I am having some serious issues getting the Internet and MMS working on a Flashed EVO 4G. It is flashed to MetroPCS.
I have 2 Evos. One of them (mine) has Internet and MMS working great as per tutorial. The only thing I noticed was that when I got my Evo, the 1x sign would show, but the internet would not work.. After following JD's tutorial, everything works great.
On the other Evo (my girlfriend's) there is no 1x or any type of symbol. No internet whatsoever. I have followed every guide on here and it still does not work. I have followed the provisioning guide, and all other guides with no success. No matter what I do, or what I change, still no internet.
While following tutorials, I ran into these issues:
When I go to whiterabbit.org, and I enter the MEID, I get an MSL Code... but if I enter the 8 digit ESN shown in the top of the QPST window by MEID, I get a DIFFERENT MSL CODE? Is this normal?
Also, after clicking WRITE TO PHONE in QPST, I get an error that says NV Item Read Only...
I have also tried ##sctrn# and reset the data, and then redid the provisioning, but NOTHING.
When I go to settings, the mobile data box is checked, but then if I uncheck and recheck it, it will get stuck at "enabling"
So you can see from my above stated issues, that I really need help... Please help me out someone...
Sounds like the device is not provisioned correctly. I would recommended doing a ##scrtn and retriggering the provisioning.
As for espt I suggest a sense 1.0 rom
Flashing radios will not break the flash only flashing a different hboot would.

That is because ##scrtn is not editable.. Hit reset then enter your msl. After your phone reboots call the activation number (usually *228, yours may vary) or update profile under about phone.

Im sorry but this is now over my head. I know the basics about flashing to a different carrier.
My next suggestion is to contact the OP of a flash your evo to metropcs thread.

I've done that. My issue is that when I "provision" as per guide or as you said, it changes the settings but still the internet does not engage... no 1x or anything.
Just because I've had a stubborn phone or two in my day. Try flashing hBoot twice. Back to back. Also try new copies of your files. And verify checksums if possible too. Sounds like you may have a slight corruption or a mis-written byte somewhere. Just my two cents.

This happened to me when flashing the leak on a buddy's device. I had to reinsert the pst settings because they were all wiped to crazy ****. Enter your EPST by going to the keypad and dialing ##pst ->send. The NAM settings should be as follows:
MDN - you phone#
MIN1 - your phone # without area code
Min2 - area code
MSID - your phone number
Hope this helps.
I have this problem too but the thing I cannot find is a working froyo EPST on CM.

Hello,
My phone recently lost 3G and data with the error code 67. Registration Failure. Your PCS Vision username and/or password maybe incorrect. Please try againg.
I got this message a while ago when I tried a tweak that "improved my cellphone internet speed" by changing the PRL. But insted gave me this error and the loss of 3G and data. I fixed it by manually changing the PRL trough recovery (updating prl dint work because i had no data). All was good, and once againg without doing anything this error comes up and I dont have 3G or data, I only recive calls but cant make em, i get redirected into sprint payment or something wich i dont owe anything. I notice my PRI (Not PRL) version was 1.7 or something i changed it to 1.90 but nothing. Oh and before this happened I noticed that Car Panel aplication was turning on by it self.
Android Version: 2.2
ROM: Koni's ELITE Series III
Recovery: Clockwork Mod v2.6.0.1
Any help would be great.
Any help will be greatly appreciated since I use this phone for my work XD, Thanks.
Are you sure sprint didn't put a lock on you acct
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I'm sure my account is a family one, and if they did all my family's phone would be locked.
I guess im going to have to do a hard reset.
Don't know how it could've happened by accident but I had the same thing when my MSID and MDN were wrong. Try this:
##{yourMSL}#, edit, enter the correct MDN and MSID, commit modifications. Then update profile.
If still nothing then try:
##3282#, edit, enter MSL, data settings, menu, restore. The phone will reboot into "hands free activation" and you could let it run.
How this helps
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
BTW if that doesn't work don't do a hard reset while rooted. Unroot and go back to stock first. You will have to redo your MSID and MDN after a hard reset as well

Ok, I dont know whats MDN and MSID and lesss I know what are the correct ones for me, sorry Im a noob to this stuff.
Oh and im still getting the error after unroot/stock.
And I tried already the restore but it get stucks at "hands free activation" for ever with the error code 67 poping all the time.
I guess de MDN is my phone number cus thats what it was writen, but the MSID was a different number i changed it to mine but it dint do anything I guess il change it back to the number it was.

