Cliffs:
-So about 2 weeks ago I got the Evo with a brand new Sprint contract, with a temporary # to try it out for a month to see if I like the service.
-My family and I decided that we're gonna keep Sprint and cancel Verizon.
-Today I went to the Sprint store to port all the numbers over.
-All other numbers went through besides for my phone.
Is it because it's rooted??
All of the other numbers have already ported over, within minutes. I was told mine would be done about 2 hrs ago, still not.
Any answer please?

Did, thank you.
Apparently the Sprint rep made a typo.
They may not be the best cs but calling more than once or going to a store a store is always an option

It is not because you're rooted.

You could try doing a manual update profile and update prl (Menu -> Settings -> System Updates), if the number is ported on sprint's side but not on your phone, this might help.
Otherwise, call *2 and ask for tier 2 porting support. I used to have a direct # to them, but no longer. They will be able to fix it for you for sure (as long as you have not already cancelled your verizon account)
Something along the same lines happened to mine. I took mine to the Sprint shop when my Tmobile number didn't port over, and the tech fixed it up in 30 seconds.
The majority of problems I have come across when porting a number to a different carrier can usually be traced back to 1 of 2 things. Either the carrier who the number was originally with didn't release it when they should have, or more likely, your phone is not updating its data profile on its own.
Since you have root, I'm assuming that you have one of the recoveries installed. Pull the battery for about 30 seconds or so, boot into recovery and do a data wipe (that step is somewhat optional, do it if you can, if not then fine) then when the phone boots up again go to settings>system updates>update profile.

Quick question,
I have had my phone rooted for several months now. Ever since I rooted though, I always got the "Verizon wireless can not authenticate your phone" message when roaming. This has not been a big deal until now.
I have already spent a lot of time with sprint support on the phone and at the store, and they actually are just giving me a new phone, so the problem is solved.
MY actual question is, are people still having this issue happen when they root their newer phones? I ask because I would like to root my new phone, but not sure if I want to chance it messing up my roaming again.
Yea, it happens, but you don't need a new phone as the fix is really easy.
Call Sprint support and have them reset your profile on their server. They will put you on hold for a minute while they do that. Then they will have you remove your battery for one minute (the tech gal I had actually timed it and told me when to put the battery back in). Then you will be good to go.
Note-I don't know why this is, but it took me about 15 minutes talking to convince the tech support gal to do it, but once she did it roaming works fine again.
You can download the "Roam Control" app from the market, which allows you to force roaming to check if it works, paid app, but it is cheap. I just told the tech support girl that their was a spot in my house behind a metal shed that I get roaming when I checked it (important because she wasn't willing to do anything unless I was currently in a roaming area, and I didn't think it was prudent to tell here I was using Roam control).
Well, they gave me a new MSID witch did not fix the issue. After about another 45 minutes of trying things, she transfered me to account services and they said that they would just replace the phone.
I do not roam very often at all, so I said okay.
I saved my nandroid backups and everything for if I re-root. I just wasnt sure if this was an issue people were still getting with their new phones or not.
In just a few days, I'll be upgrading my trusty, old reliable HTC Incredible 2 to a Samsung GS4. I plan to hand down my DInc 2 to my grandson to use as a Wi-Fi only Android device (music, games, Skype), but I'd like to insure he doesn't inadvertently hop on the VZ network with my existing cell phone number and knock me off the mobile network.
Is there a way to permanently disable cell service on the Incredible 2?
Thanks!

Now that I've wiped and installed about six different ROMs on my retired DInc2, I remembered why I wanted a deeper solution. Every time I factory default (or install a new ROM), the phone tries to reach out to the Verizon mother ship, possibly interfering with my new phone.
Is there a way, perhaps by using QPST or through the EPST (##778) menu, to zero out the mobile voice/text/data info in the phone so that it survives reboots and ROM flashes?

Thanks.
I did try the QPST equivalent (CM10 ROMs don't support ##778) and cleared out my MDN, MCC and MIN. Ironically, I wasn't getting the "Activate your phone" bugivation before I cleared them, but am now. It would seem that Verizon believes an unprogrammed phone ... requires programming (activation).
I've installed SManager and have radiooptions 1 set on each boot, and have the phone in Airplane Mode. This should be sufficient for my grandson, unless he starts mucking around.

