First off let me apologise if this has already been answered elsewhere.....I have had a search but short of trawing through hundreds of threads I thought this may be the best option.
My question is this: I am currently using one ringtone and one alert on my Desire, both of these are in mp3 format and both are on the sd card. After mounting the sd card, when I resume normal function of the phone the ringtone has reverted to its default setting (windchimer) but the alert tone stays as I set it, this also happens after powering the phone off and back on again. Does anybody have an answer as to why this happens, and more importantly can anybody tell me how to stop it happening? This is driving me round the bend.
while the sdcard is in use (connectd do laptop, for example), the android equipment cant access the card, so It will user the default ringtone
I realise that but I don't understand how the notification resumes as previously set but the ringtone just goes back to the default. Does this mean that every time I mount the SD card I have to reset my ringtone afterwards?

No. It's likely a problem with either the ROM you're on, or an application that is installed. My suggestion is reset to factory, see if it's the ROM, then restore your apps from a backup one at a time to find the culprit.

Hi, sometime my i780 did not play the assign ringtone when there was a incoming call, sms, email etc.
When I checked the settings, it complained that the ringtone was corrupt.
This happen to 6.1 and 6.5 rom and it happens very rarely.
A quick soft reset solved the problem but I want to see if this happens to any other i780 users and if they have a solution to this.
Cheers
P.S This happen even if the ringtone was on the device storage and not on the storage card
I have same problem, even for both .mp3 or .wav. The ringtones for receiving incoming call just switch to Rings-window standard. and worse, it takes few seconds for LED lights to flashing and then slowly to turn on the screen and start vibrating and ringing.
It happes even when i use win 6.0 or 6.1, and I have to be rush to pick up the call otherwise.... miss call.....
Very annoying... anyone have the idea ?
Try to put your ringtones in phone memory not in SD card
it happens to me a while back ago, but since i put my ringtones on the phone, it never complains
hope it works for you too

As stated in my first post, the problem occur even if ringtone was on device, which is wierd.
I suspect it might be due to some software conflict.
yup.. i even copy the ringtones into main memory and windows directory... but still same corruption... even the sizes of the ringtones are 4mb, or 1mb, or 500kb...
i was using win 6.0 DXHE1 and win 6.1 DXHL2
I have similar problem for long time. The ringtone always switches back to the default one, no matter I put my ringtone in device or SD card. Reset doesn't help and I have to manually set it again and again. It will use the rigntone for a while and switch back to the default.
yes... exactly i have that annoying problem... Pls any advice to fix that... Really annoying... I even tried some ringtone manager software... but also can't help...
have you tried to update/ upgrade your ROM? to recent official ROM?
Hi there,
I'm posting this on behalf of my friend. He has an unrooted, stock Desire HD. Software number: 1.32.405.6.
Whenever using the music app, the phone will regularly crash whenever he changes the song, or plays/pauses it. The screen will turn off, like the phone is powered down, and will refuse to turn back on. No buttons do anything and the phone is unresponsive.
The only solution is to remove the battery cover, and then start the phone up again.
I've had a quick search but couldn't find anything! Any ideas how to solve this?
Thanks,
Alex
Sorry, I know this sounds like a cop-out answer but it often works:
Hard Reset. Not sure if it's the same on a stock DHD but should be under Settings -> Privacy -> Factory data reset.
Need to back up anything they want to keep (SD Card will be safe). SMS, MMS, Contacts if not sync'd with Google etc. will be lost. As will application settings and all downloaded apps.
After that, root it for them and install a custom ROM. Will be easy as they on an early ROM version.
I've already said the same things to him, haha ! But he would rather not reset it or anything.
He said he may consider rooting and putting on custom ROM's at some point.
Hmmm....
Other than (soft) rebooting the phone, trying a different SD card and 3rd party music app I don't know what else to suggest. I suspect it will require a hard reset though. That software version is old and buggy (but has one use as I mentioned).
It is not at all uncommon for me to wonder whose phone is going off, as it isn't any of the sounds that I set for my phone, going off, only to find that it is my phone after all, as it has obviously decided it doesn't like my taste in music and pick other sounds, lol. As stated, it has happened many times, is every notification sound and rring tones and is not just a one off. Does this happen to anyone else and/or does any one know what I can do to keep the sounds that I want?

My wifes G2 did this, we found that a downloaded app from the market with different sounds. The phone would play ALL the ringtones at random. Once we removed that app from the phone it then played the selected ring and notification tones.
You don't recall which app it was?

