Hi eddyfalmaguer86,
From a sticky post in the EVO Q&A forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=747495, which was last updated on 8/10 as of this post (8/21), it appears that there is "no known way to root a stock Froyo at this point."
This appears to be the inability to downgrade the 0.93.0000 HBoot which comes with stock Froyo, but my guess is that perhaps in a few more days or weeks, some brilliant guy will find a way.
Good luck.
Sorry to jack the thread, but in froyo release it said we are able to add and search unknown friend on friend stream. Anyone know how the hell?

If you read "in forums post from last month" that it was not able to be rooted, if you wanted to know if there has been any change from that, wouldn't you read "forums post from THIS month" to find out the latest news?
I think the admin should make a popup window when someone signs up, that says in huge fonts.. "Evo with version 2.2 already installed on stock phone or with OTA update, is NOT rootable at this time"
Click OK if you understand this.
When they click OK, it pops up again and say's the same message, but with "No, Do you REALLY Understand this"?
Click Ok if you REALLY Understand
Then a popup comes up and says "Ok, if you REALLY do understand, please type
"I understand Evo with version 2.2 already installed on stock phone or with OTA update, is NOT rootable at this time"
Once the person has successfully typed that in, registration advances

I am awaiting my replacement EVO which will more than likely have FROYO 2.2 OTA on it when I recieve it, fortunatley my phone guy will give it to me unupdated in the event it dosen't have it. My guess is that is why I haven't recieved my replacement yet ( been two weeks on back order from Sprint) they are probably updating the replacements to break Root, so I'm just wondering if the Dev's have anything in the works yet...
Must have Root...
Thanx

To reiterate: If it's a question not pertaining to a specific devs work, and is not in that dev's thread, it should be in the Q&A section. Q&A stands for Question and Answer, for people that aren't aware.
To answer you question: No there is no root yet for the OTA 2.2

Hello,
I'm undecided whether to upgrade to the latest build of the openetna project (the rc5 froyo), it looks like it's still buggy! My question is, where to find the early build (1.6 donut) and is it more stable? Plz help guyz as it's actually for my little brother, and he asked me to help him with it! Thanks!

Anyone??
pfffft, don't highjack my thread player21 lol xD plus i'm talking about the eve not the "evo", i'm talking about the LG GW620
at least can someone tell me how to get this backup done on ubuntu? (i'm a linux noob)
zacpod(dot)com/p/71
what the hell is "unyaffs"?
I got my Eve recently and is much more useable with the open etna firmware. If you're looking for help with nandroid backup this is probably not the place to ask.
I recommend the cfw, if you're confused with the backup you should ask in the openetna forum

Hello all, I have recently moved from iOS to my Desire HD, loving it. Have been reading a lot about rooting, and have downloaded visionary r14, didn't work, so I assumed I had the latest software. This is the stupid noob question, how do I actually see what software I have. When I go into the software information page its telling me the software number is 1.24.405.1, same with the build number. The Kernal is 2.6.32.21, and the baseband is 12.27.60.14bU_26.02.00.29_M4, and its running Android 2.2.
Any ideas?
I have done the check for updates, its telling me its up to date. At the moment I cant even temproot with Visionary r14.
I'm at a total loss, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi!!!
If you have android 2.2 than you can root dhd with visionary r14.
Just remember to enable USB-debugging before running visionary. Temroot first than permroot.
NEXT TIME POST IN RIGHT SECTION
regards

I deleted that new thread of yours for being duplicate to this one (and still in the wrong sub-forum btw .
As already mentioned: this is not dev related, I will therefore move it to q&a

Is it possible to root an official rom by HTC (2.3.3) developed as RUU?
After upgrade I used UnRevoked 3.2.2 and it doesn't work. I think that the problem is with HBOOT 1.02.0001. Downgrading to official ROM 2.2 (RUU) doesn't work, so it's impossible to root my phone in the same way as i did it before (on Froyo).
You are the 10th user asking this.
If you flashed the RUU - then NO, not yet.
I see than im not the only one with this problem.
To Administrators - please remove this thread
Yo mods, can we please get a merge of all topics related to this one and then sticky it please.
It should be stick 'cause a lot of people have been ”afected” by this hboot update.
Including me T_T
Stop posting these threads........
I repeat myself -_-

After that i tried to install a rom, for that i used the RhodiumWAdvancedRUU, i used task 29 to clear the whole thing but after that i wasnt able to install any rom, it gets stuck on the boot screen
Any advice would be really apreciated

Why do you need that if you are able to install custom ROM's...?
If you can flash ROM's, don't worry about it.
I need spl 2.08 ni order to install android ice cream, i could use Hspl4 but it only supports from 1.42 and above while mine is 0.87
btw i'd place all the links im getting the info from, but i cant post links yet

Do you have a TP2? If so please let us know where you got a working copy of something newer than GB which works.
If not, you are in the wrong place.

um, ya. That is a HD2 phone.
So the question once again is do you have a TP2 phone, because what you linked to will not work on this phone. HD2 ≠ TP2.

Ya. The title "Install Android Ice Cream Sandwich On The HTC HD2 In Minutes" kind of gives that little secret away.
Good luck finding anything newer than GB for the TP2.

I'm going to say something that's likely to land me in the doghouse but every one of these threads are here for a reason; legacy or new. I don't mind folks asking questions and I've sure asked my fair number of them too. I get the tutorials may not be well written and can be somewhat "over your head" in nature but many of you need to take the time and read them. Don't just jump in and fire away asking questions that are available and answered...please do your homework. Many of you expect an automatic quick fix...it simply is not that simple. If you need SPL0.85.OliNex...it's been asked, answered and here. One more thing...take the time to edit your signature or let us know what you have, attempted or for the sake argument what is under the hood of your device...you got to tell us otherwise we don't know. I apologize up front for anybody I've offended but all of you newbies need to be more thorough when posting. You need to begin by telling us which device you're using. SPL2.08 is the HTC HD2. You might be in the wrong thread but it too makes my point; please take the time to read these threads. A lot of folks put a tremendous time into their efforts. We expect all of you to do the same, no shortcuts; take care!