its impossible for your grandson to "interfere" with your phone once its deactivated in their switch. CDMA access is granted/denied via imei codes, and if the line that has your # associated with it has your GS4's imei associated with it, then its relegated to using the global roaming capability based upon the sim card which would have nothing to do with your service, even if he went to the UK and hopped on vodaphone (verizons partner/parent company) i wouldnt worry about it. Just make sure you factory reset and that hes signed in to the play store with his gmail account, and you shouldnt have any "crosstalk" between devices...
cheers

sense based roms will default to the "activate your phone" screen if its not activated, unless the dev has removed that part from the script. CM roms, in my experience, have the tendency to skip that part. My dinc2 is deactivated and factory reset (it was donated to me so i could have a new droid to try to break, making it the 6th in my current collection) and there simply isnt a way (apart from imei cloning) for your grandson to futz with your service once your old phones imei has been rmoved from vzw's activation system. Not trying to beat a dead horse here, just trying to be as informative/helpful as i can whilst avoiding sounding like a ****
My phone was stolen. Since it was stolen, based on the data usage, the device seems to have only been turned on 3 times, with very minimal data usage. I've been trying to locate the phone via Device Manager, but it has not given me any information. I hoped that the lock code feature would be activated once the phone was turned back on, but I tested it with my replacement phone, and it doesn't appear to be the case. I asked Sprint if the phone could've been activated with another carrier and was told that since it was attached to my phone number it couldn't be (I hadn't reported the phone as stolen with them, because I wanted service to the phone, to utilize the device manager). My question is, is that correct, and if the person changed the gmail account on the phone, wouldn't I then lose the ability to track it, because it would no longer be associated with my email account, as opposed to my esn.
I saw the info about Lookout and Plan B, but it's showing that Plan B isn't compatible with my phone.
Your phone is lost for good. Yes if they change the google account then you cant track. Also if the person who found/stole/has the device knows enough they change the esn and use it. Also if the gsm modification is done then they can also put it on another network and use it. I suggest making a lost/stolen claim and move on.
Sorry for the bad news I had to give you.

Phone: HTC One M9
Carrier: Sprint
Rom: VenomOneM9 3.5.0
This morning I was able to make calls from my phone and now I am screwed. I shouldn't say screwed but I know there is one more thing I should do. Anyways here it is, I called up Sprint and talked to there tech department and they are confused as well. I can receive calls but I can not call out. I can send text messages but I can not receive them, also at the bottom of the sent message it says "Pending"
When I press my phone icon to make a call, I can get to my dial pad. I can type in a number to call but when I hit the call button , the number that I just put it disappears and the screen is back the dial pad .
All of this and my internet/data still works. Sprint advised me to take it into a Sprint repair center but they are a distance away from me.
So when I said screwed I have not tried to reinstall the Venom Rom yet. I was hoping that it was just a setting that I may have accidentally checked or unchecked. If none of this works then I think I know where I may be going this weekend.

Have you you tried to update profile in settings/system updates?
Yes, when I tap on them they darken so you know they are being pressed and nothing happens. I dialed ##72786# and when I tap on the last # it disappears like I didn't type anything.

I would make a back up then flash a stock rom update profile and see if it works then restore back up
Lets say I do a back up then flash a stock rom update profile and it works, then If I do a restore of the back up, wouldn't that get me back to the original way the phone is now?
The # codes (utms?? Mmc?? Cant remember the name) wont work on custom roms at all. You need a stock rom for those.
Not calling out I'd say your bill needs to be paid. You probably have free texts.. Call your provider and ask if any monies are owed.
The only way to test is go back to a stock rom but I'd recommend s-off before you do that.