ok so mdn is mobile directory number or your cell phone number. msid is your connection to sprint. you need to call into to sprint and tell them that you got that error code. they will then have you go through the manual programming that was stated before. when doing this write down your msid and you lock code or msl.
You said your on a family plan... if you have another phone that was activated at the same time for the same area it will have the same MSID. You might find it on the other phone under menu, settings, about. Or, of its an HTC phone you can ##3282#, view, and see the MSID there.

what method did you use to root? if you used unrevoked then you have to flash the unrevoked S-On tool then RUU back to stock...but if you have already ran the RUU then it doesnt really matter
if you have insurance, my suggestion would be to just have sprint replace the phone

Don't take in your phone with s-off!!!
If it still says s-off then you're still rooted and they may tell you you're SOL.
After I had my evo flashed to a different carrier then flashed it back to Sprint my Evo misbehaved the same as you're describing. Basically what I did was completely wipe and reset the phone back to stock the way it was at the Sprint store before I bought it. Then manually programmed the MSID and MDN and let it go through hands-free activation just like they did when I bought it. That's basically what I described doing. Don't waste $50 on insurance.
Redo the instructions from the same guide you referenced making sure you did it as described using the Unrevoked S-On Tool and
PC36IMG. If you used another method to root I got nothing. You'll have to google.
Now that you're back to stock go ahead and do a hard reset. I had first tried the hard reset while rooted and it retained many settings. Get it s-on first THEN do your hard reset. This will clear ALL the settings including your MDN and MSID which you can program in and follow with ##3282... like I described before. Your phone will contact the network and update all the correct settings when it goes into "hands free activation", update profile, check for prl and firmware updates all on its own. Just let it do it's thing.
Post back on where you're at.
Well idk what i used was so long ago, unrevoked is fairly new i think so its not the one i used. Going to try what Untrue told me. will post back
First try, trying to get into recovery threw me a droid picture with red exclamation...
Will keep trying...
Recovery not working evo picture with red exclamation
Hmmm what now lol

I used the method mentioned by drock to successfully get my IMEI back (with LTE). I also had some issues with signal strength but I somehow managed to fix it, however I don't recall exactly how.
You can try:
1. To wait (maybe an hour or so), sometimes it can take time for the network, do a few reboots.
2. To delete the current LTE APN and enter the APN settings in manually, reboot.
Go back to the thread you were linked to and read post 3. There are instructions on how to regain data beyond edge/2g
So I have a Telus I747M (Canadian) and I used ROM Manager to get CWM 6 on my phone. The thing is that I chose the Metro PCs version and I installed it. Now I have no signal at all. I flashed the firmware back to the stock telus one via USB and Odin. Still no service, anything to do now?

If your IMEI shows 0, no amount of flashing will help you. You must restore you IMEI to have data working again. If you backed up your IMEI or EFS folder your set, just restore it.

I am in the same boat. Slow connection, rarely actually works. Had lost my imei, but restored it with the NV whatever.. Saved my QCN using QPST, then tried to use QCN restorer app, and am getting an error occurred blah blah.
I brought it in to AT&T yesterday, had a full restore completed and new sim card installed... no luck. guess i will keep trying stuff until its either bricked or back to normal haha
At the moment this mod is not sticking after a reboot. I'll keep working on it to see if it can be fixed.
This mod will enable your I747 or I747M to connect to Tmobile's AWS 1700 band. You are doing this at your own risk, and none of the parties involved with creating this mod are responsible for any negative results you might have. If for some reason something does go wrong please post in this thread, and I'm sure plenty of people will be willing to help out. Follow the instructions and enjoy!
SETUP
1. Download one of the NV Data backup files from one of the links below. (Mirrors are welcome if you want to add one.) Thanks to MotoDefier for supplying and editing the T999L backup.
2. Download and install: QPST v2.7.378.zip Thanks to lyriquidperfection for keeping this handy and giving me an already great guide to quote.
3. Dial *#7284# on your phone to access PhoneUtil and select 'Qualcomm USB Settings' at the bottom. Now select 'RNDIS + DM + MODEM' and press 'OK' to return to the previous screen. Now press your 'Back' key to exit PhoneUtil. Your phone is now in DIAG Mode.
4. Connect your phone to your computer via USB.
5. Start "QPST Configuration" and select the "Ports" tab. Then click on "Add New Port".
6. Select the COM Port that has "USB/QC Diagnostic" next to it and click ok. You should now see your phone in the "Ports" tab.
7. Click the "Start Clients" menu at the top and choose "Software download". QPST software download application should open.
NV DATA BACKUP
1. In QPST Software Download select the "Backup" tab.
2.Press the "Browse" button next to the QCN file pull down and choose a save location for your backup file.
3.Press the "Start" button and wait for it to finish. Once it's done you'll have a backup of your phone's NV Data and IMEI.
Write NV Data
1. In QPST Software Download select the "Restore" tab.
2. Press the "Browse" button next to the QCN file pull down and locate the NV backup you downloaded in the setup section.
3. Press the "Start" button and wait for it to finish. If QPST says that it failed to restart your device just reboot it yourself manually.
4. That's it! You're done!
Restore USB Settings after Backup / Restore:
Dial *#7284# on your phone to access PhoneUtil and select 'Qualcomm USB Settings' at the bottom. Now select 'MTP + ADB' and press 'OK' to return to the previous screen. Now press your 'Back' key to exit PhoneUtil. Your phone is now back to default USB operation.
If you'd like to make sure you are able to use the 1700 band.
1. In your dialer press *#2263# (*#BAND#)
2. Press WCDMA Band Preference then WCDMA 1700.
3. Press the menu key and then select back. You should have an asterisk next to WCDMA 1700 now, and after a few seconds your data connection should start on that band. Enjoy!
4. To revert to full bandwidth: Press the menu key, select back, and then in the service mode menu select automatic.
DOWNLOADS

