hi im kind of new to this xda forum thing so please bear with me. I was trying to find a froyo rom for my mytouch 1.2 when i ran in to this link of some guy claiming he's found the source code for froyo. I think he did because this was posted almost an hour ago and some of his links go to the android developers site and i guess in that site the source code is there. I dont know how to develop roms but if your a developer go ahead and check this out. Again im not Super sure that if this is the source code it but i think so. If it is then credit goes to the guy that posted that thread, im just announcing it to all you developers. Dont call me a noob or anything im just trying to help out all you froyo lovers get froyo on the g1, mytouch 3g, etc. So thanks for reading and god bless you all
Since im REALLY new to this XDA wont let me post any links for some weird reason so ill describe the search process so you can find it lol. Ok on google search for (android froyo 2.2 release date) , under NEWS for android froyo 2.2 release date when you search it in google, it should be the first one, if not click on the news link thing and look for an article that says android froyo 2.2 release date. You should go to some page called: Click e-News. This posting is really new so it should be one of the first news articles on google. Your Welcome

Hi guys,
This is my first post so please forgive my ignorance. I have just received a brand new HTC Hero from Orange UK as a replacement for my previous Hero that went faulty.
Anyway, I really want to install the Hero 2.1 ROM. However I have only ever messed around with OS changes when I used to install leaked updates to my BlackBerry.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a comprehensive guide to doing everything I need to do to install Hero 2.1 ROM or explain it to me?
Thank you all for any help that you can offer.
http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-hero-hero-modaco-com/297764/the-how-to-guide/
keep in mind that the 2.1 roms available are not fully functional yet. if you want something stable with everything working as intended go for mcr3.0, but that shouldn't stop you from testing new roms! just a note.
double post
Thanks for the link. I'm a pretty big idiot when it comes to this stuff but I'm always willing to give it a shot.
Is there much difference between MoDaCo 3.0 and the 2.1 ROM? I'm just looking for something that is a bit faster or more up to date than a 1.5 Orange UK OS.
For faster than stock, I would suggest modaco 3.0, since 2.1 will be on the way in the new year, and it isn't quite ready for everyday use yet.
But its up to you. Just don't go installing any rru updates if you want to root or install a custom ROM in future.
check out changelog of each of their final releases..and u'll wats added to them ..and wats still not working
RRU updates?

if you make that a question you might get an answer.
if you want speed go for modaco. the 2.1 roms tend to lag here and there, and as i said are not suitable for daily use. they work great for an early preview, but that's it.
Ahh OK sorry to keep on asking what are probably inane questions. I'm guessing since nobody has mentioned RRUs with MoCaDo, that they aren't involved.
I'll see how that ROM goes, hoping it uses HTC Sense UI as I really like the look of it but it's not essential.
I think I have to update the Radio for the MoCaDo update.
I'll probably post again if the change doesn't go well or I can't do it LOL
Thanks again guys.
I've posted a similar thread which ended up in Q&A, but nobody looks there so I'm posting again in the hope someone can shed some light.
I've got a Virgin Desire (2nd hand) which I've debranded with the 2.1 HTC ROM I downloaded and flashed.
How do I get the new 2.2 on the phone? When I do OTA checks for updates it says none available and I can't find a thread with any information on what to do in this situation.
I've searched and checked many times and would appreciate some help!
Cheers,
Joe

I guess You will have to download any Froyo room and flash it manually. OTA update depends on carriers. Hope it helps
So for example, I flash the T-Mob ROM and then wait for the OTA from them?
If you have debranded and now have the HTC Generic ROM installed (with goldcard) then all you have to do is wait a couple days and keep checking.
Or as said above, download a 2.2 generic rom and flash that. Take a look around here, there's plenty of links to download available.
Thanks, I have the generic HTC ROM installed, so my final question is do I need the goldcard in there for the phone to recognise that there is an update available? I took it out at is was a 2gb card and have my normal 6gb card in there at present.
Cheers,
Joe
If your phone WAS branded then you'll need the gold card for ALL future updates

I think you should just put that in your signature
Seems to be what I say in all threads these days, isn't it??
Thanks guys - it may be what you say a lot but my search terms didn't lead me to it.
Perhaps a sticky would be good for this gem of a piece of information?
Go on, tell me it was there all the time and I missed it, hehe.
Just need to search 'debrand htc desire' and most of the threads at some point say keep the gold card in
Yep, freshly redone goldcard in (the one used for debranding) and hey presto...
No updates. Boo hoo.
I'll leave it in for a couple of days then and see what happens.
Geez, just download any Froyo rom and flash already. There are countless threads about this in this forum.

