I've had my captivate for 1 week and the top glossy part is covered in scratches and small spots. Guess what, it was in the Body Glove case the whole time! Dust and stuff gets trapped underneath the stupid rubber case and then is contained underneath and will happilly move around and scratch the hell out of your beloved device.
Now i'm just going naked with no case and the top of my machine is scratched. I'm pretty upset because this was an ATT case and it was expensive.
Whatever. goes to show there's no perfect case and the best is to go naked OR go with a slip case. But I just wanted to warn the rest of you the body glove case is not that great.
I can attest to your claim, as I also had the AT&T Body Glove case and noticed scratches all along the top rim of the phone. Kinda saddening, but oh well.
Let us weep together brother!
wow thanks for the heads up
I figured that was relatively all cases that formed a tight seal with the phone. I know my Amzer case is the same, as was the case I had for my iPhone. I just make sure I have a screen protector over the screen so that it "scratches" the protector intead of the screen.
Hmm, I've had mine since mid-August, and not nary a mark anywhere on my cappy.
I recently switched from the Body Glove to a TPU case and noticed scratches at the top of my phone too!!! Bummer

I have had my case for 2 monts and no scratches.
i keep my phone in my pocket and work in a dusty enviromenty.
p.s. I have the body glove case
This is why I put a skin on any of my phones before putting it in a case.
I ordered one of those "free" stealth guard skins, despite their reviews, because its cheap and it covers the phone. I'm not gonna put it on 'til Otterbox comes out with their cases, and when I get mine, i'll throw the skin on and then put it in the case. Not concerned with the quality of them (stealth guard) too much especially if its just going to be inside another case. It's more there for the extra protection factor...
I currently don't have anything on the phone at all right now, and have been lucky that there's no scratches or marks *yet* on it...hopefully Obox will get their act together and get the cases out soon, 'cause I can't wait!

The AT&T rep at the store I went to said the cases had a 30 day return policy. I liked my body glove - so I didn't return it.

I bought mine and had it shipped to the UK so not an option.
I had a completely differenet issue with the Body Glove case. When I had it on my captivate it would interfere with my touch inputs. This would only start after having the case on the phone for a few days and then all of a sudden I couldn't type anything and my touch inputs were completely off. As soon as I took the case off it worked like normal again, put the case back on and it still worked normal for a few days again. I just stopped using the case and am waiting for my Zagg total protection
I've got the Ghost Armor skin and it's pretty decent however the corners are peeling away, I've just been lazy and don't want to go back to the mall store to get new corner pieces put on.
Add to that the Verizon Droid X leather case and it's not too bad overall. You can even put the phone back into the droid X case with headphones plugged in.
I've had my Captivate and the Body Glove case from the AT&T store for the last 2-3 days now, no scratches, everything fits perfectly, and no issues at all. I love this case..
oh wow...
i just took off my body glove and the top and bottom of hte phone are scratched up pretty badly
Every few days I take the case off, clean the interior with screen cleaner spray and a lint free cloth. Then I clean the Captivate with a fresh cloth and put it back in the case.
So far no scratches at all.
I don't think this is a case you can just put on and forget about. It fits too tight and sooner or later dirt and grit will get inside and wear away at the phones finish, especially if you put the phone directly in your pocket.
Just clean the interior of the case every few days however and the case works fine.
Ive had the bodyglove case on for well over a month with no issues. I wonder if they recently changed the design or materials they use to manufacture it.
I have no scratches or input issues.

I have scratches on mine too, oh well, it covers it up so I don't really care.
I've had mine on over a month and mine is great w/o any scratches. I've had to take it off a couple times to flash sre. Only problem is that it's a little looser than it was before. Just ordered more tpu cases on ebay.
Mine is too the body glove sucks.

