None of the Froyo ROM's have camera support. Now if you flash a stock 2.1 Rom then you will.
HTC has not released the drivers for the camera and 2.2 AFAIK.

Why are you rooting a "work" phone? You don't have many options except for going back to a stock rom or one that has a working camera.

Because I want to? It can be unrooted, correct?
I've been looking at trying out Jager 1.7 until cyanogenmod works.
cm 5.0.8 is stock 2.1 it is good. all thwt is broken is camcordr.

My suggestion is just stick to stock rom (for now till 2.2 is released) and use all the other fun features of root!

Hello every one
I have a HTC Desire, I have goggled about the new update to android 2.3 and I found a lot of people getting very angry about the delaying of this update
I am just wondering ....about the benefits of this update and the differences that it will bring to the phone?
And also for the rooted phone can I update using the normal way?
(i.e setting>about phone>System software update) I heard that this way will make me lose my root or may break my phone.
Or is it better to wait for the custom room? does it deference from the original update? and which is better?
Sorry for the many Question as I am new in this stuff

You can't update rooted phone OTA (System software update),
but I think custom ROMs will be still ahead (e.g. with Sense 2.1/3.0 stuff), even if HTC releases 2.3
some bugfixes for a start.
they say that GB is faster than FroYo too.
but they finally fixed the mail app for a start so it will set up with hotmail EAS which is nice.
And they fix bug in google calendar, contacts and picasa they found out on froyo and other versions of android except GB, that some informations are send through wi-fi un-encripted and that brings user in danger.

But the main downside is crappy battery. Well thats for my phone

Battery life is much improved with 2.3 for me anyway.
When the phone is idle it doesn't use as much power as Froyo did.
To be honest, if you're happy enough to root I would just go ahead and try a 2.3 rom. LeeDroid is super stable.
Not only that but midmost of the popular roms will get updates regularly and have great support.

But if I install the new custom ROMs 2.3. Does this mean that I am running Android 2.3 ?
i.e if some application required android vesrion 2.3, can I run this application on this custom ROMs or not ?

One can update a rooted phone with an ota (over the air) update, but one will loose root excess.
I hope I'd get mobile data working again. It freezes all the time when dropping from H to 3G. upload arrow just freezes on and radio doesn't respond for a while.
This appeared after previous smaller update during winter.
Hi together,
here is the latest (checked: 28.11.2013) Samsung-Stock-ROM (EUR, Germany)) from December 2012
I8150XXLMI_I8150DBTLL1_I8150XXLMI_HOME.tar.md5
(packed to *.zip-archive, so unpack before flashing with ODIN)
Its directly extracted from the temporary folder of KIES.
Hope this helps people when there is need to reset to stock.

It's simply the latest one - i recently flashed back to stock because of an warranty-issue, and i found it hard to find out which of those dozens of circulating ROMs was the newest one.
Sure nothing major has changed compares to the out-of-the-box-rom, but i guess most people that go back to stock / need to go back like to choose the newest one.

I found 4.0 to be much more fluid, performant and appealing than the Stock-ROM, while the versions 4.1 and above seemed to have lost a noticable piece of agility and responsivness compared to 4.0.
I guess that 4.0 performs really great, only drawback for normal users is the camera, which is still a little bit buggy and sometimes does not work, due to the driver model issues :-/.

Does any of you guys use the VPN function? Can anyone confirm that it works on stock rom? I flashed my phone as soon as I got it and never tried the vpn with 2.3.6, but tried with 4.0, 4.1.2, and 4.2.1 and it doesn't work well in this versions.

Sorry, never used it. But i would also guess that if a ROM does implement it properly, it should be this one.

I'm using this one too before even if it doesn't for my region and nothing really is significant, just some ICS features.
8150XXLM8 or Value Pack stock firmware (update via Samsung Kies) is being rolled-out only in Romania and Slovakia. Made for devices that can’t be upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, this Value Pack includes some ICS-specific features, like Face Unlock, the ability to change font size (in Contacts, Calendar, or Messaging), and the ability to take photos while shooting video.

The provided ROM is the latest one at least in Germany.
I do not know how the rollout for the value pack was made for other european countries, but e.g. in Germany the value pack was alreasy delivered with a previous update.
Hey everyone,
I really like to use CM-Roms or CM-Based Roms, but I don't like the Google Stock Camera.
I've tried some MotoCam versions I've found, but there is no 100% compatible Camera. Does anyone know a fully-working version?

I think it works only on Motorola devices
cm 11, 4.4.3
I have just updated to the lastest CM nightly 11-20140606-NIGHTLY-falcon and it is now at Android version 4.4.3. I'm wondering if it's safe to flash this Motorola Camera package from 4.4.2

Yes, I have tried it and works perfectly.
I'm trying to flash the AT&T Google Play Edition HTC One M8 ROM onto my phone. I'm coming from the CyanogenMod nightlies. I really do love CyanogenMod and all its extra features, but with all the bugs included in the nightlies (which is too be expected) and the lack of BoomSound and HTC's Ultrapixel camera, it seems pointless.
The problem is, after doing a factory reset in ClockWorkMod Recovery, I try to flash the ROM, and it says "Status Error 7." Any idea how to fix this?
I can't really answer your question but I have noticed that error 7 when trying to flash a ROM or two. What I found is that changing to a earlier ROM or redownload the ROM helped me. I had issues with Liquidsmooth and MIUI and waited for a new release of those Roms and it worked. Just a thought.

Whays a very good Lollipop rom that is not CM based? And one that the camera works?
God question ..... the stock camera working .. no third party camera please..
Of course there is like 20 ROM's that aren't CM based with a perfectly working camera, and they are, no where, because they don't exist. If they did, they would more than likely be posted on these forums. You get what you get for lolipop that is currently available or go buy a newer phone with it. There is no hidden ROM's or working camera that no one is not telling only you about. What's on the forum, is what it is.

Hey getochkn. So, for us T999 owners of the S3, we got to wait for a Lollipop update for other S3 variants so it can be ported to our T999.. is this right?

I doubt the S3 will get an official version. No announcements from Samsung AFAIK. CM based or nothing. LiquidSmooth lolipop is pretty good, open camera works or cymera works for me fine.

I think I'll pass on the CM based Lollipop. I'd rather use a KitKat rom with working camera than Lollipop with no cam functionality.
Btw, what do you mean by open camera?
