site mentions way to enable 180 deg rotation for 2.3: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/...e-rotations-by-90-but-enable-rotations-by-180
I recently busted AUX cable in my car because of inconveniently placed audio slot for our epics..
Let me look for this. I know I had it on a ROM in the past. I am not sure if it was intentional or not. It was 360 degrees. It didn't matter what way I turned my phone, the screen rotated in every direction.

Thanks for looking,
I searched through out internet, and looks like only solution right now is to get CM7.
I am wondering how other people are handling having aux port on top of the phone?
Is there an music app that flips upside down? just flip the image of control buttons and display? I wouldn't think that would be hard...
Did some digging and it was an error in my ROM or kernel I believe. It was quite some time ago but it is possible as you found out however if CM7 does it, you still are going to have to wait for a bit

When I'm in my car, I have my GN mounted on a vent, and plugged into power. I'll often use this to check traffic with Google Maps, or for whatever reason, would like to keep the display on (preferrably full power since it's not running off the battery), and not dim after the preset time. I have yet to find a way to do this.
I have gone into Developer Settings, and enabled the "Stay Awake" when plugged into power, but this does not prevent the screen from dimming after the preset time. So this doesn't accomplish what I want.
On my prior Touch Pro 2, there was a simple setting - keep display on, full brightness, when plugged into power. Seems like a no-brainer to have this feature, but I'll be darned if I can find it.
Any ideas? Or Apps that will provide this functionality?
Thanks.

I think screebl might help. Not 100% sure that it will though

Thanks. As you said, it doesn't seem Screebl will do what I'm wanting.
There are a few other Apps, such as "Stay Awake" where you can configure it to keep the display on whenever a specified app or apps are running. I guess this might be an option.
But seriously, this seems to be a major omission in Android. I understand why one might want the display to auto-dim (although I can just turn it off when I want, so even this is questionable). But if it's plugged into power, surely the user should have a readily available option to keep the display on. For example, a "Never" option in the screen that has the various timeout options.
I'm new to Android - is there really no straightforward way of doing this??
Bump..
Still hoping for a straightforward way to keep the display at full power when connected to my car charger.
Thanks.
Widgetsoid has as one of its display switches to keep the display always on, and it does work. So I made a 1x1 widget that has that one switch, and use it when I want the screen to stay on. Not elegant, but functional.
Thanks for the suggestion; I'll check it out.
I'm still somewhat surprised that this pretty basic functionality isn't built into the OS itself, or that there aren't ready-made Apps to implement this.

I dont think google had car mode ready for release. Couple that with the fact the car dock with pogo pins hasnt been released either. Yes google f'ed up but im sure we will see it in future update. Or a dev will probably be nice enough to do something.

Yes, I'm a first timer with Android, but I still do my research before posting. Did you actually read my initial post or the Subject title?
I have already enabled this setting. Yes, it does keep the screen 'awake' but it still dims after the timeout in Display Settings.
My post is how to keep the screen at normal brightness when plugged into power
I read your post. I agree, it is annoying. I have not found a solution to it and it has bugged me for years while in the car. I have had 4 android phones and it has been the same on all of them so it is not an individual phone thing, it is an android thing. My best suggestion is while in the car to have navigation turned on, that keeps the screen fully lit. I would think that some enterprising developer could delve into how the navigation mode keeps the phone at full power and come up with an app to do the same.

Thanks.
I've been looking at a few Apps (Screen On, Screen Timeout Widget, KeepScreen), but there are questions about each of them, uncertain compatibility with ICS, etc.
I did discover that when I had a Video playing (podcast through BeyondPod), the display did stay undimmed while I was plugged into Power. Navigation also works this way. Really crazy that this isn't an available option in the OS.
This worked on my old Droid, haven't tested on my Galaxy Nexus yet -- but hopefully the app is ICS compatible: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.probeez.liteprofiles&hl=en
Setting Profiles Lite is limited to one rule -- so make your one rule this: When charging, screen timeout=never (since this actually changes the screen timeout on the basic level, instead of the workaround that the Dev Settings option triggers).
(The full version of Setting Profiles will of course also do this, and I'm sure you can also do this with Tasker.)