Do u keep changing(adding/removing) music in your SD card?
Does it keep changing it to the same ringtone, notification, etc? Or random ones?
Its normal if the ringtones are you on your SD card, for them to switch back to the default tone set if you hook up your phone via USB to your PC in disk drive mode (phone can no longer access the SD card). It usually switches back to your custom tones when you unhook USB, but occasionally it will stay on the defaults. I've also read of some instances where problems with the SD card will do the same thing.
You can try to move your SD files to your computer, and format the card, or try a different card.
In the case of the SD card issue, it always seems to switch the tones to the same default tone set. If you're getting different random tones, it might be a different issue.
I got my T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S4 on 7-26-13. It is awesome, but I have noticed one problem. About every 2 days or so the sounds automatically reset back to system defaults. It is only my sounds, no other settings or options, but it all my sounds: Ringtones, Notifications, Alarms. They change from the custom ones back to "default ringtone".
All of my sounds and ringtones are stored on my external SD card. I restart my phone if not everyday then every-other day.
This has happened about 3 times since I got the phone and is very annoying. I called T-Mobile and they said this is a first time hearing of this issue and reccomended I do a Master Reset. I really want to avoid the master as much as possible. Usually I go to bed at night, plug my phone in to charge and when I wake up the sounds have been reset.
It is almost as if the SD card is unmounting then remounting itself while the phone is powered on. I dont think that is happening I just wanted to use it as an example of what is actually happening.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
Curtis.
The SD cards on these phones are notoriously flaky but usually not the stock ones... still. If you're rooted you can replace (or add to) the ring tones on the internal storage.
What's the status of your S4 regarding bone stock, Root, ROM etc.?
What additional if any apps have you installed from the playstore, etc?
What extsdcard card is installed?
As mentioned previously, sd cards can be corrupt, defective, etc. If you feel this may be the issue as you described, insert another card to rule the card in or our as the cause.
I am also on an S4, the sprint flavor, and have the exact problem as above. I understand the concept of moving the ring tones / notifications from the SD card to the internal storage, which will require root. Can someone please direct me to the correct location on the internal storage? Also once I have moved them, should I remove the folder from the SD card?
Thanks
Just creating this thread to start a list of small things that I've noticed on the the phone to date.Maybe sometime has answers or similar issues but has found a workaround.
1.Pre Order SD card. Lots of people having issues with this one, send like it needs to be formatted on a pc before it can be recognized?
2. Bluetooth : the phone doesn't seem to like changing broth sources. It won't auto connect to the most recent device and I found that I had to turn it'd my car Bluetooth when connecting to my headphones as the phone kept trying to connect to the car. Bit of a pain. Anyone else have this?
3. Oppo Swype: I had moved to swiftkey on the S3 but seeing as it's pre-installed I gave it another shot. I just found it that if you go to themes you can get a smaller keyboard and move it to your preferred side.nice.
4. Couldn't find the setting to get apps in alphabetical order. TIP: It's located in Settings - Main Screen, then select the icon to the right of where it says Oppo Launcher. Maybe it's just me but this seems like a weird place to have it...?
Separate items for ColorOs 2.0: Recognising that this is still a Beta so my own fault if I'm using it
1. Auto-brightness is a bit touchy, seems to get confused quite a bit.
2. Double-tap to wake hangs from time to time, and has resulted in 2 forced restarts today. Which is annoying
3. Gestures in general are a but more sluggish on 2.0
4. There seems to be a one-handed mode in 2.0 but I've only ever been able to get it to work accidentally and could never repeat the trick.
5. There also should be a multi-window option but I have no clue where it is, so put this one down as it's not too easy to find some of the settings.
Anyone else find anything annoying and get it fixed?

I'm using Swype at the moment so am not sure about the G keyboard. But I have always had the same problem across multiple ROMS. I just came from OmniRom on the S3 and it would often just randomly revert to google keyboard from swiftkey which was my default choice (so basically the reverse of your problem) Not sure it this is a common issue for Android?
ColorOs 2.0
Just wanted to call out that the Oppo recovery and Back up functions work very well. Flashed to ColorO2 2.0 beta and everything worked without a problem. A good sign!
I've experienced the Bluetooth switching pains as well. With my car and headphones both stored it works fine for my car but gives me fits connecting to the headphones where I have to delete my car to make it work reliably.
I've problem too with bluetooth. I can connect to my car (toyota radio BT) but no sound on the car speakers.
The music player starts automatiquely when the phone connect the car radio but no sound.
It's a problem for me because previously I use very often the music player with my Galaxy S3 in my car.
Do you have an idea to corect this issue ?

