Yeah, its not as good as it is on wm, we all know this. But the devs are working on it
In the mean time, I find a free app on the market called "audiomanager" and it has a setting for in-call volume. It doesn't raise it THAT much, but its enough to notice a little difference

I have noticed that the call volume is way too low on my t-Mobile galaxy s2. If I use google voice to call it seems a little better but still quiet. Is there any way to increase the volume? The *#*#197328640#*#* method does not work. There are no options in the sounds section. They all say "menu not exist."
Is there a way to increase call volume?
Go into settings>call and check hearing aid compatibilty. See if that helps

Ahh yes, that did help a little. Thank you!
However, it is still way too quiet to hear when there is any background noise
Will it be possible to increase the sound once the phone can be rooted?
Im sure that all things of that nature will be addressed. I do have to say though that my earpiece is plenty loud enough so maybe yours is just gonna be quiet. Idk

Weird this is one of the clearest, loudest phones I've ever had
I'd ask to test a demo unit in store and make sure your phone isn't defective.

I'd agree with the sound being loud. Its pretty loud for me and I'm thinking you should try another one.

Talking on the phone practically makes my ears bleed it is so LOUD. Does anyone know of an app that allows you to lower the volume beyond what the normal settings allow for? Is there any other way to accomplish this task? Voodoo sound doesnt seem to make any difference on call volume, even when I am using headphones on the call. Thanks!

I think that controls the mic gain, not the earpiece.

I have always been able to adjust the call volume via the side volume controls, when in a call
Ie: when on a call, turn the volume down the same way you would the ringer using the side buttons, and instead of seeing the media volume change, you should see incall volume adjusted

Yeah I do that but even at the lowest setting it is obnoxiously loud.

maybe your ears are just overly sensitive or something is messed up on your phone, rom, kernel, something... wipe and fresh flash see if your problem persists. I can turn the volume down below my level of hearing, but I also have slightly damaged ears from too much gun-play without hearing protection.
I would love to know why its loud.....cause i want to make mine louder....i think im going deaf

Switching to CM7 seems to have fixed the issue somewhat though the volume controls in call are a bit eratic now. I am pretty sure it was rom related as it happened to me on 2 of marcusant's roms. Maybe he likes loud calls lol.

Try the volume+ app in the market. He has free and paid versions but you can get the paid verszion for free on his website.

I believe the fix that worked for me was to disable hifi record in the voodoo control settings. Hope this helps!
Record settings in voodoo seem only to control mic gain (or mic loss, when I enable them no one can hear me! ). My earpiece is also obnoxiously loud in calls- on every GB rom I have tried. I would definitely like a fix for this.
No amount of wiping and flashing between multiple GB roms has ever fixed this.

disabling the Voodoo hi-fi play and record settings definitely fixed the loud call audio problem for me in gingerbread on the epic, sorry it's not working for you.
Hey peeps I just want to see what others think about the audio quality when playing music from the phone speaker..even some of the ringtones sound bassy a bit loud and distorted. Anyone else notice this? I hope my speaker isnt blown..

I've noticed the same thing on mine.
Its extremely loud. Ive noticed things sound normal if u put the volume like 2 notches under the max.. but still its rather strange. You think this is normal or defect?

It seems to be a general issue with the device. I exchanged my device because of this issue but I notice the same sound distortion when volume is maxed.

So same audio loudness and distortion with replacement phone? I guess its not that bad.. here at my job I put it on max volume and you can hear the music from quite a distance. The distortion goes away tho if u dont raise volume to max. Seems to be only with speaker because it sounds good with headphones.

As you know the speakers are loud on the One. The minimum setting is very loud for an early morning
Anyone know of a more controlled volume app that could set the minimum volume lower for media?

Installed Volume+ from PlayStore - makes it just a little bit quieter, but still not enough

Or wait when devs add volume steps tweak to roms... It's nice tweak...
Really want to keep it stock. I'll get into a ROM spin if I start... And i dont want to start as i wont stop.
Would just prefer this phone as is. Still a little app would be great.

Interestingly, when I use the phone volume button rocker to change the TV volume (via the ir remote app), one push on the phone moves 3-4 increments on the tv

Right!
'Fine volume control' from app store seems to work.
FYI volume at its lowest on this phone is 8% which is rather too high.

This is my biggest bugbear with this phone. On minimum volume, both on speaker and headset, it's way too loud. I hope HTC realise this and fix it soon.
OT - does anyone else hear a constant annoying clicking through the headset, even when there is no music playing? I hope HTC fix this too.
there is a mod in the trickdroid thread to increase volume steps. i think its around post 5400

Here is a better solution. Dsp manager lite. I just set the db sliders down now I have a lower volume and highest volume is still ok.

I can't be sure if it's me but sometimes I get really bad sound quality on phone calls after flashing any audio mod. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Thanks.

There is only one audio mod which has no effect on phone calls for me, its "Awesome Beats".
All the others I tried or those which are built into custom roms with the except of Beats distorts
the phone call incoming voice unless I turn the audio way down making it way too quiet.
None of the audio mods have any effect on the out-going voice.
It's actually 2 for me. Whether it's been merged into the ROM or installed as a 3rd party app, Awesome Beats and Noozxoide has had no affect on call quality. That just goes to show how different each device really is lol

Strange, I thought I tested em all, but I have never heard of Noozxoide until I read your post.
I will have to give it a try, our devices are really not that different...
It's just that I never heard of Noozxoide til now.
It's pretty good, not the BEST but it definitely makes a difference.
Every device, even the same model, can very well handle ROMs, kernels, mods, scripts, binaries, etc.. differently and that's what I was referring to.
You know this though.
