Hello! I have had my Tilt 2 for a couple weeks now and I love the thing. I want to put a ROM on the guy but i'm running into problems. Couple questions for this. if there is another thread, pls reply the links if u would be so kind
1. Since my drive on my computer won't work, I can't install Activesync 4.5 and when I tried to get it from windows directly, an error message said that it doesn't work with vista. Is there something I can do to get it so i can try to tweak my phone a bit?
2. I was also wondering if there was anything I can do without syncing my phone to my comp and without a rom. Like changing the color of the clock for instance. or jus putting the youtube app on the damn slider bar.
3. I'm pretty tired of pushing the power button on my phone or sliding the screen to wake up the thing. How can i change that?
I'm sorry if u see this as a waste of time to answer but I'm still pretty new to this phone. The help will be much appreciated. Thanks a lot!!

Welcome to the forums!
1. Vista and 7 use Windows Mobile Device Center (Google it, and the first link should be the download link from Microsoft). WMDC is the new ActiveSync for the newer Windows OSes. When you get that done, you should be able to sync your phone to your PC.
2. You can change the clock by installing .cab files on your phone. You can search for different clocks in the Apps & Themes sub-forum or just search the whole XDA site.
To install cab files: download a cab file. Plug in your phone to the PC's USB port. Choose Disk Drive Mod on your phone so the PC can see your phone's storage card (only). Drag the cab file anywhere on the SD-card. Disconnect your phone. Using File Explorer on your phone, locate the cab file and press it. Follow the prompts to install. Soft-reset the phone.
3. There are different locking programs out there (such as TouchLockPro) that use the phone's sensors (Accelerometer, light, proximity) to unlock/wake the phone. You could search and check out those lock programs. But, how would you like to wake your phone, anyway?
I hope this helped you!
that helps a lot! thx! one more newb-ish question.... how do i soft reset my phone??

Turn it on/off or press the red reset button (I think the Tilt2 has it behind the battery cover).

Screen Align problem
Me too having the same problem after hard reset
I think its a problem with the latest wm6.1 roms.
Align must be a bit "off" to work...although I havent found a pattern yet...
Download PHM RegEdit, install and create/modify this registry key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\TOUCH]
"CalibrationData"="501,489 781,231 778,770 232,759 232,225"
These should work quite OK

You guys walking around one main problem.
Touchsreen of your phone appears to be broken, when allign test is not passed its becames by fault of touchscreen. Doesnt matter what firmware do you use. Its just warrancy repair, if you have it. Mostly is replacing of touchscreen.
Donst listen to advises to pass this test is hardware fault.

hi, "welcome.not" worked for my samsung sgh-i780 very good.
I could start my phone without any alignment, but i'm sure, that in near future i will need to change touch screen.

Thanks for this tip. Now I can use my phone till the touchscreen is replaced/repaired.
Yeap "welcome.not" worked for me. i connect the device with windows device center since i am using windows 7 . then i naviagte to the root folder of the phone and put a blank welcome.not file and reboot it starts with out asking the align screen and now my phone is working fine. no need of the touch since i have a full qwerty key and a senser mouse. thank you so much.
No way, it must work. It shouln't have 2 extensions 4 example : welcome.not.txt or similar. It should be just WELCOME.NOT.
@au22ru
It's not necessary to copying to root AND root of sd, it could be one root, but i preffer to have this file on sd, because after flash root of internal memory is deleted.
@yonylove
check the attachment. Unzip and copy to your sd.

