Similar question along the same line but a bit different...
I did the OTA update and have been using unrevoked to run my root apps (was waiting for more roms to become available)...
Do i just follow toasts method, OR do i have to revert to the original RUU before the OTA and THEN follow toasts?
just try it, it's really easy.

I appreciate the comments, how ever I have rooted my phone prior to this and I know for sure I can't root my phone right now for some extrange reason. It doesn't see the pcm file on my SD card. Is it maybe becaus my SD is not the original?
My original SD card died and I was not able to use it anymore, extrange

New Evo w/pre-installed update

I just got a new Evo that had the 2nd update pre-installed. Do I have to revert back to the original ROM before attempting to root?
Sorry dude, frankly put your screwed until they figure out a way to undo the lock that HTC put on it.
I did the OTA when I got home without thinking, and BAM, no root for me.

That thread makes the assumption of already being rooted, this person has the 1.47 OTA installed already, so at this point there does not seem to be a way to root it.
Someone posted a tweet from unrevoked in the thread dealing with this, saying the might have something no ETA though. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7042722&postcount=148
I meant that I had the 2nd RUU, i.e. the one ending in .6, i do not have 1.47. Im trying to root using toast's method without downgrading to .1, ill let you know.

You should be fine with ending .6. I got my replacement today with .6 and I'm able to root Toast method without a problem. Enjoy!!!

[Q] rooting: finding the correct guide?

Hi
I am sure someone has already asked.. but haven't found an answer yet.. will keep searching though..
I am trying to find the 'correct' guide to rooting my desire..
I've looked through a lot of guides from a lot of sites.. and all are old... older.. like this summer, or older..
Some mention having to install Hboot, some say.. you don't need to..
some want you to use unrevoked, some say you shouldn't...
Is there a guide that is updated? that actually works right off the bat?
I am a total rooting newb.. I've read about it.. but still standing at the bottom of the ladder..
Hoping someone can guide me... !
You should use the unrevoked method.
Do a search on xda, I don't think the process has changed in the last few months.

As mikep99 said, check the unrevoked method.

[Q] How to root with the new update

So I just got a Droid Incredible and I am trying to root and install the cyanogen mod on it. I tried rooting with unrevoked 3 but it said the firmwas too new. I looked at other ways to root with the newest build 6.08.605.19 710RD but there are none. There were some that talked about going from 2.3.4 to 2.2 and then rooting but that seems very involved and it doesn't work a lot. Is there anything else out there that I am missing? Could I use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2141642 in the way I want to?
Follow this guide. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1506258
Thank you!
