USB Tethering on netbook 10.04tls
Hi,
Yeah!, this can be done, just plug the supplied USB cable into the netbook and the other end into your Desire, Press "Internet Sharing" when prompted, the netbook will now automatically see the internet connection.
hope this helps.

Its so easy that I missed it first and have to google it

share intenet TO my HD through USB and Activesync?

HI
I'm trying to share internet using the USB cable and activesync, I already configured my internet connection to share it with the new "local area connection" created when the HD is plugged in, but it doesn't work!
and by the way my computer has an IP:192.168.1.X, but the local area connection has an IP:192.168.2.X
really I even don't know if this is possible, but I did it with my old palm then I thought it can be possible.
thanks!
Using usb or bluetooth with activesync will share in automatic the PC internet connection without the need to set internet connection sharing on the pc

htc accessing internet through USB cable

Fellows.
I was digging into the search an could find nothing about it.
I had my excalibur working properly and after a hard reset, I was unable to reactivate this function.
I'm telling about use USB cable to share PC internet connection to HTC. I mean, navigate over the internet (with HTC) using USB cable conection instead of WIFI or GPRS alike.
When I sync my mobile, it automatically disables the WIFI connection, but I can't navigate just through USB connection.
Any thoughts?
thanks

Share internet from laptop to HTC Desire.

Just wondering if its possible to share my internet connection from my laptop to HTC Desire.
Like use my laptop as an access point and share wired connection using Laptop Wi-Fi as i've seen thr are apps for iphone for that.
if your laptop is connected via cable and u have windows (perhaps mac or linux work as well, don know) use ICS http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/xp_ics/
I'm affraid that it is only possible with Windows 7. HTC Desire won't find ad-hoc wifi connection.
If you have Windows 7 installed, try connectify.
Works like charm.
Of course you can try with WiFi router as well.
i wonder if its possible over bluetooth? i dont have wifi so its my only option ;D
if you have a mac, you can do it with the sharing-preferences.
Saw this link...
Use HTC Sync
"After you have installed HTC Sync successfully, please connect the handset to the computer via USB cable then drag the status bar down from the top of the screen. Choose Internet pass-through as the connection type. The handset will now be able to access the internet through the computer's connection."
Hope this helps

Nope, this only applies to the new Desire HD.
Can't be found in the FAQs for the standard Desire.

Connect via USB with PC and download data

Hi,
I had a HTC Touch HD and i just bought a HTC Desire and i'm a noobie in this android stuff.
My question is:
How can i connect to my PC, not with HTCSync but with usb connection only to download data from my PC to my Desire. For example weather, mail account, watch videos from YouTube, etc.
Help me please...
Thanx
If you have it updated to Froyo, it should be no problem just to plug in the USB cable and
choose USB tethering. But why not use the built in WIFI tether, then you can use your
device as a WIFI hotspot, that any computer can connect to. ;-)
I have Android version 2.2 and i plug in the USB cable and choose USB tethering and i can't update weather or mail account or anything else.
What i have to do?
Thanx

[Q] Connect EVO to Wired LAN?

I have poor 3G and 4G reception at my office. Is there a way to use my USB to connect to a wired network? Thanks in advance for any guidance you can provide!
This would only work if you're on one of the newer ROMS that have the " internet pass through" option when you connect your phone this computer....
I pulled this from androidcentral..
1. Make sure your computer is connected to the Internet. Two things to check for your computer’s Internet connection. One, we recommend that you turn off your local network’s firewall. Two, if your computer connects to the Internet via PPP (e.g. Dial UP, xDSL, or VPN), Internet Pass-through will only support TCP protocol.
2. Connect the phone to the computer using the provided USB cable.
3. On the Connect to PC screen, select Internet Pass-through, and then tap Done.
4. On the message window, tap OK.
Edit: also htc sync will have to be installed on the source computer for this to work
Thank you very much for this information. I appreciate your help!
You're welcome, i hope it works for you. I've never tried it, so good luck!