I've searched around a bit but could not find an answer do I apologize if it has been answered already but it seems like when I use multi touch a game or something it will not work while my thumb is in the bottom right corner in landscape. This is only while doing multi touch though. Another quick question out of curiosity, it seems that lg charger don't really play nice with this phone. The 2 I have tried didn't work so I was just wondering if someone else could try this. I am unrooted and have the lte version. Thanks for the help.

This is a known issue. You will have to wait for some one more knowledge to better explain it though
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
i can't explain it, but it is a bug and your not alone.
quick fix is to press power to shut off the screen, then turn it back on. I've done this in cordy about a dozen times now and it works perfectly.
Hi all, my mom recently bought the captivate glide. (it is a rogers one, i927r is the model number... & the rogers boot animation is a giveaway lol)
Anyways, it's unlocked, stock, not rooted & she's using it on straight talk at&t.
Here's the issue: the auto-rotation is shoddy/a little over zealous.
Even if the phone is upright, if she/I goes in the messaging app, or any other app, or menu, the screen auto rotates into landscape mode. The only way to fix the issue is to take the auto-rotate option all the way off... which sucks because l obviously she needs it for other things.
I come from a gnex & don't really know much about this device. I thought it would be a good crossover phone for her as this is her first smart phone.
Please, any help/insight is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I too have noticed the rotate to be at times over zealous. The way that I worked around it is to disable the auto rotate and when I need it to rotate simply open the keyboard tray as that will still rotate the screen even if the auto rotate is disabled. I know it is not the solution you are looking for but just letting you know what worked for me. I see you did mention not wanting to turn off auto rotate but the way I do it you have a work around. Good luck

Thanks for the replies. I wouldn't mind a workaround, but I feel my mom will. Looks like this device may be going back.

I'm not sure if we are talking the same issue but 2 or 3 times the rotation seems to get 90 or 180 degrees off. Turning off auto rotate worked around it until I could reboot which made it go away. I've had the phone for 9 months and it hasn't happened in a long time.

I'm not positive it's the same issue or not. I helped my mom move from Verizon to prepaid at&t (straight talk). Purchased a brand new captivate glide. If the phone is upright (portrait) & I open the messaging app or settings/anything... the phone will go into landscape, no reason at all. Takes a lot to have it rotate back to portrait & when it finally does, it spazzes out & rotates back into landscape, again for no apparent reason. It's stock, not rooted, on 2.3.6.
I've had a lot of android phones & none have ever done this. Again, any help/insight is appreciated. Thanks.

I just got a new Note 10.1 2014. I haven't yet rooted it though I plan to.
There must be a simple answer to this though I can't find it.* I have three Note 2s, a Note 3, and have been routing phones for many years going back to early HTC Windows phones. But alas I haven't found what must be a self evident to most.
How do I get rid of this persistent constant Samsung advertisement for the Note 10.1 features.* When I go into sleep (by this I mean push the power button briefly -- not power off) or close the lid so the screen goes dark, within a few seconds the screen starts up again with this never ending advertisement that begins with a helicopter flying and then proceeds with video of every feature of the device - at least from Samsung's perspective. So last night I put the device to sleep with a full battery charge and didn't realize the screen was reactivated by this b annoyance and was on all night even though the cover was closed. In the morning the device was off with zero battery.
I don't know if they consider this a screen saver or what but I can't find how to turn it off.
Can someone help?* Thank you very much.

Might be that you have daydream feature and it came with a small demo of the tablet's features. Check under display settings to see if that's the problem.

Thanks, I checked the daydream feature under display setting and it is off. So this is something else. Any other ideas?

It sounds like it's in some type of demo mode. I've never seen what you're describing including the first time I turned it on out-of-the-box. Did you buy it open-box or as a former floor model? You might want to try a hard reset and see if it's still there afterward.
It is using it as a screen saver. Set wallpaper. lock screen - and change/stop it...
Check under device administrators too
I think changing screen saver might have been the way to go and would probably have fixed it (though I don't know). But I did a hard reset and all is now right with the world. Thanks for all of your help guys. I appreciate it