Hi Guys,
I just bought a HTC Aria and am now looking for a case and screen protector. I did go through this entire forum and read to all the posts in regard to the these items. However, I do have some specific questions in regard to these products that I hope someone can answer.
For screen protectors, I was looking at the following:
youtube.com/watch?v=O5FDzVFa-Vk
This protector looks fairly thick, do you think it would affect the screen sensitivity too much? Anyone have an experience with this particular product?
The two cases that I am looking at are:
amazon.com/gp/product/B003TFDIZC/ref=ord_cart_shr?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER
amazon.com/gp/product/B003SNIMZQ/ref=ord_cart_shr?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER
Which of these would be more protective for accidental falls? Personally, I like the design for the first one, but if it does not protect the phone very well then it serves me no purpose.
One of them is an argyle skin case the other is a jelly skin case. What is the difference between the two. I upgraded from a 10 year old prepaid phone. So, do not really have any experience with any type of case/protector.
Thank you.
I have one of each.
The most vulnerable thing to break on this phone is if it falls and lands on a corner or on the front glass in any way, it will shatter the digitizer. I know this from experience.
Both of these cases will protect the glass from an impact either on the edge/corner or for a face drop. They both have a ridge above the edge of the top of the phone so the glass edge is not exposed directly in the event of a drop face first. But the jelly case, while it is sticky and bulky and impedes putting the phone in and out of your pocket, definitely appears to be more shock absorbing than the TPU type cases and I would tend to think it will work better if you drop it.
That being said, I generally don't use any case or cover for my phone. My wife had a nice case on her Evo and one drop shattered it. My friend had a beefy rubber case on his iPhone 3Gs and one drop shattered it. Someone ran over my wife's iPhone in a rubber case with their Yukon XL and it left tire treads on the screen protector and otherwise the phone came out in mint condition. So you know, I think it just all depends on precisely how it is dropped and the case makes minimal difference.
Has anyone tried the following? I am concerned that it may block the proximity center.
Both links are for the same product; however, they show different images/angles.
amazon.com/Skinomi-TechSkin-Protector-LIFETIME-REPLACEMENTS/dp/B003F31HM4
skinomi.com/htc-aria-carbon-fiber-skin-protector.html
the skinomi thing doesn't have anything I can see that would prevent the screen from shattering if it's dropped.
If you want to protect the phone from the most common and expensive damage, then you need two things:
1. a raised ridge around the edge of the glass so that if the phone is dropped directly on its face, it won't impact the glass, but rather will land on this ridge
2. some kind of shock absorption on the corners of the phone so that the impact of a corner drop is not transmit to the corner of the screen glass
The skinomi "protector" has neither of these features, and IMHO it's simply cosmetic. It does look nice.
Hi guys,
I know this is a silly question but I think its warranted
Coming from a range of IPhone devices I've always used silicon cover that rims around the glass so if it fell out of my pocket screen side down the glass would not crack. Most of my if not of my drops have been from the waist down so hopefully ill continue on that trend and maybe I can escape using a bulky cover.
Now I've just put a gel cover on my note and can't help but feel it adds a lot of volume to a pretty big phone already!!!!
Ideally I want the following but unsure if it will satisfy needs
*Thickish screen protector that will help avoid glass cracking.
*Skin around the boarder if the phone to avoid scratching ( when I do drop it just order replacement skins )
*Rear battery cover is replaceable so not too worried about that but maybe need a skin to cover the camera glass from scratches.
What do u think guys would this be possible and is there any screen protectors / skins out their you would recommend?
Thanks all
a good screen protector will hold your glass in place after its shattered, but wont stop it from shattering.
most screen protectors do not cover the whole screen, they leave the edges exposed. when you drop your phone, its 90% likely to land on a corner first, so you'd need to reinforce the corners to minimise vibrations and the resultant damage in the case of a drop.
the only cases i know of that do this well are the ballistic cases. i had a ballistic shell gel and ballistic hardcore case on my old motorola atrix, i accidentally dropped it from my roof when i was fixing my antenna. no cracks on the screen, no scratches on the device itself. not bad for an 8m drop. sadly ballistic havent released any cases for the note.
Dam thanks ur right the edge needs protection.
Sometimes I think a rubber band would be good enough!! If only someone made a thin silicon band that just edged around the screen and steel frame that would be good enough for me.