Have you checked in the settings that Phone and Media audio is set to 'on'? I know that my one had to be changed manually the first time. Also are you on ColorOS 2.0 or the current stable version (can't remember the number), maybe an update will resolve the issue for you?
You can find the beta 2.0 here:
http://www.oppoforums.com/threads/find-7-coloros-2-0-0i-beta.11926/
Thanks xenOphon for your answer
I use colorOS v.1.2.0i (french version)
Media audio is on in BT settings (but I can't find "Phone" in settings) .
Do you think that ColorOS beta2.0 is stable enough (thanks for the link) ?

No problem
My own BT has the options Phone and Media, maybe this is just my one, not sure to be honest?
As for ColorOS 2.0 it is stable and runs smoothly for the most part but there are one or two issue that I just added to the original post. Having said that the bluetooth connections are now working better than before. Not sure if that is related to 2.0 though!
Ok, thank you for your help
I think I'll try version 2.0
One thing that annoys me is when I'm scrolling up to read past text messages and it hits the point where it has to "load" the next bunch it goes all the way back to the last one sent in that conversation. I then have to scroll all the way back up again. Not a super huge problem but annoying when it happens. Does this with a couple other things I think but I can't recall what. I know scrolling through my music library would kill the SD card that came with the phone, that's annoying but SD issues have been discussed already.

the sms app in general is not the greatest. this has been the only real negative worth mentioning. the app is laggy. bad enough that Hangouts is the sms of choice at the moment. i wonder if that issue will be worked out in the coming updates.

I've had this issue with multiple phones and ROM's. The only way I found to fix it was to either freeze the one that is the issue or delete it completely.
Sent from my X9006 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
The only annoyance I have found so far is that even on the lowest volume setting the notifications are still really loud!
Okay so I got a response from Oppostyle
Original MSG. Yes it's vague but I'm so used to tech support from anyone going down a checklist that I gave up going into any detail on the initial encounter because I always get asked what I've already answered.
The 32 gig SD card continues to randomly disappear/unmount from the phone. I have the exact model but in it is a 16gb instead and it works fine without any problems. What are my option on getting the supplied 32 GB replaced/exchanged?
Response
Hello,
Thank you for contacting OppoStyle.com customer support.
I'm sorry to hear about the issue you're experiencing with your microSD card.
Could you please try format the SD card on your PC or laptop by using an SD card reader?
You could also follow this simple troubleshoot procedure and advise the result:
1. Insert the SD card into the card slot.
2. Turn on the phone.
3. Go to settings - > storage. The phone should recognize the volume of the card.
4. Select "erase USB storage"; if this is not possible, please take a screenshot (Press "Power Button" + "Volume down" at the same time).
5. If step 4 is successful, please try to copy larger files to the card and see if it's readable. If it doesn't, please take a screenshot once again.
5. Go into Camera app. Navigate to settings -> Storage and change the storage to SD card, then try to create a Full HD video (around 3 minutes long), then try to play it on your phone to see if it's working properly.
Please let us know if this steps works for you or if this doesn't, please attach all the mentioned screenshots for us to have a look.
Looking forward for your response, have a great day.

Support,
I've formatted the card multiple times in both fat32 and NTFS in different allocation sizes as well. I've already already formatted it via the phone as well. I can do all of the things mentioned in your trouble shooting no problem. The problem arises when I try to do multiple things concerning the SD card. For example I can not listen to music stored on the card and take a picture that is saved onto the card, when I do the card "disappears"/unmounts from the phone. I can play music, but if I scroll through my music library while listening to music the card disappears. If I'm taking a picture or listening to music and Titanium backup begins to run backing up my apps, the card disappears. Anytime the card is accessed twice it fails. I know it's the card because my 16 gig I can do all of these things without problem with it. I've tried my 16gig card formatted to fa32 and NTFS and it works on either file structure just fine. It also takes multiple restarts at times for the card to show back up in the phone.

It's okay, changing the settings in MaxxAudio makes the difference
It works !!!! Finally, I installed another music player (PlayerPro) and now I have sound on the car's speakers !! So I think there is a problem with the native music player.
Well oppostyle is sending me another SD card. Hopefully it's still the Sandisk Ultra 32gb and not the slow one they have listed on their site. Either way it'll be nice to have the extra space that actually works correctly. I'm surprised by the fairly quick response and turn around time.
Side note
Looks like AT&T didn't like me telling them their low level tech support sucks in the short survey they sent me after doing a support chat via their website. Got a call yesterday from a private number, which I never pick up, so they left a voice mail saying they wanted to do a follow up. Probably nothing will come of it unless they want to magically add the Find 7a to their database or activate my sim for another phone on their network that does LTE. I guess I'll find out when they call back later today. This doesn't work I'll see if I can convince one of the store people to let me activate my sim card on a display model.

Happy days, that would have been unfortunate if you weren't able to listen to music in the car.