hi heineken,
This thread started 2 years ago, but is still relevant for people like me..
My i780 also have TS problem.. at first, it started small only. Align Screen takes about 5x before it aligns, works for awhile, then misalign again. Then I Align again, maybe takes 10x now, work for a while, then not work again. I even re-Flashed ROM.
Now, I try to align it I must have tried tapping crosshairs 100x already, wont get aligned. And I cant quit the Alignment screen so I take out the battery to power off then on again.
From what I understand,
#1.. TS is now broken, Hardware (Screen) problem? no other fix, as you say above?
#2.. This "Welcome.not" solution at first gave me hope.. I thought there is simple fix, until I understand it now.. I think now if I REFLASH Rom, the phone will first ask you to Align Screen and since i cant, Ill be stuck there forever, right? Even if I take out the battery?
Therefore as long as my TS is broken, I SHOULD NOT REFLASH or I will be stuck? Am I right? And if I do get stuck then the solution is "Welcome.Not". (At least there's a way out) Did I get it?
I can still use mouse and keyboard, but Im not happy because I have lots of apps that use TS. Like GPS software when Im driving, as well as many games. It even makes swiping or reading sms hard with defective TS.
Fortinately, I think I may have a solution for me.
I still have that old bricked i780 (dead) somewhere. I bought a replacement and this one Im using now has the defective TS. (Maybe because I buy it 2nd hand.. although it was working fine the first few months)
QUESTION: Can I take the dead i780 to a celphone technician and ask him to replace the TS panel on my current one? That should work, yes? Problem is many celphone technicians are not familiar with the i780 model, but they work with a lot of Touchscreen phones. This should be easy for them to do and it should work, yes? (unless it is a chip issue or something more technical)
The reason Im asking for advice is I want to be careful now who I allow to open up my phone and mess with it. I suspect the last time maybe my 1st phone could still be revived properly but I showed it to many technicians maybe along the way someone permanently killed it.
Thanks for any advice!
My Dash started acting up the other day and I am hoping someone here can help.
It is responding very slowly to most key presses, sometimes taking 5-10 minutes to, say, open a folder or bring up a settings screen. Sometimes they don't come up at all and it appears frozen, requiring a "yank the battery" reset procedure.
ActiveSync on both home and work PC's detects the device but cannot connect to it.
On bootup, the Windows Mobile splash will be displayed much longer than it used to (3 - 4 minutes) before I finally get a desktop.
The time on the main (top) sliding panel is often the last to (slowly) appear on the display when "waking up".
Email has stopped working in and out. I can receive calls, and Bluetooth is working, but often the ringer will continue for 5 -10 seconds after I answer, and transferring calls to my headset takes about 5 - 10 seconds after that.
Sometimes, settings changes won't "take" and will reset themselves back to their previous values.
Hard resets haven't helped, and nothing seems changed after them, which is odd.
The only thing I have changed recently is I installed the ODSHOW weather thing a few weeks ago (which seriously fubar'd my phone and it was all I could do to get the "normal" top panel back) as far as I know it's uninstalled now.
And all of this started happening after the battery had run completely down and the phone shut itself off. I have already tried another battery and the behavior hasn't changed.
I would love to flash it as I think the problem is the O/S is hosed, but is that possible without being able to connect to a PC through ActiveSync? Say, by copying the ROM package to the SD card and running it from there?
I am running RickyWatts/Kavana's WM 6.1 ROM, btw.
Many thanks if you have any suggestions.

Here's what you do.Turn the phone off, holding the camera button down for about 10 seconds , plug the usb cable that should give you the bootloader screen, you can get the official tmo 6.0 on there, it has to be an official rom. Once you got the phone with the 6.0 running, set up active sync and then flash which ever 6.1 rom you want. Good luck.
Here's the link for the official 6.0 rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=381726&highlight=official+roms
Her's the 6.1 rom link. I recomend V24 w/opera http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3315417&postcount=1
Thanks rolo. Let me make sure I have this:
1) Turn off the phone while holding down the camera button for about ten seconds.
2)Release the camera button and plug in the USB cable. Bootloader screen will appear.
3) From the bootloader screen I can put the TMO ROM on.
Is that correct?
Thanks again!

No!
1. Turn off phone
2. after phone's off, press and hold the camera button.
3. after holding it for about 10 seconds, plug the usb like you're gonna use active sync.
4.That will give you the bootloader screen, and you can now install official 6.0.
5. after you got 6.0 set. set up active sync.
6. I would wait about 10 or 15 minutes, then flash 6.1

Ah! Ok, now I have it in bootloader mode. Thanks.
I d/l'd the Official TMO_1.22.531.6 file and unpacked it, but the 40 MB RAR file contains only a 60 KB(?) file named RUU_signed.nbh
What do I do with that?

the phone should recognize the 6.0 rom update. If it doesn't, unpack it again, wait until the screen ask you if you did everything to establish connection, click next and attempt the bootloader sequence again.
ah-HA!! I did it! Officially un-bricked! I downloaded the latest ROM for the T-Mobile site.
ActiveSync now works, I can receive Outlook email, and have even paired up my Aliph Jawbone via Bluetooth! Thanks so much Rolo!! You rock, dude!
I think I might wait a bit before flashing a custom ROM. I'd like to have sliding panels and such, but I'm not in a hurry.