Dude, this phone was with Virgin and there's more chance of Santa Claus taking a dump in my toilet than getting 2.2 from them!
I figured vanilla HTC 2.1 would get the purest and quickest updates.
RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.09.405.8_Radio_32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20_release_140022_signed is what I used to flash it a few weeks back.
So if you've got that ROM what's the issue? Other than needing a gold card to get the new OTA there's nothing else you need as the OTA should just download and install
What ROM are you on at the mo?
Just looked at that page...
Edit: this is what I have now and I'm downloading the ROM and radio files from your sig Eddy. That presumably will sort it out.
And I now realise I've been a complete spack here. It's the recent (Sept 2010) 2.2 update I want - I know I have basic Froyo already.
Android version
2.2
Baseband
32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20
Kernel
2.6.32.15-gf9c0527
Build
2.09.405.8 CL218634 release-keys
Software number
2.09.405.8
Browser version
Webkit 3.1
So am I on the latest and greatest anyway?
Oh arsemonkeys, the tribulation continues.
So I get the ROM on Eddy's sig, run it with fresh goldcard in and itonly goes so far and dumps me out with the black screen/HTC logo - first on the PC is said waiting for bootloader and a couple of minutes later it errored out - something about USB connection error.
So I search and try the white bootloader/fastboot screen approaches but get even less far in.
I've done plenty of searching but the problem is that there is so much information here it's like a needle in a haystack to work out what I need to do to get this ROM on board.
If anyone can help me out then feel free - I'm well and truly befuddled now!
Wait there's an official 2.2 rom for the Desire?

Dude, i don't understand what your asking for here. Isnt it on 2.2 already ??
2.10.405.2 is the latest version, is it not saying it's there if you check for OTAs?
Yes that's what I mean Eddy, no updates show up as being available, whether a gold card is in or not and to top it off I don't seem to be able to install the ROM on your Sig.

Hello,
I'm undecided whether to upgrade to the latest build of the openetna project (the rc5 froyo), it looks like it's still buggy! My question is, where to find the early build (1.6 donut) and is it more stable? Plz help guyz as it's actually for my little brother, and he asked me to help him with it! Thanks!

Anyone??
pfffft, don't highjack my thread player21 lol xD plus i'm talking about the eve not the "evo", i'm talking about the LG GW620
at least can someone tell me how to get this backup done on ubuntu? (i'm a linux noob)
zacpod(dot)com/p/71
what the hell is "unyaffs"?
I got my Eve recently and is much more useable with the open etna firmware. If you're looking for help with nandroid backup this is probably not the place to ask.
I recommend the cfw, if you're confused with the backup you should ask in the openetna forum

Hey guys and gals, just a quick query really. I know that Motorola Defy is soon to get the 2.2 update in Europe by the end of Q2, but I saw a post about some German guy who sent his phone to get fixed to Motorola and it came back with 2.3 official on it. Is Defy going to be seeing 2.3 officially?
And also, because I have wanted 2.3 for a while now but only just got the courage up to start modding my defy (I have flashed & rooted many phones before but didn't dare to do it to my contract one, but now I am confident! and have been making steps towards installing cm7 on it).
I have been following this guide;
OK I cannot post this link because it I haven't posted 8+ times. going to post it like this (hopefully I wont get into trouble >.<)
Part A: that http stuff
Part B: world wide web
Part C: techofweb
Part D: dot com
Part E: /technology/installing-cm7-motorola-defy.html
and have gotten to the install the cm7.zip. now the download link is an SBF file...
is it safe to RSD Lite it from here or should I find the .zip file, I'm rather unsure at this point and don't want to proceed with the possibility of f-ing my phone up.
ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED! thanks
Chazara

Ah... Again
Sorry to be a pain, this thread can be removed. I figured it out.
My own laziness is certainly a hindrance.

Hi,
I want to root and then install the Android Revolution HD Custom Rom and I have a question before I go ahead.
Basically is it safe to go ahead and use the tools listed in the Revolution HD dev thread to root and then install?
For example The one click S Off tool Visionary is apparently not being developed any more and is only intended for Froyo builds.
I have been searching the dev thread but at 6500+ pages I may well have missed something so apologies if this has already been answered.
Anyone? I really don't want to brick the phone with a year left on the contract.
Don't know how you read 6500 pages and miss the ace hack kit. Use that make sure to read the manual
As I don't have two spare weeks to read all 6500 pages I didn't. Found mention of the AHK on page 6200 and something. Thanks for the heads up!
Yay!! rooted and booted and running 7.0.3, AHK worked like a charm!
Thanks again!