When I was on the phone with Sprint they didn't say anything about my bill. Actually they gave me a $10 credit for my issue. Last night I wiped my phone and reinstalled Viper and all it good now. I was hoping it was as simple as a setting that was turned off or then again turned on also in the back of my mind I was also wondering if when I updated Superuser, I did it wrong, and slowly the phone was misbehaving. Anyways the phone is back to working order and I am happy.
Ok here's a bit more to add. Even though I had wiped the phones info and did a reinstall of the Viper rom, it messed up again again and again but let me explain what I had done and where I am now. I actually did all of the updates and redownloaded all of my apps, instead of doing a backup. A day later the phone was messing up again. This next time, before I reinstalled the rom, I did a backup, then a wipe and then a reinstall. After the reinstall I immediately did a test call with nothing done to the phone and it was working fine again. I did a restore of the backup, once that was complete I had done a test call. As soon as pressing the call button the phone was messed up. I did another wipe and another reinstall like I had done before and installed all of the updates that the play store said I needed to do. Then I stated to install a limited amount of apps that I had before and it was going good for a little while and then it was messing up again. This time I wiped and reinstalled yet again and have not installed all of the updates, this is day three of the reinstall and so far so good. I think there is an update that is making the rom malfunction. I'll post the updates that I have left to download tomorrow since I did a small amount of updates this morning.
Ok its been a while since the last post and here we go. I downloaded most of the updates from the playstore that was recommended. I had only three left to do Android System Webview, HTC Service Pack and Superuser. The last update I did was for Superuser. I actually did this update a few days ago but now I am back to the issue of no call out and no message in. I believe its Superuser malfunctioning and messing up my phones other apps. Can anyone help me out with this. In Superuser under Cleanup should I reinstall it? Should I re-download and re-flash superuser?
Supersu should be left at 2.65 as it's a widely known working version for m9.
Sent from my HTC One M9 using Tapatalk
Update to my report, I decided to do the cleanup. Superuser has been removed from my phone but when I go to the play store it says its still installed. I have no issue reinstalling venom rom but I am just wondering when the update to the Superuser app is making my phone mess up. Is there an updated Superuser flashable file that works with Venom Rom? Or am I going to need to stick with a version that needs to be updated? Or am I to blame with installing the Pro version and play store still says I need to update the older version? I am so confused.
Phone has been redone again. Currently its up-to-date except for Supersuser. This is now day 1 and time to see what happens by day 3.
I downloaded the September security patch and UI 2.5 update over the air for my Verizon Note 10+ the other day. Since then, my cell service is non existent. I can't make any calls or use any data, it only works using wifi. The signal bars are grayed out, or sometimes have an "x" next to them. The airplane mode is not on, but the airplane mode icon is a shade of light blue rather than being either gray for off or blue for on. I tried chatting with VZ since it was after hours....that didn't help. They had my fiddle with resetting network settings and doing a factory reset, neither worked. I've taken the sim out and reinserted, no luck. If not on wifi, SIM status says network = not available, mobile network state = disconnected, service state = radio off, IMS registration status = off. It's a non rooted virgin VZ Note 10+, SM-N975U, not 5G, running android 10.
Today I went to an authorized VZ store, who replaced the SIM. Didn't change a thing. They suggested I go to an actual VZ store, which I would have but couldn't look up on web without a signal. They directed me to one who swapped the SIM again and had me do another reset. No luck. They popped the SIM in another phone and it worked, just no luck in my phone.
VZ tech coaches said I was on my own and to reach out to Samsung or Google because it must be a hardware issue. How does a software update cause a hardware problem? They had no response.
Anyone have any ideas?
Make sure everything you want is backed up...
Try resetting network settings and clearing the system cache on the boot menu.
If that doesn't work, try a hard boot.
You can also try uninstalling the last update if it permits to go back to the factory load version.
Last if that fails, hard reset.
If that don't get it it will need to be reflashed...

If it's still under warranty let Samsung do it. In the US they have centers as well at Best Buys.
See what your bloody carrier says
That sucks.
If you bought through a carrier, don't you get a couple years warranty?
The Note 10 series has only been out just over a year so they should honour any warranty...

I got it the first day it came out, so JUST over a year. No more warranty. I also cheaped out on the VZ insurance since I baby my phones. The thing is pristine kit and would want insurance for loss, theft or droppage, not because a factory update bricked it.

There are deeper settings but that's as much as I know.
I think it's a settings or firmware issue not blown hardware.

Thanks for the encouragement and advise. I still owe $500 on this $1,000+ phone, so it's just frustrating.
Access point name was not selected (radio button was not selected). I selected the only option "Verizon Internet/VZWINTERNET"
SIM card status says signal is -113dBm 0 asu, network not available, radio off, mobile network state disconnected

No, I don't think so. The "Add" Access Point Names is grayed out. It will only allow me to change the APN name for the existing APN, not any of the other settings mentioned in the link.

So you do have leverage with Verizon; make them own* it if possible.
Not sure how Verizon tech support is structured but ask for advanced tech support. Escalate the case if need be. Keep calling back if the reps don't know what to do until you find the smart ones.
Try their customer retainment group if all else fails, they are the ones that make the last ditch effort by the carrier to try to keep you from leaving.
A samsung Experience center might be your best bet as they can do advanced diagnostics... or so they've claimed. Never used these myself.
Their phone tech support is horrible; the US Samsung group are the best of this lot.
*Doesn't always work but many times I've gotten AT&T and Verizon (landline) to remedy situations. There been times where it took dozens of calls to find the right person and for them to feel my motivation, lol.
There's more than one way to hack...
I had the same problem as you after the update and after playing in the settings it turned out that the set data limit was turned on, I turned that off and my data is working again. Look under the data usage and see if that's it for you.

After the last few factory resets, I did get warnings from the "setup wizard" about data being limited due to time of day or a data limit....but the data limit and/or warnings are not on. The phone won't even activate, yet somehow Google recognizes the phone number and all during install. So, I'd think it could read the SIM.
Found some very helpful reps at a local Verizon store. While they couldn't fix the phone, I will allegedly receive a refurbed unit tomorrow with no deductible.

What about time settings? Are they correct?
>It be preferable to keep this unit if you took great care of it, many don't!<
A Samsung Experience center has advanced diagnostic capabilities (allegedly) and/or could reflash it.
I think it's either a settings or firmware issue not hardware.
Play with it, Android's love attention... or get it more surrogate wuv before you give up on it.
Be patient there's a lot of talent here.