Yep, you need the official rom that the phone used from factory. Check for your rom on the official rom thread on the sticky. You might want to pm profezza and ask him if the O2 XDA Cosmo, Orange SPV E600 and the Rogers HTC S621 use the same rom. If they do, he has your official rom there.
I need to install stock Hard SPL but my screen doesn't work. I need to press OK in order to install stock SPL on the screen but TP2 is missing tab and arrows won't work as well. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
You don't need to click OK instal SPL, its automatic, all you do it from is your computer.

Fix your screen? A touch screen phone is going to be pretty useless without a working touch screen.

That is why I'm asking how to install stock hard spl to bypass confirmation for warranty reason.
Why not connect it to your PC and use one of the many PC apps that can control the TP2? I use Soti Pocket Controller but there are many others and some are free. Good luck.
I wonder if you can just do a reset? Push the button inside the battery cover.

I thought about the same idea in the first place but as you know in order to install any kind of application on TP2 you must click the same damn OK, and without touch screen or tab on the keyboard is a problem.

Nope, just the same as you can't click on Start menu using keyboard arrows.
your keyboard doesn't have an "Ok" button?
if it makes you feel better i've warranty exchanged 3 devices which were hard spl'd, only flashed stock rom and returned it. Was never billed for the devices.
actually, one of the devices the screen went white and couldn't do anything so i exchanged it with a custom rom and hardspl. all the devices were on At&t.
also isn't there a way to install the stock spl from bootloader where u don't need to use the touch screen? not sure but i vaguely remember doing this on a the original tilt.
best of luck.
Enter button acts as ok or action button is some applications. Have you try that?
A few hours ago i was browsing the xda portal when i found a thread about someone booting win 95 on his HTC Himalaya.... so i found it a little bit interesting so i want to try it out myself..... just few minutes later i googled some info and find out that need to increase my screen resolution by nyditot virtual display software....then i just download the trial version of it and try it on my BA.....however, my device wont pass the tricolor bootscreen(first one that is) and it just freeze there.....so i tried to remove the battery and luckily my device boot normally afterwards...dammit that app...so i go to settings and remove that sh**ty app..after that, i power off my device and put it into the cradle to charge it..my ba lights up as it detect the charging...but i just saw a white screen instead of a display...it shocked me and the first thing that i do was to soft reset it...however, after soft reset,i tried to power off and power on my phone..then the same as before a white screen,,,i also tried setting the screen to blank by using core player options... the screen didn't went blank as if it was powered off...but it seems that i can still see the display like just the backlight is turned out...however touching the screen wont do anyting....i need help asap as i need to use my device to finish my assignments...well the only possible solution that i'm seeing right now is just a hard reset...but i dont want that..recently just got everything working on my BA(wi-fi, mms, psx games, etc that i dont want to lose)help me , please.....

Well, uninstalling nydiots might have messed some drivers up. Sorry to tell you this, but I think that your only option will be hard reset. BTW, I edited your post a bit... watch the language we have kids around the site, you know?
yeah, sorry bout that....i was really upset that time....but now i've found a solution....luckily i dont need to do a hard reset...i reinstall the application again(nothing much to lose...)and realised that in the application folder there was a shortcut named "vd restore"(what else should that mean...)used that and viola, everything was back to normal...then, later, i downloaded nyditot vd the latest version and it worked....just that it was too slow maybe because of the scaling...and titanium wont work...maybe it need it's own cpr....so i want to request anyone here who have it, vga titanium .cpr file please post it for me....will continue to explore what i can do with this application...and btw, thanks mr.egzthunder1 for replying....

Hello I was wondering if someone could help with this question
I just got my hd7 and I am having the hardest time trying to download app from the market place. Is there s trick to this? It not like the hd2 were you just go to the market and download a app then you just open it and you can preview your downloaded apps as well
Do I need my PC to download the apps if so that does not make sense why can't I just download them right from my device.
Thanks for any help on this
If you are connected to Wifi, it should work just fine. Apparently there is a limit on file size if you are using the cellphone data network.
It could also be that the market place is having issues. For example, one time it just didn't show a price and the buy button. I had to do a soft reset.
Thank you for replying I have try WiFi its turns off don't know why
Then I can't find anything I download I have a hd2 so using this device is not new
How do you soft reset the HD7 thank your
Soft reset just means restarting the phone. Hold the power button and the screen should eventually say "Goodbye". After the disappears, press the power button to turn it on.
you can also sync with usb and then go to marketplace in the zune software and download the apps you like.
Ok I was playing around with Zune but still practice there are not many free zoos to choose from. Thanks so much for your help
