All Apps on SDCard - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All
I have a question, I downloaded some apps from the market yesterday, but not all of them are happy to be exported to the SDCard. I am running Mondaco's ROM at the moment, and some programs seem happy to be moved to the SDCard, but the majority are not!
Anything I can do from my part?
Thanks for your help

which "Modacos Rom" MCR Desire , or Froyo, or Stock?

DONUT available - need to update NOW?

Hello devs,
I have red that Donut has been released.
HTC has released its update. I have already updated my Hero. Because there is no Java, I want to install Modaco's ROM.
My question is: can I expect a donut-release in a short time?
If so, then I will wait updating to Modaco, because of losing all data.
if you are just missing the java implementation i would recommend you this Thread or rather the way that worked for me Link
What update are you talking about from HTC? build 2.73.405.5 is still 1.5 (cupcake). I'm a little confused.
The sdk for donut has been released. Sure that the firmware is on course for its October release.

This is what confuses me. He says he already updated his Hero. The SDK is released, not the firmware..correct?

yes thats correct
He's just saying he installed the official HTC update that MoDaCo leaked a few weeks ago. Now he wants to go MoDaCo (perhaps because it's prerooted, installs apps on the sd and so on). He is just wondering whether it's a good idea, if 1.6 is released very soon.
No, 1.6 will not be released very soon (at least not as a HTC Hero Rom), so go ahead and flash with MoDaCo, if you feel you need it. Your phone won't get much faster than with the official update, but at least you'll have something to play around with.
just a quick question, i have MoDaCo rom installed on my hero and if i download the HTC official update would i lose root? and will android 1.6 can be download as a custom rom?
by the way:
what does leaked mean in this context? is it really some kind of "ripped" or how do we have to understand this?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'd assume someone working for HTC or testing the ROM put the files online.

That would be the definition of leaked, yes, which is probably how we got this ROM pre official release.

Sorry if this sounds very noobish, but how do you install apps to the SD card? I installed a couple of apps after moving to Modaco's Rom, but I do not know how to install them to the SD card instead of the phone's memory. Are they by default installed on the SD card with Modaco's Rom?
Thanks in advance for the clarification.

Dont really want to help you hijack this thread away from the intended purpose, but if you were specifically asking about modaco's rom, next time it might be wise to read or "SEARCH" his thread keywords so that you can find your answer. Indeed there are a few answers in that thread that help you to find out if your apps are installing to SD.
But to answer your question, if your card is partitioned (Fat32,swap,ext3) then your apps will be installed to your sd card by default from Modaco's rom.
Thank you and my apology if I've drifted from the thread subject. Next time, do not answer me if I'm drifting and I'll know where to look somewhere else.
Thanks for your info.
cyanogen has already released the new version, but unfortunately this is not for hero

[Q] HTC Wildfire 2.3 with sense ROM ?

Hi there..yes im a new guy ¬_¬.
So I want to root my wildfire (i know how to do it). The problem is i like HTC Sense and the new version that came for the 2.3 devices, iv'e been looking around for a bit trying to find a Sense rom on 2.3 and have so far failed.
1) Are there any 2.3 Sense ROMs out there for the wildfire?
2) If not are there any themes that mimic Sense for CyanogenMod 7? (I would prefer if the 'people' and 'message' apps looked like sense to because i dont want to open them and find that it look different to sense.) (Also if ii was to do this i presume that i wouldn't be able to keep the HTC widgets so would there be anyway to add them in?)
3)If the above just isn't available id prefer to stay on the stock 2.2.1 sense rom, how could i overclock with it? (i understand it has something to do with replacing a kernel but i don't know how to do this.)
Thank you in advance.
Yes, you are new and you obviously haven't looked properly. -.-
1) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1067868
2) Not possible to get Sense Apps to Non - Sense ROMs like Cyanogenmod
3) Replacing a kernel is the same as installing a ROM. Place kernel Zip on SDCard, Reboot into Clockworkmod Recovery, Select Install Zip from SDCard, select kernel Zip, done.
Well i did look and saw that and was a bit too unfinished for me but thanks anyway.
Looks like i'll probably replace the kernel to overclock and see if anything new will come out or possibly move to CM7.
Don't forget to take a nandroid backup before moving to CM7, so you can easily revert if CM's messaging, contacts, camera app etc dont suit you.

[Q] Current roms

Hi there i want a new rom, but i also want to use titanium backup ive tried a few new roms but tittanium backup doesnt show on them
cheers in advance
did you install it?
no but i can see the files are still there as i have es file explorer and that transfers over when i put a new rom on
Its an app on the market. Some roms choose to add it to the rom, some dont. So its not there because you havemt installed it from the market.
if that was the problem im gonna punch myself in the face for being so stupid!
are there any new roms out for the desire or are developers just doing them for the newer phones?
haha.
Yeah there are always new roms. The desire was voted best phone 2010. Many people still use it. Some have said they may go sim free instead of upgrading. I may do this too. I dont want to let go. The desire has a lot of life in it yet.
Check here for roms:

trying gingervillan 2.8 and it tb was there so gonna see what its like, thanks for the help!

Apps2Sd tutorial for noobs.. CDMA

Ok sooo i have an Htc Desire, obviously, and im kinda new to the whole modding and such not, but i have cyanogen mod 7 *up to date*, clockworkmod, but i have been trying to get Robo's RCMixS forever now and im sure i download it all the way, i downloaded the stock and cm7 because i still don't know the difference... I have rooted with unrevok3d or what ever.. Any Help?
Thanks in advance ,
Mark
If your rom is cyanogenmod it means that your phone is already rooted and you don't need to do it. You can find lots of information in this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696189
About App2sd: this capability is included in most of custom roms by default or they will provide another file which you have to flash it after installing the rom. For canogenmod and some other roms you can use some apps which are available in the market like S2E to do it for you. I am personally using Cyanogenmod 7 with S2E which is work perfect to move the apps to sd card and let me install unlimited number of apps

[Q] Which ROM SuperNova or Revolution 3D?

Have rooted my HTC Desire GSM using the Revolutionary method and was about to look at partitioning my SD card and flashing the SuperNova ROM to give me more room for apps.
But last night I came across the Revolution 3D ROM thread on the site and wondered if this might still give me the extra internal memory but with the benefit of HTC Sense 3. Does anyone know if tamirda is still supporting this ROM.
Alternatively is it likely that the SuperNova ROM might get the Sense 3 treatment at some point.
Thanks
John
At some point, maybe..
Thanks once again Droidzone for the quick reply, will probably go with the SuperNova ROM then and update when (and if).
