Hello,
I'm undecided whether to upgrade to the latest build of the openetna project (the rc5 froyo), it looks like it's still buggy! My question is, where to find the early build (1.6 donut) and is it more stable? Plz help guyz as it's actually for my little brother, and he asked me to help him with it! Thanks!

Anyone??
pfffft, don't highjack my thread player21 lol xD plus i'm talking about the eve not the "evo", i'm talking about the LG GW620
at least can someone tell me how to get this backup done on ubuntu? (i'm a linux noob)
zacpod(dot)com/p/71
what the hell is "unyaffs"?
I got my Eve recently and is much more useable with the open etna firmware. If you're looking for help with nandroid backup this is probably not the place to ask.
I recommend the cfw, if you're confused with the backup you should ask in the openetna forum

Hi guys,
This is my first post so please forgive my ignorance. I have just received a brand new HTC Hero from Orange UK as a replacement for my previous Hero that went faulty.
Anyway, I really want to install the Hero 2.1 ROM. However I have only ever messed around with OS changes when I used to install leaked updates to my BlackBerry.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a comprehensive guide to doing everything I need to do to install Hero 2.1 ROM or explain it to me?
Thank you all for any help that you can offer.
http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-hero-hero-modaco-com/297764/the-how-to-guide/
keep in mind that the 2.1 roms available are not fully functional yet. if you want something stable with everything working as intended go for mcr3.0, but that shouldn't stop you from testing new roms! just a note.
double post
Thanks for the link. I'm a pretty big idiot when it comes to this stuff but I'm always willing to give it a shot.
Is there much difference between MoDaCo 3.0 and the 2.1 ROM? I'm just looking for something that is a bit faster or more up to date than a 1.5 Orange UK OS.
For faster than stock, I would suggest modaco 3.0, since 2.1 will be on the way in the new year, and it isn't quite ready for everyday use yet.
But its up to you. Just don't go installing any rru updates if you want to root or install a custom ROM in future.
check out changelog of each of their final releases..and u'll wats added to them ..and wats still not working
RRU updates?

if you make that a question you might get an answer.
if you want speed go for modaco. the 2.1 roms tend to lag here and there, and as i said are not suitable for daily use. they work great for an early preview, but that's it.
Ahh OK sorry to keep on asking what are probably inane questions. I'm guessing since nobody has mentioned RRUs with MoCaDo, that they aren't involved.
I'll see how that ROM goes, hoping it uses HTC Sense UI as I really like the look of it but it's not essential.
I think I have to update the Radio for the MoCaDo update.
I'll probably post again if the change doesn't go well or I can't do it LOL
Thanks again guys.

Please i m been reading alot ,i find that is not possible to root the update froyo 2.2, but from forums post from last month .i will like to know it there a new fix. please could someone help me with that.thank you

Hi eddyfalmaguer86,
From a sticky post in the EVO Q&A forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=747495, which was last updated on 8/10 as of this post (8/21), it appears that there is "no known way to root a stock Froyo at this point."
This appears to be the inability to downgrade the 0.93.0000 HBoot which comes with stock Froyo, but my guess is that perhaps in a few more days or weeks, some brilliant guy will find a way.
Good luck.
Sorry to jack the thread, but in froyo release it said we are able to add and search unknown friend on friend stream. Anyone know how the hell?

If you read "in forums post from last month" that it was not able to be rooted, if you wanted to know if there has been any change from that, wouldn't you read "forums post from THIS month" to find out the latest news?
I think the admin should make a popup window when someone signs up, that says in huge fonts.. "Evo with version 2.2 already installed on stock phone or with OTA update, is NOT rootable at this time"
Click OK if you understand this.
When they click OK, it pops up again and say's the same message, but with "No, Do you REALLY Understand this"?
Click Ok if you REALLY Understand
Then a popup comes up and says "Ok, if you REALLY do understand, please type
"I understand Evo with version 2.2 already installed on stock phone or with OTA update, is NOT rootable at this time"
Once the person has successfully typed that in, registration advances
Hello all, I have recently moved from iOS to my Desire HD, loving it. Have been reading a lot about rooting, and have downloaded visionary r14, didn't work, so I assumed I had the latest software. This is the stupid noob question, how do I actually see what software I have. When I go into the software information page its telling me the software number is 1.24.405.1, same with the build number. The Kernal is 2.6.32.21, and the baseband is 12.27.60.14bU_26.02.00.29_M4, and its running Android 2.2.
Any ideas?
I have done the check for updates, its telling me its up to date. At the moment I cant even temproot with Visionary r14.
I'm at a total loss, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi!!!
If you have android 2.2 than you can root dhd with visionary r14.
Just remember to enable USB-debugging before running visionary. Temroot first than permroot.
NEXT TIME POST IN RIGHT SECTION
regards

I deleted that new thread of yours for being duplicate to this one (and still in the wrong sub-forum btw .
As already mentioned: this is not dev related, I will therefore move it to q&a

Recently got a HTC Wildfire (alltel) off somebody for nothing and I am looking for a way to fix it up a bit! I have rooted it. The current firmware is 2.1-update1 and I can not figure out how to do do more with it! I am trying to get it to 2.2 and eventually 2.3...even further if I can! 3.0? 4.0? Anything and Everything somebody could tell me to help out would be AMAZING! I am not a Noob but when it comes to this device I am! I currently own a Galaxy Note myself and this is a lil side project but I really need help!!!! Thank You soo much for anybody that helps!!!
AFAIK that's the HTC Bee and is totally different from the Wildfire. So Wildfire stuff will not work, and, looking around on these forums, I don't think there are any custom ROMs for that device.

z4Root can root your device, try it - it's a universal solution for FroYo and Eclair.

My Wildfire is from Cox and it is a "Bee". Will it also work for the Bee? Thank you so much!
From my original post, I said I already rooted the device. My problem is, I would like to put a custom ROM in the device. I'd like to be on at least 2.2 or 2.3 with the device. Its almost useless the way it is. Anybody that knows any way to do that on this device?? (ya my phone is a Note, but would still like this one nice too...well nice as I could get it)

Hello! I found the firmware on the phone to Android 2.2 HTC Wildfire A315c (HTC Bee) that the description is identical to the HTC Wildfire 6225 / ADR6225 (HTC Bee) but the flash does not work because it did not fit the phone ID. Can anything be done about it?
Sorry for translate.google.com
