PRL 60668 - safe for rooted EVOs? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm pretty sure PRL updates are always harmless but just want to make sure.

You are correct. if you have your MSL you can always change back.

Thank you. Should I update profile as well? If so, which first?

I believe your profile just updates your internet settings like username password. You are safe to update the profiles without losing root. The only thing is a OTA update, dont do that.

Thanks again!

How to stop auto PRL update ?

Does anyone know how to keep my prl from auto updating ? I was using 01337.prl from techknowfile's thread and somehow my prl got updated to 60669 when i went to 2.2 froyo...Since #775 doesnt work anymore, I had to go back to a 1.47 rom and change the prl
There are a few threads that say you can use CDMA workshop demo to change it back. I am not sure about preventing the update

I need SERIOUS help...

I am having some serious issues getting the Internet and MMS working on a Flashed EVO 4G. It is flashed to MetroPCS.
I have 2 Evos. One of them (mine) has Internet and MMS working great as per tutorial. The only thing I noticed was that when I got my Evo, the 1x sign would show, but the internet would not work.. After following JD's tutorial, everything works great.
On the other Evo (my girlfriend's) there is no 1x or any type of symbol. No internet whatsoever. I have followed every guide on here and it still does not work. I have followed the provisioning guide, and all other guides with no success. No matter what I do, or what I change, still no internet.
While following tutorials, I ran into these issues:
When I go to whiterabbit.org, and I enter the MEID, I get an MSL Code... but if I enter the 8 digit ESN shown in the top of the QPST window by MEID, I get a DIFFERENT MSL CODE? Is this normal?
Also, after clicking WRITE TO PHONE in QPST, I get an error that says NV Item Read Only...
I have also tried ##sctrn# and reset the data, and then redid the provisioning, but NOTHING.
When I go to settings, the mobile data box is checked, but then if I uncheck and recheck it, it will get stuck at "enabling"
So you can see from my above stated issues, that I really need help... Please help me out someone...
Sounds like the device is not provisioned correctly. I would recommended doing a ##scrtn and retriggering the provisioning.
As for espt I suggest a sense 1.0 rom
Flashing radios will not break the flash only flashing a different hboot would.

Have you tried reading this? I don't have metropcs, just trying to help
Here's a rom specifically for metro

That is because ##scrtn is not editable.. Hit reset then enter your msl. After your phone reboots call the activation number (usually *228, yours may vary) or update profile under about phone.

If I reset and dial *228, won't I lose service? It is flashed to MetroPCS and I don't think they can provision it...

Im not sure how MetroPcs handles HFA, but with Cricket after a reset I can dial *228 or update profile and it reprograms the device.

Wait do I need autostart.sh and u2nl and all that?
Im sorry but this is now over my head. I know the basics about flashing to a different carrier.
My next suggestion is to contact the OP of a flash your evo to metropcs thread.

I've done that. My issue is that when I "provision" as per guide or as you said, it changes the settings but still the internet does not engage... no 1x or anything.
Just because I've had a stubborn phone or two in my day. Try flashing hBoot twice. Back to back. Also try new copies of your files. And verify checksums if possible too. Sounds like you may have a slight corruption or a mis-written byte somewhere. Just my two cents.

There is a sticky in the General Sub-forum that covers this in detail. Please go over there.
Appreciate it... never realized how good we have it on tmo lol
tell him accept the update, when it tries to go into the stock recovery, the update will fail and all will be good

Read my FAQ, that doesnt work for all
Random times it'll go through and random times it'll fail
@OP
Best advice now that he already took the official update would be to just reroot (same rooting method as for LJ7) and start fresh

Ah ok then, go into google frameworks (in Settings > All Apps) then clear data
Then go into /cache and delete any update files still there and reboot
EDIT: Is he on MA6 OR MB1 now?
If hes on MA6 I would just go into the build.prop and replace all instances of MA6 with "MB1" then save and reboot and no more OTA notification

Also, for your tmobile roms do you know how they prevent it? Do they just turn off checking in with google, or remove the update app? Would be good to know so I can update my FAQ haha

Well I know our roms all have custom build.prop and it looks like you have to edit yours after the fact. Am I wrong?

[Q] I need Help Rooting my Samsung Galaxy III t999 d2tmo

My usb port on my phone needs to be replaced. I am unable to root with framaroot- no exploit that works. Towel root will not install. Is there any other way to root without connecting to a pc?
No I don't think so. What do you mean towelroot will not install? Can you be more specific?

I am attempting to Edit to APN via Settings> More Networks>mobile networks>Access Point Names.
The one that has been there is greyed out and I cannot edit it. I added a new one with the correct data but the system seems to default to the old one automatically.

Well root isn't going to magically fix things like this. You're gonna have to do more than that. I think you may need to edit the apns-conf.xml file in system/etc
I need to educate myself. I downloaded an apn app, but it won't run.
Thank you for helping.