DocHoliday77 (Thank you for letting us muck up your awesome T999L thread while we worked this out! Sorry about that!)
Product F(RED) (For sharing this idea)
athlonxp2300 (For getting the ball rolling)
achmedkb01 (For his NV file)
lyriquidperfection )For already having a great QPST guide that helped me write this one, and hosting the QPST download)
sjravi (For starting this with his Note 2 thread and answering my questions about editing the QCN file)
Pat on the back to myself for only mispelling 1 word in this whole op.
Mine!
Got it!
Let me know if I missed anything!
Thanks everyone for their involvement on this mod and of course the op for taking his/her time to write this guide.
PS: any advantage of using one backup or the other ?

You're welcome!
They're both the exact same file. MotoDefier wasn't sure if he'd keep his up very long, and you never know if and when Dev-host will shut one down for having too many downloads. The more mirrors, the merrier...
Whoops! Wrong button! Nevermind....
Thanks to everyone working on this and the guide. I have a couple of questions. This requires a stock touchwiz rom? The other threads leading up to this one says yes but I didn't see anything mentioned in the guide. I have a unlocked phone via a code from AT&T customer support. Should the unlock remain intact after the qcn restore is done? These might be stupid questions but it's safer to ask now than be sorry later. Cheers.

Stock Rom? I don't think so... Although, I think I've read in similar threads that having a stock dialer is important for the ussd code that lets you get to Qualcomm settings. Good catch! I'll have to look that up and add it to the op. I'm pretty sure there's an app you can dl for a workaround. Both phones I did this on were running rooted stock, so I didn't think about it.
You should not lose your unlock. I unlocked with this method and did not lose it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2176721
If somehow it goes away, the above method has worked for me 4 out of 4 times already on 4 different phones.

First, yes stock rom is required, or at least one with the dialer codes in it which are touchwiz roms. Not being as familiar with samsung touchwiz I could not tell you if there are roms based on it that would still have the dialer codes.
Second this will not change the sim lock statues of the phone, I am glad that you linked to the unlock thread though, might want to add it to the OP because really if you want to do this mod its because you want to run on tmo right?

I think some i747M owners owe some bounty to moto and upncoming. Maybe a little to product f(red) for suggesting it too.
Thanks for your work! And taking the risk. I'll try tomorrow.
Edit... sorry I meant to post this in the original thread.
What if I want to install a non tw rom like cm10.1? Will the nv settings remain intact?

As long as your not flashing a modem, and most roms do not have a modem included, there should be no problem, it should stick after the new rom is running.
I dont have mine yet to do testing but I like stock like roms, such as cm roms, so I will be testing this extensively when my phone gets here, probably wed.

Op should probably be updated to reflect it too.

Is it just me or is the mod wiping after reboot?
Someone please verify this.

I'm testing this right now, and I'm afraid you might be right.... I'll work on it and see what I can see.

Same here...
The first reboot after the nv flash was good. Second reboot lost it. This might also explain why some were having problems trying to flash other roms.
I updated the op. I'll try working on it later to see if it can be fixed.

hmm, I can not wait for my phone to get here so I can test it out.
By the way I can host a mirror of that .qcn file if you want to add it to the first post, but be warned this is just on my home server and is subject to going down at the wim of well anything, loss of power at home internet outage, what ever, though the server is running 24/7 so it should be good.