I've had ballistic on my last 3 phone and they where amazing. The rubber "balls" in the corners saved my phones numerous times. Never had 1mm of damage. I really hope they do come out with something for the Note. I would be more than fine with the extra bulk knowing it's that protected.
Well, I've had it since launch. Really like it. I use a Moko flip case and keep really good care of it. Yesterday I finished scrolling instagram and right where your right thumb lands 1" in was a scratch about a half inch long.... Seriously bummed. The only thing that could have caused it would be a grain of sand. I've had the same Galaxy s2 for over a year and zero scratches. Anyone else have any scratch experiences with this tablet? Or can recommend a screen protector that fills in small scratches well?
I had this with my first one before I returned it for a dead pixel. Admittedly I didn't have a case yet because it was still in the mail, but I put it in my
school bag in a plastic page protector so it would be ok, but when I took it out, it had a light circular scratch on it. By the time my replacement
Nexus arrived, the case was already here, so it's been on since day one and I'm yet to have a scratch.
Mine got scratched in two weeks even though it claims to have scratch resistant glass. Now I have screen protector on to hide up the scratches.
I've been using a flip-cover from the start and don't see any scratches yet. I hope it stays that way
Hello
I wanted to start thinking on how to protect my OnePlus One but still be able to store it inside of my pockets.
I usually wear standard 550 Levis so the pockets are pretty OK. Still I perfer a thin case.
Besides a thin case, a screen protector is a must. Ive used Best Skins Ever and ZAGG InvisibleShield and personally I perfer Best Skins Ever because its cheaper and it protects even better.
I do see that nowadays a lot of people are using tempered glass. What difference is there?
On cases, I liked the TUDIA Ultra Tough OMNIX hybrid case but, after I cannot find it in Europe, I see it might be too thick. My previous phone was 14.1 mm and I do not mind at all a thick phone (perfer it actually). How thick is the TUDIA?
On tempered glass, I have no idea as I have no experience.
Could you give me some recommendations? Thank you
For case you want Diztronic case. For screen protector i don't recommend tempered glass. I had 3 in this phone and each time i dropped the phone they break. These are minimal drop that have caused no damage to the rest of the phone. They look nice once installed but 9% of the time are one hit protect in case of serious drop. Problem is any drop will break them. After spending $30 i gave up. You dont need screen protector for phone these days. Just make sure the case has a lump.
I agree.. Diztronic is the way to go for a case. I have the ultra tpu and couldn't be happier.. I do use a nillkin glass screen protector because i do keep my phone in my pocket and want to protect the phone screen from things scratching it.. I'd Rather the protector get scratched than the screen itself..
Tempered Glass
I'm a big fan of the tempered glass protectors, I've had a spartan shield glass one on mine for the past 5 months. Dropped it face down from ~5 feet onto concrete not a scratch, then down a concrete stairwell and only received minor scratches to the protector and nothing on the screen itself.
It is not necessary to use a protector, it will make the phone heavier
I use a orzly scrren protector tempered glass
Fit it while the sun is shining on the display (you can see more dust)
and wipe the dust off with all four fingers (bare fingers)
My provided dist cloth just made the dust stick to the cloth, then screen and back and forth
and when peeling the adhesive off the screen protector hold it flat, mid air above the device, with the top side facing up, and the adhesive facing the phone, NEVER turn the protector so that the front of the protector faces downwards. and apply.
It looks perfect, Feels REALLY smooth, and definatley protects it (I had to get two as i messed the first one up, so i put the old protector on an old phone (was too big but the phone was broken anyway)
I dropped it on concrete. Glass shattered a lot, phone was fine.
One thing about these screen protectors is that if you do get a little dust under it DO NOT TAKE ANY TEMPERED GLASS BACK OFF. you cant peel it back, remove dust and reply. IT MESSES IT UP. The adhesive seperates from the protective glass and they never go back together.
Case wise im using a https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Md5L4PtkVnU
Agree wholeheartedly

I have this setup as well, except I have a Ringke fusion case and a Niliken glass screen protector. can't tell it's there, have dropped my phone at least 4 times and neither the phone or the glass screen protector has come out of it with a scratch.
You DO need a tempered glass protector
I keep my OPO in my pocket with the Diztronic TPU case and a tempered glass protector (about US$7 on eBay, search for item number 311029665158). One day I forgot that my keys were in my pocket. The tempered glass protector got a scratch, but the screen is fine.
Yesterday my phone fell 3.3m (4 feet) face down onto a brick floor, in the Diztronic case. The tempered glass protector got chipped and cracked, but again, the screen is fine.
I wasn't planning for the phone to fall —*no one ever plans accidents. Be prepared. (I have no connection to Diztronic or the seller of the tempered glass screen protector.)
One nasty detail: In my pocket the OPO gets warm and the touchscreen fails for at least 10 minutes after taking it out of my pocket.
I use a RInkge Fusion clear case, Niliken glass screen protector. I was running for the train and my phone shot out of my pocket and landed face-down on the tiled floor. I panicked, picked it up, but didn't get to look at it until I was on the train. No damage. None, absolutely fine. No crack in the screen protector, no breaking of the case. Absolutely fine. Fall distance, about 3.5 feet. And, it slid about 2 feet after I accidentally kicked it.
I carry my device in my front pocket every day. Never an issue.
Ooooo...

Give yourself time, you may.
I use the tempered glass protector and flip-case which are sold on the OPO site. IMHO the flip-case offers great protection for in and out pocket, as the screen is completely covered. No worries about what's in my pockets along with the phone....and when its open, the tempered glass is protecting it! Also the flip- case does not add much bulk at all...very thin!
The case is mostly just rubber padding. Not really that much protection.
The glass protector is UGLY but I feel that it would get the some done Thanks for all the suggestions.
