[Q] call volume increase - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

I have noticed that the call volume is way too low on my t-Mobile galaxy s2. If I use google voice to call it seems a little better but still quiet. Is there any way to increase the volume? The *#*#197328640#*#* method does not work. There are no options in the sounds section. They all say "menu not exist."
Is there a way to increase call volume?

Go into settings>call and check hearing aid compatibilty. See if that helps

Ahh yes, that did help a little. Thank you!
However, it is still way too quiet to hear when there is any background noise
Will it be possible to increase the sound once the phone can be rooted?

Im sure that all things of that nature will be addressed. I do have to say though that my earpiece is plenty loud enough so maybe yours is just gonna be quiet. Idk

Weird this is one of the clearest, loudest phones I've ever had
I'd ask to test a demo unit in store and make sure your phone isn't defective.

I'd agree with the sound being loud. Its pretty loud for me and I'm thinking you should try another one.

In call speaker sound

Yeah, its not as good as it is on wm, we all know this. But the devs are working on it
In the mean time, I find a free app on the market called "audiomanager" and it has a setting for in-call volume. It doesn't raise it THAT much, but its enough to notice a little difference

In call volume too LOUD

Talking on the phone practically makes my ears bleed it is so LOUD. Does anyone know of an app that allows you to lower the volume beyond what the normal settings allow for? Is there any other way to accomplish this task? Voodoo sound doesnt seem to make any difference on call volume, even when I am using headphones on the call. Thanks!

I think that controls the mic gain, not the earpiece.

I have always been able to adjust the call volume via the side volume controls, when in a call
Ie: when on a call, turn the volume down the same way you would the ringer using the side buttons, and instead of seeing the media volume change, you should see incall volume adjusted

Yeah I do that but even at the lowest setting it is obnoxiously loud.

maybe your ears are just overly sensitive or something is messed up on your phone, rom, kernel, something... wipe and fresh flash see if your problem persists. I can turn the volume down below my level of hearing, but I also have slightly damaged ears from too much gun-play without hearing protection.
I would love to know why its loud.....cause i want to make mine louder....i think im going deaf

Switching to CM7 seems to have fixed the issue somewhat though the volume controls in call are a bit eratic now. I am pretty sure it was rom related as it happened to me on 2 of marcusant's roms. Maybe he likes loud calls lol.

Try the volume+ app in the market. He has free and paid versions but you can get the paid verszion for free on his website.

I believe the fix that worked for me was to disable hifi record in the voodoo control settings. Hope this helps!
Record settings in voodoo seem only to control mic gain (or mic loss, when I enable them no one can hear me! ). My earpiece is also obnoxiously loud in calls- on every GB rom I have tried. I would definitely like a fix for this.
No amount of wiping and flashing between multiple GB roms has ever fixed this.

disabling the Voodoo hi-fi play and record settings definitely fixed the loud call audio problem for me in gingerbread on the epic, sorry it's not working for you.

I've noticed the same thing on mine.
Its extremely loud. Ive noticed things sound normal if u put the volume like 2 notches under the max.. but still its rather strange. You think this is normal or defect?

It seems to be a general issue with the device. I exchanged my device because of this issue but I notice the same sound distortion when volume is maxed.

So same audio loudness and distortion with replacement phone? I guess its not that bad.. here at my job I put it on max volume and you can hear the music from quite a distance. The distortion goes away tho if u dont raise volume to max. Seems to be only with speaker because it sounds good with headphones.

Is there any way to increase in-call volume?

I can't listen clearly what people say when i'm in busy street. So, is there any way to increase the in-call volume?

If you already turn it at the highest, then nothing you can do.
In busy street, it is quite normal that you can not hear it properly. too bad.
Are we assuming that in call you have actually pressed the camera zoom buttons to turn the volume up?

So.. I don't mean to sound like a troll at all, so please don't take it this way... Just a serious question...
When you are on a call... You can use the volume rocker to lower your in call volume. Have you tried that?
Also, rooting in and of itself shouldn't cause any changes to the phone other than granting super user privileges.

Another option would be do a factory reset and see what that does for you.

First thing I thought of too. Why not just lower the volume?
